We just spent a magical New England Christmas with my sister Lee Ann and her family, along with a gathering of the extended Bookman/Halunen clan. It was a perfect week, complete with a snowy Christmas Day, but life and home beckon. We’re now headed back to the ATL to kick off the new year.
My brother-in-law and host, Reino, is among other things an avid amateur guitar player. In fact, one of the highlights of the holiday came when Reino presented a miniature electric guitar, complete with miniature amp, to his 5-year-old grandson, Nathan, with promises of guitar lessons to come.
Reino’s favorite blues guitar player is the late Gary Moore of Northern Ireland, best known in this country for his stint with Thin Lizzy. So in tribute to Reino and Lee Ann, and in thanks for their great hospitality, here’s Mr. Moore, performing one of his solo hits:

1) No one is talking about banning guns
2) No one is saying anything about anything to do with the 2nd Amendment
Maybe if you figure out what is actually being discussed you will be able to participate in the conversation. Maybe?

Definition of a TROLL:
A stereotypical Nerd who, despite being a grown adult is still an adolescent right down to living with his parents. While the decor of their Poster Gallery Bedroom is subject to the tastes of the character, be sure there will be a computer to communicate with the outside world. It’s always Played for Laughs as an acceptable lifestyle target. More importantly, the subject is Always Male, Can’t get a date, Have no social skills, and periodically tries to pay for sex but gets turned down — even by tranny tricks.
The guys who are depicted in this condition usually fit into one of the following:
* Lazy and unwilling to earn a living for himself.
* Childish and requires everything to be done for him.
* Can’t get any and hasn’t moved out to start a family.
* Technically UNABLE to earn a living for himself. (i.e. unable to get a job)
* Loves to “role play”; especially comic book or sci-fi characters
* Has no or FEW friends
* Dwells on Bookman’s Blog
Does any of this sound familiar? Is there anyone here who fit that role?
Here’s a picture of, whom I believe, is of our current troll.

bloggers discussing banning guns does not equate to anyone with any power talking about banning guns.
When bloggers talk about banning guns its usually an attempt to make gun nuts freak out. And it appears to work every single time…..like clockwork.

Mad Troll Blogger In The Attic Syndrome:
Dr. Hibbert: But what to do with poor Hugo? Too crazy for Boys Town, too much of a boy for Crazy Town. The child was an outcast. So, we did the only humane thing.
Homer: We chained Hugo up in the attic like an animal and fed him a bucket of fish heads once a week.
—The Simpsons
This is when a Nerd, with mental problems, and often some physical deformity, is locked away because he will never fit into society.
He’s usually locked either in the attic or in the basement, with his computer, his blow up, “I’ll always love you ‘cause I’m plastic” doll, and a bag of cheetoes.. They also tend to be inbred.

Trolling For Attention On Blogs – aka – Lonelyitis:
A psychological cultural disease, mainly present in lonely middle aged nerd culture, where a lonely male blogger snaps under pressure and becomes socially and physically withdrawn into their household, and their own world, often for years.
Because of the social stigma and the assumption that the person’s family are the right people to handle the situation, how many cases actually exist is uncertain.
While attempts to assess/diagnose/explain the phenomenon have been met with either much controversy or fierce debate, which is not helped at all by existing prejudice against antisocial behavior by middle aged nerds, but which persists with constant pleas for attention.
For example – Many who suffer from lonelyitis are friendless, sexless, hideous men who have obsessive compulsion tendencies and who fantasize about having real friends and real lives.
Because many with lonelyitis vaguely cope by assuming an obsessive activity, such as stalking other Bookman bloggers, many people assume they are “sick” or “pathetic”, which unfortunately only makes the sufferer more bold and more obnoxious in its psychopathy.
Although some psychologists argued that trolls are, by definition, not confident enough to actually hurt others, and are rather just pitiable unhealthy folk. Still by giving them the attention they crave, normal bloggers are in fact hurting them and not helping them to get the help that they need.
While the troll phenomenon is similar to shut-in behaviour in other countries, the American troll culture enables its extremes. When a family in another culture would be likely to get a developing shut-in troll to see a doctor, an American family is unlikely to, because having a family member who is a Troll who seeks unwarranted attention from strangers would be shameful.
Not only that, but having a Troll in the family is shameful, so he’s kept a secret. The strong tradition of taking care of ignoring trolling and pretending that Little Johnny, though 45 years old, is still “just growing up” and “hasn’t found the right fit of friends yet”, has made parent ignore the visible signs of Trolling psychosis and just bring food at his room door, ignoring and enabling the most extreme forms of Trolling For Attention On Blogs.

I’m just a lonely boy, lonely and blue
I’m all alone with nothin’ to do
I’ve got everything you could think of
But all I want is someone to love
Someone, yes, someone to love, someone to kiss
Someone to hold at a moment like this
I’d like to hear somebody say “I’ll give you my love each night and day”
I’m just a lonely boy, lonely and blue
I’m all alone with nothin’ to do
I’ve got everything you could think of
But all I want is someone to love
Somebody, somebody, somebody, please send her to me
I’ll make her happy, just wait and see
I prayed so hard to the heavens above
That I’m gonna find someone to love
I’m just a lonely boy, lonely and blue
I’m all alone with nothin’ to do
I’ve got everything you could think of

Great Dave Berry commentary, (and link post) SoCoBro!!:
It was a cruel, cruel year — a year that kept raising our hopes, only to squash them flatter than a dead possum on the interstate.
Example: This year the “reality” show “Jersey Shore,” which for six hideous seasons has been a compelling argument in favor of a major Earth-asteroid collision, finally got canceled, and we dared to wonder if maybe, just maybe, we, as a society, were becoming slightly less stupid.
But then, WHAP, we were slapped in our national face by the cold hard frozen mackerel of reality in the form of the hugely popular new “reality” show “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” which, in terms of intellectual content, makes “Jersey Shore” look like “Hamlet.”

Fred – Thanks for that link! I was amazed that some of the same people that he talks about have shown up on this blog! For instance:
Profundus Maximus eagerly holds forth on all subjects, but his thin knowledge will not support a sustained assault and therefore his attacks quickly peter out. Profundus Maximus often uses big words, obscure terms and…ahem…even Latin to bluff his way through battle..
Evil Clown is very quick with a joke, but his jests always have a barb. He has little patience for in-depth discussions and will often disrupt exchanges between serious forum participants by introducing irrelevant topics, fatuous quips, and offhand comments. His greatest thrill is to taunt and humiliate weaker or more plodding Warriors with his snappy ripostes. Not a particularly powerful Warrior, Evil Clown will attempt to avoid defeat by accusing his attacker of having no sense of humor.
Be he a Baptist, Scientologist or Zoroastrian, in the heat of battle Deacon will call down Divine retribution on all net sinners, and will never miss an opportunity to blather endlessly about his religion. Deacon is fervent and earnest, but seldom contributes anything of interest or substance to the discussion. Occasionally Tireless Rebutter or Philosopher will rouse themselves engage Deacon in battle, but they soon lose interest because of his utter predictability.
Troller is looking for a response…ANY response, and he will chum the waters with complaints, insults, compliments, and inflammatory tidbits hoping that someone…ANYONE, will take the bait. Generally quite harmless – practices a form of catch and release. Nonetheless, he can upset the delicate ecology of a discussion forum. Once a forum becomes aware of his presence, however, all feeding activity ceases and Troller must move on to more promising waters.
WARNING!!! YOU MUST READ THIS!!! Klaxon, the internet Chicken Little, raises the alarm for each and every paranoid conspiracy theory, Federal Big-Brother scheme, internet hoax, and latest computer virus. No black helicopter alert is so ludicrous, no urban legend so implausible, that he will not pass it along as accepted fact (in ALL CAPS with multiple exclamation marks). Congratulations, you are recipient 16,747 of today’s Urban Myth. CAUTION: Evil Clown or even Klaxon himself may sometimes spread false alarms just to stir up trouble.
Enfant Provocateur likes to stir up trouble because…because, well…just because. This species of Flame Warrior is almost always young and male – it could be just a hormone thing.
As a forum participant Jekyll and Hyde always plays by the rules and is consistently cordial and helpful – a model netizen, until one day he comes completely uncorked and lashes out without warning. His unanticipated thunderbolts can temporarily rout even the sturdiest Warriors, and it often takes some time for his stunned opponents to mount a counter attack. Jekyll and Hyde’s sudden behavioral change may result from a psychotic episode, PMS, a downturn in the market, a surprise visit by the in-laws – or a session of hard drinking…
Lonely Guy doesn’t get out much, and often his social isolation can drive him to do battle just for the human contact. Compassion dictates that we shouldn’t get too upset with his antics. Nonetheless, Lonely Guy can be very fierce. Remember, he has nothing better to do than stew over real or imagined insults. CAUTION: If Lonely Guy is also a Propeller Head he may retaliate with e mail bombing, anonymous spamming, electronic stalking and other techie mischief
I’m amazed at how this guy nailed it!! How did he know Fred? How could he possibly know?

Let’s see…nearly to 1000 on just this holiday weekend thread, in no small part thanks to the fastest typist in the west. You think the ad salesmen don’t make a point of that in their sales pitch? Neither they nor the advertizers really give a sh*t what we’re yammering about, but man, what a potential viewer count.
I really would like to know where Big Daddy ranks in the national ratings…and there’s got to be somebody out there tracking this…

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—The international terror group known as Al Qaeda announced its dissolution today, saying that “our mission of destroying the American economy is now in the capable hands of the U.S. Congress.”
In an official statement published on the group’s website, the current leader of Al Qaeda said that Congress’s conduct during the so-called “fiscal-cliff” showdown convinced the terrorists that they had been outdone.
“We’ve been working overtime trying to come up with ways to terrorize the American people and wreck their economy,” said the statement from Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri. “But even we couldn’t come up with something like this.”
Mr. al-Zawhiri said that the idea of holding the entire nation hostage with a clock ticking down to the end of the year “is completely insane and worthy of a Bond villain.”
“As terrorists, every now and then you have to step back and admire when someone else has beaten you at your own game,” he said. “This is one of those times.”
The Al Qaeda leader was fulsome in his praise for congressional leaders, saying, “We have made many scary videos in our time but none of them were as terrifying as Mitch McConnell.”
As for the future of Al Qaeda, the statement said that it would no longer be a terror network but would become “more of a social network,” offering reviews of new music, movies and video games.
In its first movie review, Al Qaeda gave the film “Zero Dark Thirty” two thumbs down.

Hillary——–Hillary————Hillary!…2016!
From the Australian——-
.
“Andrei Arbashe, a young Syrian Christian, had just gotten married and his wife was about to give birth. He had his life ahead of him. But thanks to the US/Saudi/Qatari/Israeli-supported rebels that was not to be. Instead, as the Australian reports today, he was beheaded by Obama and Hillary’s rebels, cut into pieces, and fed to the dogs.
His “crime” was nothing more than his being a Christian whose brother was overheard complaining of the brutality of the rebels.
As Agnes-Mariam de la Croix, mother superior of the Monastery of St James in Homs, points out in the article, again and again it is clear that the intent of the US-supported rebels is to target for genocide the Christian community in Syria — a Christian community that had been living side by side with Muslims in Syria for centuries.
.
Interestingly, Sheik Khatib, hand-picked by Hillary Clinton to be the Syrian Ahmed Chalabi is, like the original Chalabi, not in Syria and has not lived in Syria for some time.

Heard these analogies this week to describe what the government is doing with our economic system:
1) “Some enterprising fella near Atlanta decides to sell watermelons and make some money. He goes and buys them for 85 cents apiece, fills up his truck and then sells them for 85 cents apiece. After figuring out he is not making any profit, he tells his partner ………. ‘we need to get a bigger truck !’ “.
Translation: You can’t get out of debt by getting into more debt.
2) Two groups of people are standing in line all day to get something.
The first group is waiting to purchase a brand new iphone for $600. Halfway through the line, the new product runs out.
The second group is waiting in line to get a free cell phone. Halfway through the line, the new product runs out.
Translation: Which group is more likely to cause problems because the product ran out ?

Any progressive with the IQ slightly above an Obama/Romney-Bot …………would be ashamed to admit the below Party Platform———————-
.
.
“We ask that the government undertake the obligation above all of providing citizens with adequate opportunity for employment and earning a living. The activities of the individual must not be allowed to clash with the interests of the community, but must take place within its confines and be for the good of all. Therefore, we demand: an end to the power of the financial interests . We demand profit sharing in big business. We demand a broad extension of care for the aged. We demand. . . the greatest possible consideration of small business in the purchases of the national, state, and municipal governments. In order to make possible to every capable and industrious [citizen] the attainment of higher education and thus the achievement of a post of leadership, the government must provide an all-around enlargement of our system of public education. . . . We demand the education at government expense of gifted children of poor parents. . . . The government must undertake the improvement of public health — by protecting mother and child, by prohibiting child labor — by the greatest possible support for all clubs concerned with the physical education of youth. We combat the . . . materialistic spirit within and without us, and are convinced that a permanent recovery of our people can only proceed from within on the foundation of “The Common Good Before the Individual Good .”
.
Nothing new…………………always just as rotten.

And the Wisconsin Twerp, Ayn Ryan, couldn’t even keep his own district from ending up in the Obama column.

New York Times columnist David Brooks said Sunday that Republicans should shoulder most of the blame if lawmakers do not reach an agreement on the fiscal cliff ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.
“What’s happening in Washington right now is pathetic. When you think about what the revolutionary generation did, what the civil war generation did, what the World War II generation did — we’re asking not to bankrupt our children and we’ve got a shambolic, dysfunctional process,” Brooks said during an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
“Most of the blame still has to go to the Republicans,” he continued. “They’ve had a brain freeze since the election. They have no strategy. They don’t know what they want. They haven’t decided what they want.”
Brooks’ comments echoed a similar assessment from President Obama, who sat down with “Meet the Press” for an interview that aired Sunday morning.
“We have been talking to the Republicans ever since the election was over. They have had trouble saying yes to a number of repeated offers,” Obama said. “[S]o far, at least, Congress has not been able to get this stuff done. Not because Democrats in Congress don’t want to go ahead and cooperate, but because I think it’s been very hard for Speaker Boehner and Republican Leader McConnell to accept the fact that taxes on the wealthiest Americans should go up a little bit, as part of an overall deficit reduction package.”
