As we saw this morning on the abortion issue, this just brushes the surface of Romney’s recent flipflops. But it’s telling nonetheless:
It makes me want to learn video-editing software.

I’d take him any day against Bozo the amateur. This Libya thing is going to stick to the wall and the press, excluding Bookman, is going to be forced to acknowledge it despite their misgivings. It’s just too big for anyone with half a brain to ignore. Clinton, Bozo, Carney and Rice all knew they were not telling the truth, yet they fed us this BS story about some video just to cover this whole sordid mess up. Clinton should, at best, resign. Rice was just tooting the Bozo horn but she should also resign. Carney, obviously, lied and Bozo….. we haven’t heard anything from him but apologies, video stories and shuckin’ and jivin’. This is the biggest thing since Watergate and we don’t hear a word from our “opinion journalist”, Bookman. Your silence is deafening.

Pre-debate Romney vs debate-and-post debate Romney.
If, in fact, the reports of son Tagg (and wife?) telling him ‘enough of this. Be youself. Get back to what you were because we don’t recognize you and you don’t need the farright now” are correct, then I’ll take what comfort I can in hoping that a Romney Administration won’t be a new Dark Age of Conservatism.
‘course, he still needs to get rid of much of his foreign policy team (and I’ve read reports there is dissension in the ranks) but at least Romney’s made a start in the right direction. (Get it? “Right direction” by moving Left?) -

Well, time to sign out for the night but before I go I want to talk about something that interests me. Ever notice that the people in real trouble advertise like crazy? Take Kroger for example. They’ve been all over the ajc for two weeks now with pop-up ads and ads that make it hard to read what you want to read. I reckon they thought I wouldn’t notice that nickle-a-can increase on dog food or the fruit that was hard and unripe. And this Katie Couric must be headed down the tubes where she belongs. She’s on about every page you click on. Couldn’t happen to a nastier person.

And Romney is “walking back” (I really don’t like that phrase) his abortion comments from earlier this week. As of earlier today is again fully pro-life rather than pro-life but having no plans to push laws that would limit choice, or something like that. Tune in tomorrow for another episode of “The Romney Turns.”
I’m am going to be really chapped if this guy wins. It isn’t really even a matter of I disagree with most everything he stands for (at least on alternate days and depending on his internal polls). He shouldn’t be able to do too, too much harm if the Dems hold the Senate and grow some “Spanish body part descriptor deleters” and use the filibuster like the GOP has for even minor legislation and, more importantly for upcoming Supreme Court appointments. But, this big lie stuff bugs me. I love everyone, this month and I’m not talking about that other stuff you have on tape. Jeez.

My WHAT??? My racism is showing. What a joke. What an idiotic statement from someone who wouldn’t know intelligent thought if it was hand fed to her. This has nothing to do with this arrogant buffoon’s race, my dear. It has everything to do with what a rank amateur he is about coming clean when he screws up. And that seems to happen more often than not. He is our president, at least for a few more months and he is expecting the American electorate to believe this fairy tale about Libya? He lied to us, lynnie. He lied to you. Doesn’t that upset you? Wouldn’t you expect anyone to be just a little upset about this clown’s inability to handle a foreign policy crisis such as this? He is supposed to be our leader, protector of the faith, commander and chief of our armed forces, leader of the free world….. and he has fallen woefully short of expectations. Racism indeed.

Speaking of liars Jay, what about this Benghazi thing?” Obama sat and lied on the Letterman show and The View and everywhere else (multiple times on the stump) about “the film” causing this but yet none of you in the mainstream media thought this weird even when faced with the facts that he and his administration and our intelligence knew otherwise. Now the facts are starting to reveal that he knew all about it and they knew that the ambassador was in danger but did nothing. He cannot bring himself to say the word “terrorist attack” can he? Why? Is his liberal mindset so great that the cannot tell the truth and he is willing sell out and lie to the American people in his attempt to placate the Islamists? Or does he still believe his own dillusional and misguided press that he is the great uniter for the world? His weakness is held in contempt in the mid-east and the rest of the world and all of them (China, Russia, etc, etc,) see it as something to be used for their advantage. His weakness is also held in contempt in the US but he and those members of his adoring press such as yourself are too diluded to acknowledge it. God man, do you have any integrity at all?

And this lie causes real pain and suffering.
After watching the above videos….consider this.
.
•Federal prosecutors have threatened to arrest state employees for administering state laws, resulting in stalled programs and reduced patient access.
•U.S. Attorneys in California recently revived the Bush era tactic of threatening to seize property from landlords who rent to medical marijuana facilities.
•After 9 years of failing to respond, the DEA recently denied a petition to reschedule marijuana, ignoring a vast body of scientific evidence proving the drug’s medical efficacy.
•Federal threats have caused numerous banks to close the accounts of businesses that provide medical marijuana to qualified patients.
•The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms issued a surprising statement that medical marijuana patients may not purchase firearms.
•The IRS is shaking down medical marijuana providers for millions of dollars based on an obscure tax provision aimed at drug traffickers.
•A federal prosecutor even threatened to target newspapers that run ads for medical marijuana services.
•And, of course, the DEA continues to raid tax-paying businesses that are legal under state law.

on a positive note, as Atrios reports, “Hopefully Schumer did just manage to destroy a grand bargain.”
http://news.firedoglake.com/2012/10/10/republicans-to-schumer-youre-ruining-everything/
Chuck Schumer definitely got under the skin of Republicans yesterday by suggesting that Democrats were being led into a “tax reform” trap. Until this point, Republicans had been fairly cagey about their tax plans for a grand bargain, but they were able to garner a mild consensus over the concept of broadening the tax base while lowering the rates. Far too many Democrats joined them in this theoretical agreement. And Schumer basically called it a con job. You know he was on the right track, given the responses at the upper echelon of the Republican leadership.

Anything Mitt may have said that’s conflicting pales in comparison to the conflicting words spoken between this White House and State Department with the facts concerning the tragic deaths of Americans in Libya. Not even to mention the conflicting accounts being given by various members within Obama’s administration including Obama himself. Obama’s credibility along with his poll numbers are dropping like a rock with just a few weeks away from the election. We could be looking at a potential Romney landslide.

My B-I-L works for DoD and we both hold TS security clearances. We had a discussion on Benghazi a few days ago and though his area is site security, it is NOT for consular operations. Even though there were no specifics discussed, if I were to post what was said, it would look like this:
“well, what [REDACTED] does is [REDACTED] and once that is known we [REDACTED] so that is how [REDACTED] decides to [REDACTED]”
This is what is so attractive to the GOP, there is simply no way for the administration to defend itself as the actual reasons, actions and intel used will never see the light of day.

Washington (CNN) – Following a string of recent developments that suggest waning Protestant power – like the first Supreme Court with no Protestant justices, and a Protestant-free Republican presidential ticket – a new Pew survey finds that Protestants are no longer the majority in the United States.
The Protestant population has declined from 53% of the U.S. population in 2007 to 48% this year, according to the survey by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life, released Tuesday.
The results mark the first time since Pew has been tracking the country’s religious demographics that the share of Protestant Christians in the United States has dipped significantly below 50%.
The largest decline among Protestant subgroups tracked by Pew was among white mainline Protestants, whose proportion of the population dropped 3 percentage points, from 18% to 15%.
The study also found that the fastest growing “religious group” in the country is people who are not affiliated with any religion.

(Reuters) – In 2008, singer will.i.am provided Barack Obama’s presidential campaign with music for its signature anthem, “Yes We Can.” On Tuesday, at a rally for Obama in Columbus, Ohio, the performer chose to play something new: the theme song for “Sesame Street.”
For Obama’s supporters, already dismayed by the president’s halting performance in last week’s debate with Republican Mitt Romney, that change in tune is a new source for concern as they fret that a children’s TV show has become a new backdrop for their candidate’s campaign

Romney is looking at the numbers in Virginia and Ohio, crucial swing states, and realizing that women are very angry about the harsh restrictions that state legislators, a bunch of morally corrupt old white men, have put on their legal right to choose abortions in those states. POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. —
A church outside Atlanta has won a battle to stop a Walmart Supercenter from selling alcohol.
The Marietta Daily Journal reports (http://bit.ly/RcaFo9) that Cobb County commissioners on Tuesday denied a request from the Powder Springs store to have a wine and beer package license.
The vote was 4-1, with county chairman Tim Lee alone in support of the sales.
The store wanted the commission to waive its restriction of selling alcohol within 600 feet of a church.
The Rev. Bobby Wood of Pine Grove Baptist Church had said congregation members are asking commissioners not to approve the waiver for the store on Barrett Parkway.
Powder Springs is about 20 miles northwest of Atlanta.

Jack in Cumming………when Romney says his tax plan will help the middle class he is lying. And when Obama says his tax plan will help the middle class he is also lying.
This is certainly not news; the way a group gets favorable legislation in Washington is to send a boat load of bagmen (lobbyists) to convince Congress to give them special treatment. The lobbyists get Congress to act on their behalf by paying bribes (campaign contributions.) Party affiliation is not relevant, all votes are for sale.
The only way this will ever change is to take the money completely out of politics. Until then the one sure bet is that the middle class will continue to get screwed.

Why isn’t anyone more concerned that this clown is a mormon? Has no one researched that the mormon church was essentially a ponzi scheme started by a crook named joseph smith like 120 years ago? Gay marriage destroys the institution of marriage. What does having 7 wifes say to a sacred institution? These people require a newly married couple to have sex on the alter of the church. They also make people wear odd underpants. We know that Romney has never flip flopped about being a mormon. That means that the only thing the we know he stands for is having multiple partners and having sex with them in public in a sacred place. Jesus does not accept these raging perverts into salvation anymore he allows hard homosexuals.

…The latest incriminating information on the U.S. consulate attack in Benghazi, Libya indicates that the State Department turned down a request for additional security from concerned U.S. embassy staff.
New evidence shows there were security threats in Libya in the months prior to the deadly September 11 attack that killed U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans. Despite these threats, the State Department left its personnel there to fend for themselves.
And when the terrorist attack did take place, the Obama Administration peddled the ridiculous story that an offensive, amateurish, anti-Islam YouTube video was to blame in order to avoid characterizing the murders of four Americans as terrorism…

“He shouldn’t make my son’s death part of his political agenda. It’s wrong to use these brave young men, who wanted freedom for all, to degrade Obama,” said Barbara Doherty, the mother of the slain Navy SEAL Glen Doherty.
She added, “I don’t trust Romney.”

He slammed the Obama administration for initially saying the attack was in response to a video and not an act of terrorism, delivering a blistering and impassioned critique of the White House’s handling of the incident.
Gowdy quoted Rice as saying, “Our current assessment is that what happened in Beghazi was…in fact, initially a spontaneous reaction” to an anti-Muslim YouTube video.
“I don’t know what the phrase “in fact” means in diplomatic legalese. I can tell you what it means in a court room, it means it’s a fact,” Gowdy proclaimed.

On January 17, 1987, a racially-mixed group of protesters (normally estimated at between 75 and 90 people) marching with Rev. Hosea Williams near Cumming, Georgia, headed for the Forsyth County Courthouse.
It was widely believed at the time that Forsyth County had no African-Americans living within its borders, although government census records show a very small number of Blacks (4 in 1960, 1 in 1980) did live within the county. “They was throwing rocks before we even got off the bus. First they broke the windows; then they broke our heads” according to Robert Thompson, who marched with Williams.
Marchers carried signs, one of which said “Give Brotherhood a Chance.” Some of the racists carried signs, one saying “Sickle-Cell Anemia – The Great White Hope.” The real confrontation, however, came shortly after marchers turned the corner on Highway 9. On two small hills that abut the road a quarter mile from the turn stood a group of 400-500 mostly male segregationists. Approaching the men on the hill march leaders did not think there would be a violent outburst because of the presence of uniformed police.
Racial insults, however, quickly escalated into a violence as militant segregationists broke through police lines, attacked and disbursed the group. Scenes of the violence brought back memories of Bloody Sunday on the Edmond Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama in 1965. During the confrontation, Hosea Williams was struck by a rock. Police regained control of the situation, arresting 55 protesters including David Duke.
Bonnie M. Pike, an inspector of field operations for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation told The Associated Press, “We lost control of the crowd.” The Forsyth County Sheriff, Wesley C. Walraven Jr., said he had not been prepared for the large turnout of segregationists protesting the march.
The violence against the Civil Rights marchers caused an immediate reaction. Mead Corporation, a manufacturer of paper and supplies, terminated ongoing negotiations with Forsyth County to build a plant that would have meant 5,000 jobs. Ku Klux Klan leader Grand Dragon David Holland boasted the day after the march that “the Klan drove Hosea Williams and his busload of race traitors [from Cumming] with three or four windows gone.

…In his speech — delivered in a ghetto-style accent that Obama doesn’t use anywhere except when he is addressing a black audience — he charged the federal government with not showing the same concern for the people of New Orleans after hurricane Katrina hit as they had shown for the people of New York after the 9/11 attacks, or the people of Florida after hurricane Andrew hit…
…Obama’s true believers may not want to know the truth. But there are millions of other people who have simply projected their own desires for a post-racial America onto Barack Obama. These are the ones who need to be confronted with the truth, before they repeat the mistake they made when they voted four years ago.

Tea Partier……….as for you comments about Romney being a Mormon let me suggest a refresher course on the US Constitution. Specifically Article VI, Paragraph 3:
“No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.”
This is, of course, a big part of the problem with the GOP. It’s turned into a fundmentalist religious party that thinks it’s political philosophy is superior to that of James Madision, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, John Adams and our great founders who were dead set on keeping religion out of the federal government. And notice I do not say the GOP has turned into a Christian party; there is nothing Christ-like about their perverted agenda.
The religious right deserve to be treated like that little white waver at the bottom of a uninal. Their goals are absolutely opposed to the intent of our Founding Fathers.

Hey Jack: what grew the “welfare state” was the meteoric rise in unemployment after the worst recession in decades, caused by Republican policies and spending and unfunded tax cuts for eight years. Who was it that started his first term with a budget surplus and lost it and ran the economy in the ditch? Who was it that couldn’t even show his face at his party’s convention this year for fear of the pall of his presence? If you want to figure out why the “welfare state” grew, ask some of the folks who had to apply for it to feed their kids after they lost jobs that couldn’t be replaced.

I’m gonna have to look for video tomorrow, but that’s the only thing I’ve seen that addresses that. Rubin, in her rightful duties, paints the hearing as devastating for the administration. She never approaches the subject of the CIA being outted by her party. I think they should be investigated for that crap. Chaffetz just came back from there, so he should have known better. I don’t know if that rates as high crimes or misdemeanors, but something has to be done.
Hell, I talk to people everyday coming from that part of the world. I know better than to out a CIA agent if I even remotely suspect someone as being one.

“Associated Press – October 10, 2012
BRUSSELS — The United States has sent troops to Jordan to bolster its military capabilities in the event Syria’s civil war escalates, U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said Wednesday, reflecting U.S. concerns about the conflict spilling over allies’ borders and about the security of Syria’s chemical weapons arsenal.
Speaking at a NATO conference of defense ministers, Panetta said the U.S. has been working with Jordan to monitor chemical and biological weapons sites in Syria and also to help Jordan deal with refugees pouring over the border from Syria.”
Reuters is reporting “the team had been in Jordan for several months and was there when Panetta visited King Abdullah in early August. The number of troops in the team has since grown, but there are no specific plans to expand it further, the official said. “We have been working with Jordan for a period of time now … on a number of the issues that have developed as a result of what’s happened in Syria,” Panetta told a news conference in Brussels.”

It has a high dispersion rate and is more effective in enclosed areas making its efficacy as a multi-modal weapon very limited. If the US’s concerns were great enough to warrant the death’s of 4000 soldiers, why then did we wait until 2003 to do so?

From that bastion of liberalism msnbc
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25546334/ns/world_news-mideast_n_africa/t/secret-us-mission-hauls-uranium-iraq/
The last major remnant of Saddam Hussein’s nuclear program — a huge stockpile of concentrated natural uranium — reached a Canadian port Saturday to complete a secret U.S. operation that included a two-week airlift from Baghdad and a ship voyage crossing two oceans.
The removal of 550 metric tons of “yellowcake” — the seed material for higher-grade nuclear enrichment — was a significant step toward closing the books on Saddam’s nuclear legacy. It also brought relief to U.S. and Iraqi authorities who had worried the cache would reach insurgents or smugglers crossing to Iran to aid its nuclear ambitions.

The real intell wasn’t wrong, the fixed intell was wrong.
I choose to believe USAF Lt. Col. K. Kwiatkowski, assigned to the pentagon during this time.
She claims the fix was in for Iraq, never mind the intell.
It was well known that 95% of the wmds had already been destroyed or otherwise accounted for, she sez.
As Huffington Post Senior Editor Marc Cooper wrote in a profile of Kwiatkowski for LA Weekly:
(snipped)
Though a lifelong conservative, Kwiatkowski found herself appalled as the radical wing of the Bush administration, including her superiors in the Pentagon planning department, bulldozed internal dissent, overlooked its own intelligence and relentlessly pushed for confrontation with Iraq.
(snip)
The biggest shock I had in May 2002 was finding that the war plan for invasion of Iraq was in its second draft – it was ready to go. We were ready to invade Iraq in the Spring of 2002.

I really don’t know “fixed” vs “real” intel.
I do know that over 4,400 military service members are dead because Bush II decided to invade Iraq under false pretenses.

And how many are dead because of the incompetence of Obama? I know of at least 4 who died on Sept. 11th in Libya.
Ask someone in the military who they support, Obama or Bush.

Ohhhhh….now I get it, there are 4 dead Americans because of “a movie”. Whew…I can now go to bed. I thought it was terrorists that did it, but I forgot that Obama has already taken care off all the terrorists.
I hope he gets out of office before more Americans are killed.

Obama supporter?
Really? Where did you get that?
I simply asked you to specify what YOUR issues were, not Fox nor Rush nor CNN nor anyone else.
I read and follow the news son, and then I dig a bit deeper because I want to to see if there is more to the story than what Fox or CNN or ABC or MSNBC or anyone else has to say about it.
However, I am happy to know that anything YOU have to say is easily ignored.
Good day sir!

Jay:
Please re-open the the Benghazi attack as a topic tomorrow.
I set up a web data mining crawler that is pulling statements, attributions/sources, dates/times etc in an effort to see what happened a month ago outside of the lensing of the major news sources.
It will take some time to parse the data (the complete transcripts from today’s testimony in the HOR are just now coming in).
I am non partisan in this issue. If Obama and company screwed the pooch, then they should be excoriated for what happened. If Romney and company are politicizing the issue based upon partial or misleading facts, then they should be equally excoriated.
In any event, it should be fun to see what the regulars here have to say.

When House Republicans called a hearing in the middle of their long recess, you knew it would be something big, and indeed it was: They accidentally blew the CIA’s cover.
The purpose of Wednesday’s hearing of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee was to examine security lapses that led to the killing in Benghazi last month of the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three others. But in doing so, the lawmakers reminded us why “congressional intelligence” is an oxymoron.

Jay got his marching orders from Plouffe that it’s time to attack some more. The Obama campaign is concerned that the hundreds of millions they spent to attack Romney did not take and it’s time for their lapdogs to attack some more. Of course, that’s all Jay is…a lapdog for the DNC.
It’s all the democrats have: anger, envy, division, attacks, and tired left wing ideology that has never worked and still isn’t.

I actually voted for it, before I voted against it ! But dems never change their minds right ? But this is a good thread, no reason see Jay’s kids to have to tell everyone why obo was so inept he thought our ambassador was killed over a video. Pathetic to think he has been lying to us. More pathetic if he is telling the truth that he and his staff were totally clueless. Some were telling us what really happened two days after the fact but for three weeks mr. law review editor was whining about the video.

So save your faux outrage for you little fascist circle jerks.

The Arab Spring is about a people, different from us, trying to decide which way they want to be ruled. If it comes to pass that they choose a democratic way, then well and good. If they choose the way of traditional Islam, then we have to adapt. It’s not our countries, it’s theirs. They choose, not us. Get it?

Not all that much of interest from the usual alcohol-drenched evening posts, but I did notice this from Jammie:
The store wanted the commission to waive its restriction of selling alcohol within 600 feet of a church.
I really don’t have a problem with Wal*Mart losing this one, unless they can make a case on appeal that a) that the city ordinance was written specifically to deny their business this opportunity, or b) some other business within the 600 foot limit received a waiver.
that said, I [heart] this comment from his linkee:
I have to agree with the commission on this one.
All reasonable measures should be taken to prevent Baptists from having easy access to beer, wine or liquor. I agree with the pastor that allowing people of the moral character of his flock to buy alcohol could only have the worst consequences. The public good has been served by the commission’s decision.
because, you know, it’s fun-knee.

This Benghazi crap by the cons makes me sick. The cons in the House failed to give State all the money it wanted for embassy protection and now have the nerve to complain of an embassy that was not properly protected from RPGs -how with American tanks? And how many Americans died unnecessarily because of mistakes and lies by the Bush Administration? Why doesn’t Darrell Issa investigate those fools?

Granny G,
What I don’t understand is how some people are arrogant enough to think we are supreme. I mean our country does not lead the world in anything meaningful except for military spending? Not in education, not in life expectancy, not in health care…nothing…except military hardware. I just don’t get it. I was taught that you lead by example, in intimidation.

To be honest, I’m not sure I know of any SBC members who are hypocrites on this personal-choice issue, so I’ll have to stay on the fence.
Politically, though, as someone who has known/loved RCC members his whole life, it’s always interesting to see the conservative elements of *that* church trying to square the circle of their dogma to fit with that of the SBC, as they work together to get conservative GOPers elected.

Independent Thinker,
Sure the Libya thing is politicized…what isn’t? Of course there, as usually is the case, blame on congress and the president..was the cut in funding by GOP the reason the additional security was denied or ignored? I can’t seem to find answer..
Unfortunately for BO, the whole middle east is in the process of going from Arab Spring to hostile take over by al queda at our expense and with our weapons….this fact will not outweigh the idea that the GOP was now “responsible” for this tragedy..
Does anyone have a link that confirms that the requests were denied because we didn’t have the money?
