It really was much easier when Democrats ran Georgia and they just banned black people from voting via literacy tests, ones that I doubt half or more of the Dems couldn’t pass. Made for shorter lines at the polls for ignorant people that ran the state for 100+ years.
You are probably somewhat ignorant of American history, but look at words like “Abolitionist” and find how many Dems there were among them (you will be looking all night)…..

The best sign I saw was a very relaxed and confident-looking Obama at the volunteer center in Chicago. On the other hand, Romney seemed to be desperately trying to cover every inch of contested territory, dragging his wife along as if she were a prop to make him look better. How many points do you think he gets for having a pretty wife who mostly keeps her mouth shut?

What amazes all is the short term memory loss of a Republican… Under Bush we had the implosion because deficits don’t matter…. before he left office they were calling for a DEPRESSION, after just 8 years of a Republican in the White House.

In 4 years we have managed to get folks back to work stabilized the banking system and the economy…and we killed BIN LADEN.

Romney Invested In Company That Is Outsourcing Jobs, Forcing Workers To Train Their Chinese Replacements

Workers at Sensata Technologies, a business based in Freeport, Illinois, have been protesting Mitt Romney’s campaign stops across the country all summer because the company, which is owned by Bain Capital, is laying off workers in order to hire employees in China. Bain took control of Sensata in 2006; last year, it took over the Freeport plant and announced that it would layoff 165 workers and close it.

Some of the workers, according to Sensata employees, have been forced to train their Chinese replacements, adding insult to the injury that was their looming job loss.

“But it is in Ohio, where the polls in the race between President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney remain tight, where a key dispute is brewing. It centers on an emergency motion from a labor union and homeless advocacy group asking a federal court to clarify whether Ohio voters who cast provisional ballots – or the workers who process them – are responsible for incomplete or missing identification information on those ballots.

The ruling, from U.S. District Court Judge Algenon Marbley, will not come in time for Election Day. But he is expected to decide the case by Nov. 17, when Ohio counts provisional ballots.

The case is the result of Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted’s order last week that county elections officials should not accept provisional ballots if they include incomplete information on the type of identification the voter used to obtain the ballot.”

I can honestly say I have never eaten crow (thanks for the recipe). Hope I never will.
We will take it in the teeth of President Obama is not re-elected. No access to high risk pool health care, no reproductive rights, extreme limits on itemized deductions, include medical expenses under the Romney-Ryan plan. The 17K limit Romney put out there, as part of his plan, will be eaten up almost immediately with after tax cost of health insurance for two at 15K a year. YES, $15K before the huge deductibles are even taken into consideration. Here is one middle class person who is going to take in the teeth, to broaden the tax base, and lower taxes for the well to do. And, all this misery is just make sure the net result of Romney’s plan is tax neutral (meaning not a penny goes to lower the national debt). Dream on, the middle class, we are about to get screwed to the floor boards.

Georgia demonstrates Larry’s findings. Georgia voters are on average far less educated than other states, one reason SAT scores are so low. Would be fun to run IQ tests on the state. Obama voters will average about 115; Romney voters something below 85. Unfortunately the 85’s far outnumber the 115’s. Maybe we should pass Amendment 1; at least we could guarantee we’ll stay #1 in something: lowest SAT scores.

Our exit poll info about the economy:
More voters in the swing states of Florida, New Hampshire, Ohio and Virginia blame George W. Bush than Barack Obama for the state of the U.S. economy.

According to early exit polls in Florida, 53% of today’s voters say Bush is more to blame for the country’s current economic problems while 41% say Obama.

In New Hampshire, exit polls show 54% blame Bush while 41% blame Obama.

There’s less of a gap in Ohio and Virginia. In both states, 50% of today’s voters say Bush is more to blame for the country’s current economic problems. In Ohio, 41% say Obama is more to blame and in Virginia 45% say Obama.

gm, I’m white and voted for Obama and, while I agree that there is racism in GA – and it’s not confined to whites, there are a ton of people who try not to let their baser, tribal instincts rule their actions. A lot of people struggle to make ends meet and it helps them to blame someone else for their problems and to think that someone else is getting unfair advantages. Having said that, it would be an interesting experiment to see what would happen if black athletes refused to go to state schools in red states.

Pauline you’re right on when you say the Democratic party was first called the Republican party. It was also called the Republican-Democrat party, it was the party of James Madison and Thomas Jefferson. They were states rights advocates. The opposition was, of course, the Federalist party led by Alexander Hamilton. They were intent on giving the Federal government power. Interestingly Hamilton and Madison, who worked closely together on the Federalist Papers, wound up truly hating each other. Of course most everybody hated Hamilton, and nobody more so than John Adams.

George Washington was also a Federalist. How popular was he? In the final year of his second term he still had an approval rating of over 90%. That will never be rivaled. And his first Cabinet he had Henry Knox as Secretary of War (defense), Jefferson as Secretary of State and Hamilton as Secretary of the Treasury. No Cabinet has ever come close to that one nor will it.
