Fox New anchors, right-wing websites and talk-radio hosts around the country are ginning up a wave of mass hysteria about the decision by the Obama administration not to attempt a military rescue of Ambassador Chris Stevens in Libya. (Glenn Beck is even telling listeners that the treason is more widespread, and that Stevens was acting as a gunrunner for al Qaida in Libya and Syria. I kid you not.)
Obama’s crime is said to be so heinous that mere impeachment for refusing to intervene would be insufficient. If you Google the words “Benghazi” and “traitor,” you get some 518,000 hits, almost all of which cast President Obama as that traitor. The criticism extends as well to the mainstream media, which as my email informs me, is being accused of covering up a scandal of such dimensions that it would supposedly dwarf Watergate.
But I have a question.
According to NBC News, Mitt Romney hasn’t mentioned Libya in his campaign appearances around the country since Oct. 12, which is more than two weeks ago. Now why do you think that is?
Option one: Mitt has joined the mainstream media as part of the pro-Obama conspiracy of silence to protect the president.
Option two. Romney’s military and foreign affairs advisers have told him that not even a minimally responsible case can be made that Obama should have intervened militarily at Benghazi, and that Romney would deeply embarrass himself by suggesting such a step.
Let’s be clear: There is no indication — none — that U.S military officials advised the president or anyone in the administration that a rescue operation was possible, and that the administration ignored that offer. The evidence is entirely to the contrary.
As Defense Secretary Leon Panetta explained, “(The) basic principle is that you don’t deploy forces into harm’s way without knowing what’s going on; without having some real-time information about what’s taking place. And as a result of not having that kind of information, the commander who was on the ground in that area, Gen. Ham, Gen. Dempsey and I felt very strongly that we could not put forces at risk in that situation.”
That would be Gen. Carter Ham, the head of U.S. Africa Command, and Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. They are men of training and experience; they know where our military assets are located; they know their capabilities, and they know the difficulties involved in inserting and extracting an armed force into an uncertain situation in another country.
It is of course frustrating and heartbreaking to learn that CIA officers stationed near the Benghazi consulate had asked three times for military assistance and that those requests had been denied. But that is real life. This is not a Hollywood movie.
Here’s how Fox News reported the news above:
The most provocative piece of that report is the claim that a Special Forces team stationed at an air base in Signonella, Italy, two hours from Benghazi, was ready to intervene but orders were never given. But here’s how such mass hysteria gets fed by partial information, in both senses of the word “partial”. As it turned out, the Special Forces team in question was not based in Sigonella but had to be assembled and transported there from elsewhere in Europe.
“U.S. officials say (the team) did not arrive in Sicily until after the attack was over,” CBS reports. “Even if the team had been ready in time, confusion about what was happening on the ground in Benghazi — and State Department concerns about violating Libyan sovereignty — made a military rescue mission impractical, the officials say.”
Arguing against mass and willful hysteria using facts, logic and expert professional opinion is a losing battle, of course. It doesn’t matter that our top military people believed a rescue effort would be impractical and would probably end in the loss of even more American lives. What matters is that talk-show hosts and others can stir up millions of Americans raised on Rambo movies to believe that their leaders could have helped to rescue a well-respected U.S. diplomat and his team, but simply decided it wasn’t worth the effort. Because the president is a traitor.
That makes no sense. It is such a ridiculous notion that in most eras it would never even be broached in public debate. But this is an era in which many are predisposed to believe the most ridiculous things if it justifies their hatred of Obama, and a time in which when emotions are heightened by a hard-fought presidential campaign. So nonsense reigns.

At last, one of our never been there/never done that “experts” cites his source for his pompous lectures on how to handle national security.
Go back to watching Black Hawk Down in your mom’s basement. Maybe the CIA will recognize your genius when their secret DVD scanner informs them you’re on your 47th viewing.

Why didn’t the GOP give the DoD the funding they needed to perfect teleportation! If President Obama had used the flawed teleportation device to rescue the ambassador, we know what the outcome would have been and our President Obama could never allow that. The blame falls squarely on the GOP and their penny pinching ways.

The Republican Party has somehow filtered out common sense in its homogenous makeup and correct impulse that they are an endangered species. I was going to say nuts never got this far pass the security gate of either party but I think of a paranoid Nixon and take that back. As you quiet often find in the freefall of loose character, the lead actors have understudies. Watergate didn’t clean em all out, the clever ones were allowed to slink off into the dark, and show back up on later x-rays like cancer.
We talk about the minority races being violate, you seldom ever heard about the corrupt majority, that covertly and immorally mismanage information and sabotage to gain power. Agnew called them the silent majority, and there was a reason to stay silent, to not draw attention to their activities. As I listen to their lies and now am able to track who they are, and watch who soaks these lies up with pleasure, no measure for character or daylight for truth I see Nixon still stamped on this party. The Republican have recruited and attracted the bigotry that was the Democratic baggage, money from unnamed sources, to go with their already, disrespect for the constitution or any limitation on poor conduct and like Sandy have found the perfect storm of evil; after we thought we had past these times in our history.

The only wingnuts here are the ones that can’t see the blatant partisan double standard on display. Let’s assume George W. Bush’s State Department allowed something like this to happen through inaction or outright incompetence and then Predident Bush proceeded to fabricate some silly story about a low budget movie in an effort to cover up his culpability in the resulting mess. All you lefties would be apoplectic, calling for impeachment proceedings and criminal prosecutions.
The problem here is that liberals don’t have principles. They’re for whatever sounds good at the moment and nothing sounds better than four more years of the Dear Leader- truth, facts, logic and reason matter not.
Well, reality is going to come crashing down like a ton of bricks in one week. Go check out Gallup’s latest numbers on early voting. In Ohio alone there are 220,000 less Democrats and 30,000 more Republicans as compared to one week out in 2008. Romney is ahead 52% to 47% nationally in a poll with a sample size of 3300+ early voters.
Obama is in very big trouble and he knows it. He turned Air Force One around and headed back to Washington yesterday morning the moment those early voting numbers were released. He realized his problem is bigger than Florida and what better way to get national news coverage than jump on a national story. Obama didn’t know how bad the storm was going to be on Sunday afternoon when he boarded the plane headed for campaigning in Florida? I knew it was going to be a terrible storm on Sunday and the President didn’t? Give me a break!

Thank you so much for correcting me.
He said it two days after this:
Luntz had organized the dinner – telling the invitees, “You’ll have nothing to do that night, and right now we don’t matter anyway, so let’s all be irrelevant together.” He had selected these men because they were among the Republican Party’s most energetic thinkers – and because they all got along with Luntz, who could be difficult. Three times during the 2008 election cycle, Sean Hannity had thrown him off the set at Fox Studios. The top Republican in the House, Minority Leader John Boehner, had nurtured a dislike of Luntz for more than a decade. No one had to ask why Boehner wasn’t at the Caucus Room that evening.
[...]
The dinner lasted nearly four hours. They parted company almost giddily. The Republicans had agreed on a way forward:
Go after Geithner. (And indeed Kyl did, the next day: “Would you answer my question rather than dancing around it – please?”)
Show united and unyielding opposition to the president’s economic policies. (Eight days later, Minority Whip Cantor would hold the House Republicans to a unanimous No against Obama’s economic stimulus plan.)
Begin attacking vulnerable Democrats on the airwaves. (The first National Republican Congressional Committee attack ads would run in less than two months.)
Win the spear point of the House in 2010. Jab Obama relentlessly in 2011. Win the White House and the Senate in 2012.
“You will remember this day,” Newt Gingrich proclaimed to the others as they said goodbye. “You’ll remember this days as the day the seeds of 2012 were sown.” [Do Not Ask What Good We Do, pp. xvi-xix]

Jay, this sorta feeds into the notion that anyone who disagrees with Obama is either a racist or a wing-nut ad nauseum. If what some of us believe to be appropriate concern is in fact, hysteria, then why is it the mainstream media is not covering the issue in depth to put it to rest? That would seem to be their job – to get to the bottom of it and investigate the truth of any supposedly hyperbolic claims. That’s what CNN’s Erin Burnett and Anderson Cooper have done – not just Fox – but the rest of the media is playing softball and avoiding the issues. Perhaps that is because asking more questions will only serve to reveal more discrepancies and more vague answers from the White House that only make matters worse.
If the GOP and the hysterical right-wingers are wrong, then someone needs to come forward and prove it.

The lies and cover-up are bad enough but the most frightening aspect of all of this is Jay and his left minnions who continue to support this failure of a POTUS. The USA can recover from this President’s far left agenda and attempts to destroy the economy and capitalism. The difficult thing to overcome is the ignorance of the Obama supporters.
Stop claiming the Generals agreed with Panetta. You know no such thing. The Generals speak and Panetta makes the decision. To leave Americans under attack for 7 hours without offering aid is unforgiveable. Air support was minutes, not hours away, and the failures are the administration and that is all there is to say.
Obama and his gang of trolls tried CYA for weeks and the more the Left cries about unrealistic attacks from the Right and “conspiracy”, the more foolish every Leftie who follows the company line begins to appear.

People in Ohio said that they WILL NOT be fooled by Mitt Romney's false ad*** No October surprise!
October 30th, 2012
9:39 am
“Who will do more to support the auto industry? Not Barack Obama,” a male narrator says, adding, “Mitt Romney has a plan to help the auto industry.” The ad then shows video of Lee Iacocca, noting Romney had been endorsed by the longtime auto executive.
The ad then cuts to images of old cars being crushed. “Obama took GM and Chrysler into bankruptcy and sold Chrysler to Italians who are going to build jeeps in China,” the narrator says. “Mitt Romney will fight for every American job.”
ANALYSIS: This ad, airing in Ohio, a major battleground state, in the campaign’s final days, is an effort by the Romney campaign to turn Obama’s decision to bail out General Motors and Chrysler against the president.
Romney’s opposition to the bailout has bedeviled him in Ohio, where thousands of auto industry jobs were saved by the federal intervention. Polls show Romney consistently trailing Obama in Ohio, and a loss there would make it extremely difficult for the Republican hopeful to assemble the 270 electoral votes needed for victory.
The ad, while technically accurate in its claims, is misleading.
Its assertion that Obama took GM and Chrysler through bankruptcy is true. But the ad fails to mention the billions in government loans he extended to the two companies that allowed them to come out of bankruptcy and reorganize. Both companies are now profitable.
Romney also pressed for GM and Chrysler to go bankrupt, which he does not mention in this ad. He also wrote in a widely publicized New York Times column that if the companies received a government bailout, “You can kiss the American automotive industry goodbye.”
It’s true that Chrysler is now largely owned by Fiat, an Italian auto company that purchased a large stake in Chrysler when it was going through its bankruptcy reorganization. Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne gave Chrysler management expertise and technology that has helped the company make a comeback.
It’s also true that Chrysler is looking to produce some of its Jeep product line in China. But the company’s plans do not threaten Jeep production in the United States, as the ad seems to suggest.
The ad is more carefully worded that Romney’s claim in Ohio last week that “one of the great manufacturers in this state, Jeep, now owned by the Italians, is thinking of moving all production to China.” Democrats cried foul, and Chrysler quickly released a statement saying it had “no intention” of shifting production from the U.S. to China. A company spokesman said Chrysler would build new plants in China to satisfy demand in Asia and elsewhere but that “U.S. Jeep assembly lines will continue to stay in operation.”

Obama is only up by ten according to their projection. The kicker is that North Carolina is not a toss up! Romney is solidly ahead in every serious poll in the State. So far in fact, that Pew stopped polling there a few weeks ago. Go look up North Carolina’s recent statewide referendum on gay marriage. Good question…one of the others or none at all I reckon…I simply think the issue is not who is in office, but whether the government is functional which is clearly is not what with officials spending 30% of time raising money….subordinating our interests will below self serving objectives and especially big money..they have to pay for favors with votes..its completely dysfunctional ergo we only get flawed results..fiscal cliff is a shining example…nobody wants to cut anything that is a source for campaign cash…
Seems we could simply cut 20% out of defense and 10% out of everything else combined with modest tax increases (but not on businesses)…I don’t think the 1%’ers are alarmed about an increase they are more upset about how it will ge wasted…its only 80 billion a year anyhow..

“and State Department concerns about violating Libyan sovereignty — made a military rescue mission impractical, the officials say.”
Man, some people just buy the BS spin way too easily. So, now we’re more concerned about violating the sovereignty of a failed state like tiny Libya than, say, nuclear armed Pakistan?
Whatever….

sagegirl – Check out the link below and then the articles and videos regarding Sensata Corp in Freeport ILL, now owned by Bain Capital. The plant is closing and Mitt Romney’s profit in outsourcing the plants 170 jobs is $500,000. Where are the jobs going you ask. Well they’re being shipped overseas. Care to guess where…??? China, of course.
It would make much better sense to go bankrupt and out of business here huh?…either way those jobs are gone

The kicker is that North Carolina is not a toss up!
and neither is Michigan, but this is RCP, a place where right wingers can seek polling aid and comfort in a general election (at least it was in 2008)
if you click the RCP “no tossups” linkee, you have what Obama’s been polling in terms of EVs since mid-summer: 290 to Romney’s 248. What everyone seems to be forgetting is that the convention bounce afforded Obama was the anomaly; this is just regression to the mean, far as I can tell.
but who knows, maybe Team Romney can pull a rabbit out of its hat. It’s going to need to, with just five working days left.

Let’s see, disregarding truth – birthers, facts – Ryan budget removes same money Romney claims the presidents plan does, logic – a woman’s body will shut down to prevent pregnancy during “legitimate rape”??? and reason – what’s the reason why Romney won’t release 10 years of tax returns?
You’re not suppose to look into the barrel.

jobs outsourced to China
must be a reason
corporate tax structure to be redone to make the USA competitive,
taking care of currency in China would be helpful
supply and demand— simple economic learnings—— if someone had paid attention in economics classes.
Community organizers probably missed these classes.
American public demands cheaper goods———- if the public bought enough American made only that would also help. Obama can not fix what he does not understand. Also making corrections in capitalism is so un-socialistic and that is what Obama really wants——– no achievers allowed — keep everyone equal but below middle class as it is today.——- Stalin had a similar plan.

According to NBC News, Mitt Romney hasn’t mentioned Libya in his campaign appearances around the country since Oct. 12, which is more than two weeks ago. Now why do you think that is?
Jay left out a the third option which is when the enemy is shooting themselves why help? The arguement Panetta makes that it was too dangerous is reason to relieve him of any further responsibility for command of our military. The military has one job which obviously Panetta doesn’t understand. The military’s job is to “PROTECT” and “DEFEND” this nation, its citizens and Property from “ALL” enemies. In Panettea’s view he only defends if it is safe! Wow! Jay thinks everything is just fine and the political right” or correct side of this disagreement thinking the government should have lifted a finger to protect our embassy people are wrong. Amazing and shameless. But then consider the source as a left spokesperson common sense is too much to expect. Meantime in Jay’s view six weeks of contnuous lying by every left wing nut remotely associated with the white house including the president himself isn’t really needed because nothing happened to begin with. When the president alledgedly gave the order to get Bin Laden the white house could get videos out fast enough to make the president seem to be something that it is now apparent he is not. But this time, the video is hidden not only from we the people but from congress as well. What a bunch of lying scum run this country.

2-Chrysler Group profit up 80 pct, affirms 2012 outlook
DETROIT, Oct 29 (Reuters) – Chrysler Group LLC posted an 80 percent rise in quarterly net income on Monday on stronger new vehicle sales, continuing the U.S. automaker’s comeback from its 2009 bankruptcy.
Chrysler, majority owned by Italy’s Fiat SpA, also reaffirmed its outlook for the year. Fiat will issue its earnings on Tuesday.
Net income in the third quarter rose to $381 million from $212 million a year earlier. Net revenue increased 18 percent to $15.48 billion.
Globally, Chrysler’s auto sales rose 12 percent to 556,000 vehicles in the quarter.
“We’ve changed the conversation at Chrysler Group,” said Sergio Marchionne, chief executive of both Chrysler and Fiat.
Chrysler reaffirmed its 2012 forecast that calls for net income of about $1.5 billion on net revenue of about $65 billion.
Accounting for the full-year outlook, Chrysler expects fourth-quarter net income of about $210 million on revenue of $16.4 billion.
Chrysler’s free cash flow will be “well in excess” of $1 billion for the year, Marchionne said.

You couldn’t write stuff more kooky than the following.
An Irvine resident is requesting that the city install a sign to memorialize the hundreds of fish killed in a traffic crash in early October as they were being taken to Irvine Ranch Market.
In the letter, Dina Kourda, on behalf of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, asks the city’s street maintenance superintendent to place the sign at the site of the crash on Walnut and Yale avenues.
The sign would read, “In memory of hundreds of fish who suffered and died at this spot,” to remind tractor-trailer drivers of their responsibility to the animals who are “hauled to their deaths every day,” according to the letter provided by PETA.

I find it chilling that people will support the likes of an incompetent community organizer again with blood on his hands and dismiss his latest deadly “bump in the road”. The first was Fast & Furious. This is one of the reasons that the choice in this election is so important.
We have witnessed the consequences of electing incompetent people to run this country. We have witnessed the consequences of a biased media to suppress the vital information to the electorate. And we have seen the consequences of the left in their expressions of lunacy like the Occupy people and liberal Bookmanites. For anyone to deny the obvious mistakes of this present Administration bodes trouble for a healthy nation. It is one thing to disagree and compromise, but it is another to shut out all
forms of common sense. This country works best on center position politics. This country has never worked well on leftist “progressive” thought. Such nonsense is better served with socialists and communists.
Obama is more concerned with his image of strength and protector. These cheap politicizing theatrics have led to deadly results. He and his administration are liars. They are out of their league and they are surrounded by people who are out of their league. Re-election or career advancement is their only purpose of existence.
The Benghazi consulate could have been minimally been overflown with armed assets within an hour of the attack. It had the capability. Crowd dispersion could have been achieved without force from low overflights. Any failure to disperse should have been met with guided munitions. Boots on the ground should have been initiated from the get go. This country need not worry about offending murderers.
The problem lies with the people and the mind-set of the people running this country. Appeasement breeds weakness and causes loss of life. Re-election for the purpose of retaining a liberal agenda causes loss of life.
To all you deniers out there…it’s not just Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannidy, and conservative people who are calling the Benghazi murders a cover-up. It is now the majority of this country calling it a cover-up.
Wake up and smell the coffee.

“FACT – It was well known that Obama had modified his campaign schedule in advance of the storm so that he could return to Washington to monitor the damage.”
So, he just wanted to joy ride around on Air force One? Nothing changed regarding storm predictions. He flew from Washington to Florida on Sunday. Then woke up and flew back Monday morning. Why?
Romney changed his plans after Obama declared a de facto moritorium on campaigning. It was a solid tactical play on Obama’s part. Obama gets to go home and campaign all day from the situation room and Romney has to sit on his hands in a hotel room somewhere. Nobody’s saying Obama isn’t a skilled politician. How else do you go from the Illionis State House to The White House in a couple of years?
