The Republican party cares only what Sheldon Adelson and Co. are willing to pay in exchange for their services. After all, we established what the Republican party members are some time ago so the only thing left to discuss is their price. I do suspect that ole Sheldon (aka, Jabba the Hutt ) was expecting a little something in exchange for his 100+ million though.

With the complete abdication of responsibility of the republican house, it appears the only way to avoid the cliff is for Reid to craft a senate bill in such a way that it will peel off the votes of enough patriotic republicans to pass the house.

We in the construction biz have been on the front lines of the immigration issue ever since St. Ronnie-of-the-Raygun’s 1986 amnesty. I have a hard time sympathizing with efforts to close the barn doors long after this ox was gored.
On this issue, both Dems and Repubs were fine with turning a blind eye until constituents started screaming, “THEY TOOK OUR JERBS!”
Of course by then it was too late.
Maybe old Joe is making a difference, but his methods are questionable and he wouldn’t have to resort to such methods if something had been done almost thirty years ago.

td — from your link at 10:00 a.m. (please note BOLD sentences):
That’s a worst-case scenario — but one that Democrats say would force 10-year cuts in Social Security, Medicare and defense spending totaling more than $1 trillion each, compared with the CBO projections.
“Mack doesn’t have the courage to say what programs he would take from Americans. … If you protect Social Security and Medicare, then you would literally have to cut 80 percent out of defense,” said Nelson’s campaign spokesman Paul Kincaid.
Mack’s campaign challenges the assumption that lack of agreement between Congress and the White House would trigger across-the-board cuts. The campaign also dismisses the Democrats’ use of the CBO projections.
AGAIN, how did your congressman Connie Mack come up with his numbers/figures? Is he using REAL math, or is he using republican math?
You know, republican math is math that makes no sense to mathematicians but it makes republicans FEEL better.

The Constitution does not change. The questions change. New issues and problems come up that have not been addressed before.
Like “Are corporations people?” Well, the court screwed up in answering that question. corporations are a legal fiction. but I digress.
And that issue should be addressed again and reversed.
I amend my statement. The Constitution does not change, the Court just reverses incorrect decisions made by prior courts. See Brown v. Board of Education.

We have to cut defense, social security, medicare, and medicaid. And we have to raise taxes.
That causes pain and hurts a lot of people.
I don’t agree with cutting SS – people have been paying into that system ALL their working lives, since their first job at 15 at McDonald’s; and after 55+ years of working you’re going to tell them, “Ooops! SS WAS solvent, then, for no reason whatsoever we decided to “fix” it! So, sorry — all that money that you paid into the system for someone ELSE to enjoy their waning years will not be given back to you. Please put down your assault weapons”.
We can cut Medicare, since ostensibly, it should become part of Obamacare anyway — I’ll even agree to cutting Medicare, (using the same Obamacare argument); but SS?
I say, HELL NO – SS should be OFF the table.
If we cut anything lets start here:
GAs subsidies
Farm Subsidies
Paying mega companies like Southern Energy to build a nuclear plant — they want a new plant THEY can build it their damn self
Capital Gains taxes loopholes can be closed
Etc., etc.
There are literally MILLIONS of loopholes in tax laws for the upper echelon that can be CUT OUT, or REIGNED in.
But SS? I say, LEAVE IT THE HELL ALONE.
AARP should galvanize its (very strong), base with a war cry that says:
You’ll get my SS check when you pry it out of my cold dead hands!!

Only you FOXBOTS worship the President. YOU are the ones who call him the messiah, the anointed one, the savior, and sacrilegious swill such as that. Us thinking people know he’s just a man.
Oh and lies like you just wrote are what cost Romney the Presidency, only a few fools believe them as we saw during the election. When you can pay for my daughter’s education at Woodward and my wife doctorate at Vanderbilt speak up about Gov’t leaches. Methinks perhaps you are a big one.

17 in jail? Consolation is it won’t affect the outcome any… the torch has passed to the Irish.
Look at it this way – when did Alabama ever make any decent whiskey?

OMG, OMG, OMG the almighty one just admitted that he LIED on the blog. We must shut the whole blog down and have a day of morning because the almighty just lied and admitted it.
Simmer down little one. I didn’t realize your man crush went beyond the President to me. I’m just a mortal, not ‘the almighty.” Although I can see how someone with limited reasoning skills could come to worship a free thinker such as myself, your accolades are unwarranted.
You need not bow in my presence, a simple genuflection will suffice.

Must be sad to know that your whole life evolves around trying to find things to bash conservatives on a blog.
Proving your lies is neither “bashing” nor difficult. It’s more like shooting fish in a barrel.

If we go over the cliff, payments to doctors and hospitals under medicare will be reduced. They already loss money on every medicare patient they treat, and make up the difference on the rest. Some have to high a concentration of medicare patients and will not be able to make up the increased losses. They will have to stop taking medicare patients.
More pressure then on the emergency rooms.
Must be some other way to cut medicare without cutting back payments to doctors for office visits.

I guess that diet/exercise regimen you were talking about awhile back has yielded surprising results. I’m only managing a ~8.30ish minute/mile pace on my long runs.

I try to have a day of morning every day.
A day without morning is like a day without sunshine. And a day without sunshine is like night.

Free thinker = secular humanist Marxist. That old theory has been proven over and over again to not be the answer and proven to destroy nations. No thank you. BTW: I would be more then happy to say that one to your face.

I’ve said before: if we’re gonna cut SS then cut it for current retirees and, say, 40 and over ’cause they’re the ones voted in the politicians that screwed it up. No sense punishing the children for the sins of the parents!

This one actually has history going against the Tide. Notre Dame has won two titles against us in games played in Miami. Even if Bama had to sit 17, the bench is strong enough to make it a competitive game.

dB: Really? an 8:30 ish mile over distance? At YOUR decrepit age? Good job bro. I’m still so fat I’m tread milling. I’m not going to try jogging for a couple more weeks. And when I do, I’ll be happy to make 3 miles without stopping. I’ll use an hour glass to time it.

There you go with your lies again. I am neither a secular humanist, nor a Marxist. I am a Christian and a firm believer in our form of Government.
Do you ALWAYS have to lie and spout phrases that you don’t understand? Let explain it to you pal. When God created man, he gave him FREE WILL. I use my free will to think for myself. You use yours to become a programmed puppet for Rush and Fox abandoning all pretense at free thought.
The very fact that you equate free thought with humanism and Marxism shows just how little you understand any of the concepts, free thought, humanism OR Marxism. Wow, rarely do you see someone prove so completely how little they really know. You are a shining example of puddin’ heads everywhere. A poster child for how talk radio and FOX have completely dumbed down their dwindling audience.
Thanks.
