A civil rights icon does it Gangnam style
A brief note of introduction:
“Gangnam” is a district of Seoul, South Korea. PSY is a South Korean rapper/video star — think of a cross of MC Hammer with Pee Wee Herman — from the Gangnam district. “Gangnam Style” is PSY’s worldwide viral dance video hit, viewed more than 500 million times on Youtube so far. (Original here.)
With that as background, here’s a video put together by the Asian American Legal Advocacy Center here in Atlanta, urging people to register and vote. You may recognize some of the settings — the state Capitol, the MLK silhouette on Freedom Parkway. You may also recognize the older voting-rights champion who gamely dances Gangnam-style to get his message across.
Whatever you think of his politics, you have to admire a politician who doesn’t take himself too seriously. Personally, I would pay a lot to see Barack Obama and Mitt Romney in a dance-off, Gangnam-style.

Well, this must be awkward. The Salt Lake Tribune, the paper of record in Salt Lake City — which is also the city with the largest Mormon population in the country — has just gone and endorsed Barack Obama rather than fellow Mormon Mitt Romney. In an editorial, the paper praises and thanks Romney for his outstanding work in 2002, when the Olympics, organized by Romney, showed the world the city’s best. But the editors say it was Romney’s “shape shifting” during the nomination process, from courting the Tea Party to the GOP’s far-right contingent that made them wary of the candidate. The paper calls Obama’s leadership “decisive,” and says he has earned a second term, whereas Romney “does not deserve a first.”

On the show, Palast also presents a video report detailing how Mitt Romney used Ann Romney’s blind trust to put millions of dollars in a hedge fund that bought Delphi for sixty-seven cents a share, received more than $12 billion in bailout funds and moved almost every one of its autoplants to China.

It all starts with Delphi Automotive, a former General Motors subsidiary whose auto parts remain essential to GM’s production lines. No bailout of GM—or Chrysler, for that matter—could have been successful without saving Delphi….Delphi, once the Delco unit of General Motors, was spun off into a separate company in 1999. Alone, Delphi foundered, declaring bankruptcy in 2005, after which vulture hedge funds, led by Silver Point Capital, began to buy up the company’s old debt. Later, as the nation’s financial crisis accelerated, Singer’s Elliott bought Delphi debt, as did John Paulson & Co. John Paulson, like Singer, is a $1 million donor to Romney.

Good Monday morning all y’all…even Huh? (I think Huh? is our old LA). I’ve got nothing much to say other than “Go Mitt, go far, far away”.
Short week for me this week, taking Thursday and Friday off to do God’s work…raking, trimming, etc. As Josef says, God put them there but he never picks them up. After that my wife and I will do more of Gods work by going to vote for President Obama. Good week for us!
