Some travelin’ music to get us all home safely
We just spent a magical New England Christmas with my sister Lee Ann and her family, along with a gathering of the extended Bookman/Halunen clan. It was a perfect week, complete with a snowy Christmas Day, but life and home beckon. We’re now headed back to the ATL to kick off the new year.
My brother-in-law and host, Reino, is among other things an avid amateur guitar player. In fact, one of the highlights of the holiday came when Reino presented a miniature electric guitar, complete with miniature amp, to his 5-year-old grandson, Nathan, with promises of guitar lessons to come.
Reino’s favorite blues guitar player is the late Gary Moore of Northern Ireland, best known in this country for his stint with Thin Lizzy. So in tribute to Reino and Lee Ann, and in thanks for their great hospitality, here’s Mr. Moore, performing one of his solo hits:

Corbin, one reason my partner had in the choice between ipad and ASUS tablet, was the pace of obsolescence in electronics. She figured that if the tablet meets her needs, she will be ready to pay for a better one when the market stabilizes on a tablet. My nephew has a Galaxy and apparently like that. I would not recommend a tablet to anyone as the only computer. But it is great for when you are away from the main machine.

Effectively that means someone making $50,000 might get about $83 less a month in their paychecks. Someone making twice that would see their pay reduced by roughly $167 a month.

Just poking fun with you. I don’t care for the term African American, personally, as it an accurate label for someone born an African and naturalized as an American. That said, I don’t see why people are getting upset about the language in that movie when you hear much worse things said in urban music and comedy. I personally see these protests as misplaced concern. A period piece, where that language would be commonplace, is not where the protests should be directed.
