In the calm eye of the storm, a moment to contemplate

Last week we celebrated Halloween, a day on which little people seeking goodies dress up and pretend to be things they really aren’t, like superheroes and villains.

In the adult world, we call that Election Day.

As you might have noticed from that remark, it’s easy — too easy — to get cynical after these endless months of politicking and campaigning. Even worse, there’s reason to fear that in an election as close as this one, the wrangling may continue or even intensify after final votes are cast today, with judges, lawyers and courtrooms trying to resolve what voters and ballots could not.

So in this moment of relative sanity and calm, in these few hours in the eye of storm in which all we can do is wait, let’s talk about better, more important things. Because as I was reminded again last week, there is no better antidote to cynicism than a gap-toothed little five-year-old standing on your doorstep, bag held open and a hopeful look upon her face.

Delightful in its own right, it brings back a flood of recollection for all or most of us. I still have dimming memories of being a young boy in costume, the paper bag clutched in my fists growing ever heavier from doorstep to doorstep. It seemed miraculous that we lived in a world in which people I did not even know kept giving me candy for no apparent reason. And though I don’t recall it directly, I know that somewhere back in the autumn shadows, my mother and father were hovering, keeping a warm, parental eye on us as we made the rounds.

In more recent Halloween memories, I have become that young father hovering in the background, watching as my own children toddle up the walkway in costume to knock on the door. And one part I remember vividly about those years were the older couples who would come to the door and coo and chuckle, charmed by the few minutes they got to share with children.

This year, with our children up and grown, we have in turn become that older couple, happy to see wide-eyed little ones on our doorstep. I can look at the child and see myself there, and look at the smiling parent and see myself there as well. Every Halloween we play out the same scene, with the same stock characters. But unlike the Bill Murray character in “Groundhog Day,” who is doomed to play the same role day after day, the passage of time gives us the chance to play every role in that tableau, to experience the tradition from every perspective.

Professional actors and actresses lucky enough to have long careers know that phenomenon well. They often find themselves playing different roles in the same classic plays, from the ingenue to the young mother to the matron to the grandmother. But it’s true in real life as well. As Shakespeare reminded us:

“All the world’s a stage,

And all the men and women merely players:

They have their exits and their entrances;

And one man in his time plays many parts.”

Time allows you to experience life in the round, to see it and know it from every perspective. If time does bring wisdom, that is its source.

In the rest of that famous speech quoted above, Shakespeare writes of the seven ages of man, beginning with childhood and concluding in oldest age, when we turn again to childishness. It is a cycle, like so many other cycles, like the cycle of the seasons from late summer to fall to winter, and yes, even presidential election cycles. The end of one is the beginning of another.

And if that doesn’t frighten you, nothing will.

A voter named Andrew sent us his photos from his early voting
location in Baltimore, in Park Heights in Baltimore, where he said there
were more than 500 people in line when he was there to vote this weekend.
Andrew said it was more fun than a drag to be there because he said every
time the town clerk would shout out that there was a first time voter,
everybody in the whole line of voters would applaud for them, everybody
encouraging each other to stick it out and stay there.

Look at where they were. This voting site is a public safety
training facility. So, it gets police cadets. As hundreds and hundreds of
voters are lining up to wait, they have to pass in that hallway under these
banners set up for Maryland police cadets.

These banners, the first one says, as you can see it here,
“integrity.” And then they get a little further down the line and the next
banner says “courage.” And the last banner they pass under in the voting
line, 500 people before they go to vote in a gymnasium is a banner that
says “honor.” And then everybody cheers for the first time voters.

We are used to calls to civic responsibility at this point on the
American calendar. When we get asked by candidates, when we ask each other
to go vote, we`re asking each other to do something that is honestly
inconvenient and sometimes time-consuming and difficult — something that
has individual personal pay off.

But it`s something that your country needs you to do. Your country,
your city, your state needs you to do this thing.

I lost a childhood friend last march, saw him the night before he died. His life is now a bookend, mine gets to flow onward.
If I don’t realize right now the blessings of time and what to do with it, then I’ll have not learned a thing. In this world there are many battles to fight, one needs to choose wisely the ones that matter most.
This election is very important and I was encouraged waiting in that line, the people know the stakes and they are going to show up in force on both sides.
In the end, the sun will come up tomorrow, god willing, then the living get to wrtie a whole new verse about the day and the drama within. Complain about the grind of working but make it your comfort and be thankful you have it.
When it’s all over be satisfied that you left nothing on the table and seized every minute, there’s your heaven…

The eight stages of voting.
Too bad that most Romney/Obama-Bots never evolve past number 5.
.
1. You believe in the story you’ve been fed about the system; you enthusiastically research the candidates’ positions; you discuss and debate those positions with friends and relatives; then you vote for whom you decide is the best candidate to fill the position.

2. You see that government is “not working” and blame the people currently holding positions in it. You look over the electoral options available and vote for the non-incumbents you determine are best suited to fill the position. A follow-on iteration to this is that you search for the non-incumbent candidates who have never held office.

3. You say to yourself, “if only a wise and benevolent individual of high moral fiber and character could be convinced to run for office”; and you eventually recognize “the one we’ve all been waiting for”; and you contribute to, and campaign for this individual as though he or she were the physical manifestation of all that could be considered “the way”.

4. You come to the conclusion that the two party system is only half as bad as a one party system like communism – and you strike a blow for liberty by casting a ballot for a third party.

5. You return to the two party fold – realizing that the only way change can be invoked will be by working within that existing system. In this stage you’ve actually convinced yourself that there is only one party that stands a chance of being converted to good.

6. You’re not happy with any of the available candidates; but go to the polls to cast a ballot for the lesser of the two evils that are likely to win.

7. You submit an empty ballot – hoping that others will join you and that, somehow, someone will notice.

8. You stay home on election day and do something worthwhile with your time.

Appreciate your thoughts but IMO, things will remain the same since either side only supports favorable opinions for their candidate and I can’t imagine that will change..the status quo will rule and the lunatic right fringe will continue to rail on anything suggested or enacted by the left with the reverse being true as well..

Guess I’m a little cynical…to me, reason means focusing on guarantee of human rights (womens rights, gay rights etc), but more importantly, getting our spending back to something that suggests we can actually afford all the overspending…like many states and labor intensive businesses, we will see more bankruptcy amongst this group resulting from making future commitments that can’t possibly be met..neither candidate or party will damn the torpedos and focus on this..

Dylan Thomas’ “The Force that Drives the Green Fuse Drives the Flower” is a good one too. Not as good at Macbeth, but the same idea.

This election has just been awful. I’m more cynical about politics and more specifically, how the electorate view ourselves as far as politics go. It’s funny that the apparently more educated or informed voter is less likely to deal with issues, but instead is more willing to take a stance on an issue and never budge.

Anyway, Obama wins. Some people are giddy because they “won”. Some people are angry because they “lost”. We’re still 16 TRILLION dollars in debt either way, and no one has a plan for fixing that. That would be the same deal if Romney wins as well.

Banks, unions, wall street, defense contractors will continue to purchase votes against our interests..we will not see the banks broken up, defense cuts of any consequence, wall street reform that actually works, or spending doing anything but maintaining or increasing relative to reciepts..

Halloween has become nothing more than a huge Democratic recruiting tool. First off, all the Godless creatures the little ones dress up as teach our children to worship the devil. It’s evil.

Then of course the little Democratic trainees go house to house accepting their entitlements of candy. What an evil recruiting event the socialist commie Democrats put on. These kids don’t earn those treats. It’s just a horrible, perverted socialist trick to program our kids early. Most of the kids carry an Iphone they didn’t pay for, and get treats that surely come from Whole Foods, perfect. Our poor kids are indoctrinated into life as a 47%er at a young age

Next up Christmas! Don’t get me started on Christmas, the Democratic socialist extravaganza of the year. Don’t let your kids become socialists, keep them away from those evil Democratic events! Do it for the children. Ban Santa!!!

We have some that support unions as a step up, and others who are convinced they are the reason we have lost our edge. I’m not that naive that this will be smooth, but why don’t we all set goals to provide our point of view without malice, with forethought, and utilizing compassion in displaying our problem solving skills. Insulting others accomplish nothing, except elevating our blood pressure and anger levels and adding emotion to cloud our decision making.

But we all have common problems. There is not just one solution. But we must find the best solution….and time is running out. We must learn to listen (In a reading sense), consider, and adapt to the real causes of our problems. Emotion has ruled the day in the past…we now need to put our thinking caps on so all Americans can “win”. God bless America!

Sagegirl, thanks for the link. That was a good article. As to the EC, I’m definitely for it staying around. I think the founders were far wiser then we could ever have thought when it came to this little gem. As to having those votes be proportional I’m not sure about that. I’m so concerned about making a change to a system that has worked so well for over 200 years. Guess I’d like to see more study on it first.

A wonderful piece, Jay. Here’s to hoping that gap-toothed five-year-old can have a few more yeas of trust and wonder before the cynicism sets in.

My father so looks forward to Halloween and the costumes and the excitement of the kids. Even last year, with mom in the hospital, he had a few hours’ respite as he bought treats, returned home and experienced a few moments of one of life’s joys.

And with that, I think I’ll drop off until the next thread and enjoy the impressions left by your writing. Thank you.

Regarding a previous comment about Saint Ronald Reagan – taxes were raised 7 of his 8 years in office (11 times), and unemployment peaked at 10.3% – check out what his own budget guru David Stockman had to say about that. It wouldn’t a change to the system. In fact, a few states already allocate the EC votes proportionally. How the EC votes are allocated is decided at the state level, not the federal.

When Reagan took office, this country was truly in the dumps. Stated unemployment was 10.3%, but was probably higher. The country’s reputation was in tatters due the Carter administration’s incompetence. Reagan had the courage to let central banker Paul Volcker raise interest rates up to the 12 – 15% range in order to strengthen the dollar and curb inflation. Over Reagan’s two terms in office, conditions in the country improved a great deal. Isn’t that how you should judge a President?

Jay, after months of whipping up the cynicism you use Shakespeare to calm the Grannies, etc. of the world, YOU are the worst type the hypocrite and the outsider who complains and arouses, then at the time of action, the “crowded hour” you sulk away and quote Shakespeare.. The “man in the arena” you are not, the “whiny” journalist is your nest, Sheeesh

I have NO idea who will win and given the divided sentiment of the country and the dividers such as Jay and Hannity and the media in general ,Whomever wins will have a tough time, get involved, fight to the end, but keep a cool head (not a Talking head…)

The funniest part of your joke of a post was comparing Jay to Hannity. One is very well educated, a real journalist — who despite his political leanings, backs up his claims and writing with facts and evidence, The other is a fear-mongering hack journalist who often makes the stupidest of claims to stoke the worst instincts in human behavior. Well, Bookman’s neat little picture of a little kid holding a bag open brought back alot of memories. Like one of the favorite tricks we had when I was a kid. We would get a woman’s purse that was kinda beat up and go out to the pasture and fill it with cow dooey. Then we’d close it and leave it by the side of the road. We’d spend the rest of the day thinking about the person that come along, found the purse, opened it, and stuck his hand inside.

That’s kinda what we’re going to get tonight, no matter who wins.

Have a good Election Day everybody.

Romney has had to run against two opponents this election cycle….. Bozo and the main stream media. Prevailing against those that ignore many of the facts, manufacture their own, leave significant portions of accounts out of the narrative and distort the rhetoric just to benefit their candidate has become the norm. Unfortunately, many still call this journalism.

Yes, Tall, but when the current incumbent assumed office we were in a much worse condition – on the brink of a second Great Depression, facing the cleanup of an unprovoked war that was paid for with a tax cut. If we knew which face of the current rival to believe, he’ll finish the cleanup by un-obstructing Congress, allowing some of the languishing proposals of the former to pass. Anyway, gotta run – I’m an actual job creator, not a Cayman Island imaginary one…….

Two thoughts:

1. Both candidates are very decent people, and honestly either one will at least do an ok job, though I strongly favor Romney obviously.

2. I think the issue of race was almost entirely absent between the two candidates, and both deserve credit, but I think Romney did a stand up job of keeping the campaign about issues. And that was a huge service to America, but one largely unseen because of it’s absence.

Adrian Gray, who oversaw the Bush 2004 voter-contact operation and is now a policy analyst for a New York investment firm, makes the point that as of Tuesday, 530,813 Ohio Democrats had voted early or had requested or cast an absentee ballot. That’s down 181,275 from four years ago. But 448,357 Ohio Republicans had voted early or had requested or cast an absentee ballot, up 75,858 from the last presidential election.

Wonder if this really is the case..

“I met those of our society who had votes in the ensuing election, and advised them. 1. To vote, without fee or reward, for the person they judged most worthy: 2. My 3 quesions to Pres Obama

1. Why did you have to save those people in Oh, Mich? you should have let them fail and brought more unemployment, even though you saved their jobs white males are still voting for the man who said let them fail, Obama was it worth it?

2. Why did you have to kill bin ladin? even though you have made America safe for the last 4 years southern white conservatives males dont care, you should have let bin ladin and his gang bring danger on all the southern states, who dont apprecicate the freedom because hate is in their eyes.

3. Why bring troops home from Iraq, you should have let more troops die, why have any concern with people who call you names, dont respect the office of the President, label you a communist, socialist, why not let another 4,000 die the same way W did?

President Obama win or lose people around the world think the conservative white males who hate you dont think these people are worth it, if Mitt get elected when he send their sons to die in another war while his sons take their summer vacations they will miss you.

Are you sure that quote is from Shakespeare? I’m pretty sure it is a line from a Rush song.

On the Electoral College issue, I can see why some would prefer it be proportional and it does make some sense. However, I wonder how that would be done in practice. Would it be a straight mathematical calculation based upon percentage of the popular vote? Or, would it be based upon districts similar to how Representatives are elected now? The latter could lead to all sorts of problems with drawing up districts etc. not unlike the nonsense we go through now. Also, a proportional system might give rise to regional or one-issue voter blocs that could make sure no candidate got the majority. Then, it would be decided by Congress which could lead to a few big states basically having all the power of the federal government. Love it or hate it, the Electoral College does a lot of things well and just blindly changing it could lead to bigger problems than we have now.

I live in Florida now but I am born and bred in Georgia. I supported Jimmy Carter when he first ran for President.. But in his re-election bid I support Reagan and have gone republican every since. I was so proud of George Bush in his 1st term, I was disappointed of him in his second term.
With all this said I love this country third only to God and my family. I just can not agree with the money being wasted by our government on programs that have failed. Democrats only know one thing, Throw tax payers money at the problem, when in fact that may be the worst thing you can do. People in the top bracket I feel would pay the proper amount of taxes if it meant something, But in the end you have to cut spending several times more than any tax increases to make a dent in the debt. JFK said, “Ask not what your country can do for you but what can you do for your country” That needs to apply to both sides of the argument now.. For those who can not do for them selfs we will take care of, for those who can they must do as much as they can if that means 1% or 30%, they must do something to help, But the government has to make cuts in every area including defense and intitlements. Don’t hit those already on SS, but those under 55 must become less dependent on government. Look towards Belgium (I just visited there) and you will see how a craddle to grave government has not worked as its work force has aged and there are not enough workers to pay for those who are retired and their system is going to crash within 10 years and they will have tons of broken promises just when people depend on those promises. Its time the US, Fixed this problem!!

She couldn’t sustain it because her true feelings always showed. Jay can’t sustain it for the same reasons.”

Other recent Wilbur offerings:

“Voter fraud has been a staple of democrat politics for generations.”

“45 days after the fact after weeks of BS from Obama blaming a video he knew was not the trigger and weeks of equivocating there OUGHT to be hysteria about a commander in chief being a feeble hairless weenie.”

“Democrats all want to destroy America.
They hate the country and its values.
They want the US to fail.
Democrats are all totalitarian statists
Democrats hate God
Democrats only want to murder their young
Democrats at economically stupid
Democrats love a culture of dependency.”

“Obama is a man without honor.
If he had honor he would not have headed off to a celebrity appearance just after refusing to send aid to an ambassador and his inadequate security team. A man of honor does not spend weeks blaming a video when he knows terrorists are guilty of the attack. A man of honor does not offer us snickering ads pandering to adolescents.
Can this man get any more shameful?”

He is a true socialist and he has no pride in America. In fact, he really doesn’t like America. he doesn’t believe in our heritage….. he has no reason to. About the only time he spent in this country as a young man was spent at Punahou School in HI getting high. His true roots lie elsewhere, somewhere in some Muslim mosque or perhaps in his beloved Indonesia….. certainly not as an American. But he fits right in to your plan, does he not? Take from the producers and give to the lazy who refuse to produce. Many very learned people have warned us against this kind of behavior but some just don’t seem to get it. “3. You left out 9-11 was planned and trained for on a democrats watch who failed to take the threat seriously in the 90s.”

Incorrect. The first WTC bombers (1993) were found, convicted and imprisoned under the Clinton Administration. Clinton also wanted chemical taggants placed in substances that could be used in bombs; Congress refused to pass the legislation. A shame, too, because chemical taggants could have helped catch Tim McVeigh faster — as it was, he was only caught by blind luck.

Whereas Bush’s response to 9/11 primarily involved invading the wrong country and expanding governmment so that everyone getting on an airplane and their luggage receives a free Federal inspection.

oh, I’ve been down this path before with some not-crazy conservatives, and I can grasp the basic point that the SOFA had been negotiated by the previous Administration, that it was just up to Obama to go in there and nurse it along at that point.

What such a point misses is that without the kind of healthy cynicism on the folly of this kind of nation-building in that particular place, that was championed by a few lonely individuals back in 2002–among them, yes, Barack Obama and our own blog-host–it is hard to say how such a SOFA would’ve proceeded in 2008. We could still be up to our third or fourth military surge, our twenty-seventh Friedman Unit, convinced that this one was gonna work for sure.

And yes, perhaps I’m exaggerating the effect of the early visionary war protesters, but there certainly was an effect. Of course people don’t want to acknowledge that those folks were right and that they–the vast majority who supported the invasion and occupation–were flat-out wrong.

“Greetings from up here in a Cleveland, Ohio. . .”
===========================================

Good Morning, Peter, and greetings, also, to any other readers from Ohio and to readers in states throughout the nation. Please call others, and ask all of your friends and family in Ohio (and elsewhere) to continue to encourage those they know to vote for President Obama. His attributes, as President, will not come again soon. Let us continue to work, so that we do not lose what he has to offer our nation. Please work to offset the efforts of Ohio’s Secretary of State, John Husted, to suppress Democratic votes there. If I had a list of citizens’ names to call citizens in Ohio, I would still be working in behalf of the President, even at this hour. Keep trying for me. It’s not over until the polls close.

Have a great day ahead, Peter, and I extend the same wishes to other readers of this blog who are from states throughout the nation – from a committed Democrat in the Red state of Georgia.

Ever wonder how hard it is to find a parking place for a beer truck near a polling place? Well, let me tell you, it’s hard—real hard. Anyhow, I done my Patriotic duty and voted. I like to do it on election day so I can eye all the people in line and pick out which ones are the libruls. There was a ringer in line behind me. She dressed and looked like a decent Republican, but when she talked it was in this high-falutin’ style that told me she’d been polluted by a bunch of colledges and lots of reading. I figure anybody that knows that much and is educated must be a librul Democrat.

Anyhow, I voted for Romney and the Ryan guy and I sure hope they win so we don’t have another pair of welfare bums on our hands. I expect Romney would be able to find a job as a reverse mortgage spokesman—anybody would be better than that Fred Thompson. But Ryan? A guy that looks like that might be in high demand around Halloween when all those quick-buck people open up the haunted houses in shopping centers, but the rest of the year he might starve and be good only for scaring kids.

Anyhow, I got my PBR, got my fried pork skins, and got my fan—for old Ace and his smells, you know—and I’m ready for watching the returns come in tonight.

Have a good Tuesday, everybody.

I didn’t say anything about polling. I simply pointed out that your reasoning is emblematic of the “No True Scotsman” logical fallacy. You should probably go familiarize yourself with it since you’re clearly unaware of what it is.

“2. You missed the point – the military overwhelmingly supports Romney.”

I don’t believe that for a moment.

“Your notion they think he is going to war is refuted by this alone.”

No need; Romney’s already made it clear that he *intends* to do so, which refutes *you.*

“3. Rambling mess.”

Only if you can’t contain more than one thought in your head at a time. Thanks for making that plain!

Those of us who have been compulsively checking 538 the past too-many months?

Let’s take a moment and savor these two final grafs of his first post of Election Day, shall we?

All of this leaves Mr. Romney drawing to an inside straight. I hope you’ll excuse the cliché, but it’s appropriate here: in poker, making an inside straight requires you to catch one of 4 cards out of 48 remaining in the deck, the chances of which are about 8 percent. Those are now about Mr. Romney’s chances of winning the Electoral College, according to the FiveThirtyEight forecast.

As any poker player knows, those 8 percent chances do come up once in a while. If it happens this year, then a lot of polling firms will have to re-examine their assumptions — and we will have to re-examine ours about how trustworthy the polls are. But the odds are that Mr. Obama will win another term.

I’d just leave kayaker alone about that. His melanin envy causes the synapses in his medula oblongata to misfire from time to time. You just have to say, “Bless his heart” when he goes on those melanin-fueled rants and continue reading the next post. Responding to that crap only gives him the impression that he’s actually right about something.

Kind of like Obama proposing $10 in cuts to every $1 in raised taxes? But the Republican congress threw a temper tantrum at that proposal….

From that perspective, it’s the perfect system as it protects itself from challenge by manipulation of cashflow to whomever….not sure what we can do about it…only good idea I’ve heard is from Lessig…

I’ve been watching the polls for over a year, and I’ve got an extensive background in statistics and statistical analysis. Taking OH and FL would be a big *help* to Romney, but would *not* guarantee him a win. He’s got to take tossups and flip Obama states to win in the Electoral College.

The electoral-vote.com model takes many different leading polls into account (including Rasmussen) to mute outliers and statistical noise; IMO it’s one of the best-done poll aggregators available. And if you gave Romney OH and FL (based on today’s map) *plus* the only tossup state they have remaining (VA), Romney still would fall short with 253 EVs.

Times are changing, bruh… With avenues available that were not even thought of 10-20 years ago, a candidate could run a serious campaign without using the amounts of cash they “think” they need. Look at how social media has made people well known without use of agents and such. Technology generally lowers the cost of doing things over periods of time, but one has to wonder why that has not worked with campaigns? That’s because we allow the corruption to breed under the guise of it being the necessary way to do things.

SR @ 11.42, I think it was ninth-tenth grade when I tuned in, myself.

It’s not just the off-kilter music and lyrics, it’s the personality, that fiery libertarian ethos he brought to his interviews–and of course the live shows (I saw him a couple of times, once with Beefheart).

Unsurprisingly, I don’t think it holds up real well now, although lately I’m trying to give it another chance. Might pitch in a favorite track or two next FNM if I think of it.

In addition to the big show I’m watching what is projected to be a close Congressional race in Minnesota today. The contestants are Jim Graves and Michele Bachmann. I don’t know anything about Graves but Bachmann belongs in an insane asylum. She is the absolute worst America has to offer.

Of course it could be argued, with some legitimacy, that the US House is itself an insane asylum. But the problem there is they let the inmates out from time to time.

Well, I do agree that they should have papered over that Obama mural. In fact, that mural — complete with campaign symbol — should not exist at a public school.

That said, Fox might be a WEE bit guilty of overplaying the story.

Speaking of more voting law violations:

Fox News host Sean Hannity apparently tweeted pictures of his ballot today. This may be a misdemeanor under New York State elections law which prohibits voters from showing a ballot “after it is prepared for voting, to any person so as to reveal the contents

Oh if only the man would take him down.

The same way a drug addict beats his addiction. Once you realize you can function normally without the need for the “fix”, you are inclined to get that “fix” just because everyone else is doing it. If a Congressperson runs a very successful campaign using technology as opposed to brute spending, why would they need to succumb to money?

Well Zappa was a genious, maybe he could make sense of the last four years of the Obama administration because I can’t. Wind down the wars sends 50,000 more into Afghanistan. End the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy actually extends them instead. Close Gitmo, leave Gitmo open. Criticize the Israelis and praise the Muslims. And almost everyone who voted for him in 2008 will still vote for him again today, two or three times just like last time! Incomprehensible.

Get some people in there who are interested in doing their job rather than spending most of their time campaigning or working on pet projects. Greetings from Toledo! Right now I’m in a great restaurant called Wendy’s dining on a triple patty burger topped with extra cheese and bacon. A nice lady by the name of Miss Margaret is letting me on her laptop. I cannot tell you how many good Ohio folks I spoke with who came over to the Right side of things. I stopped over in a place called Berlin Heights where I prayed with 83 year old Miss Gracie. We even went past a placed called Roosevelt and my Bible study partner Roosevelt nearly choked seeing that sign. I’m telling you folks, there are a lot of people who wish to fire this president up here. I’m also telling you that there is A LOT of voter fraud. We are helping out A LOT of poll workers. We are going to work like crazy for the next four-plus hours and make sure that Ohio delivers the presidency to the honorable Governor Willard “Mitt” Romney and the honorable Representative Paul D. Ryan. I predict a huge victory for the Rightful Republican Party tonight and then, it’s onward to capture the Senate in two years after we rightly get Hairy Read to go down in flames and resign! Amen, Bill
