“The president has been all over this, he deserves great credit … He gave me his number at the White House, told me to call if I needed anything, and he absolutely means it.”
– Gov. Chris Christie, on “Morning Joe”
————————-
“The federal government’s response has been great. I was on the phone at midnight again last night with the president, personally, he has expedited the designation of New Jersey as a major disaster area … The president has been outstanding in this and so have the folks at FEMA.”
– Gov. Chris Christie, on “The Today Show”
————————-
“I want to just let you know that your governor is working overtime to make sure that as soon as possible everybody can get back to normal. The main message I wanted to send is the entire country has been watching what’s been happening. Everybody knows how hard Jersey’s been hit.”
– President Obama, speaking of Christie to residents in a shelter near Atlantic City
————————-
Is it just me, or is there an odd man out in this mutual admiration society?
In better times, this kind of demonstration of bipartisan cooperation and assistance in a time of crisis would almost go unremarked upon, but these are not those times. In a nation that hungers for such cooperation, even if it does not understand how to produce it, this kind of partnership stands out, to the benefit of the besieged people of New Jersey and, frankly, to the political benefit of the two men involved. As Obama made a point of noting, “the entire country has been watching what’s been happening.”
As an aside, it does make you wonder how this scenario might have played out had Christie been nominated as Mitt Romney’s running mate. You also have to think that there are people in the upper echelons of the Romney campaign cursing not just Christie but the weather gods as well. In a close-fought election, they have handed Obama an opportunity that he seems to have seized with both hands.

Kevin left Woodfire to open a new restaurant in Glenwood Park.
I think it is due to open early next year.
A shame, I LOVE Woodfire Grill.
Hope it remains as a terrific dining spot and really looking forward to Kevin’s new place.

Given that the cons have set up this false binary choice of EITHER you’re 100% in favor of everything Obama does OR ELSE you *absolutely* want to get rid of him AND THEREFORE you will vote for Romney, then no. There is no subject.
Now, if y’all could be *honest* about this and recognize that LOTS of us have criticized the President here on Jay’s BUT that we feel that regardless of his shortcomings and failings, Obama is still a better choice in our opinion than Romney is, then perhaps we could have a substantive discussion.

It’s just you, Bookman. Mean-spirited, hateful commentators like you refuse to admit that those in both parties want what they feel is best for Americans. They simply have different political philosophies as to how government best serves people.
So when someone you like to demonize for believing in a different philosophy doesn’t conform to your distorted beliefs, you are confused. You should be used to it, though, you seem permanently confused by life.
You need to grow up and at least try to understand the viewpoint of the opposing Party. There’s no ‘war’ on anyone, just a different opinion as to how to best serve people.
You won’t change though, because you are intellectually stunted, and maintain a juvenile view with a them vs us mentality.

Here’s my 2 cents. Christie is cozying up to Obama because he wants Mittens to lose the election. If Willard wins he’ll probably get a second term — placing the White House 8 years away. However, if Obama wins it’s just 4 years away; then he’d be facing either Joe or Hillary. Either way, it is really delicious that Christie’s change of heart is driving the GOP nuts and it’s enough to make Willard wet his pants!

With the Dems a tragedy is political opportunity. With Katrina we had a Dem governor and a Dem mayor who saw the opportunity to scapegoat the president who was a Repub. The state of Louisiana and the city of New Orleans were warned about what would happen with a hurricane the size of Katrina years before it happened but they declined to spend the money necessary to improve the sea walls. In New York we have all Dems and a Dem Prez in the White House. Who can they pass the blame on to? Certainly not their Dem Prez. Thousands of dislocated families and power outages every where. Total chaos just as bad as New Orleans but with the aid of the leftist news media this will be shown as a sham success for the Prez. We are not that naive and it will show come election day. ‘Morality” — “The state of Louisiana and the city of New Orleans were warned about what would happen with a hurricane the size of Katrina years before it happened but they declined to spend the money necessary to improve the sea walls.”
Sorry, no. Levee and flood barrier construction and maintenance in Louisiana is the responsibility of the Army Corps of Engineers, not of the state and the City of New Orleans.

“RIP, Pascual….I remember those days well….”
anyone else remember the 285 ordeal?
Indeed I do, but he wasn’t the only one. I attended a scheduled meeting in the mid-70s at a motel off Chamblee-Dunwoody Road. We waited and waited for a representative from the Savannah area to arrive. Finally, after 45 minutes, we began the meeting without her. She finally arrived an hour later. She explained that she was on I-285 and she finally noticed that she had passed the same landmark twice before. It was then she determined that she had been circling metropolitan Atlanta for almost two hours.

Now it’s factual, but still not true…

Like I said – you aren’t going to bad mouth Obama when his hand has to sign that gub’ment check. History will show Obama is inept and naive and never was qualified to be Prez. Just stating the obvious. I’m not a Repub or a Dem. Did not vote for “W” or Obama. I am a fiscal conservative. Obama is a fiscal liberal.

‘I am a fiscal conservative.’
How much will the Ryan plan (as passed by the House and endorsed by Romney) reduce the deficit over the next 10 years?

The deaths of the Navy Seals after requesting help three time is well known.
So well known you can’t substantiate it.
You’d think if these SEALS were willing to die for this country you could be arsed to post a simple link to remember their sacrifice, Keyboard Warrior.
The truth is y’all fright wingers have whipped yourselves into a frothy mess and don’t know what happened. People are claiming the president was watching live video links of these guys begging for their lives, or the president was in Las Vegas, or asleep, or…..(fill in the blank with more crazy stuff)
Y’all have poor reading comprehension and overactive imaginations. Added to your deep suspicion of the Kenyan camping in the White House and it’s a perfect storm.

Christie is a blue state Republican. When he gave the keynote speech at the Republican convention in Tampa he tooted his horn about his family, himself and his accomplishments. He barely mentioned Romney. It was clear he was not fully on board. Could it be he is no different than other cons like Ryan that when they see money available from the feds that will boost there standing with their constituents, they pony up to the bar even if a Democrat is tending bar? Or could it be he was offended by Mitt’s fake attempt to privatize FEMA’s role by going to Walmart and buying $5,000 of food and diapers? That political rally of Mitt’s was a farce.

Colin Powell and Warren Buffett are social and fiscal big gub’ment liberals that voted for Obama…. and why should I care what their opinion is? They were wrong when they voted for Obama and they are still wrong.

With credit and apologies due Rush Limbaugh, Have any of you big government liberals noticed the very first thing the “big government” Obama did to help the victims of hurricane Sandy was to suspend government regulations. Even he recognizes the government for the impediment it is. LOL.

‘and why should I care what their opinion is?’
Well, one is a highly decorated war hero that worked in both Bush Admins and the other is one of the wealthiest and savviest investors in the world.
But, I am sure you know more than they do…
