Playing music for the joy of it? What a radical thought!

Good musicians — good young musicians — are making fine music these days, even if it’s sometimes hard to get noticed in this hyper-fragmented media world. You may have heard a song or two from tonight’s group, the Lumineers, out of Colorado, (this one has become an ad soundtrack) but they’re consistently good, and they play because they just love the music.

Just watch. It’s infectious.

Oscar, 8:56 am,

“In the begging, 1790 the Bill of Rights only applied to rich white males, as did the right to vote.
We have come a long way since then.”
=============================================

This nation can quickly move back to the limitations of the 18th century, if citizens do not, first, recognize the surface realities and downright lies being spun to the populace, currently, by those in today’s Republican leadershp for their personal gain, and, then, speak up against what these politicians are saying, as well as vote against the backward direction into which they are taking America. A nation can regress, in terms of its liberties for all Americans, in only one generation if people close their eyes and their voices to the deeper realities of what is happening. One example, among many others: Equal rights for women.

Thanks to George W. Bush and our current crop of lying Republican politicians, we’re a lot further down that “regress” road than most people realize.

indigo, you “get” it, imo, but from, what I have read and observed, there are forces of greater power/wealth than George W. Bush involved in this huge transformation of America. Thanks for stating your awareness for others, also, to be made more aware if only they will choose to see.

This song was already old in the 70’s ,but, for some reason these bar wenches in Thailand kept playing it over and over on the juke box.

The diy instruments go with the floating melody. The raspy voices sing a charm beyond the melody. I wonder how a chorus could tie together the song structure.
