Are Mitt’s money men putting away the checkbooks?

From Fox Business News:

The Romney campaign is experiencing what some officials believe could be the beginning of a mass exodus of big money donors diverting their cash away from the Republican presidential hopeful and toward Republican candidates for the House and Senate races more likely to win in November, the FOX Business Network has learned.

The trend isn’t at the acute stage, at least not yet, said one person with direct knowledge of the matter. This person, a major player in Romney’s New York fundraising circles, confirmed to FOX Business that a few New York donors have backed away from financial commitments to the Romney campaign and instead said they will spend their money to help the Republicans hold on to the House of Representatives, and pick up seats in the Senate.

But another person with direct knowledge of the matter says the trend, though nascent, is more geographically broad based, and reflects an increasing degree of anxiety both with what they believe is the tentative nature of the Romney campaign, and recent poll numbers that show President Obama with a lead, particularly in key battleground states, that some Republican contributors are starting to believe is insurmountable.

“This isn’t just a New York trend,” this person said. “It’s beginning to occur all over the place.”

If Romney does well in tomorrow night’s debate, that trend may be stopped dead in its tracks. On the other hand, if he achieves a draw or less, the disenchantment is likely to deepen, with important consequences for fundraising efforts.

A mediocre performance in Denver would also inspire another, more aggressive round of anti-Romney sniping and backstabbing from conservative media and politicians, which has the potential to do a lot more damage to the Romney cause than a withdrawal of financial support. I’ve already been struck by the fact that many conservative pundits and media figures have been even more dismissive of Romney’s chances than have their counterparts on the left. Given the right opening, they seem quite ready to bury him and move on.

Well, you know it’s a bad day for us Republicans when in the a.m. you learn that a court has scotched the voter ID law in PA and in the p.m. you learn that Romney’s big money people are ready to throw him to the wolves. I’m just glad my Mama and Pappy never lived long enough to see this. Then the Pelousy woman shows up on TV today saying that George W. and his pals were trying to keep the economy crashing a secret till after the election when one Friday Bernanke calls and says there won’t be a economy on Monday if the House and Senate don’t act to bail out the big boys over the weekend.

#1 Foxy Lady ain’t said much yet but I hear she’s warming up to issue us all a invite on November 7. Me, I’m getting in a little practice by sucking my cheeks in and out. The ones on my face at least. As for Romney, all I can say is, This sucker could go down.

Also interesting that Obama is getting close to 10 million donations too. Seems that the big money people are simply hedging their bets between the two.

Why not mention the fact that Obama’s small individual donation amount is amost 37% of his total contributions vs Romney’s small individual donation amount accounting for almost 17% of his campaign contributions. Seems like general, small money America has a 2-1 preference when it comes to making donations.

I can only go by what’s reported and disclosed, but I’d have to say that it appears that Obama is resonating much better than Romney when it comes to contributions. Maybe it’s because Obama’s donors are concerned that he might not win. Or, it could be that Romney’s donors are short on cash after taking care of their charitable contributions. :)

Their bias and refusal to report events such as Fast and Furious, the failed stimulus, the Bengazi debacle, the real facts about Bozocare….. all of this has a profound effect on the future of American citizens. Why should it take a Congressional committee to drag out the truth from Clinton about Bengazi? And the media, including Bookman and most of the liberal posters on this blog just give it a pass. Oh, no problem. Well, it is a problem. I am not here to defend the media, including Fox news, talk radio, Drudge, the blaze, World Net Daily and of course the “librul media”, but just because something isn’t reported in a manner that meets your narrative doesn’t mean it was under reported or falsely reported.

Do you ever think that there are times when your narrative and ideology on things just doesn’t match the facts?

No way in hell that everything that goes down in life is going to neatly fit any given individual’s view point. And that goes for me and everyone else on this blog or elsewhere

The Romney campaign is experiencing what some officials believe could be the beginning of a mass exodus of big money donors diverting their cash away …

What? They’re not even waiting until the first 20 min of the debate to pull the plug? How rude!

So Drudge/Hannity/Tucker all have the same video with the same 9 pm ET embargo the night before the debate? Who’s calling the shots?

Heh, heh, heh.

Sinkwich knows exactly what you just posted, but desperate times call for desperate measures……….

He has been nervous but is getting more so as the election gets closer.

Not over yet, but certainly Romney needs a momentum changer…….. and fast

Even Sink knows that

Fred: Not on a bet, although I respect Bruno as one of the few conservative posters here with whom one could, at times, carry on a rational discussion. out politics are polar opposites. I am a (somewhat) reformed socialist/communist and and I don’t feel the need to call myself a “progressive” like that was something other than a liberal.

They BOTH suck

Thanks for the information. I haven’t been to that website in several months. Always found it to be very informative.
