Time to set politics aside and ROCK!

Well, we made it through that week more or less intact, which means that the time has come to turn to more important things, things that aren’t dependent on politicians and voters and campaign strategists. Things that unite us, not divide us.

Here to kick off the festivities is a young man from Austin, Texas, where they claim to know a thing or two about the blues and blues guitar-playing. His name is Gary Clark Jr., and he’s in the process of pulling off something that hasn’t been done in a long time, which is becoming a more or less mainstream musical star by coming up through the blues scene. He even has a supermodel girlfriend to show for it.

Ladies and gentlemen, liberals and conservatives, I give you Mr. Gary Clark:

Mark Ferrandino was selected to be Colorado’s Speaker of the House. California and Rhode Island have openly gay House speakers, and a lesbian lawmaker will most likely become speaker in Oregon.

Long way from there to here…in so short a time…

As I said, happy as a dead pig in the sunshine.

Okay, gonna go a little political and a little shmaltzy here for a moment. When Michelle Obama was pulled on the carpet for saying it was the first time in her life she felt proud to be an American, I had my problems with that. Wednesday, though, I got something of a new take on what I think she meant. What I felt, though, was an exhilaration that, for the first time in my life, I felt that my fellow Americans felt proud of ME…

We owe a great debt to those at Stonewall…

Okay, looks like everybody had rather jabber about some old f*rts bit of nookie on the side than play and listen to music, so I’ll go ahead and bid all a fond adieu. I’m in a good mood and want to stay that way…will catch up with the links on ipad (if there are any) and watch me some Frasier or Seinfeld reruns…

josef,

The FNMT has always been a myth where people marked time until it was safe to go at each other again. Putting up a new thread for people to go at it would take precedence even if it went up 3 minutes after the music one. The only way Jay could have escaped that phenomenon would be to have bumped the time stamp on the music thread to send it to the top.

So in more important news, I know where the Seinfeld reruns are on but where is Frasier? Right now I have Deadly Women on and I’d hate to let my wife see some crime she thought she could perfect on…

Corbin, Johnsons’ covers of Jimi’s style are truly impressive…

And in my opinion, that Hendrix cover of Dylan’s legendary song is the greatest single cover in all of rock history.

Nothing touches it. (CCR’s cover of the awesome Marvin Gaye is a distant, although astounding in it’s own right, second…)
