I wonder if John McCain feels even the slightest twinge of shame over his McCarthyesque campaign to torpedo Susan Rice. Probably not. The McCain who might once have been capable of such decency hasn’t been seen in Washington in many a moon.
It’s important to make it clear that Rice wasn’t targeted because she’s a woman or because she’s black; those defenders who make such claims do her a disservice. Instead, she was targeted because she could be. McCain and his merry little band haven’t been able to lay a glove on Barack Obama, the man who denied McCain the presidency four years ago, and their increasing irrelevance has made them frustrated. But Rice? Rice was somebody they could handle.
That’s because, as U.S. senators, they had something that Rice wanted. She needed their permission to become the next secretary of state, should Obama decide to nominate her to that post, and that made her vulnerable. Through deception and ginned-up righteousness, McCain and his pals at Fox proceeded to turn Rice into the face of a Benghazi tragedy in which she had played only the most peripheral of roles. Like a husband who is angry at his wife but kicks the dog instead, they smeared her as a proxy for Obama.
Yesterday, with Rice’s withdrawal from consideration, they got the scalp they wanted. They “counted coup” on Obama, even if indirectly, and I guess they proved to themselves that they still mattered. But to a lot of other people, they proved something less flattering about themselves.

As long as DC Dems keep giving in to the bullies across the aisle, they’re gonna keep doing what they can get away with. The best way to stop a bully is to punch him/her dead in the mouth hard enough to make him/her swallow their own teeth. Until Obama and the Dems throw that punch, these theatrics will continue.

No her confirmation hearing would have been “squandering such precious time.” She would have never been confirmed. She knows it, Obama knows it. She withdrew to save his reputation. I am not for term limits or anything else like that.. However, I can truthfully say that I would like to see every single Senator and Representative fired today; start completely over. While the machine might stumble to begin with, eventually something would get better. There is no compromise, common sense, or putting the country first. It is all about who can stab who, and then claim some moral victory. The “fiscal cliff” as well as many other isuues are totally bogged down in the politics of the day; the country be damned. If it was not this Rice fight, it would something else that involves egos and bullsh*t. So many go on the news acting as iff their ONLY concern is the wellbeing of the country. Each party, in my opinion, has become largely a bastion of extremists (both ends of the spectrum) and the well-being of the country has been out on hold. Be it Rice, war, taxes, or membership in the Left-handed One-eyed Ethiopian Co-pilots Association there is nothing more than rhetoric, dogmatic stances, and an in general process of party extrems first, then perhaps a little governing. What is it gonna take?????????

I’m going to repeat what I said last night “downstairs” because I still feel the same way and in my eyes my comments were still relevant:
D.IA. – Who knows if that’s why she withdrew her name. But what I think we both know is that this whole “Its RICE’s FAULT” theme was just some Bushsh##t used to obfuscate, confuse and distort the REAL republican agenda of trying to do anything and everything to make Obama look bad.
Rice recognized that — and since she’s an old friend of Obama’s decided to do the “patriotic thing”. Patreus stepped down, not because of Benghazi, but if ANYONE was more at fault it would’ve been HIM and not HER; yet not. one. Word. from the elephants on the far fringed right about HIS failings on Benghazi.
If I was her, I wouldn’t have bothered to withdraw my name — I would’ve let the WORLD see how damn low a republican senate would go just to make political “gotcha” points.
I would’ve done a Clarence Thomas on their azzes and called it a “High Class Lynching”. I would’ve given them a fight, that would’ve made WATERLOO look like child’s play. I would’ve hollered about how the republican party wanted to make me their scapegoat MAMMY, while turning a blind eye to the person [read that as white anglo MALE] who was in charge. I would’ve came into those hearings wearing Red, White and Goddam BLUE with stars in my ears, (diamonds); and Jimmy Choos on my feet; and the biggest diamoned flag pin i could find. My nails would be done, and my hair would be FIERCE! I’d have my whole eclectic multicultural family in the pews behind me. I’d have my father, brothers and sister in law wear their uniforms with their medals pinned to their breast; and have my retired Marine Corp Captain, Husband in full dress blues with HIS medals on.
I would’ve taken the veil off of the republican party for the WORLD to see. I would’ve shown them up for the testosteroned thugged out hoodlums that they are. The TRUE desecrators of the Constitution and freedoms.
When I got through, nominated or NOT nominated, I would’ve given them one for the history books.
If you’re gonna go — go out fighting.
These past 4+ years the republicans have been looking high and low for an Angry Black Woman to parade in front of the world. They lost with Michelle, they lost with Susan, but Debbie would’ve given them something much worse, I’d have given them the Scorched Earth Syndrome woman.
If they think they’re gonna drag me down, I’m taking everyone with me.
There’s this line in an old Denise LaSalle song, (blues singer) – the title of the song is “Hey Lady Your Husband Is Cheating On Us”
In it, she says, “Before I bow out gracefully, I’m going to tell EVERYTHING that I know”.
That would be ME at those confirmation hearings. I would dig up dirt on every republican there and wait until all the cameras were on me so that I can REALLY make a scene.
Fox News would have to flip over to Greta doing laundry or something…….
Add on for today below:
I read somewhere once, (can’t remember where), that the reason why MLK was so acceptable to a lot of diehard segrationists was because of Malcolm X.
King talked of peace and non-violence; Malcolm talked of payback and giving violence WITH violence. Malcolm approved heartily of creating social change with violence; so compared to King, King was the more palatable choice.
I would’ve shown the Conned that they REALLY don’t want to see what a ABW (with TS Clearances and who knows the people who know your business); could do.
AND They would’ve thought twice before they picked on another “Susan Rice” in the future. Bullies are only bullies until someone whips their azz – then their just punks without a cause.

We still don’t know all the details surrounding the Benghazi attacks. After the news broke of the attack the White House changed their story back and forth (even though they had drone video footage of the entire attack), and sent Susan Rice out to tell their stories.
Susan Rice either participated in the cover up of what really took place when she went to all the talk shows, or she believed in the notion of a spontaneous protest due to a youtube video (which I find hard to believe because she is an intelligent person).

This is a direct result of politics as usual for the Senatorial traitors, McCain, Graham. It is the same tired politics of racism and misogyny that is the hallmark of being a dedicated republican. The same treason that was afoot when, McConnell was selected again to be the racist in chief of Senate republicans, instead of censure and expulsion. It is time for recalls, these sad patricians need to be taught a lesson, their pensions need to taken away. They need to pay for medical care. Curious.
Actually McCain has undercut his own position on the US role in international affairs.
McCain, if you recall, has blasted the Obama administration for its failure to be more directly involved in both Libya and Syria. And the irony is that in the Obama administration it was Susan Rice who was pushing Obama to be more directly involved in Libya and Syria. Now McCain will probably end up voting for John Kerry as Sec of State. And it was Kerry who was pushing Obama to stay out of direct involvement in Libya and Syria.
So McCain has a “victory” over Obama, if that was what he was after. But he lost one of the few intellectual allies he had in the administration.

“Like a husband who is angry at his wife but kicks the dog instead, they smeared her as a proxy for Obama.”
What a perfect metaphor for Graham and McCain. I find it hilarious the country considers Graham a moderate. Center left of Jim DeMint does not a moderate make. Susan Collins is a moderate. However, with her 6 year term coming to an end in 2014 she needed to be cast in a different light lest Karl Rove and other overspending groups align her in their cross hairs. The boys club needed a woman to seal their victory, Collins needed a badge of intolerance; ignorance flair that she could pin on her suit for her next election fight against the intolerants who would try to unseat her.

Yeah, I think Collins had a more influential impact than McCain on sinking Rice. The public couldn’t use the “anti-woman Republican” meme in that case, and it doesn’t hurt that she’s a moderate. My problem with Collins’ position was that she only said Rice raised more questions than answers, but they never really got to dive into them.

Dude, that’s a huge difference. Hell, that’s like the Falcons defense going to the game of their opponent a week before they play them and knock the hell out of the starting quarterback in anticipation of what he “might” do the next week against them.
This is NOT the same tactics as before. There have been attacks done by both sides, but at least previous attacks were done on ACTUAL nominees, not somebody who MIGHT be nominated.
As to intestinal fortitude, I think she showed more “Country First” by stepping out of the way than anybody else in DC has ever shown. The people who work for DoS don’t need that kind of drama, and if your Republican crushes (See, I can do that BS too) were already dogging her now, what do you think would happen to that department and the people working there if she were actually nominated?
State has people in damn near every hotspot on the globe. Beyond ambassadors and such, you have security personnel who put their ass on the line everyday. These things tend to get lost in these political games, but yeah, you keep on believing this is the same as before.
Glad to see you’ve quit trying to hide your partisanship. At least you’re finally being honest about something.

Good morning looters. Let’s see what Bookman nonsense stirs up the old peanut gallery today…oh, it’s the attack on another Republican this morning. Once again, the face of liberalism. You myrmidons all know the drill. You all will join in with your hateful critique, hit the new leftist sound byte of “angry old white man” thing, and Fox News is a conspirator in the campaign against the Obama regime.
Common sense will tell you boys and girls that Susan Rice carried the water for the Obama cover-up and carried the lie so badly that the outcome was inevitable. You might say that when you play with fire you are going to get burnt. She did nothing more than you myrmidons do with Bookman and she ruined her chance of being Sec. Of State. Well, liars aren’t held in high regards for that position.
Put away the torches and pitch forks. Go lick your wounds and play nice. We still recall the tap dance your side did on the former Attorney General under GWB and the 8 year assault on GWB to get to where you are today. You liberals are such hypocrites. The first time McCain ran for president I would have voted for him even though I vote Dem more than not. A veteran, a man of principle, he was really someone I could identify with.
No more, he has pandered and compromised and pretty much sold his soul to the republican right in hopes of, and it has cost him everything.
The fact that he deep-sixed Rice, but selected Palin for VP says it all about John McCain, and/or the people he has surrounded himself with. A bitter old man, irrelevant in the Senate, who needs to step out of the way and let some of the forward thinkers of the day take over; What a sad ending to a once proud veteran.

Really , this attack on Rice was not about Obama or Rice. it was about John Mccain trying to sound tough with the Fo- follower crowd, who distrust him anyway. This is just a a Made for FOX event and does the president little harm. In the long run it will tarnish the McCain legacy. McCain is frustrated with the answers he was getting ( he said as much) and truth be told, this attack blindsided the state department and CIA who forgot that there are people in that part of the world who REALLY hate us – -believing in stead that the help we gave Libyan rebels would somehow protect US. The truth is that the administration cannot bring back the dead and most americans will not blame Obama. This frustrates the heck of of JM.

Interesting article on the continued crap plight of african american men…guess the GOP is to blame here as well…
“Once upon a time, liberalism was about something more than the marginal tax rates and the interests of the middle class. Leaders such as Hubert Humphrey, Robert F. Kennedy and Daniel Patrick Moynihan focused national sympathy on marginalized groups. Moynihan gave sophisticated attention to African American males in his 1965 report on black families in America.”

I’ve seen that idea tossed around the internet at different places. If it was me to decide who to nominate, I’d find somebody way off the radar just to piss off the establishment. I’d have to make sure it’s somebody that they would look like idiots if they tried to go attack mode, but somebody who they would hate to nominate.
In all seriousness though, I think the president should be able to nominate and have his picks confirmed without all this crap unless that pick has a serious criminal issue or some issue that specifically impedes their ability to do the job they’re being nominated for. The whole idea of the nomination process has been so f**ked up that I think it’s useless now. Then again, most anything a politician gets involved with ends up being f**ked up anyway.

So Rice shows up on the Sunday morning talk shows citing incorrect information from our intelligence community and she’s torn apart but McCain quotes incorrect reports on Iraq’s WMD’s and we get 5000 Americans killed and he’s still in Senate? Maybe time for McCain to take page from Rice and do ride off into sunset.

RE Rice’s chicken letter, she’s clearly being kept from the hearings for reasons political.
As mentioned she would be a better choice than others, but she is hiding from or being directed away from process…at least if she was allowed, or had the stones to stand up to these dopes, I’m sure she’d clear the air…maybe.

Jay,
The bizarre part about the Susan Rice situation is her political views lean toward interventionalist / NEOCON on foreign policy, which matches McCain and company……verse Kerry who is more old school and conservative about getting involved in foreign entanglements, and is now the nominee via the attacks by McCain and company. This is typical Washington, we debate all the bs and avoid policy. What we really need is a debate on the roll of the USA in the world. I will give Ron Paul credit for being the only candidate to bring this up clearly on either side. I would not go as far as him on foreign policy, but I definitely lean way farther his way than the NEOCON view……….

Here is my take, The Repubs knew that if Rice was knocked out of contention they could expect Obama to pick Kerry for the nomination, thus opening a Senate seat in Mass. They want control of the senate and will take it one seat at a time if the can. Now we will see if Brown has a chance to regain his seat in the June special election. So, nothing personal here just power politics played by the goon squad.

Nothing is new under the sun in D.C., and this is 100% political.
In an attempt to seize momentum in a power vacuum within the GOP (since the death of Reagan, ha ha), McCain has struck out against a superlative diplomat.
The real reason: the Republicans want Sen. Kerry to give up his seat in MA so that the biggest loser himself Scott Brown can run for it in a special election against whomever Gov. Patrick appoints.

The torpedo job on Susan Rice is equal parts spite and plotting. The GOP wants Scott Brown back in the Senate—he sounds moderate but always votes Tea Party. They think he’ll win if there’s a vacancy. But the Democrats plan to run Markey, who’s pretty popular in that state.
This is mostly vengeance on the part of McCain et al. They’ve been beaten soundly, and part of their retribution is taking out one of Obama’s favorite appointees. And they still haven’t given up on whacking Social Security and Medicare—see Real Clear Politics.com for a good rundown on this issue. There’s nothing like holding a pair of deuces and playing as if you’ve drawn a royal flush.
Let’s go over the cliff. It’s better than allowing the Republicans to beat up seniors. People will adjust to the higher taxes, and a good cliff-dive will restore some humility to the arrogant Republicans.

Between the fall of 2002 and the spring of 2003, NPR’s Tavis Smiley interviewed Rice four times about the Bush administration’s looming war with Iraq. I’ve spent the better part of an afternoon listening to those interviews and I still can’t tell whether Susan Rice supported the war or opposed it…………

Can we who are rational please dispense with this ongoing “does Obama have stones” drama? Obviously the man who said “please proceed, Governor” has courage and a willingness to pick and fight some tough battles. This must not have been one he especially wanted.
I’ve called Obama an “a$$hole” exactly once—it was when he announced verrrry quietly, I think over a weekend that he was ending his membership in Trinity United Church of Christ, back in ‘08. I was furious at him. If ever there was a hill he should have been willing to die on, it was over his own freedom to worship where he chose, and I was certain that he was being a coward. Did I mention I was furious?
It generally sinks in sometime later that the “god damn America-gate” thingie, or the “butthurt over Benghazi” business, it isn’t about me, or you, or what we dirty effing hippies want.
It’s about the course Obama and (now that he’s President) his Administration are trying to chart. We have little beyond the first clue of what their actual must-haves / nice-to-haves / ok-we-can-fall-back-here lists look like. I don’t mean that as a knock, it’s just what it is, in any Administration.

This is bigger than her qualifications….By Rice being denied, Kerry is the next allegedly in line. That would open a Senate seat… and McCain is a friend of Scott Brown, who recently lost his seat. Obama is in bed with Al Qaeda in Syria and Libya-that’s who’s running Libya since Obama’s illegal war in that country, and his illegal murder of Qaddafi-in collaboration with Al Qaeda!
And if you want to accuse someone of “McCarthyism”, why don’t you go after Obama for the NDAA,? I think it was a deliberate plan. The Republicans were smarting from the election smackdown. The Dems wanted to show the American public, just how bad the Republicans can be…so that when 2014 comes around, the Dems will be able to show the American public (along with the budget cliff discussions) on how incompetent the party of “no” can be. Kerry was the candidate all along, and Rice took the fall, to embarass the Republicans. Rice will re-appear…in a better position somewhere in the Obama Cabinet, AND the Clinton Cabinet. Remember, she took the bullet for Mrs. Clinton as well.

Rice withdrew at Obama’s request in hopes the situation will fade to black. Her confirmation hearing would have made public things Obama prefers not.
You can demonize McCain and whoever you want. That does not change the fact that Rice knowinlgy and intentionally participated in a coverup just before the election to protect Obama. BTW, there are more Congressmen than McCain, Graham and Ayotte who think she did and would not support her as SoS.

I honestly do not think it was ever Pres. Obama’s intention to have Rice as Secretary Of State to begin with. Ever cynical, I TRULY believe that the Administration simply allowed the whole ordeal to take on a life of its own, much like he did with Romney in debate 2. Give the media and the Right Wing something to froth at the mouth over for a couple of weeks or so, while you work in the background to shore up the situation for when Kerry takes the position, lest the GOP find a way to slime their way into the MA senate seat. That’s my estimation of it.

For starters, here’s from The Black Agenda Report:
A Second Wave of Genocide Looms in Congo, with Susan Rice on Point
“Susan Rice has abetted the Congo genocide for much of her political career.”
“Rice said not a word about ethnic cleansing and racial pogroms against black Libyans and sub-Saharan African migrant workers.”

It was during the Bush administration that the black face in the high place joined in committing the worst kinds of dirty work to be carried out by the United States around the globe. Spent a couple of days sitting in doctor’s waiting rooms this week having to listen to the Fox talking heads. The one time I was alone in the waiting room, I asked the receptionist if she would turn off the TV. You don’t need to go to Waffle House for breakfast and listen to the liars table talk, just do 10 minutes of Fox and you know what the conversation will be as you pour the syrup. Same goes for reading all the post on these blogs. There are major problems in this country and the roots are no where near the White House. If “these people” would just remember two things before they open their months it would save them from confirming their foolishness: 1. The South lost the Civil War, we are “one nation under God” and 2. None of the Romney’s Day One actions are going to take place because the President won the election. Not to put too fine a point on it, but Rice has a well-honed reputation for self-promotion considered excessive even in DC, where throw-granny-under-the-bus ambition is a sine qua non, she plays poorly with others, and is too blatantly beholden to the President to be effective at Foggy Bottom. She is a very typical DC animal: a bright person with proper pedigree who excels at excelling and gets places fast through personal loyalty more than skill. If this marks me as a racist and/or sexist in the eyes of bien-pensants, by saying what is well known to countless persons inside the Beltway, so be it.
———————————————————-
Susan Rice’s Imperial Credentials
Washington Post contributor Dana Milbank headlined “Susan Rice’s tarnished resume,” saying:
She’s “ill-equipped to be the nation’s top diplomat.” It’s for reasons unrelated to Libya. She “managed to make an impressive array of enemies – on Capitol Hill, in Foggy Bottom and abroad.”
She’s an equal opportunity offender. She doesn’t care who she insults. Perhaps her chickens are coming home to roost.
Rice has close ties to Rwanda’s US puppet leader Paul Kagame. Washington trained him at Fort Leavenworth, KS. She’s also connected to Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni. He recruits child soldiers. He trains them to kill.

JohnnyReb the Democrats actually have Secretaries of State that do something. The Republicans had alienated the world to the point the Secretary of State’s phone wasn’t ringing much. One way to keep out of harms way is not go to work, lock yourself away from the world, except when you are heading to war or lying about mass destruction to the UN like the Bush’s administration set Powell up to do. You ever notice the duped person with these Republicans is always a black person. “Let Mickey eat it he will eat anything”, what a party.

Dear Haters: Say what you will about Susan Rice. She’s no longer a candidate for the job, so it doesn’t really matter. Not that anyone outside your circle (and by circle I mean your stuffed animals and your talking back to Sean Hannity’s image on TV) really cares whether you approved of her or not.
The truth remains that Barack Obama is your President for four more years. And Hillary after that. And then probably Elizabeth Warren after that. And they will continue to appoint cabinet members who reflect their positions – you know the nuanced philosophies that you don’t comprehend and so resort to calling “socialist” and “gutless.”
But go ahead and load up on GOP leaders in your little fiefdoms of ignorance. Your feelings will never reflect the values of this great nation. Far too many of us have evolved for you to be relevant on a national level.

Someone had to take a fall. Rice was that person. She was the lamb sent to the slaughter by the current administration. Missteps on the Benghazi affair put her at risk and she paid for not having an administration that stood behind her 100%. If this pre-appointment wrangling put her ill-at-ease, then we did not need her as head of the State Department. She would not have been thick-skinned enough for the job. Better to opt out now than to not be able to handle the heat later. It was a good move on her part. It is not a question of just McCain being behind it, one must ask how the administration could leave her to her own devices if they so wished her to be Secretary of State?

OK, I’m going to throw several layers of the truth here and for liberals, the truth hurts. Let me be the one to repeat these facts: “Miss” Susan Rice, is arrogant, incompetent, lazy and simply dangerous to democracy, pure and simple. The United States Secretary of State’s role is to protect the nation’s vital interests throughout the world. The role was never created to appease dictators, thugs and jihadists — as “she” clearly intended it to be when “she” interviewed with Senator McCain and Senator Graham. If an arrogant, incompetent “woman” were to interview with me and displayed such foolishness to me, I would eject her from my property quicker than a jack rabbit running from my warm rifle. OK now, calling her what “she” is not mean-spirited or even racist. To call these correct labels “racist” as naive secular socialistic folks like Jimmy-Jim Clyburn and Al Sharpton lamely attempt to do is bogus and I would go even further and call them what they rightfully are: racists! Yes, Clyburn and Sharpton are racists just like Louie Farrakhan. Amen, Bill

In your instance there is verifiable proof that both people are in on the robbery, even if one only holds the door. To date, nobody’s produced any tangible evidence to show coverup or to show that Rice was a willing participant in a coverup. All Rice’s attackers have is their opinions. Opinions are fine to have and share with others, but opinions won’t get you a conviction in a court case. You have to have facts. When anybody starts to produce facts, then I’ll pay attention. Otherwise, the opinionating is nothing more than the white noise a tv makes when the station goes out.
When you or anybody else can prove her guilt, I’d love to see the evidence.

Rice (in true lapdog form) was sent out by OB or his close team of Axelrod, Jarret, etc. with this announcement.
Under oath testimony on Benghazi was going to come out at her confirmation which they don’t really want out there.
It’s all part of the ongoing Beghazi coverup. The longer OB can keep the facts (on Benghazi) from coming out, the better.

You’re impossible, Jammie. If I post “the sun is shining”, somehow you make that out to be racist because it fits YOUR stereotype. It’s from the same toolbox as “if the only tool you have is a hammer….”. I guess when you’re out of relevant discussion, call ‘em a racist, right Jammie?
But just so you’re clear on where I stand with the black community, let me make it perfectly clear for you.
I think the black community needs some leadership to follow that will actually take them in a positive “get an education and make something of yourself” direction. Al, Jesse and the good reverend Wright ain’t it.
I think African Americans need to stop separating themselves and just be Americans. Being an American doesn’t need a qualifier. Besides, very few of them have ever been to or will ever go to Africa. And if they did, they would likely conclude they had no idea what “poor” really looks like.
Making excuses for people who are capable of helping themselves is NOT helping them, Jammie.

Thought of the Day: Since Susan Rice withdrew her name as a candidate for Secretary of State…..Obama should NOT select John Kerry…..he should select John McCain!! Here’s why: it puts McCain’s Senate seat up for grab…and Richard Carmona should run for it! Then McCain would HAVE to work with Obama and follow ORDERS pertaining to policy….something McCain can NOT set on his own!! Then, Obama can FIRE McCain for going off-the-reservation…….

Nice little history re-write Jay. Susan Rice became the face of Bengazi because she was part of the story. Bengazi is a brutal attack that resulted in the first death of a US Ambassador since Carter was President. Susan Rice because she went out on talk shows did become the face of what, based on facts that are starting to come out, a flat out lie by the administration. The idea that what happened was due to a video and not a designed attack. The more that comes out the more plain it is that someone failed, Obama and his team tried to deflect and the story fell apart, the story continues to fall apart even though the media and such Nobel men like Jay Bookman try to cover. What do I mean how about a simple; we don’t really know what happened and we are trying to determine it before we speak out. That was Obama a week or so after. Then why have Rice out there right way telling the tail. And yes Mr. Bookman if she is willing to tell the lie, she has no business being the UN ambassador much less the Top US diplomat, she has proven that she is just a partisan hack.

Obviously, Rice’s comments on the Sunday morning talk shows was less than accurate.
Did she decide on her own to lie? I doubt it. Someone gave her the intel.
We now know that the Intel agencies knew that her statements were false; yet, she went on the shows. So…who gave her the marching orders? Better yet, why did she go on the shows? Shouldn’t Hillary be the one speaking for the State Department?

Susan Rice is a wife, mother, philosopher, career diplomat and asset to the United States Diplomatic Corps. Notice the absence of the characteristic, “politician” (I omitted race and gender because not only are those qualities federally protected, but should never be an excuse or advantage). Her withdrawal from consideration as Secretary of State is a loss for the American people. Her remarks during her tenure as President Clinton’s senior director of African affairs after the 1994 Rwandan genocide have proven prescient-”I swore to myself that if I ever faced such a crisis again, I would come down on the side of dramatic action, going down in flames if that was required.” The information she gave in reference to the tragedy at Benghazi was that which was given to her. The hypocrisy and vengefulness of those who engaged in a vendetta to prevent her from serving as Secretary of State does not discredit her fitness to serve in that capacity; it is a Pyrrhic victory at best. Vice-president Biden, during his debate with Rep. Ryan pointed to the austerity measures that Republicans in Congress inflicted on the Diplomatic Corps; it is the charge of the Diplomatic Security Service to protect members of the US Diplomatic Corps. Today, roughly 2,000 Diplomatic Security agents guard 275 American embassies and consulates around the globe. That works out to a whopping seven agents per facility. Unlike a US embassy, the consulate in Benghazi, and any other US consulate, does not have protection of the US Marines (who are at embassies to protect US property, not the occupants of the building).

Jay,
have you ever bothered to go through her track record while at the state. How about when she was sent home from an assignment. her academic record is impressive, her record at the State department is not. She picked some real winners in Africa right.
When you go out on national TV and mislead the country, whether is be deliberate or not, you are not suite for the head of state, combine that with a horrible record and you get objections. This was the right decision.
I wish you would write with some thought instead of being a blatant partisan. It really is tiring. Contribute to society with some real thought, not what is pushed from the WH media room.

When in hell are we gonna stop giving that senile SOB – McCain – a pass? The a-hole called Rice, a Stanford grad and Rhodes Scholar, ‘not bright’…the guy that got into Annapolis cause his Daddy and Graddaddy were Admirals, ‘graduated’ in the bottom 1% of his class, got into flight school, again, cause of his Daddy, crashed about a half-dozen planes due to ‘pilot idiocy’ even before he got shot down – and even then didn’t have the sense to ‘punch-out’ properly, thus busting his shoulders to the point he had to be dragged out of the water (by North Vietnamese), then, ultimately, said what his captors wanted him to, dumped his disabled wife for a Budweiser distributors daughter who then bought him a Senate seat, was pictured as marginally competent as a Presidential candidate in Game Change, but still managed to give the world that Palin woman…and he’s calling this lady ‘not bright’?

Although racism is the elephant in the room, I think that racism is really fear and intimidation between tribes, or ethnicities. People need to be taught more than reminded about black people in the diaspora, and reminded more than taught about settlers of diaspora. With leading examples such as St. Augustine of Hippo (present day Annaba, Algeria) to Crispus Attucks, a black man, first casualty of the American Revolution, to Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright, decorated Marine and Pastor Emeritus of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, many black people have surmounted the difficulties of their society to embrace and defend its ideals. Just as there are people of goodwill and villainy in each gender and every ethnicity, each should be evaluated based on conduct, not gender or ethnicity. The concept of equality is not only identity, any more than integration should be assimilation. It’s incumbent on all of us to, without partiality or favoritism, use our time, talent, finances, resources for not only our interests, but also for the interests of others.

It’s a shame and appalling what John McCain did to Susan Rice. Ms. Rice is the REAL military and foreign affairs expert NOT John McCain. What McCain is. is a racist, dating back to 19880 McCain was one of a few senators that voted AGAINST the MLK Holiday. What McCain is besides from being a trouble making racist, is a dirty, bitter, jealous, hateful, warmongering, liar. There’s no room in Washington for underhanded politicians like John McCain. McCain is a poster boy for term limits and politicians like McCain is what’s wrong with the GOP party today.
