If the white turnout increases on Election Day, it will be very difficult for the president to win. If it decreases………..

Just a gut feeling i have, I think, on the Presidential side, the race in Georgia will be too close to call for most of the night come Tuesday. I may be wrong, but its just a gut feeling i have.

Jay, this is like the birther hysteria a few years back. Remember when you asked people not to comment on the birther issue because it was so ridiculous? Well, the whole birther issue ended up taking on a life of its own and became overwhelming to the point where the Fox News fantasy couldn’t be ignored. These same people are creating another hysterical myth with Benghazi. They will ignore common sense and the facts to feed their rage. There is no stopping them. Fox News knows how easily manipulated their viewers are, and their viewers happily follow along.

Ironically the Bengahzi bump that Fox News thought would go to Romney has gone to Obama. Fox News tried to manufacture an October surprise and it backfired.

Blacks and Latinos have broken records on early voting in Georgia and Fla. Ohio more then 2008

That’s the reason why i have a gut feeling that Ga. will too close to call for most of the night Tuesday.
Plus the fact that most people do not trust Romney , or will not vote for him because of religous purposes ( Mormonism is a ” cult” ). Do not assume that white voters automatically voted for Romney. The day i voted, a couple had to remove their Gary Johnson for President caps, so i think Johnson may eat into Romney’s vote totals.

Romney may still win the state, but i think it will be closer than people think.

What happens when a lie goes astray?

You may recall the right wing’s hysteria last week over the way that events had supposedly played out in Benghazi, Libya. Stoked by inflammatory, deeply irresponsible misreporting on Fox News, they insisted that this scandal was bigger than Watergate, and that for his cowardice President Obama would be disgraced as commander in chief and impeached and removed from office should he win a second term.

Oh, they were in fine, fine form, braying like so many hounds certain they have finally treed the fox.

President Obama, we were told, had AC-130 gunships within an hour of Benghazi but refused to use them to try to intervene on behalf of his ambassador. We had Special Forces units ready to go just two hours away, at Sigonella Air Base in Sicily, but a cowardly Obama again barred a rescue operation, fearful that it might endanger his re-election if it went astray.

And twice — TWICE!!! — former SEALs at a nearby CIA compound had requested permission to intervene in the assault on the U.S. consulate, but twice they had been ordered to stand down and do nothing. Finally, the ex-SEALS defied orders from Washington, made their way to the consulate and rescued some of their fellow Americans. Obama, in contrast, was ready to just let them all die.

Fox News also reported that upon returning to the CIA annex, those same ex-SEALs had “lasered” a mortar targeting their position in hopes that an AC-130 would arrive to take it out, but again no help came. That same mortar later killed two of those ex-SEALs.

But as predicted here, none of that turned out to be true. None. From beginning to end, and in all its details, that story has proved to be false.

– There were no orders from the CIA or anyone else to stand down. According to a CIA timeline released last week, once those at the CIA annex learned that the nearby consulate was under attack, an ad hoc rescue mission was quickly put together and launched within 25 minutes.

– As Pentagon spokesman George Little described it Friday, “there was no AC-130 within a continent’s range of Benghazi” that night. The closest gunship was in Afghanistan, some 2,500 miles away. The two surveillance drones that eventually reached the scene in Benghazi also had to be reassigned from elsewhere; neither was armed.

– Contrary to the Fox report, there were no Special Forces units available for insertion into the situation. Soon after word of the attack reached Washington, a special ops team was scrambled from a training facility somewhere in Central Europe — some sources have reported Croatia — and transported to Sigonella.

In addition, a second special ops unit was immediately alerted and transported from a military base here in the United States to Sigonella, as an option should a hostage situation develop. In other words, major preparations were underway to provide a military option should the opportunity arise to use it.

But as Little put it last week, the units “did not arrive until after the entire sequence of events was complete. … They were in Sigonella many hours after the attacks.” Two platoons of specially trained Marines had also been hustled to Sigonella, but again too late for intervention.

– Finally, there had been no “lasering” of the mortar position used to attack the CIA annex in the second phase of the assault. (That second phase occurred more than seven hours after the attack on the consulate had ended). There was no reason to use a laser in that fashion — the SEALs knew they had no air cover to intervene — and more importantly, no opportunity to do so.

According to the CIA, its personnel at the annex were not even aware that the mortars existed until mortar shells began falling on their position; from beginning to end, the deadly mortar attack lasted all of 11 minutes.

In conclusion, last week’s entire controversy was spectacularly, embarrassingly wrong-headed. No facts exist to justify the overheated rhetoric and allegations directed at Obama and top officials in his administration, but no apologies will follow either. Quite the contrary, I’m sure.

I have a cow orker whose browser homepage is set to FoxNews. I only learned this last week, but it really does explain a lot, as to why this person seems to operate in a parallel universe when discussing some of the most mundane-imaginable things. I am reminded of a discussion some months ago regarding some minor change to flex-plan medical benefits coverage; this person was so angry you’d think a coronary might be in the offing. Of course now I realize it’s because OSAMAKKKARE was surely to blame.

That’s embarrassing to me to behold, and if that’s what Jay meant earlier I stand corrected for my post @ 8.52.

If the white turnout increases on Election Day, it will be very difficult for the president to win. If it decreases, it will be very difficult for him to lose. Rasmussen Reports currently estimates that white turnout will be similar to the 2008 totals. Black voters, however, are far more likely to have voted already than any other segment of the electorate.

Because if there is one thing we can all rest easy about its that the CIA always and I mean always tells us the American citizens the truth about everything.

Anyway,

I was never really worried about the incident itself.
More about who told Rice and Carney to mislead the American public for days if not weeks after the initial attack.

They never tried to blame it on a stupid video either…whether or not aid could have or could not have been given is beside the point…

The Obama admin. knew it was unsafe through emails that Stevens sent to the State Dept.. why was he not either brought out of there or given better security before 911.
Bottom line, Obama knew it would look bad so they tried to cover it up and then he had the nerve to go to Vegas for a fundraiser…disgusting

Four Americans dead and you read this kind of irresponsible spin, disgusting. The fact remains that requests for additional security was denied even though all the evidence justified those requests. Obama and the state department attempted to cover up this administrations gross incompetence just to get through the election. The real truth is, had it not been for the persistence of Fox News, we would have all believed the out and out lie about the video that the administration, with the ever so willing aid of the media, was feeding us. There is nothing here that impugns Romney, even though some commenters are trying to bootstrap the FoxNews reporting to Romney. Romney was extremely circumspect in how he discussed Benghazi. I personally regret the reporting of the Benghazi incident, because it saps credibility from the GOPs quest to defeat Obama. And Obama has plenty of exposure over real issues; we don’t need Benghazi. To the commenters who act so smug about FoxNews, you might want to note that FoxNews isn’t running for president. As much as the left would like to think so, FoxNews is not a proxy for Romney. So don’t gloat so much about FoxNews’ embarrassment, lest you find you were celebrating the battle while losing the war.

Bain did that, not Jeep. Gov. Romney even doubled down on this Jeep lie after it was exposed. That shows his basic disrespect for the intelligence of, and the character of, the American people – because he does not think that the American people will be able to see what he is doing and/or because they do not care what he is doing in trying to make lies appear as truth.

Are these the leaders we want influencing our nation, with their values and their spinning of lies as reality – which they will expect every cititzen to fall neatly in line to accept as truth? Not this citizen.

Jay, all this is true enough, and hardly surprising. Those of us who’ve been watching the right exploit this ridiculous propaganda PR outfit “FOX” masked as a journalistic organization are hardly surprised.

But aren’t you starting to become a little like MSNBC in this case, passing up deep analysis of a troubling situation for cheap points that preach to the partisan choir?

What about the revelations on Friday that major media organizations at Washington’s request concealed the fact that the supposed consulate Navy personnel were not security details but were actively working with the CIA? In fact, there were apparently more people working for the CIA at the embassy than there were embassy personnel there. This obviously had a profound effect on how the story was received broadly in the early going, but in ways that can’t easily be assimilated either into a ready-made FOX or a MSNBC-friendly narrative.

In an interview last night on 60 Minutes we had a discussion on the divisiveness of modern politics. The program brought in the leaders of the Senate from but parties and they literally looked like a set of twins. They both smirked and talked very guardedly about their contribution to the gridlock and the interviewer kept asking the questions as if the American public wanted this or that and wanted to know why they weren’t getting it. Never once did the 60 Minutes interviewer venture the opinion that a divisive press may be doing a lot of the damage. News made to order, paid for to back whatever opinion you wish to have for that day. Now you have two entirely different camps listening to two entirely different sets of “facts” tailored to their needs. I am sure we had this in the south before the War Between the States, the Atlanta paper backing human slavery, state’s rights to this slavery, and there were many a good Christian person who was sucked in by it. Not since the Civil War have we had this unifact reporting, returning us to those days where people strutted their immoral, misguided views in public and just like those times you have two countries forming in this country again. Once again you see a church landing on the wrong side of these issues, to stay popular with the masses. We need a way to force the honesty issue which there will be days neither side will enjoy nor want to hear it. Stop having news run out of the entertainment side of the network.

Stephen Colbert did a hilarious parody of the Fox News bunch and the way they gin up these issues by just repeatedly asking speculative questions over and over and trying to pass it off as actual reporting.

Combine that with the “they/critics/some people are saying” tactic and you have a time-honored technique of introducing a lot of unsubstantiated hooey into the minds of your viewers without doing any true investigative reporting or presenting any actual facts. The fact that so many people are taken in by this shows the need for some media analysis education starting in grammar school, probably.

Fox News viewers, I know you want to believe that you are getting the straight poop, but all you are getting, really, is poop.

Really, Fox news lies? I am an independent voter. I voted for Bush. When he lied about Iraq I was out raged. I then voted for Obama. Now Obama is covering his lies about Benhgazi. I have been following this since day one when our trusted president told us the attack was all over a video. I drank the kool aide. Then more and more came out. Of course then all questions regarding Benhgazi will be answered after the election. Why not now? We new every minute detail after Bin laden was killed, even pictures of the situation room.
This is a cover up. If Obama is reelected do we really want to be discussing his lies for the next four years? Our country is falling off the clift financially. Before you vote or put your own spin on Benhgazi, do your homework. I have and our president is lying to all of us.

You’ve written a nice little piece about Fox News and the misreported “cowardice” of Obama, the CIA reports, Special Ops, Navy Seals, etc. A few days ago D. Ignatius published a Washington Post article, writing among other things: “It’s a story of individual bravery, but also of a CIA misjudgment in relying on Libyan militias and a newly formed Libyan intelligence organization to keep Americans safe in Benghazi. While there were multiple errors that led to the final tragedy, there’s no evidence that the White House or CIA leadership deliberately delayed or impeded rescue efforts.”

Now maybe you’ll consider writing an article about the truth. The truth about Obama’s, Hillary’s, Jay Carney’s and Susan Rice’s lying for 2 weeks about the anti-muslim film, better known as “the video” that supposedly caused the riot that caused the Benghazi mob-induced “random” September 11th attack that killed Ambassador and three other American heroes. Of course, as we all know or at least we all should know (the media other than Fox News has tried their darndest to not publish the truth), it was known almost immediately that the Benghazi attack was a well-planned terrorist attack, not random mob violence.

On September 12th Hillary Clinton stated that “some have sought to justify this vicious behavior, along with the protest that took place at our embassy in Cairo yesterday, as a response to inflammatory material posted on the Internet….”

On September 14th White House press secretary Jay Carney said: ”We were not aware of any actionable intelligence indicating that an attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi was planned or imminent.”

Why would the Admnistration send out Susan Rice for several days to unequivocally claim the attack was video, mob-induced? On September 16th, Susan Rice spoke at the United Nations stating: “We do not have information at present that leads us to conclude that this was premeditated or preplanned….Our current best assessment, based on the information that we have at present, is that, in fact, what this began as, it was a spontaneous – not a premeditated – response to what had transpired in Cairo… .”

Finally, on September 19th the Director of National Intelligence before Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs stated under oath: “They were killed in the course of a terrorist attack on our embassy. …”

Yet also on September 19th, Carney continued to plead ignorance stating: “… Right now I’m saying we don’t have evidence at this point that this was premeditated or preplanned …”

And then finally on September 20th, nine days after the obviously preplanned Benghazi attack, Carney stated: “It is, I think, self-evident that what happened in Benghazi was a terrorist attack. Our embassy was attacked violently, and the result was four deaths of American officials.” (Interesting that all of a sudden it became self-evident in one day?)

Hillary finally admitted on September 21st, 10 days after the attack: “… what happened in Benghazi was a terrorist attack.

Yet on September 25th, when he was on “The View” and was asked about Hillary’s terrorist attack statement, Obama said: “We’re still doing an investigation. There’s no doubt that (with) the kind of weapons that were used, the ongoing assault, that it wasn’t just a mob action. We don’t have all the information yet, so we’re still gathering it….

Why wouldn’t he just come out and tell the truth? Here he was, 2 weeks after the attack, after Hillary and Carney both had finally come forth and admitted it was a terrorist attack, yet he couldn’t flatly state that it clearly was a well-planned terrorist attack?

Have you given any thought to writing about this? Are you in the least bit concerned why the administration would go to such lengths to cover up the truth? Do you care? Maybe this is bigger than Watergate and quite frankly, it doesn’t really compare – remember no one was killed at Watergate. Are you teetering on journalistic “cowardice” (to use your word) and irresponsible misreporting by not reporting on this? Or are you simply willing to let this aspect of the administration’s botching and coverup of the Benghazi attack to go unreported because you like some much of the other media are doing your best to protect the very poor excuse we have as President of the United States and his Administration?

To compare Benghazi to 9/11 is an insult to the people who suffered from 9/11. 9/11 actually saved the weak Bush administration and in doing so may have done more collateral damage to this country than just those buildings. Bush was put in office with a minority of the vote, by the Supreme Court. Not a very popular president and then the country were under attack, patriotism trumped witlessness, and we pulled together. If Benghazi was in any shape or form in this category or a crisis the American public would take form as it did in the 9/11 crisis and even the Sandy crisis and pull together. That the opposition does not find this a necessary mode of operation in itself either shows the right doesn’t sense this to be one of those kind of crisis or have absolutely no reverence for the kind of event they are now describing, and in a close election have become disparate.

Dodd Frank has nothing to do with profits…it is a failure because we lost and we still have 5 or so banks that are too big to fail….disaster of a risk to continue to take…why do you suppose Dodd Frank didn’t break them up (which would, among other things, create competition for banks to actually put meaningful money in play)?

I don’t watch television news, period. When I did, I blocked the Fox News channel just to be sure that I didn’t accidentally end up wasting my time on it. I did go to lunch last week in an establishment that had Faux News on, and I was really surprised that they were trying to make the Libya thing the top story. My only thought was “Huh. That’s weird. That hasn’t been news in weeks.” Later on I heard the whole thing explained as a Fox News generated non-controversy. The conservative echo chamber is a very peculiar place.

As to the alleged enthusiasm gap wherein the metric applied is the number of bumper stickers and yard signs?

I have observed that in my neck of the northern-ATL-burbs, generally, the GOP faithful were a bit slower to don the usual proclamations. in 2008, it seemed that these things sprouted up out of nowhere immediately after the national convention, i.e., right after Labor Day.

In 2012, I’ve seen a similar number of proclamations, but they all seemed appear right after the first debate.

Which would indicate, to me, that there is a lot of bandwagoneering going on. (pretty typical really, for either side–who wants to mess up their car if they know it’s in a lost cause?)

What is funny is that I have never said I didn’t lean left. I have stated that numerous times. As well as saying that while leaning left, I do not think either party does a good job of governing. Just because I agree more with the overall Democrat platform doesn’t mean I think they run the “show” any better than Republicans or agree with everything they do.

When they get caught up in a “blog name”, as you say, they have little to nothing to talk about.

That is Morality’s MO when he is unwilling to debate. He asked about my voting record for Presidents a few weeks ago. I listed them all out. Morality has yet to list who he has voted for except to say, he didn’t vote for Bush or Obama.

I’m on record stating that I think Obama is mediocre and I challenge anyone to show a post where I have did much praising of him.

They can show where I have ripped the right and numerous Republican politicians. In their mind that automatically equates to me agreeing with all things Democrat and all elected Democrats, I guess.

If they can make it against the law to cry ‘Fire!’ in a crowded theater when there isn’t one, they can make it against the law to report bogus news in an attempt to throw an election. This is voter fraud the most heinous kind. Where’s a good Attorney General when you need one.

Someon remind me how many Americans died on 9-11 while our so-called National Security advisor sis not do her job? and how many died while our president read “My Pet Goat”? And how many Americans died in Embassy attacks while Bush was in office? And how many American died in Iraq for a totally wasted war so that Iran would have an ally instead of an enemy? And how many died in Afghanistan to keep in power a corrupt government.?

And how many died in Libya to remove a dictator who was the first major terrorist to use a passenger airplane to kill Americans?

And how many Marines died in Lebanon when our saint of a president took no action and let Hezbollah claim victory?

Ahh but that evil black Muslim in the White House purposely let four Americans die in Benghhazi because he wanted to cover up his inability to wipe out Al-Quaida and actually sympathizes with radical Muslims who have infiltrated his government.
