CIA chief Petraeus quits over admitted affair

images-19

Didn’t see this one coming.

CIA Director David Petraeus, who as a four-star general led the “surge” in Iraq that allowed a somewhat graceful American withdrawal from that country, has resigned.

In a letter to CIA employees, Petraeus wrote:

“Yesterday afternoon, I went to the White House and asked the president to be allowed, for personal reasons, to resign from my position as D/CIA. After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair. Such behavior is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organization such as ours. This afternoon, the president graciously accepted my resignation.”

I’m sure that in some quarters, this surprising event will be linked to some sort of conspiracy theory. (And sure enough, Rupert Murdoch steps up to make the claim).

murdoch

I have no trouble believing that Petraeus withheld the news until after the election, out of respect for the process. But the notion that a man as reputation-conscious as Petraeus concocted or agreed to tell a personally shameful story like this as cover just doesn’t make sense.

There’s no indication whether the other party in the affair worked for the CIA. If so, it compounds the seriousness of Petraeus’ error. But either way, you can’t have a person in that job with that kind of personal secret to keep.

It’s a sad way to end an illustrious career, although I doubt this will be the last we’ll see of Petreaus in public service.

You’re right gators — this whole thing by Patreus is just a cover up for his gay affair with Hillary Clinton (a known drag queen).

They fell in love quickly, instantly and forever when he looked into her/his eyes and saw everything he ever needed and everything he ever wanted.

With Hillary he could dress up or down (get it) to his satisifaction — no more pretending to like blue jeans!! no more pretending to like girls!! Now he was free, free to be who he really was!!!

I’m sure he didn’t mean for it to come out like this…………..but some things……..some things you just can’t stop!

You can’t stop chemistry, emotions, and a really really good conspiracy theory!

Amazing the kinds of things you find out right after elections. Patreus shooting at something, drones being shot at by Iran…and so on. Well, for the life of me I can’t see why a man like that would cheat on a woman as good looking as Holly Petraeus. Testify to what? Dude first off if it’s something that is Sensitive information then he CAN’T testify; because it’ll be a problem for National Security.

Secondly, the cons are not crazy enough to call a “special investigation into Benghazi”. they may have it Mittens won’ but they won’t now.

NOW they’re tasked with getting the economy back on track – they’ve wasted a bunch of years playing politics; the election has shown them that the public is sick of that.

So they won’t risk their (cough, cough) “careers” with this ^^^ Patreus resignation stuff. They’d get crucified by the polls and the public.

my mother has been dead over 20 years RB, thanks for asking. You going to try to insult my wife and daughter next? I mean that IS what you big strong republicans do, you pick on women.

In what world do you think ANYONE “feeds” me chief? I’ve been incorporated over 20 years. I’ve been living off the gravy I earned for the last 10 and only worked when the urge hits me. I actually did some work today as a matter of fact. Man that was a rough hour……….

You sad bitter little man. you need to try to portray everyone else as “non workers” so you can feel good about yourself. I pity you, but I know it’s the way of the trailer park. You are a deluded fool lead on a string by talk radio and Fox news. You lack the ability to think for yourself so all you can offer is tired lies and baseless accusations. They don’t work. Haven’t you losers learned that yet?

Your group is getting smaller and smaller as more and more of your members and former members are waking up and seeing to their everlasting shame how stupid they were. They look at hate filled lie infested diatribes like the one you out here and grow embarrassed that they were a part of it. Do you pay for my daughter’s tuition at Woodward? Do you pay my wife’s tuition at Vanderbilt as she completes her Doctorate? Did you pay my taxes? I doubt that you could foot the bill for any two of those, much less all three. But you keep telling your lies and preaching your hate. Eventually your tiny little heart will explode from all your hate and we won’t have to listen to you any more.

May that day come soon, because frankly, I’m tired of all you hate spewing, traitorous, talk radio sock puppets spewing your treason and lies and bringing down my Country. We neither need no want you. Just go away. The day I am reduced to counting on churls such as yourself to pay my bills is the day I slit my wrists.

Actually, I’d kind of like to know why he DID resign. He can’t be allowed to be CIA director while keeping an extramarital affair secret. But once the cat is out of the bag, who cares? I don’t know enough what special rules apply to the CIA to know if he has violated one, or whether the affair was with a CIA officer (therefore one of his employees) or worse, a foreign national, or his wife told him she’d take him back if he’d agree to retire, see a counselor, and putter around the house where she could keep an eye on him. Or maybe it’s something else entirely and Petraeus and/or Obama would rather use the affair as an excuse for his resignation rather than going into details about whatever the other thing is. If he’s subpoenaed to testify about Benghazi, of course he’ll give truthful testimory about that regardless of his employment status. I wasn’t thinking of Benghazi when I suggested there might be other reasons. I was thinking more along the lines of a personality clash between Petraeus and Obama, or between Petraeus and one or another of the president’s close advisors. Or some decision Petraeus had taken at the CIA that Obama didn’t like. Or some decision Obama had taken that Petraeus didn’t like and wasn’t willing to support through the orders he gave to the CIA. Personnel issues are often a reason for someone to resign, and if you add an affair on top of it, that can be the last straw.

No, I think he really had the affair and he had reason to think it was going to come out. He had to cop to the affair before it showed up in the New York Times or something.

But as several people have pointed out, having an affair — heck, having a long-time mistress — isn’t usually reason enough by itself for someone to resign. He can be blackmailed as long as it’s secret, but once the secret is out, his job performance is no longer compromised.

However, if there was some deeper problem in addition to the affair, no reason to air ALL the dirty laundry. Blame it all on the affair and keep his personality clash, insubordination, misuse of CIA planes or credit cards to take his mistress to Paris — whatever the personnel reason — out of the light.

“What regulation is that, 0311? And it the President subject to it?”

If you have an affair with a subordinate employee under your direct chain of command it is a violation of the minimum standards of conduct and a firing offense. I have seen it happen and it should have.
Taking place on government property and/or on government time adds to the offense.

Clinton should have voluntarily resigned (as an elected official) but instead he put himself above all the other federal employees he supervised (the president gets a federal check just like everyone else).

The route therefore was impeachment. It failed to carry and that was also was a disgrace.

There are? There is? So you’re finally going to tell us “The Regulation” you alluded to in your 5:59 with “He violated the regulation that every other federal manager would have been fired for. ”

See, you keep going off on all these tangents, trying to make a case, but you never, ever address your initial contention that Clinton and all other federal managers are subject to “THE” regulation and everyone else would have been fired for what Clinton did.

You’ve backed yourself into a dead end in a rabbit hole, 0311.

1. Make an assertion like “Clinton was a federal manager. There is a regulation that all federal managers are subject to. Clinton violated the reg. He kept his job. Every other federal manager would have been fired.”

2. Person asks “what regulation is that?”

3. Claimant responds with personal experience, anecdotes and how he thinks life should be.

4. Person asks, ’so it’s just your opinion, no regulation that applies to all?”

5. Claimant responds “of course there is. Look it up. I won’t give you a citation. I’ll just tell you to go through all the regulations published.”

See, 0311, you do that, and all anyone sees is a white flag.

I don’t see how you’re reading it differently than I did.

“Clinton is a federal manager. Every other manager would have been fired according to the regulation that applies to all federal managers.”

When one uses the term ‘every other’ in reference to an employee group, it means the person under discussion is part of the group.

As you will see from the subsequent posts, I was just trying to get 0311, as I have on previous occasions, to provide a reference when he makes a specific claim alleging something as fact.

I’d specifically asked 0311 if his point was Clinton was excluded from the group of ‘federal managers’. He did not address it so I took it he was in fact making that case, but that Clinton did not suffer the same penalties as every other federal manager would suffer.

But every other federal manager would not have been fired, as I pointed out, so it was just one more in a string of assertive statements with no evidence of fact to support them.

Sometimes I just like to see how long it takes him to directly support or address that which he’s alleged. The record is somewhere around three or five pages, which began with his comments on when life begins and abortion. THAT was a doozy! Rabbit holes galore!

Keep, more from that great article…

…Makovsky Wall Street Reputation Study of financial industry marketing execs in which 81% believe Wall Street pay will continue to batter the industry reputation.

…the Gallup survey in May that discovered that fewer than one in five Americans trusted big business nor the poll of high school students by the University of Arizona in August that found that 75% agreed with the following statement: “The stock market is rigged mostly to benefit greedy Wall Street bankers.”

But for gawdsakes, let’s not have any agitators protesting against our “monied corporations”.

I hope we shall crush in it’s birth, the aristocracy of our monied corporations, which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength; and to bid defiance to the laws of their country.” First published in Ford’s Writings of Thomas Jefferson in 1892

Some of you folks are mean and ugly. Fred “trademark” and getalife come to mind. Sorry to burst your bubbles but MONEY wins elections.

I’m not very political. I’ve noticed over the years that besides money a broad message appeals to a greater audience. Right now most people lean to the democrats. When the republicans realize that the hardcore religious right and lunatic fringe (Tea Party) hold too much sway they will change the message (appeal). Until then enjoy the triumph (sic). Remember we are all people that share this country. It would behoove all to come together as Americans. God Bless the USA. God Bless Barack Obama.

Sorry, but if you lived in the real world you would know there is always gray.

That’s why we have so many thousands court decisions on the 4th, 5th and 6th Amendments (and numerous other laws) wherein circuit judges and appellate judges rule in all kinds of shades of gray until finally after several years of litigation a Supreme Court decision finally settles it on a 5 to 4 vote.

Then it becomes black and white.

There is no indication Petraeus broke any agency rule in connection with his admitted affair, sources familiar with the matter said. The CIA has no broad rule banning officials from engaging in extramarital affairs though, if discovered, liaisons by CIA personnel with suspected foreign agents would pose security problems for a U.S. agent, Reuters also reported.

Damned stupid, CIA director has an affair, damned stupid..no jay, he’s toast, very sensitive position (nod/nod,wink/wink) with potential blackmail implications that puts the country at risk…damned stupid. Can’t put this kind of stuff in a contemporary movie, no one would believe it……Damned stupid

Thinking about this election, I am delighted, perhaps this will significantly quicken the pace where ALL americans, regardless of gender, color or creed will have an equal opportunity. Think about it , no quota to fill. Advancement by ability and accomplishment, no glass ceiling… Everyone with equal opportunity, the true end of Jim Crowe…..Colleges allow equal playing ground, all SATS are evaluated on the same level, hey, Harvard requires a certain sat score, you get it or you don’t, WOW. Let’s say my child wants to go into law enforcement, everyone takes the same test vetted by officials of all sexes and races, best scores get in, no if’s and’s or Buts. Marvelous . trans genders, gays, women , men, whites, blacks, asians, native americans, you name it-all in the same pot. Pick only the best…….Yep, that’s what I’m talking about…Really only the fair way to do things. I believe that this election has moved up the timetable significantly for this type of evaluation for all jobs. Think of the NFL, they don’t give a rats azz wether your black or white or green, they just want the best player on the field for that position, that way they win and get the glory and money. The best get the best, that’s what anyone should want !!

No favoritism, just plain performance and damn the phenotype, THAT is something we should all agree on and will achieve as we go forward and yes to you on the far right and far left, this election is a strong push in that direction!

CIA has “rules” and then they have “RULES”. A CIA employee in a sensitive position would be risking their career by sleeping around. The General had no choice but to resign if this was to become known to his subordinates. The only mystery now is how was it going to come out if he didn’t fall on his sword.

Resigned because of an affair? That is a good one!

Petraeus had emphatically denied that he or anyone else at the CIA refused assistance to the former Navy SEALs who requested it three times as terrorists attacked the U.S. consulate in Benghazi on the night of Sep. 11. The Weekly Standard and ABC News report that Petraeus’s denial effectively implicates President Barack Obama, since a refusal to assist “would have been a presidential decision.”This was all about Benghazi. He had been scheduled to testify next week in closed-door hearing about September 11 attack of U.S. Consulate in Libya. Now he will no longer testify as he’s left his position.

Bookman often laments the partison deadlock.
He forgets when it comes to war, violence, stealing money, and/or torture……..our congress usually agrees 100%.
.
In July, General David Petraeus was approved as CIA Director by both the Senate Intelligence Committee and then the full Senate, whose vote was an astounding 94-0, astounding because this is a man who was deeply implicated in war crimes, including torture.

While Petraeus’s record on backing both torture and death/terror squads in Iraq had been looked at before, literally no one brought up this record when the Obama administration’s nomination of Petraeus was being sped through the constitutional “advice and consent” process. The failure of any U.S. Senator to ask questions about Petraeus’s record on these matters demonstrates the utter bankruptcy of the two political parties, and even more, of U.S. civil society as a whole. Under the leadership of Barack Obama, torture has not only not been ended, its institutionalization has been solidified from the Bush years.
.

Despite the press maintaining its propaganda front, the US Syria policy is falling apart. Hillary Clinton’s efforts to create a new Syrian opposition in Doha were a disaster — she argued for a reasonable guaranteed QOUTA OF WOMEN REVOLUTINARIES (lol) among the jihadist beards and was shown the door, women’s studies major sympatizans being relatively rare amongst the jihadists. CIA efforts to assist the insurgents have proven not only a failure, but an embarrassment, as the oft-repeated line that US aid is “falling into the wrong hands” in Syria is looking evermore threadbare — seems there are no other hands, despite US desperate efforts to create them out of whole cloth.

What is the full story behind the Patraeus mystery? I do not know. But there sure is a funny smell in the air…
.
And Bookman thinks this guy has an illustative carreer.
I do agree with Bookman though…either party would want this pychpath.
He would fit right in.

This is my only comment about the election, and will say no more despite the obvious forthcoming race-baiting and other vile stupidity of the left.

Reprinted by permission from the author, he actually says it best:

In March 1997, police found thirty-eight dead bodies in a house located in an upscale community in California. Every one of the victims had committed suicide. The killed themselves because they had somehow or another managed to attain adulthood without developing a mind of their own.

They were all members of a cult in which the leader taught them they had to get off of earth quickly and the only way to do so was to hitch a ride with a comet that was going by that day. He convinced them to drink poison. He convinced them the poison was not a path to death, but rather it was a path to a better life in a spaceship that was traveling right behind the comet. By the time police discovered the bodies, they had started to decompose.

How could anyone be so dull? How could anyone be so stupid as to believe the foolishness this man had presented – Just because he told them it was so? Had they checked the facts at hand, they would clearly have seen the ridiculousness of the course of action the leader recommended – And, yet, they listened to him – Believed him – Followed him. They paid the consequences for their naive stupidity. We will too.

Before you start making fun of them … Are you one of them?

Today is the day after Election Day. If you turn on the TV or radio, you will hear analysts giving you all of the reasons why the president was re-elected. I don’t think they get it – I think I do. I am going to explain how it happened – And much more importantly – Why it is the start of the end of our nation. The president got elected because of three groups:

1. He had the black vote. He had the black vote no matter what he did or what he said. 96% of the black persons who voted – Voted for Obama. (Don’t you dare call me a bigot – I did NOT vote due to race – They did.)

2. He had the vote of the guilty white people. There is a huge group of white people who delight in saying things like, “They just want Obama out of office because he is black.” It makes them feel good about themselves. It makes them feel they are better than those of us who vote for the best candidate and don’t give a hoot what color he is. These people couldn’t tell you the issues if their lives depended on them doing so. (And, by the way – As a white man, I would have voted against George Washington if he had the record Obama had. I would also have voted against ANYONE who had Biden as a comic side-kick.)

3. All of the folks who I buy phones and groceries for, voted for Obama and Biden. All of the ones who I help with rent and all their other bills, voted for Obama and Biden. They voted for them because they know I am tired of them free-loading off of me. They knew that without their benefactors in office they might lose some of their free stuff. The problem is – There are so many free-loaders now that we can’t out-vote them.

So, here’s what happened. Group one, group two and group three have combined. They have become so powerful that we can never – ever – defeat them in any election. They will continue to grow. We will continue to shrink. They have taken over. We have lost. It is over. I didn’t make this about race, the liberals did. It is about all the persons who march to the polls to vote and have no FACTS other than, “I like him because he is black” or “I think he will keep giving me free stuff.” Conservatives have plenty of black heroes that we work hard to elect. What do the liberals say about them? They accuse them of being “Uncle Toms” of some other racial slur. Who’s the bigot? Let’s look at the facts.

Conservatives came together for this election. We voted. We talked and pulled and did all we could do to get the truth out to our fellow Americans. Still – We lost. We lost because a very charismatic leader was able to convince a large group of people that no matter what the facts indicate – There is a magic spaceship waiting for them. All they have to do is to trust the leader. Don’t bother to do the simple math that indicates we are absolutely headed for financial ruin. Forget the evidence that proves a cover up has occurred in the murder of our Ambassador.

Don’t believe Romney and do NOT check out the facts of what he says. If the President says he is not telling the truth – He MUST be a liar.

This was the last chance we had. We will never have this chance again. We gave it our best shot and we lost. We lost because we let this sneak up on us. Somehow, we woke up one morning and found out that half of our earnings go to support dead-beats. None of us remember voting for this to happen. I don’t recall telling any of my political representatives to make sure they took as much of my money as they wanted in order to pass it on to someone who didn’t feel like going to work.

I have no memory of agreeing to allow some human dog in heat to father all the kids he wanted and giving me the bill to raise his kids. We won’t even talk about the mother’s responsibility. If the father isn’t dead, in jail or working two jobs – His butt needs to support his own kids. What kind of nerve do you liberals have coming from the hospital with your new kid and presenting me with the bills for the birth and for raising the child? If I balk, you insist that the government help you. You have the nerve to DEMAND money from the government.

Who in the hell do you think provides money to the government? It is me. It is all of the other people who work hard and who have managed to take care of themselves and their children. The money is provided by all of the major businesses and corporations you deadbeats hate so much. Next time you demand the government pay for something – At least be accurate in your speech. Yell out, “I want some of the money that does not belong to me. I want some of that money all the hard working people make. Give it to me because I don’t feel like working. I WANT it NOW. Give it to me or I will yell louder and I won’t vote for you!!”) That’s the truth about Government Money and all you panhandlers need to know the truth.

I am in no mood for any of you crying liberals to accuse me of the things you will accuse me of. Speaking the truth does not make you a bigot. Voting for or against a person because of his race DOES make you a bigot, and that’s what you did.

I am not cold-hearted or cheap because I don’t want to help people who are too lazy to do ANYTHING except have random sex and eat. This is not a moral judgment – This is a financial decision. You do whatever you want. I don’t care. Just don’t ask me to pay for it.

Yes ladies and gentlemen – We have a serious problem. The deadbeats have figured out the electoral system. Vote for food. Vote for condoms. Vote for free everything. The government will pay for it if you elect the right person. And you know what? There is not a darned thing you can do about it! Too many people believe any fairytale they are told. I always thought that if our nation was destroyed it would be by an armed enemy. I’ll be darned – It turns out we are going to be destroyed by whining guilt ridden liberals who are too dim witted to look at the facts.

Let me know when you see the deficit go down. Let me know when you can afford gas. Let me know when you see our military become stronger. Call me when persons start taking responsibility for their own actions. I’ll end with the words of Thomas Jefferson:

“To preserve our independence, we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt …. I am for a government rigorously frugal and simple.”

OMG, Jay, you are such a hypocrite. Were you saying that Bill Clinton couldn’t possible continue in his job after his extra-marital affair IN HIS OFFICE? Heck no. Clinton was a Democrat, he can do anything he wants, and the left won’t care.

And yes, the timing is suspicious. Do you really find it that hard to believe that the administration pushed him to resign RIGHT BEFORE he’s supposed to testify before Congress about Benghazi? I’m not saying I completely believe that, but I am saying that if you don’t think it’s possible then you are incredibly naive.

Well, he SHOULD resign….because there are doctrinal and protocol issues to consider. What an amatuer like Bookman doesn’t quite get, is that when someone in power…like the Director of the CIA does something scandalous…it opens them up to potential blackmail. Spies/operatives have used ilicit sex as such an instrument forever. And you see, that made Patraeus a security risk. The admission of the affair does not erase the security problem—for making reckless personal judgement raises perpetual questions about what sort of other skeletons exist that are being manipulated out of sight. This is why it is common for corporate officers to get fired over affairs and other scandals…..the principal of compromised loyalty is at play.

Gladly, some are linking this story to the Lewinsky Scandal—because it is appropriate. Although every libtard rushed to Clinton’s defense saying “it was only about sex”; the same national security quandry applies. It wasn’t just Clinton’s foolish behavior, or his lying, and then perjury—the man imperiled security…and even more than Patraeus, because a politician is elected rather than appointed and relies upon public reputation; thusly creating an opportunity of having state policies set as ransom points by a potential blackmailer. Jay didn’t get that back then…or as a devout Leftist, excused it. Then again, without a media double standard, Democrats wouldn’t be in power over us right now would they!

Shame – yes. But even more strange than shame that the announcement came immediately AFTER the presidential elections. And just before he would be called to testify in the Benghazi debacle which, if I understand correctly from the news media that he will not longer be called to do. And waiting until AFTER the presidential election “out of respect for the process” – come on Jay. You can do better than that. Your liberalism is really showing with that conclusion. The proof of why and when the general made this announcement will undoubtedly come out in the future with the jobs he gets and the number of books he co-authors. But my bet is the liberal news media will not report those – considering them “non-events”.

Paula Broadwell, the alleged other person in the affair with General Patraeus was, herself, a graduate of West Point where she was named number 1 in physical fitness.
While in Afghanistan, she and the General were out running 6 minute miles together.
Ms. Brodwell spent many, many hours writing General Patraeus biography called “All In” The Educaton of General Patraeus”. She is 40 years old and the General is 60 and has a graduate degree from Harvad and married with 2 children.

One of the great things about the Democratic Party, we don’t come loaded with blurred images of our character limitations like some egomaniacs do. Quiet frankly one look at the General’s wife and I think he should have been given another of his many medals for lasting this long. Murdock and his bodyguard wife, whichever number she is, need to stand down on this one. I think Murdock sees a promotion here and that is his interest in the subject. Murdock’s mean wife verses this woman who has finished the most fit cadet at West Point, all state basketballer and triathlete . The cat fight of cat fights, Mohammad Ali vs. Frazier of the 21 century, what the hell attracts a man to any of these hairy women is beyond me but I still would buy a ticket.

The right actually puts in nomination everything but pedophiles to run for president and then challenge the credentials of Clinton or Kennedy. Granted the General was head of the CIA and it doesn’t bother me he has resigned from this sensitive position, but to think that this guy compromised anything is more wing nut thinking. If anything he was a nerd, who spent most of his adult life living this sainthood everyone else expects, from other people not themselves, and until he was famous never had this temptation come up. found this one interesting:

Dear Red States:

We’re ticked off at your Neanderthal attitudes and politics, so we’ve decided we’re leaving.

We in New York, Mass and CA intend to form our own country and we’re taking all the other Blue States with us.

In case you aren’t aware that includes Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, Md, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Vermont, the rest of the Northeast, and DC also.

We believe this split will be beneficial to the entire nation and especially to the people of our new country called “The Enlightened States of America” (E.S.A).

To sum up briefly:

You get Texas, Oklahoma, AZ and all the slave states.

We get stem cell research, the best beaches, and we’ll take all of the creative gay people you don’t want anyway.

We get Barack and Michelle, Bill & Hillary, Andrew Cuomo, Elizabeth Warren, and Dianne Feinstein. You get Bobby Jindal, Rick Perry and Todd Akin.

We get the Statue of Liberty. You get OpryLand.

We get Apple, Intel, Microsoft and all the smart technology. You get WorldCom, the Koch Bros, and all the coal/oil pollution.

We get Harvard, Yale, Columbia, UC, Stanford and Princeton. You get Ole’ Miss.

We get Silicon Valley, NYC, San Fran, Seattle and 85 percent of America’s venture capital and best entrepreneurs.

You get Alabama and Arkansas.

We get two-thirds of all the tax revenue. You get to make the red states pay their fair share.

Our aggregate divorce rate is 22 percent lower than the Christian Coalition states, so we get a bunch of happy families. You get a bunch of angry single moms and deadbeat dads.

With the Blue States in hand we will have firm control of 80% of the country’s fresh water, more than 90% of the pineapple and lettuce, 92% of the nation’s fresh fruit, 95% of America’s quality wines (you can serve Ripple at your state dinners), 90% of the best cheese, 90 percent of the high tech industry, most of the US low sulfur coal, all the living redwoods, solar power, the Sequoias and condors, all the Seven Sister schools, plus Harvard, Yale, Stanford, UC, UCLA, Cal Tech and MIT.

With the Red States you will have to cope with 88% of all the obese Americans and their projected healthcare costs, 92% of all US mosquitoes, nearly 100% of the tornadoes, 90% of the hurricanes, 99% of all the Southern Baptists, virtually 100% of all televangelists, plus Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck, Bob Jones University, Clemson and the University of Georgia.

We also get Hollywood and Yosemite, thank you very much. You get Appalachia…

You get the 38% of those in the Red states who believe that the world was created in 7 days and that Jonah was actually swallowed by a whale, the 62% who are pro-life for fetuses but not for the kids who are actually born or their Moms, those who believe life is sacred unless we’re discussing the death penalty or gun laws, the 44% who know that evolution is only a theory, the 53% who still believe that Saddam was part of 9/11 and had weapons of mass destruction, that Obama was born in Kenya, and the 61% of those crazy bastards who even believe they have higher morals then we do.

We’re taking all the good weed too. You can have that crap they grow in Mexico.

Sincerely,

A Citizen of the Enlightened States of America

The A-10 is best described as a “flying tank”. Many planes have sustained damage that would knock other aircraft out of the sky and still maintained their flying ability. These pictures come from one that was hit by anti-aircraft fire, which is generally more dangerous than any round from an AK-47.

Five decades of excellence and dominance.

60 wins and 3 losses in one five year stretch during the nineties!

More Academic All-Americans BY FAR than the very distant second place Notre Dame.

324 consecutive home field sell outs during those five decades of excellence.

The number one and number three greatest teams of all time. (The 1972 Trojans being number two.)

The A-10 is one of my all-time favorites, that and the P-51D. For their time in service, I don’t think there’s any thing that matches the capabilities of those two aircraft at all. Here’s a more detailed story about Capt. Campbell’s flight that day.

http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/Stories1/001-100/0016_A-10-battle-damage/story0016.htm

I’ve seen pictures that looked like someone took a bite out of the stablilizers, but I didn’t find the ones I was looking for. Today is a full family day. I’ll be out celebrating one of my niece’s birthday. I have no idea of where we’re going to eat, but the place had better have a tv capable of getting CBS if we’re out eating at 3:30 or later.

JamVet,

More than anyone? Come on now. Bama has 9 polled national championships including 8 AP national titles. As for OU I think they have 7 polled national titles- 2 more than NU. No offense to the Huskers but when I see different folks try to rank programs on alltime accomplishments some people have OU as top 1-3 and almost always top 5 alltime program. NU is usually a top 7 or 8 alltime program but I never see them rated as one of the top 5 alltime programs.

Could be a tough day. I’ve had this game today pegged as the most worrisome game of the season. One is that its the 5th straight conference game, 2 is that its the week after the big LSU game so we have to worry about the hangover effect, and 3 Texas A&M has been the hottest team in college football these last few weeks. We are definitely on upset alert. I hope my worries are misplaced but if we lose a game this season this would be the one.

Denial has poisoned the GOP and threatens the rest of the country too.

Mitt Romney is already slithering into the mists of history, or at least La Jolla, gone and soon to be forgotten. A weightless figure unloved and distrusted by even his own supporters, he was always destined, win or lose, to be a transitory front man for a radical-right GOP intent on barreling full-speed down the Randian path laid out by its true 2012 standard-bearer, Paul Ryan. But as was said of another unsuccessful salesman who worked the New England territory, attention must be paid to Mitt as the door slams behind him in the aftermath of Barack Obama’s brilliant victory. Though Romney leaves no political heirs in his own party or elsewhere, he does leave a cultural legacy of sorts. He raised Truthiness to a level of chutzpah beyond Stephen Colbert’s fertile imagination, and on the grandest scale. That a presidential hopeful so cavalierly mendacious could get so close to the White House, winning some 48 percent of the popular vote, is no small accomplishment. The American weakness that Romney both apotheosized and exploited in achieving this feat—our post-fact syndrome where anyone on the public stage can make up anything and usually get away with it—won’t disappear with him. A slicker liar could have won, and still might.

Even in the last 50 years I think Bama has more titles. We had AP titles in 61,64,73, 79,92,09, and 11. And we won the UPI national title in 78. UPI was of course the other of the 2 major polls at the time. In any event that’s 8 polled national titles in the last 50 years and I might be missing one since I’ve read that there are 9. The polls I don’t think started until 1936.

Now you can always have some idiot out there who may dispute that Bama has 8 or 9 polled national titles but all the idiot has to do is look it up.

JamVet,

As for the SEC being dirty, dirty, dirty perhaps you haven’t noticed what happened in the big 10 at Penn State or the tawdry mess at Ohio State which will be sitting home this holiday season. How Ohio State avoided even more serious penalties is still a mystery. And lets not forget Michigan when RichRod was there.

And while NU has largely maintained a clean image I think Lawrence Phillips undid a little bit of that as well as the numerous steroid allegations levied at the NU program during the Tom Osborne era. You’re not as squeaky clean as you like to think. Steroid abuse gives as much more of a cheating competitive advantage than recruiting violations can.

That would be the Koch brothers. They don’t believe in the same america that the rest of us do. They believe in the feudal system of governance where the very rich lord over everyone else.

I read a biography about them — didn’t know that they’re father made his millions from dealing with the russians during the time when russia was NOT a friend; and continued to deal with them after they were an enemy. Also their father despaired the integration of public schools, (as they do), saying it was the “b@#stardization of america”. Wish I could say that I feel sorry for you, but in spite of the Mr. T quote, I don’t pity the fool!

Doomy, I stand corrected. Bama has more titles in that time frame.

Bu they are certainly dirty…

In August 1995, the NCAA Infractions Committee claimed four violations of NCAA rules by the Alabama football program. Alabama cornerback Antonio Langham signed with a sports agent and applied to enter the NFL draft in January 1993. Alabama’s football program was placed on probation, suffered scholarship limitations, a one year post-season ban (1995), and forfeiture of eight wins and one tie from the 9–3–1 1993 season.

During the 2000 season, an assistant football coach in Memphis, Tennessee claimed that an Alabama booster had paid him US$50,000 to encourage one of his players to sign with the Crimson Tide.[123] Following the NCAA investigation, Alabama received a probation from 2002 to 2006, a two-year post-season ban (2002 and 2003), and the loss of 21 scholarships over 3 years.[124] A secret witness was later revealed to be Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer.[125][126]

On June 11, 2009, Alabama was sanctioned for textbook-related infractions involving 16 of 19 sports, including football. They were forced to vacate 21 wins from the 2005, 2006, and 2007 seasons and were put on three years probation, ending in June 2012.[127][128] The university stated “none of the textbooks or materials was used for profit or to get items not related to academics, and that the athletes involved who still have eligibility remaining have had to pay restitution.”[129] Alabama’s appeal of the ruling was unsuccessful.[130]
Mike Price incident

In April 2003, numerous news reports claimed that recently-hired Alabama head coach Mike Price spent several hundred dollars at a strip club in Pensacola, Florida, and that a woman ordered about $1,000 of room service, charged to Price’s hotel bill, which was paid for by the University. Coach Price was dismissed before coaching a game for behavior unbecoming a representative of the University of Alabama.[68] Following a Sports Illustrated article, which elaborated on the incident, Price sued the magazine for defamation,[131][132] and sued the University, claiming wrongful termination.[133] The lawsuit against the University of Alabama was dismissed and the lawsuit against Sports Illustrated was settled out of court.[134]

It’s all good though, you pull for the Tide and I’ll pull for the Huskers!

Do those who think Clinton should have resigned for his actions think Reagan, Bush Sr and Jr were good Presidents and should be looked at that way?

Reagan: Iran Contra selling of arms to a declared enemy of the state

Bush Sr: same as above. Should he even ran for President in 88.

Bush Jr deleting of millions of emails from mainframe at time investigation was going on. Use of personal email for official government business, coincidentally, on same issue related to deleted emails.

There is plenty valid reasons to say Clinton should have resigned, if you do not think the same way based on the facts related to the other three, you are nothing more than a petty partisan hypocrite.

JamVet,

Langham got pressured into signing on a cocktail napkin with an agent and he was thus ineligible and didn’t tell anybody what he did. It was later found out. One guy being pressured into a mistake doesn’t make a program dirty.

In the 2000 probation it all came down to 2 boosters who were alleged to have paid to steer a player to Bama. In this particular case the boosters were certainly in the wrong and once it was found out they were disassociated from the university. Also it was proven in court documents that the NCAA manufactured evidence in the case against Alabama. Furthermore what kind of a credible organization uses a rival coach as a “secret witness” against another program. This all happened when the NCAA began investigating UT and Fulmer offered to rat out the 2 Alabama boosters in exchange for the NCAA looking past UT. There is a reason why the NCAA has such a tawdry reputation. Their judgments are arbitrary and capricious and as Danny Sheridan points out this is a corrupt organization that would not withstand congressional nor public scrutiny. If you ever get a chance read Jerry Tarkanians book on the NCAA. He won a huge judgement against them for the same NCAA investigator Richard Johannigmeir manufacturing evidence against Tark. This same investigator later did the same against Bama and was also sued by Jackie Sherrill for again manufacturing evidence. To show you how despicable the folks are at the NCAA they threatened a Sudanese b-ball player at UNLV with deportation for him and his family back to war torn Sudan where they would surely be killed if the kid didn’t go along with mfging evidence against Tark. Only later when he hired an immigration attorney did all this crap come out.

Still we were wrong to have 2 boosters out of control but the reality is no program- NU included, can keep on eye on thousands of boosters.

The textbook case? Much ado about nothing. Several athletes in several sports were using a loophole in the textbook distribution system to get some free textbooks to help out friends who were having problems affording their books. No competitve advantage was gained, no money changed hands, it was just kids exploiting loopholes to help out a friend. Still wrong of them to do so but this is hardly an NCAA program gaining a competitive advantage.

Cheating through rampant steroid abuse over years and years is gaining a far more competitive advantage on the field is far worse imdo than any of these examples.

Most men that cheat don’t do it because of the looks of the spouse.

Bro, I decided to google, “Why do men cheat?” And this is what I got:

Top 10 Reasons Why Men Cheat:

Number 10 – Your lady doesn’t put out

Or it could just be that the sex has become boring. She doesn’t want to try new things in bed, or won’t perform fellatio. Some men may cheat because they don’t want their girlfriends or wives to perform certain sex acts that would ruin their “good girl” image, so they get a mistress to take care of it. Like Robert de Niro said in Analyze This , “That’s the mouth she kisses my kids good night with!”

Number 9 – She cheated on you

Number 8 – It’s challenging and exciting

If you consider the women you sleep with “sexual trophies,” chances are you have already cheated at least once in your life. Some men simply cannot leave behind the thrill of the hunt, the chase and the conquest. For other men, the excitement is in the variety, like changing ice cream flavors for one day after years of sticking to just one.

Number 7 – You can get away with it

Number 6 – It boosts your ego

Nothing lifts the old self-esteem like discovering that other women still desire you sexually.
What’s a guy to do when his girlfriend’s-a-naggin’ and opportunity comes-a-knockin’?

Number 5 – The opportunity was there

It’s an uncontested fact that most men can’t say “no” to sex. Although guys aren’t constantly bombarded with sexual offers, sometimes an irresistible prospect presents itself. Maybe it’s a frisky ex-girlfriend, maybe it’s a horny hottie on the dance floor. A guy may see it as once-in-a-lifetime occasion that might never be available again. Carpe diem , as they say.

Number 4 – Your girlfriend is a nag

Number 3 – Women let us
Truth be told, women are quick to forgive men for their unfaithful behavior. Just ask Bill Clinton.

Number 2 – She doesn’t turn you on anymore

Number 1 – You don’t love her anymore.

I also googled, “Why Do Women Cheat” and got this:

Because They Want To

Women don’t make up all those silly excuses like men. Its just a waste of time and they can be cheating with some other guy instead of explaining why they’re doing it.

Sad. But true……..

Yeah, like the Bama players were all roid-free?

No, I don’t think so

That book you turned me onto, said that by the late 80s virtually every program (even minor ones) in the country was using them to some degree or another.

More “dirt” on Bama…

According to Saban, those of us on the outside of the Alabama program can’t criticize him for oversigning because we don’t know the exact number of players he has on scholarship from year to year. Funny thing about that. Why don’t we know? Alabama won’t tell us, even though we ask every year.

Birmingham News colleague Jon Solomon requests a copy of the annual NCAA revenue and expense report from every Division I athletics department in the state. One of the categories on that report is number of student-athletes on scholarship in each varsity sport.

Every Division I public school in this state provides us a copy of those reports. Only Alabama blacks out the scholarship numbers for every sport.

We know from the latest form that Alabama reported spending $3,041,356 on football scholarships for the 2009-10 academic year. We don’t know how many players Alabama reported having on scholarship that year.

The News has asked Alabama several times to explain why it withholds information we believe is a public record. The heart of the explanation, from university spokesperson Deborah Lane: “Federal privacy laws prevent the University from providing the media with personally identifiable information related to its students.”

But the facts are irrefutable, the Southeastern Conference, has a scandal-rich history.

When LSU and Alabama met in last season’s BCS championship game, both teams were on probation for rules violations.

Yeah, it’s a serious question. More than one poster has made comments in reference to the looks of Mrs. Petraeus. I’m just curious as to what looks have to do with Gen. Petraeus boinking his biographer and then resigning.

Brosephus,

If you’ll indulge while I philosophize I don’t think posters making the comments about the looks are actually analyzing the situation as much as they’re just reacting to their own visual stimuli. It’s easy to look at the two pictures and decide which way one would go if they were A) afforded the opportunity and more importantly B) that they had no other prior considerations such as family, relationship, vows, assorted other entanglements etc. Then they’re just projecting that feeling of theirs onto the General.

DogGone — it doesn’t matter to the Football Rule Gods — no matter when the infraction took place, the current team has to suffer.

It was the same with USC AFTER Reggie Bush left and had been gone for 3 years; and it’ll be the same until the end of time. PSU doesn’t HAVE to be a part of Division I Football, they can resign and go over to Division II or III or IV.

However, if they choose to be in, they’re gonna have to live by the same rules as every other team.

Also, of note, PSU ACCEPTED the terms given to them by the governing board and decided NOT to fight.

You do a piss poor job of putting words in someone’s mouth. You should try to avoid it.

I’ve clearly sated WHY I don’t want to watch Penn State. ESPN/ABC/Disney has glorified Penn Sate this year like THEY are the victims instead of the criminals that allowed child rape that they are. They have televised EVERY PSU game this year. A large percentage of them have been on the flag ship stations, ESPN, ABC. They didn’t show Penn State this much when they were WINNING. Now? They are a 6-3 team. If ESPN/ABC were not glorifying them for child rape, these games wouldn’t be on. Period.

This is no different than the way ESPN Demonized Mike Leech because one of the anchors sons got his little fee fees hurt or the way ESPN demonized Elizabeth Lambert. They were wrong in all three instances.
