I’ll have another post up shortly, but in the meantime I thought I might share this example of NY tabloid journalism at its finest, so to speak:
January 3rd, 20138:36 am
I’m sure New York will return the favor somehow. Better invest in some body armor Mr. Speaker.
stands for decibels
January 3rd, 20138:39 am
They smile in your face
All the time they wanna take your place
January 3rd, 20138:40 am
WHAT THEY DO.
January 3rd, 20138:41 am
And the Republican fumbling continues… after all the missteps after Katrina, you’d think the boys in DC would know better than to play politics on this, but sadly they didn’t. I bet they wouldn’t have let an abortion bill fall by the wayside…morons.
Lord Help Us
According to Peter King, that news is so yesterday. Today, it’s:
January 3rd, 20138:43 am
I am simply amazed at the speed with which Representative King back pedaled yesterday.
I wonder if he’s been seeing Lance Armstrongs trainer?
January 3rd, 20138:44 am
I’m so glad that I spent my youth growing up in the “garden state” of new jersey; it was a great childhood and you had to be tough to survive, not like the lily livered gameboy/xbox youth of today but I digress, governor christie is winning over more people with his crazy blunt style – totally jersey and god bless him for it!!!
Keep Up the Good Fight!
January 3rd, 20138:46 am
Don’t you love it when New Yorkers provide restrained commentary.
Oh, the hypocrisy. Peter King was one of only 11 members of congress that voted AGAINST aid for hurricane Katrina. But we all know that’s how the cons operate.
January 3rd, 20138:47 am
Now THAT’s a knife!
January 3rd, 20138:48 am
Jay, did you take that pic yourself? Do you get that dead-tree delivered at home/the office?
January 3rd, 20138:55 am
Don’t you just loves the drama that only Republicans can bring us.
I never noticed the Statue of Liberty has such a weird hairdo. What’s going on back there?
January 3rd, 20138:57 am
Nothing like a bloated aid package. How many more times do the get bailed out: NYC in the 70s, Bear Sterns, CitiGroup, TRAP, etc., etc.?
what a country
January 3rd, 20138:58 am
bill was loaded with more pork than christie is fat …get over it and pass a bill that doesnt add a bunch of extra b.s.
USinUK - not very ladylike (and former Girl Scout)
January 3rd, 20139:02 am
” How many more times do the get bailed out: NYC in the 70s, Bear Sterns, CitiGroup, TRAP, etc., etc.?”
as Christie said – they are net DONORS, giving more money to DC than they ever get back … helping them in their time of need is the least the US can do.
January 3rd, 20139:03 am
Aqua – “I never noticed the Statue of Liberty has such a weird hairdo. What’s going on back there?”
well, she IS French, after all …
Republicans eat their own.
Redneck Convert (R--and proud of it)
January 3rd, 20139:04 am
Well, I never cared for the bad manners of New Yorkers. I grew up learning that you got to be alot nicer when you tell someone to kiss your rear end. That way, they don’t get mad as much. It’s the Southren way of living.
Have a good Thursday everybody.
‘well, she IS French, after all …’
Check the pits…
January 3rd, 20139:07 am
what a country – “bill was loaded with more pork than christie is fat”
You need to get your facts straight, Bud. Just because you believe something like that with all your heart does not make it true.
LHU – eeewwwwwwww
Milty is going to be very upset when he finds out where his salsa is coming from.
Maybe if New York state legislature wasn’t running deficits they would have the money to fix THEIR state. But hey, can you blame them? It’s not like our country has a deficit problem or anything, right?
January 3rd, 20139:09 am
no wonder they like muslims
when liberals cant run a business…… they have to hope a rich muslim comes in and buys them out
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Al-Jazeera, the Pan-Arab news channel that struggled to win space on American cable television, has acquired Current TV, boosting its reach in the U.S. nearly ninefold to about 40 million homes. With a focus on U.S. news, it plans to rebrand the left-leaning news network that cofounder Al Gore couldn’t make relevant.
is the AJC next?
“Maybe if New York state legislature wasn’t running deficits they would have the money to fix THEIR state”
Jeebus on a jetski.
I hope you people remember who is making these kinds of a-hole-ish comments the next time GA is ripped up by tornadoes and hurricanes.
January 3rd, 20139:11 am
New Yorkers ARE blunt! I know exactly how Lady Liberty feels, because one time, my new wife and I were driving to City Island for the Lobster and we came upon this very famous traffic-circle roundabout thing. Now my wife grew up in New York City, but she wasn’t driving. I was. I hesitated as I tried to work my way out of the roundabout and this New Yorker pulls up along side of us, motions for us to roll down the window, and hollers in a loud, rude bellow, “HEY! Whatever you’re gonna do……..DO IT!”. My wife meekly said, “Thank you, sir….” He let us go in front of him, (very light traffic), and we finally were well down the road to City Island. I looked at my wife, we laughed, and I suggested that she must have been lying about being a New Yorker, “You shoulda let him have it.” The rest of our marriage I would claim to be the real New Yorker, who loved the pizza more, the pastrami more, and I was the more adventurous and blunt. During her sometimes demure reaction to foreplay, I’d sometimes suggest “I knew you weren’t from New York City all along……” She’d say, “whatever you’re gonna do, do it….”
The truth is I AM the real New Yorker. Why? Because I would drive to New York City from Atlanta right now for the pizza alone. AND I’m the only one left who misses the older, seedier Time Square. THAT’s a New Yorker.
Uncle Sam doesn’t seem to understand that acquisition is a consummation divinely to be wished by a lot of companies.
poooooor uncle sam. no business sense.
January 3rd, 20139:14 am
Georgia – 9:11 – if you’ve never read any of Anthony Bourdain’s books … RUN, do not walk … he’s a NYer (NJ, boy, anyway), that loves the old Times Square, too
January 3rd, 20139:15 am
Georgia, would you bring me back a few knishes and some bagels?
January 3rd, 20139:16 am
Aww USinUK…must be awful to live in your world of dependence on someone else every day of your life.
January 3rd, 20139:17 am
“I’m sure New York will return the favor somehow. Better invest in some body armor Mr. Speaker.”
and certainly don’t stand close to the edge on a train platform…
January 3rd, 20139:19 am
January 3rd, 20139:20 am
ATL – considering that GA is a net recipient of US funds, I think “you’re soaking in it”, dear
January 3rd, 20139:21 am
GG – I’ve never really gotten into knishes … but really good NY bagels from Essa Bagel on 2nd Ave … yummmmmmmmmmm …
he’s a NYer (NJ, boy, anyway), that loves the old Times Square, too
Apparently Guy Fieri is not anything like Anthony Bourdain. Why are NY papers so p*ssed lately?
January 3rd, 20139:23 am
Aqua – that is the best. review. ever.
January 3rd, 20139:25 am
ATL: “Aww USinUK…must be awful to live in your world of dependence on someone else every day of your life”
First of all, you don’t know anything about who you’re talking to or what you’re talking about.
Could Georgia, with its balanced budget requirement, handle such a disaster? Where would the money come from in ANY state to handle this? That’s why we have disaster relief funding at the federal level. NO state could just find the money. If that storm had turned inland just a little further south, you and your ilk would be clamoring for the money and be just as outraged by this. It’s easy to sit on the sidelines and judge, but think about what you’re saying. What state currently has the funds sitting in the coffers to handle an unexpected and unprecdented natural disaster?
January 3rd, 20139:27 am
consummation divinely to be wished by a lot of companies
ooh thank GOD!!!!!!!! (psst dont tell my liberal friends i like god) someone bought this business they i have been bleeding money losing on………….now i can act like i was a shrewd business person and wanted to sell it all along………… hopefully no one will notice that i cant run a business
What’s the difference between a Yankee and a Damn Yankee?
Yankees only visit.
January 3rd, 20139:28 am
that is the best. review. ever.
Normally restaurant reviews are as exciting as a grocery list to me. Not this one. “And when we hear the words Donkey Sauce, which part of the donkey are we supposed to think about?” HAHAHA!
Don’t f*ck with Times Square, Guy. You might get the donkey….horns.
King of Planet Kolob
January 3rd, 20139:29 am
after Eric Cantor wanted to deny Joplin disaster aid, he is now worried about his NY donors. he figured out again how to throw Boehner under the bus while keeping his hands clean.
Uncle Sam –
thanks for illustrating my point.
you really don’t have any idea how business runs.
January 3rd, 20139:30 am
‘now i can act like i was a shrewd business person and wanted to sell it all along’
FYI – in some circles, it is a good thing to start a company and then have it acquired…
January 3rd, 20139:32 am
Yeah Uncle Samantha,
Like Trump ain’t never declared bankruptcy, or all the Wall Street firms and banks who had to be bailed out are run by liberals…
“What’s the difference between a Yankee and a Damn Yankee?”
aw, damn. Now, I have this in my head …
(Gwen Verdon rocks)
Jay – Why didn’t you mention anything about all of the PORK that was added to the bill? Didn’t it fit your liberal, bed-wetting agenda?
* $150 million for Alaskan fisheries.
* $8 million for cars for the Homeland Security and Justice departments.
* $2 million for the Smithsonian to repair roofs damaged before Sandy.
* $336 million in Amtrak expenses
January 3rd, 20139:33 am
This Tea-party Congress is disgusting — shame shame shame!
Joe Hussein Mama
January 3rd, 20139:34 am
Mick — “I’m so glad that I spent my youth growing up in the “garden state” of new jersey”
Or, as an NJ cabbie once said to me, “Noo Joisey — da Gobbidge State.”
My theory is that Yankees (and I’ve got plenty of them in my family tree) are often pushy, impatient and ill-mannered (by Suthun standards) because they only have six to nine months — depending on where they live — to get done what Suthuners have twelve hot, warm or mild months to accomplish. We take our time because we *can.*
LHU – “FYI – in some circles, it is a good thing to start a company and then have it acquired…”
that’s what I’m sayin … evidently, that’s “liberal loserism” or some such bumfodder
January 3rd, 20139:35 am
Vinny – 9:32 – yeah. THAT’S what the GOP opposes.
January 3rd, 20139:36 am
Since when is fixing the damaged roofs of our national museum “pork”?
THEY CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH
al gore’s poorly run current tv was bought by AL JAZERRA………… not because it was a great company to buy ………… BUT BECAUSE THEY WANTED ACCESS TO US MARKET
liberals are business ignorant………..
cant even understand buying a FAILED company is not a success for the FAILED company…… its a success for the BUYER……………………….
January 3rd, 20139:38 am
CURRENT TV is BU-BUY
an inconvenient truth to liberals
another failed liberal media company
Al-Jazeera, owned by the government of Qatar, plans to gradually transform Current into a network called Al-Jazeera America by adding five to 10 new U.S. bureaus beyond the five it has now and hiring more journalists. More than half of the content will be U.S. news and the network will have its headquarters in New York, spokesman Stan Collender said.
Collender said there are no rules against foreign ownership of a cable channel — unlike the strict rules limiting foreign ownership of free-to-air TV stations. He said the move is based on demand, adding that 40 percent of viewing traffic on Al-Jazeera English’s website is from the U.S.
“This is a pure business decision based on recognized demand,” Collender said. “When people watch Al-Jazeera, they tend to like it a great deal.”
January 3rd, 20139:39 am
U. Samantha — “al gore’s poorly run current tv was bought by AL JAZERRA”
What makes you think it was “poorly run?”
January 3rd, 20139:40 am
“al gore’s poorly run current tv was bought by AL JAZERRA………… not because it was a great company to buy ………… BUT BECAUSE THEY WANTED ACCESS TO US MARKET”
… and that’s a sign that Al Gore’s company was a failure??? not quite. If it didn’t have the reach that AJ wanted, they wouldn’t have bought it.
logic isn’t your strong suit, is it?
January 3rd, 20139:41 am
They should keep this stuff on the editorial pages and opinion
columns and blogs.
‘al gore’s poorly run current tv was bought by AL JAZERRA………… not because it was a great company to buy ………… BUT BECAUSE THEY WANTED ACCESS TO US MARKET’
And the founder, Al Gore, makes out like a bandit…guess this makes him a “poor liberal”
when people watch CURRENT TV they tend to……………… uhhhhhhhh…………. people dont watch CURRENT TV
Stan Collender! I know him … how funny.
And, if you’ve never watch Al Jazeera, it’s actually a really good news station.
33 votes in the House to rescind Obamacare, and not one to help the victims of Sandy. Great leadership there Republicans.
January 3rd, 20139:42 am
Uncle Sam – seriously, you’re really proving my point in post after post – you have no bloomin’ IDEA what you’re talking about.
January 3rd, 20139:43 am
Al Jazeera does a pretty damn good job, but that whole muslimy sounding name scares the weak minded.
Funny when you think about the fact that News Corp’s second largest stockholder is Prince Alwaleed of Saudi Arabia.
Now that’s muslimy sounding ain’t it?
“people dont watch CURRENT TV”
Wow, big deal. And who the hell cares.
January 3rd, 20139:44 am
Is it coincidence that Al Jazeera begins with Al or that Al Jazeera Corp
has the initials AJC ? and the middle initial J? I think not…
January 3rd, 20139:45 am
GG – and when it comes to weak-mindedness … Uncle Sam seems to have that market cornered …
USinUK is really business ignorant
cant even comprehend the statement that AL-J made……….
they didn’t buy CURRENT to keep CURRENT running…………. they bought it to REPLACE it with AL-J content………..it was for access to the U.S. market………..
einstein’s second definition of insanity—— trying to talk logic with a liberal
“Why didn’t you mention anything about all of the PORK that was added to the bill?”
Funny how some people equate actually paying for the running of our gov’t to waste.
January 3rd, 20139:46 am
‘I’ll have another post up shortly,’
Your definition of ’shortly’ apparently isn’t a ‘New York Minute…’
Vinny (not Einstein) wrote:

Whoopee! All totaled, that’s less than 1% “pork”!
January 3rd, 20139:47 am
I’d certainly support $2M for roof work at the Smithsonian. It houses many of our Nation’s treasures.
The real outrage should be why it hasn’t been fixed, already.
U. Samantha — “when people watch CURRENT TV they tend to……………… uhhhhhhhh…………. people dont watch CURRENT TV”
Sure they do.
I watched it myself just this morning (Bill Press). It’s on Dish Network, and I believe Direct TV is carrying it now, too.
January 3rd, 20139:48 am
The contect will be about the same Mr Silly PAnts.
Or are you seriously expecting Real Housewives of Baghdad? AFganistanian Idol?
tee hee hee
January 3rd, 20139:49 am
U. Samantha — “they didn’t buy CURRENT to keep CURRENT running…………. they bought it to REPLACE it with AL-J content………..”
Which means that it has viable infrastructure and access rights to American airwaves. Ergo, not “poorly run.”
“einstein’s second definition of insanity—— trying to talk logic with a liberal”
You’re certainly not talking logically, and I doubt you’re even trying to.
If if doesn’t benefit them personally, it’s pork. No wonder they’re so outraged all the time.
The stylist, Ferris of Paris, messed it up…..just stuck a knife in it….
current tv viewers will soon have to tune in to AL-J before they cut on their AIR-AMERICA on the radio
B. Frog — “Is it coincidence that Al Jazeera begins with Al”
So does Al Abama.
Nobody tell Doomy, k?
January 3rd, 20139:50 am
barking – 9:44 – – “Al Jazeera Corp has the initials AJC ? and the middle initial J? I think not” that’s how interweb rumors get started!!
‘Al Jazeera did not disclose the purchase price, but people with direct knowledge of the deal pegged it at around $500 million, indicating a $100 million payout for Mr. Gore, who owned 20 percent of Current. ‘
January 3rd, 20139:51 am
poor liberal logic
all with viable infrastructure but POORLY RUN
U. Samantha — “current tv viewers will soon have to tune in to AL-J before they cut on their AIR-AMERICA on the radio”
I’d rather watch Al-J than watch FNC’s crying news anchors and another Karl Rove on-air meltdown.
January 3rd, 20139:52 am
JHM – as does Al Aska … and Al Gebra !!!
my god – there IS a huge mooooooooooslem conspiracy!!!
January 3rd, 20139:53 am
Saw a few Al Gore comments……..what a stone-faced nothing. He, Boehner and otheres remind me on a daily basis why I am an independent….
U. Samantha — “poor liberal logic”
Nonexistent conservative logic.
Viable infrastructure is IN AND OF ITSELF a refutation of your “poorly run” assertion.
If, OTOH, you have P&L statements from some of the companies you want to slag on, we can certainly do some due diligence right here and smarten you up some.
New Yorkers are really surprised that if you live near sea level in a coastal area you will likely be flooded in the event of a hurricane? I guess their intelligence (or street smarts) has been seriously overrated.
January 3rd, 20139:54 am
“Is it coincidence that Al Jazeera begins with Al or that Al Jazeera Corp
has the initials AJC ?”
Wow. Al Jazeera is connected with the American Jewish Committee? The Jewish media really is everywhere.
January 3rd, 20139:55 am
I think somebodies “uncle” has some serious infrastructure issues…..
January 3rd, 20139:56 am
I am worried about the ‘poor liberal’ Al Gore…probably won’t be able to afford quality massages for his measly $100 Mil…
“they didn’t buy CURRENT to keep CURRENT running…………. they bought it to REPLACE it with AL-J content………..it was for access to the U.S. market………..”
they bought it, Mr. Reading is Fundamental, because it reaches 40M households. So what if they’re replacing the content – the business built a successful infrastructure and was bought for a commensurate price (including compensation for Mr. Gore).
sorry that you’re so pig-ignorant you think a $100M payout is “failure” … but, then, I’m not surprised, having read your posts in the past.
granny – 8:43
His corporate sponsors probably read the riot act to him.
“Wow. Al Jazeera is connected with the American Jewish Committee?”
January 3rd, 20139:57 am
When I was carrying a tool bag working the Delta jets in ATL the Flight Attendants on New York bound flights would almost panic anytime a technician showed on the plane. New Yorkers as a group – let me repeat that – as a group are overly demanding and rude. A delayed flight meant complaining and whining which the attendants did not want to have to deal with. Every delayed flight there are complaints, but the NY flights are by far the worse.
This Sandy relief bill thing is similar. NY wants it, they want it now, and they can’t wait.
They will get it, but without the pork.
January 3rd, 20139:58 am
“I’d rather watch Al-J than watch FNC’s crying news anchors and another Karl Rove on-air meltdown.”
I dunno … the Karl Rove meltdown was some TV GOLD, I tell ya!!
It’s insulting to NY and NJ, not only because it’s been 61 days since Sandy and other states get Federal aid within a few days. It’s also insulting because NY and NJ don’t suck at the teat of the Federal government like the southern states. They give more back to the Feds than they take, unlike Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas. Those states receive more in Federal money than they give to the coffers. They should not be put in this position by Congress now that they have needs.
Gimme Gimme Gimme
Shocking that Congress didn’t want to rubber stamp that pork filled bill. Another “just sign it and we will worry about the money later” bill. If we keep this up we will have one heck of a deficit.
January 3rd, 20139:59 am
I suspect there will be enough $$$$ spread around.
Believe it or not, after G.W.Bush decided to bomb the crap out of Baghdad, and then tried to spin it, saying we would be welcomed as liberators, Al-Jazeera and the BBC were two places where we could get the truth. As a matter of fact, our government took down a lot of sites that showed what was really going on. Bush kept talking about “smart bombs” bombing with surgical precision, killing only the bad guys, and Al-Jazeera and the BBC showed the incredible death and destruction we brought to that country that never did a thing to us. To this day, our government will not tell us how many innocent men, women, and children died during that stupid, senseless war. Heck, they try to keep the number of our brave men and women who have died in service to our country quiet. I think we need all kinds of news coverage. If we read and listen to all sides, we can form a better opinion.

“Whoopy, that amounts to 1% pork…”
Runaway spending with no end in sight…and supported by a liberal culture that couldn’t care less. Looking the other way on a 1% spend, is indicative of why you distain any control of spending at all..
