Is it still too late to save the Twinkie?
Earlier this month, voters in both Washington and Colorado approved referendums legalizing the use of marijuana, a decision that puts both states in conflict with federal law. The vote wasn’t close in either state, with the measures passing by a 10-point margin.
According to a new CBS News poll, the people in Washington and Colorado have a lot of company. For the first time since 1979, when CBS began asking the question, support for legalization equals opposition, and the trend line is clear, particularly when you look at the demographic breakdowns.

So far, President Obama has avoided taking a stance on the issue, which puts the federal government in conflict with an increasing number of states (18 have passed medical marijuana laws). Under U.S. law, marijuana is classified as a Schedule 1 drug, in the same category as heroin, morphine and LSD. But at some point in Obama’s second term, congressional action to address that conflict is probably inevitable.

Jay,
The only people provoking fights are your acolytes. They can’t tolerate dissention, so they resort to personal name calling and backhanded insults. Yet you say nothing to them because they succor your ego. If you can’t stand your supporters being called out on their ideological excuses for generational thievery, then maybe you shouldn’t have a public blog. Get thicker skin and tune out your butt hurt sycophant’s crying.

I’ve always supported the legalization of pot. I have often wondered why the “religious” among us have not. as it says in their Bible…”God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, AND OVER ALL THE EARTH, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”
—Genesis 1:26″

Mr. Dylan was speaking about being stoned as in stonings that used to take place the Bible, etc. (and still do in Islamic countries).
Can’t believe we are wasting time on this issue while the Anointed One is doing NOTHING about the cliff. $160 billion a year in tax increases, additional stimulus spending. Yep, that will close a $1 trillion plus annual deficit. Can someone simply be impeached for ‘not being too bright’? Legalize pot and tax the heck out of it, and if someone commits a crime under the influence of pot, prosecute the heck out of them. There will be plenty of room in prisons after they let those go that are in prison/jail for possession alone.
And, of course, Go Dawgs!

I’m 64 years old, I’ve been toking for about 40 years. I toke about 30 to 40 times a year, so much for the addiction thing. I seriously doubt that I’ll change in a few months when I turn 65. Pot enables you to cram the most relaxation into the shortest amount of time, it’s as simple as that. Pot would have been legal years ago if it wasn’t for the high paid lobbyist of the big drug companies. Lots of very expensive prescriptions will not be needed if pot is legalized.
