Israel hopes this cease fire will last and that they can finally live in peace with their Arab neighbors and Iran.

Hammas announced this war was just a prelude to “the complete liberation of Jerusalem”.

And yet, many of you here still blame Israel for all the violence and deaths that keep occuring in this region.

No doubt, you’re the same bunch who are so desperate for a lighter shade of pale in the White House.

Okay, class, it’s time for a history lesson.

Freedom of, and from, religion was first established in what became the United States of America, in 1665 with the promulgation of Locke’s Carolina Charter and its provision of “equal rights of citizenship for Jews, Heathens and Dissenters.” Carolina was an early success. Jews came in such numbers that by the first census one of each six counted was Jewish. The contribution of the Jews to that success was such that when Oglethorpe set up his colony in Georgia, he requested of the London Sephardic rabbis a list of Jews who would come to build the scientific, legal and commercial infrastructure for his thieves. Boats two and three to Savannah brought these immigrants. The first male of European descent to be born in Georgia was Philip Minis, born into a Spanish (Ladino) speaking Jewish family and who would, himself, go on to be a Revolutionary War hero. His Mama, Abigail, died at a ripe old age, the richest woman in North America and who, interestingly, left it all to her daughters, making the point that her sons could make their own way.

Also taking advantage of the Locke provision for religious liberty were the French Huguenots and their contributions to the development of Charleston and South Carolina was such that early on the city became a center of refined culture and hearty commerce. The Heathen element made its profound contribution as well, but that is another lesson for another time.

And Oglethorpes thieves?

Venice? Possibly if not worse.

Warsaw? That’s going way overboard and is patently absurd and uneducated…quit spouting the “party line” and consider what you’re saying. And when I say party line, this is the comment I hear over and over and over…that’s one whale of a difference between the ghettoization of the Venetian period and the Apartheid (which the Israeli policy most closely resembles) and the Warsaw ghetto…hyperbole is not your friend…

“Gaza is no Warsaw Ghetto

Pointing out that the suffering endured by Gazans is not comparable in scope to the Holocaust or other well-known genocides, does not diminish it. However, it is crucial to provide accurate historical context to the current conflict, for two reasons.

Firstly, the use of highly charged historical comparisons that do not hold up to scrutiny unnecessarily weakens the Palestinian case against the occupation.

In a propaganda war in which Palestinians have always struggled to compete, handing Israel’s supporters the gift of inaccurate or exaggerated comparisons does not help this struggle, particularly not in Israel and the US, the two most important battlegrounds in this conflict.”

The majority of people in Gaza I believe feel the same way. If they have hope for a life there where they can raise their families they will be satisfied.

Remarks by the President at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum

“We must tell our children. But more than that, we must teach them. Because remembrance without resolve is a hollow gesture. Awareness without action changes nothing. In this sense, “never again” is a challenge to us all — to pause and to look within.

“Never again” is a challenge to reject hatred in all of its forms — including anti-Semitism, which has no place in a civilized world.

“Never again” is a challenge to defend the fundamental right of free people and free nations to exist in peace and security — and that includes the State of Israel.

“Never again” is a challenge to societies. We’re joined today by communities who’ve made it your mission to prevent mass atrocities in our time.

And finally, “never again” is a challenge to nations. It’s a bitter truth — too often, the world has failed to prevent the killing of innocents on a massive scale. And we are haunted by the atrocities that we did not stop and the lives we did not save.”

Guess who ?
