I’m not a NRA member, will not become one, but, I think this is a legitimate question. There is no doubt in my mind that his daughters are at a far greater risk than mine. No argument there. I’m sure I have no appreciation for the actual danger that those girls live with. But, I understand that having armed guards is standard operating procedure at this school. They don’t have guards because of the president’s kids. The practice predates their attendance. Is this not the case?

One needs only to remember that this country was founded and created by some gun wielding patriots who were revolting against a tyrannical government. I would like to know how we are going to protect ourselves against our government, which becomes more over reaching everyday, with just a pistol. We arm Syrians in order to allow them to revolt. My honest thought, though Jay, is while some on the left are claiming they it’s not really a complete gun grab they want, I don’t believe most of them. My personal belief is most of them don’t have the courage to state their true beliefs and this is just one more grab in the path to disarming the people. Just like that first federal tax at 1 or 2%. If they had asked for the 39.6% we have now, they would have been impeached.
In short, Jay, you and your “friends” are not to be trusted for what your true motives are. To do so would be foolish and potentially deadly.

For the life of me, I cannot understand how people can read novels like “Lord of the Flies” (which, by the way, is the translation of Beelzebub) and “Heart of Darkness” and utterly fail to see that these are moralistic commentaries on human nature itself. Millions upon millions of people were ruthlessly killed by dictators or tribal leaders last century, but mankind is essentially good. Let’s not bother counting up all of the lesser evils committed by people during that same time. We haven’t enough space or time.

So I see your comparisons…first the risk of inner city violence is much more severe and frequent in those schools. Also, I’m not sure they prevent random school shootings or stabbings any how.
Second, assuming armed guards at other schools, seems to me it is easy enough to isolate them as in Columbine. Can we reasonably screen out troubled applicants from such positions is another issue.
My point is that if folks want armed guards at schools so be it but it is very low probability of actually keeping bad guys out. School properties have much ground to cover. Additionaly technologic means are needed to make it near impossible to approach school property without being protected…
Your other examples are IMO rather silly comparisons…

The NRA had never been bashful about being desperate, and they are at it again. Remember the “cold dead hands comment from Moses?
They are also being unrealistic, because they can’t expect 20 kids and 6 six adults to be mowed down by a twenty year old coming up out of a subdivision with a Bushmaster and Bushmasters in subdivisions continue to be a business as usual matter. They are delusional.
On the other hand, driving around with a pick up truck and picking up all the guns is NOT the answer. The government can not disarm law abiding citizens until it convinces criminals to give up their guns.
I believe it should be about protecting the schools. That may mean a detachment of about three of four state gunmen stay around the school just in case.

Good link, Jackie. But most people here are likely to “stop up their ears”, as it runs counter to an agenda of changing law by changing the meaning of the Constitution (as if one’s home mortgage contract was a living document, susceptible to being “reinterpreted” every few months or so).

And both the NRA ad and my post are absolute fact. His kids do have armed guards in their schools yet the left is fighting equal protection for all children. And obama is using children for political props. No disputing that.
