Ten years ago, Karl Rove was being celebrated as — was celebrating himself as — the architect of what he called a permanent Republican majority.
Today, not so much.
In the 2012 cycle, Rove spent some $300 million of other people’s money and accomplished not a damn thing with it. These are not people who appreciate spending a lot of money and getting nothing in return. They were led to believe that their money would purchase politicians who would return their phone calls immediately. Even more important, they wanted their investment to instill a good healthy fear in those in Washington who otherwise might cross them.
Instead, they got U.S. Sen.-elect Elizabeth Warren.
Of course, the real Wizard of Oz moment came Election Night on Fox, when Rove performed his epic meltdown over the numbers coming out of Ohio. If that did not permanently damage his reputation more than the losses themselves, it certainly cemented it.
You see, a good political strategist has to be willing to listen dispassionately to what the data tell him. He does not yell angrily at that data, like a distraught husband refusing to believe that his wife just left him. In that moment, Rove exposed himself as the petty figure that he is.
As Dorothy Gale, D-Kansas, famously put it, “Why, you’re not a wizard at all, you’re just a man! And you’re a very bad man for pretending to be a wizard.”
And after that, as I recall, the defrocked wizard floated away in a balloon, unable to steer a new direction because “I don’t know how it works!”

“So you say that you don’t have enough popular votes? That’s no obstacle. Why, I’ve elected presidents who had no more popular votes than you, but they had one thing that you don’t have: a supreme court willing to commit treason and actually perform a coup so that foreign influences could get us mired in decades long wars……So, by the authority vested in me by the military industrial complex, I hereby present you with the presidency, but you’ll have to invade the Islamist Munchkinland of Iran.”

Jay is right about accepting realities. There seem to be four that the right-wing of the Republican party will not accept. 1) Women are not returning to the kitchen barefoot and pregnant 2) Gays are not going back into the closet 3) Hispanic families are not returning to their native land 4) The white majority will continue to decline until it disappears.

And how do you get a customer base if you don’t have a business?
Seems like you don’t understand supply vs demand. You don’t build the business and then get the customer base. You build the business BASED on the customer base. Any attempt to do otherwise usually ends in failure.

Who says that some of us on the right aren’t secretly giddy over Obamas re election? If you’re thinking ahead and you believe we’ve already passed the point of no return wouldn’t you rather have a potus of the opposite party when the whole system crashes? Make them learn their lesson about big gubment.
As for demonizing a president for trying to do what he thinks is right I think people confuse criticism of failed policy with demonizing the person himself. I don’t see why you bring up George bush anyway with the demonization issue.

Taxpayer, I found myself in a conversation prior to the election with someone “who assumed I was one of them”. I mentioned I was not entirely sold on the Romney/GOP tax plan and could be more comfortable with it if he would get more specific on what would be eliminated and how that would offset the rate reductions. Did I get any kind of response that would indicate a back and forth negotiation of what would be good, bad, or other and how it could work? No. Instead I got a long winded rant about Kenyan-Marxist-socialist, not a citizen, Rev Wright, Greece, takers, & muslims. So you may be right in that I have no idea how to negotiate with the GOP. As a wise man once told me..”the whole problem with your approach is you are trying to deal rationally with irrational people”.

Willie, “Now the electorate about the southern states will have to take responsibility for the tax increases and the layoffs. Its going to be pandemic.”
The truly sad thing is, all those “free” healthcare recipients are going to pay every dime of their $4,000/year healthcare policy in the form of price increases for milk, eggs, gasoline, bread, their happy meal, shoes, etc. and never realize they’re losing ground for it every day. Many of them will have their work weeks cut from 40 hours to 30 to get them under the “full time” limit and will still face those price increases. And there will be no pay raises to cover it.
Anybody want to bet on any of that?

You can’t take the Senate. You can’t take the White House. You’re going to lose the SCOTUS sooner or later. Dems are collectively outpolling the GOP in the House. And by 2020, you won’t even have a *hope* any longer in the House,

Did he fraudently get in our get help by dishonestly applying as a Kenyan? Was he a subpar student who only got in due to affirmative action? Is Josef a wingnut? You DO realize that the transcripts of his grades won’t answer that…don’t you?

So how did he then get into a good school like occidental? And then Harvard? Did he fraudently get in our get help by dishonestly applying as a Kenyan?
He probably got in the same way people like W get into Yale and Princeton. You do remember that Obama’s grandmother made it up the ladder working in that bank, right? Who’s to say she didn’t pull a few strings for her grandson?
Is Josef a wingnut? Because Josef wanted to see his transcripts to see what he studied, why he studied those subjects, and his grades. I think its fair to ask to see his transcripts for all these reasons.
I haven’t called anybody a wingnut over the transcript issue. I just don’t see how or why they have any bearing on a presidential election. We don’t pick our presidents based on their college majors or grades. When we begin to do that, then that question is a valid one.

If Deal has the audacity to turn down billions of dollars to expand healthcare for Georgians, perhaps he’d better start packing his bags to join Rove on that balloon. We’re sick of this idiocy.

Harvard Law school is always down with putting incompetent law students as the head of Harvard Law Review
They found it helps their reputation and enables them to charge the astronomical fees that they do to be educated there.
