What happens when a lie goes astray?
You may recall the right wing’s hysteria last week over the way that events had supposedly played out in Benghazi, Libya. Stoked by inflammatory, deeply irresponsible misreporting on Fox News, they insisted that this scandal was bigger than Watergate, and that for his cowardice President Obama would be disgraced as commander in chief and impeached and removed from office should he win a second term.
Oh, they were in fine, fine form, braying like so many hounds certain they have finally treed the fox.
President Obama, we were told, had AC-130 gunships within an hour of Benghazi but refused to use them to try to intervene on behalf of his ambassador. We had Special Forces units ready to go just two hours away, at Sigonella Air Base in Sicily, but a cowardly Obama again barred a rescue operation, fearful that it might endanger his re-election if it went astray.
And twice — TWICE!!! — former SEALs at a nearby CIA compound had requested permission to intervene in the assault on the U.S. consulate, but twice they had been ordered to stand down and do nothing. Finally, the ex-SEALS defied orders from Washington, made their way to the consulate and rescued some of their fellow Americans. Obama, in contrast, was ready to just let them all die.
Fox News also reported that upon returning to the CIA annex, those same ex-SEALs had “lasered” a mortar targeting their position in hopes that an AC-130 would arrive to take it out, but again no help came. That same mortar later killed two of those ex-SEALs.
But as predicted here, none of that turned out to be true. None. From beginning to end, and in all its details, that story has proved to be false.
– There were no orders from the CIA or anyone else to stand down. According to a CIA timeline released last week, once those at the CIA annex learned that the nearby consulate was under attack, an ad hoc rescue mission was quickly put together and launched within 25 minutes.
– As Pentagon spokesman George Little described it Friday, “there was no AC-130 within a continent’s range of Benghazi” that night. The closest gunship was in Afghanistan, some 2,500 miles away. The two surveillance drones that eventually reached the scene in Benghazi also had to be reassigned from elsewhere; neither was armed.
– Contrary to the Fox report, there were no Special Forces units available for insertion into the situation. Soon after word of the attack reached Washington, a special ops team was scrambled from a training facility somewhere in Central Europe — some sources have reported Croatia — and transported to Sigonella.
In addition, a second special ops unit was immediately alerted and transported from a military base here in the United States to Sigonella, as an option should a hostage situation develop. In other words, major preparations were underway to provide a military option should the opportunity arise to use it.
But as Little put it last week, the units “did not arrive until after the entire sequence of events was complete. … They were in Sigonella many hours after the attacks.” Two platoons of specially trained Marines had also been hustled to Sigonella, but again too late for intervention.
– Finally, there had been no “lasering” of the mortar position used to attack the CIA annex in the second phase of the assault. (That second phase occurred more than seven hours after the attack on the consulate had ended). There was no reason to use a laser in that fashion — the SEALs knew they had no air cover to intervene — and more importantly, no opportunity to do so.
According to the CIA, its personnel at the annex were not even aware that the mortars existed until mortar shells began falling on their position; from beginning to end, the deadly mortar attack lasted all of 11 minutes.
In conclusion, last week’s entire controversy was spectacularly, embarrassingly wrong-headed. No facts exist to justify the overheated rhetoric and allegations directed at Obama and top officials in his administration, but no apologies will follow either. Quite the contrary, I’m sure.

Morality? I think God has judged you already, and sentenced your poor soul with stupidity. Hell of a thing stupidity, it effects you vision, your hearing, even your looks, yet most people who have it don’t even know it. And it is a generational curse; it quiet often is passed from generation to generation, much like the tribe of Cane. I don’t know what you did to deserve such a severe case of it but not even Oral Roberts could cure what you’re sentenced with. One thing about stupidity it is general painless to the victim, but gives pain to others who are well and have to come in contact it.

OBAMA WINS – Stock Market predicts winner on Tuesday (absent Republican shenanigans)-
“”"”"”"”"”"”"”There is a 94% chance you’re going to read that headline on Wednesday morning.
That’s because the direction of stocks has been a solidly reliable predictor of prior presidential elections.
For Mitt Romney, this is grim news indeed.
Though I’ve discussed the market’s ability to predict elections before, here’s a quick review:
When the stock market sported gains in the two months before the election, the incumbent was re-elected 15 of 16 times. Conversely, when the stock market declined during that time, the opposition won 10 of 12 races. The combined data, which InvesTech Research compiled, shows that the stock market predicted the next president a mind-blowing 25 of 28 times (89.2%).”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”
http://www.wyattresearch.com/article/obama-wins-
And how much is the stock market up since the day Obama was inaugurated???????
Romney folks better start rigging those voting machines they control. Turn away 180,000 legitimate minority voters like they did in 2000 in Florida- Get Scalia ready to write an opinion that Mitt’s civil rights were violated by Candy Crolie; Get Fox News to announce Obama ordered the killing of those folks in Bengazhi and has a Muslim prayer mat in the White House, Bill Clinton caught in the act with a campaign aide; Ryan discovers Medicare is out of funds; Biden diagnosed with early dementia- Hurricane Sandy directed to NJ by secret military operation; Ben Laden Alive and living in Benghazi; GM and Chrysler bought out by Chinese firm; Romney releases his tax returns and paid astounding amount of taxes!
C’mon cons something might just work.

They should and I come to AJC. I have learned the progressive communists liberals have spent many hours educating themselves in propaganda and acquiring the ability to talk down to their own kind while keeping them as a base block for voting purposes. However I have also learned nothing is equal to them if it is not part of their agenda. Conservative women do not have equal rights as liberal women.

My point is that any and all presidents get too much undeserving credit for outcomes they have little or no control over..
Dodd Frank has nothing to do with profits…it is a failure because we lost and we still have 5 or so banks that are too big to fail….disaster of a risk to continue to take…why do you suppose Dodd Frank didn’t break them up (which would, among other things, create competition for banks to actually put meaningful money in play)?
They got money from all…particularly Goldmann…who basically dictates fiscal policy..

So what you are saying Jay is that we acted decisively, but we were just out planned, out maneuvered, out smarted, and then totally out gunned by a group of young people upset about a video.
Screw the news coverage about what did not happen. Just talk about what DID happened.
You seem to be saying that we did respond like the most powerful nation on earth, just way too late to be effective.
Cause no one could have read the August cable and thought we might be vulnerable and made any plans to respond if all hell broke loose on 9/11. Like the coordinated attack mentioned in the CABLE.
But President O led us fearllessly, and we did our very, very, very best but no options were available. Our ambassador and three other Americans just got lost in the fog of war and then killed. . . by a group of upset, well-armed video critics.
We really do just need to wait and read the comprehensive report. It will certainly make us feel better and give us a much more favorable version of the truth.

I don’t watch television news, period. When I did, I blocked the Fox News channel just to be sure that I didn’t accidentally end up wasting my time on it. I did go to lunch last week in an establishment that had Faux News on, and I was really surprised that they were trying to make the Libya thing the top story. My only thought was “Huh. That’s weird. That hasn’t been news in weeks.” Later on I heard the whole thing explained as a Fox News generated non-controversy. The conservative echo chamber is a very peculiar place.

I could not believe your comments regarding Benghazi and the death of four americans. Were did you aquire your information? And, Yes, you can move special forces within an hour off any carrier, outpost, etc. These special agents fought for 7 hours trying to stay alive thinking we were coming to save them. If one of the dead were your brother, son, father, cousin, etc., would you have researched it the same way you just attacked FOX News with your information? If you do not think this is a cover up or a major mistake in responding you are in another world. Try reporting with an open mind and do your own research as reporters use to do. Opinions or personal beliefs are not part of finding out the truth in journalism. Do yourself a favor, go back over the facts (memos, emails from the consulate and Stevens emails to the State Department) , Have you spoken to any of the actual people in charge who received the requests for help or the few who managed to get out with the help of the four who died, Also the White House and President said it was a terror attack during his third debate. Call him a lier…….. You are apparently very liberal and discount anything someone who is viewed as a conservative. How sad, I watch all news stations to get a feel of what our country is about. Unfortunately, people tend to take the word of mainstream media as gospel because they cannot form their own opinion, follow what their parents did or listen to neighbors.
Contact government offices connected to this scandal and use the “Freedom of Information Act” to acquire the documents to show the truth. It can’t be classified unless we are hinding something. When these Americans were killed they were on American soil, and the attack was considered an “An Act of War”. All countries have the same rights.

Name calling. Not much thought goes into that. Most republicans don’t know what a liberal is, just like they don’t know the Georgia state flag is a replica of the original confederate flag. Hate prevents thought. Anger allows you to follow the path of least resistance. In English. The President nor the SOS could have done anything to prevent or save the ambassador in Lybia. But exploiting the dead is a political trademark. That’s why we keep abortions around when we have had birth control for 50yrs.

It is that simple. $6,000,000,000,000 down the drain – mostly to Lib causes, kickbacks and payoffs to supporters won’t get my vote. $1,000,000,000,000 pledged by Obama for the “Muslim Brotherhood” who has as their ultimate goal to wipe out Israel and the U.S. won’t get my vote. Ignoring pleas for assistance by our Ambassadors and getting them killed won’t get my vote. This election is not about the Race Card, the Gender Card, the Age Card, the Victim Card, etc, etc etc like the SOCIALIST left wants it to be. It’s about the ECONOMY and Obama’s four year failure and tragic wasteful increase of the Fed debt. We can’t afford 4 more years of Obama. Time is short and the fiscal cliff is near. If Romney fails I will vote him out too. This isn’t about being loyal to a party – Dem or Repub. It’s about being loyal to what’s best for the health of the U.S. economy and our economic survival.

Where’s USMC with his “Obama lied, people died”?
It looks more like FNC lied or, at best, parroted individuals that have an agenda; Destroy Obama, even if they have to destroy the USA in the process.

Why is it always just god and jesus and no mention of the holy ghost?
Is there a bias against the heavenly haint?

Hopefully after the election, a John Dean whistle blower will step forward with the truth, although you willfully blind sycophants will be shouting him down as he/she tries to speak.
No, we will listen and weigh what they say. Then we come to a conclusion.
Then we will go back to mocking your kind for letting Fox News lead you around by your noses.

As to the alleged enthusiasm gap wherein the metric applied is the number of bumper stickers and yard signs?
I have observed that in my neck of the northern-ATL-burbs, generally, the GOP faithful were a bit slower to don the usual proclamations. in 2008, it seemed that these things sprouted up out of nowhere immediately after the national convention, i.e., right after Labor Day.
In 2012, I’ve seen a similar number of proclamations, but they all seemed appear right after the first debate.
Which would indicate, to me, that there is a lot of bandwagoneering going on. (pretty typical really, for either side–who wants to mess up their car if they know it’s in a lost cause?)

What is funny is that I have never said I didn’t lean left. I have stated that numerous times. As well as saying that while leaning left, I do not think either party does a good job of governing. Just because I agree more with the overall Democrat platform doesn’t mean I think they run the “show” any better than Republicans or agree with everything they do.
When they get caught up in a “blog name”, as you say, they have little to nothing to talk about.
That is Morality’s MO when he is unwilling to debate. He asked about my voting record for Presidents a few weeks ago. I listed them all out. Morality has yet to list who he has voted for except to say, he didn’t vote for Bush or Obama.
I’m on record stating that I think Obama is mediocre and I challenge anyone to show a post where I have did much praising of him.
They can show where I have ripped the right and numerous Republican politicians. In their mind that automatically equates to me agreeing with all things Democrat and all elected Democrats, I guess.

Joe Hussein Mama;
So you believe the Obozo lies? I left the democrat party after seeing that they ARE 100% NOT FOR THE PEOPLE, they are 100% about themselves. If you all like Obozo so much move the south side of Chicago, he has done such a good job there, right? You all cry about the “Bush” wars, but more people are shot and killed in the south side of Chicago than in both wars, yeah your correct he has done such a good job…right?

If they can make it against the law to cry ‘Fire!’ in a crowded theater when there isn’t one, they can make it against the law to report bogus news in an attempt to throw an election. This is voter fraud the most heinous kind. Where’s a good Attorney General when you need one.

Just because you want to believe something doesn’t make it true.
Refute what the article says and we all get a chuckle.
I nor you know the exact truth. You think you do because what you have heard meets your narrative, however that doesn’t make it so, no matter how bad you want to believe it.
You can click you heels together 1000 times, but no matter how bad you want to be in Kansas, unless you start walking, get in car or on a plane……. you wont be in Kansas.

Someon remind me how many Americans died on 9-11 while our so-called National Security advisor sis not do her job? and how many died while our president read “My Pet Goat”? And how many Americans died in Embassy attacks while Bush was in office? And how many American died in Iraq for a totally wasted war so that Iran would have an ally instead of an enemy? And how many died in Afghanistan to keep in power a corrupt government.?
And how many died in Libya to remove a dictator who was the first major terrorist to use a passenger airplane to kill Americans?
And how many Marines died in Lebanon when our saint of a president took no action and let Hezbollah claim victory?
Ahh but that evil black Muslim in the White House purposely let four Americans die in Benghhazi because he wanted to cover up his inability to wipe out Al-Quaida and actually sympathizes with radical Muslims who have infiltrated his government.
Quite a story- who wrote it ?Hannity; M. Bachmann or Limbaugh or Rove?

Morality?: “This election is not about the Race Card, the Gender Card, the Age Card, the Victim Card, etc, etc etc like the SOCIALIST left wants it to be. It’s about the ECONOMY”
Huh? That would be a very strange sort of socialism that cared only about things like gender and race and nothing at all about ECONOMY.
Socialism was born in a concern over the ECONOMIC ravages of capitalism and that continues to be the life and blood of any socialism worthy of the name.
