You can lead an elephant to water but ...
Some numbers:
– Thirty-three U.S. Senate seats were up for grabs in the 2012 election. Democrats won 25 of those 33 seats.
– Mitt Romney is going to the White House today to have lunch, not to check out his new crib. And the main reason he will have to dine and dash is because American women rejected both his candidacy and his party, voting for Barack Obama by a margin of 55-44 percent. The gender differential in most down-ticket races was even larger.
– The Republican-run U.S. House has 19 major committees. Next year, it appears that all 19 will be chaired by white males.

– The current Republican House caucus includes 24 women. Next year, that number will drop to 19.
– In the last three presidential election cycles, Americans under 30 voted Democratic by an average of 60 percent. And lest Republicans try to comfort themselves with the argument that it’s nothing new, that young voters always vote Democratic, it simply is not true. In the previous eight election cycles, an average of just 46.5 percent of young people had voted for the Democrat.
What does it mean? Generally speaking, younger voters who cast repeated ballots for a particular party tend to form a lasting affiliation with that party.

– On Wednesday, House Speaker John Boehner reiterated his caucus’s strong opposition to raising taxes on the wealthy. Also on Wednesday, a new Washington Post poll was released reporting that just 37 percent of Americans agree with the position that Boehner and others have made the central focus of their party’s economic identity.
As longtime conservative Bruce Bartlett puts it in his much-cited piece for The American Conservative:
“At least a few conservatives now recognize that Republicans suffer for epistemic closure. They were genuinely shocked at Romney’s loss because they ignored every poll not produced by a right-wing pollster such as Rasmussen or approved by right-wing pundits such as the perpetually wrong Dick Morris. Living in the Fox News cocoon, most Republicans had no clue that they were losing or that their ideas were both stupid and politically unpopular.
I am disinclined to think that Republicans are yet ready for a serious questioning of their philosophy or strategy. They comfort themselves with the fact that they held the House (due to gerrymandering) and think that just improving their get-out-the-vote system and throwing a few bones to the Latino community will fix their problem. There appears to be no recognition that their defects are far, far deeper and will require serious introspection and rethinking of how Republicans can win going forward. The alternative is permanent loss of the White House and probably the Senate as well, which means they can only temporarily block Democratic initiatives and never advance their own.”
Political power ebbs and flows. It always has and always will. But it doesn’t just ebb and flow on its own. It fluctuates because losing parties take stock of why they’re losing and adapt to changing realities. If a political party not only refuses to adapt but makes a refusal to recognize changing realities a central part of its identity, ebb and flow can be delayed for a long, long time.

Jon Stewart, for the most part, discusses real events but NO one believes it is real news except for the conned who also believe Fox is reporting unskewed news.

He is calling McCain and Graham hypocrites and then he shows the tape of proof. That’s what the cons can’t understand – how a tape shows proof and how we libs tape everything you Cons spit out yer pie holes.

Republicans owe the re-election of Obama to the large turnout of the lower class. They feel the middle class still voted Republican. They have no plans to work on the lower class (that’s the 47% you know). Democrats (e.g. the diversified party) will fight to save Medicare and Social Security who benefit the white middle and upper class – and who voted for Romney (talk about irony). Lastly, what’s the big deal on raising taxes and those who make > $250K. The whole thing isn’t taxed at a higher rate. It’s only the income after $250K. It’s called a progressive tax system.

Thulsa just hit the nail on the head @1307. I’m sure the basic, moderate Republican is no more like the ultra right Republican that has taken over the party than I am Einstein, but this same Party says they alone are the Party of God, They alone are pro life, and only they alone can show the way. But here’s Thulsa calling living humans leeches. Is his Party really Pro life if they are willing to throw other living human beings out in the cold? What are these people supposed to do. Get a job? Good luck with that because the Party that will show us the way has cut educational programs to the bone and even if they didn’t, there are no jobs to be had. So call God fearing Christians of the Republican party wanting to hurt the living would be laughable if it wasn’t so terribly sad.

Do you realize that the most food stamp users come from “Red” states?
Cuts to Food Stamps will hit red states hardest

President Obama is likely to give in on select cuts that the antiqued white party’s mouthpieces have been telling them need to be cut for their own good including food stamps, medicare, medicaid, unemployment benefits, and retirement benefits for retired federal workers and veterans. After all, that is what Republicans want in exchange for the tax increases on the wealthy that are needed to help pay down their debt. It’s the least we can do for them.

It truly amuses me to go to conservative blogs and read comments, as I posted earlier. I love how conservatives whine and rant about “less government” when they are often the biggest government takers in our poorer red states. The rich do the same whining, but how do you think they got rich? The government provided the framework, the workers, the federal aid,the infrastructure, you name it. But once they get rich, they act like all they need now to do is live in a walled, armed gated community a la South Africa and all is well.

And if you point that out, they go so nutzoid they actually make their over-reaction to your common-sense comments the theme of their national convention.

The Democrats lost the popular vote in 5 of 6 presidential elections and in 1992 moved their party to the center and have since won the popular vote in 5 of 6 presidential elections.
Will the Republicans do the same?

It certainly *is* no way to go through life — which begs the question of why you’d want to stay that way and not be more like me.
We already know you drink, and we can read your posts here, so there are two of the three pejoratives supported already. And you’ve been complaining in recent weeks of filling your Speedo out too well, so I think that ‘fat, drunk and stupid’ label fits you a whole lot better than it does me, Cupcake. when DOES the richest, most powerful nation ever on Earth literally run out this “stuff” I keep hearing about?
I was thinking maybe I should lay in some root veggies, some canned goods, some water, ammo, etc. when we approach that date. Why don’t you let me know?

COLD SPRING HARBOR, NY–(Marketwire – Nov 29, 2012) – Management retirees of Verizon Communications Inc. ( NYSE : VZ ) have filed a federal lawsuit to halt their former employer’s plan to sell off 41,000 Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) protected pensions to the Prudential Insurance Company of America ( NYSE : PRU ) in exchange for providing Prudential with $7.5 billion in Verizon retirees’ pension assets. If the pension spinoff, which was expected to close in December, is not halted, beginning in January 2013, Prudential will replace retirees’ pensions with insurance annuities that are not ERISA-protected.

“Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) slammed the door Thursday morning on Democratic demands to raise tax rates on families earning more than $250,000 per year. “We’re insisting on keeping tax rates where they are, first and foremost, to protect jobs and because we don’t think government needs the money in the first place,” McConnell said on the Senate floor.”
Good job, Mitch. Resistance to the welfare state will ultimately be futile, but Americans should fight the good fight to the inevitable end.

Sure, all the minorities joined up and became the majority. So we are a nation of minorities, many of whom are on welfare of one sort or another. doesn’t bode well for the future of the country. But then democracies always fail because the entitlement class will eventually outstrip the contributors. Keep on enjoying yourself kids, but the money will dry up and then you will be eating each other.

As these blog posts clearly demonstrate, America will remain stagnant well into the decade of 2020. Neither party is willing to take responsibility for their respective screw ups and choose to blame someone/something else rather than doing their job… No one wants to talk issues anymore, everything is just snark, “suck it ,” and idiotic catchphrases pumped into us by the RNC, DNC, DailyKos, and Drudge.
The national deficit is the single most important issue facing the U.S. and no one seems to understand that it will take compromise, rather than a hardline approach of strictly taxing the rich or massive spending cuts, to get us out of the ridiculous hole both parties have gotten us into.

For all you gloating Moonbats, here’s a sobering fact courtesy of Bill Whittle.
Despite all the things Republicans are accussed of doing badly, many from the keyboard of this blogs author and followers, the Country remains almost divided in half as to political party preference.
To be back in power, all we Republicans have to do is a few things right and the balance shifts to us.
So, it is not the gloom and doom Jay and the Left wing propaganda machine puts forth. It’s still a matter of about three million votes in the right place.
If I was a Moonbat, God forbid, I would be more interested in fixing things to meet voter expectations than wallowing in short-lived glory.
