That was a lovely picture. I think of the ones, isolated, poor, berfit of friends, the floatsam and jetsam of society. They are in need of a friendly greeting, an acknowledgement that they are worthy of being part of humankind.

One of my daughters flew to Denver to her in-laws. Was 69 there yesterday.
Hope it doesn’t come a snowstorm between now and Sunday.
Flying has become a holiday ritual.
Good news, she will spend Christmas was us here.

Well, I don’t reckon she took one of the Cumming area and Simpsons Trailer Park. It would be nice to see home from the air.

Anyhow, it won’t be long till the trailer is filled with the smell of roasting turkey and beer. I hope everybody, even the libruls, have a Happy Thanksgiving and I can’t hardly wait to hear the sound of weird music tomorrow evening.

Many of our old traditions are fading away …………. this is just one:

I miss the traditional Wednesday evening “prayer service” before Thanksgiving Day.

In the small North Georgia communities I grew up in years ago, it was often a joint meeting that rotated each year between the Baptist, Methodist and Presbyterian churches including black & white congregations.

We all met together and it was a genuine time of heartfelt thanks to God that set our hearts right for the next day.

I like a late Thanksgiving dinner, so the bird just went into the roaster. 90 minutes to go! (and for those who missed my post yesterday, not it’s not a turkey…since it’s just me this year, I’m doing a “mini” dinner and roasting a Cornish hen)

Have been repeating the mantra: Every day, in every way, I am getting better & better.
Anybody know the source of that?

Gmare,

The application of his mantra-like conscious autosuggestion, “Every day, in every way, I’m getting better and better” (French: Tous les jours à tous points de vue je vais de mieux en mieux) is called Couéism or the Coué method.[3] The Coué method centers on a routine repetition of this particular expression according to a specified ritual, in a given physical state, and in the absence of any sort of allied mental imagery, at the beginning and at the end of each day.[citation needed] Unlike a common held belief that a strong conscious will constitutes the best path to success, Coué maintained that curing some of our troubles requires a change in our unconscious thought, which can only be achieved by using our imagination. Although stressing that he was not primarily a healer but one who taught others to heal themselves, Coué claimed to have effected organic changes through autosuggestion.[3]

Mick – 8:45 – finally went to see Canterbury Cathedral last year – was completely enraged when I heard about all the beautiful woodwork, stained glass and artifacts that the Puritans destroyed. Plus, even in the small parish churches all over the country, beautiful carvings of the saints were defaced (quite literally) by the people who thought that the Anglican church was still too Catholic for their liking.

so, the whole myth of “religious freedom” is just that. a myth.
