southpaw,

My friend who is “on call” for election day issues at the polls advised the ladies that the man is loitering and that they need only contact the local police department to report that the gentleman refused to leave.

I thought you guys were FOR lawful carry! Now you’re NOT? what’ the deal?

This morning, a legally credentialed poll watcher was threatened and intimidated while attempting to perform his legally allowed duties of observing the election process at precinct polling location 289 in Detroit. The poll watcher, a lawyer, was confronted by a voter in line, who demanded the poll watcher produce his credentials, which he did.

However, the voter said that wasn’t good enough and that he had “a badge and a gun” and told the poll watcher get out of the precinct. Rather than allow the situation to escalate, the poll watcher left before the voter produced a badge or brandished a gun. Fearing for his safety, the poll watcher exited and called 911, however the Detroit Police refused to respond to the call – neglecting the fact that a voter alleged to have a ‘badge’ and a ‘gun’ in a precinct, putting other voters at risk.

Thanks for the update. If you can get to your friend’s precinct, maybe you can watch the guy argue with the police. ;-) Or maybe your friend can upload a video of it for our viewing pleasure…

Maybe the police can charge him with a felony, and he can lose HIS right to vote. Anybody besides me for poetic justice?

DECKER: Obama: Snuffing out religious freedom

Under the Democrats’ mismanagement, the United States is staring down a fiscal catastrophe. That’s not the only crisis the nation faces, however. Freedom of religion is under threat as the Obama administration tries to force faith underground.

Clinton — “Who wants a dishonest president?”

Former President Bill Clinton branded GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney a serial liar at a Philadelphia campaign event yesterday, criticizing Romney’s ad that misleadingly implied Chrysler was shifting Jeep production to China.

“When I was a kid, if I got my hand caught in the cookie jar, where it wasn’t supposed to be, I turned red in my face, and I took my hand out of the cookie jar,” explained Clinton. “You’ve got to give it to Governor Romney. When he gets his hand caught in the cookie jar, he just digs down for more cookies.”

I agree with you that it should be covered or taken down, whichever one’s the quickest and most effective fix (though it appears to be painted directly on the wall from what I can see).

That said, I really don’t think that the entire election’s going to be affected by that one inadvertent violation. And clearly, nobody’s *defending* the mural being there. It seems to me that someone, either in ths school or in the county board of elections, screwed up and simply didn’t take care of it before Election Day.

Fix it and move on. Simple.

Morality — “Romney’s tax records have been under the Obama run IRS for months…. clean as a whistle”

Sorry, no evidence of that.

The operating assumption earlier this year was that Romney was one of the folks who UBS (Union Bank of Switzerland) dimed out to the IRS for hiding assets. The IRS made a blanket offer of amnesty to people who were thusly dimed out; many accepted the offer and came clean (and paid back taxes and penalties), while others refused and are fighting the IRS.

Had Romney been one of those people and had he accepted the amnesty offer, the IRS would have no reason to prosecute him if he abided by the consent agreement. But despite his agreement and compliance, he would definitely *not* have been “clean” as you suggest.

There’s no concrete evidence that the above is the case, but given Romney’s repeated refusal to release his tax records prior to 2010 (the penalties and settlement would have been reflected in his restated 2009 tax returns), it’s a plausible possibility.

Once again, the above is all speculation; I have no evidence to support it. That said, just because the IRS hasn’t prosecuted Romney, that doesn’t mean his taxes are clean. FWIW, the IRS would *rather* come to an agreement with you and no prosecute. Frankly, the IRS generally only prosecutes egregious and obstinate cases.

Don’t think so. being as this election is neck and neck according to the pundits / Obama’s mole in the Fed gub’ment run IRS would have already slipped the info to Obama’s handlers during the early election time and it would be all over the news for sure. If they had any EVIDENCE which obviously they don’ t we would have had an October surprise. Speculation is speculation – they have NOTHING and I guarantee Obama has had his IRS mole check every detail. I an not going to speculate on Obama’s lack of a birth certificate. If there was any evidence that he is not a born in the USA citizen he would not be running for reelection ore even election the 1st time. Speculation doesn’t mean that it can’t be true but it means you have NO evidence.

Well, we only stood outside in the rain about 15 minutes this morning. The school where we voted changed everything around. The place where we use to fill out the form and get the little doo-hickey for the voting machine is now a theater stage area. That left only the place where we use to wait for voting to hold the tables for the forms and the machines. Since the students were in class we couldn’t come inside and line the hallways. That rain sure was cold. Talk about voter suppression! This was voter soaking! Great planning by the crack election team.

I was kinda suprized at how short the ballot was. I only needed a minute or so to mark mine. There was only a couple amenments and not many races at all. After I put a X in the Obama-Biden square to strike them out and make sure Romney-Ryan had clear sailing, I was finished in a few seconds. I don’t give a hang who’s elected to be county surveyor and such.

Anyhow, I was real glad to see that Bill Orvis White was up in Ohio keeping a eye on the voting there. That probly means we’ll be waiting a week or so to learn how Ohio voted. I never saw no Black Panthers with billy clubs where I voted, so I guess we were pretty lucky. Those two old women that checked my drivers liscence were enough to keep things on the up and up.
