Travelin’ music? SHE’ll tell you about travelin’ music!

Bettye Lavette’s been around a while. In fact, if you were touring back in the early ’60s with the likes of Ben E. King, Otis Redding and James Brown, and you’re still at it today, you qualify as an authentic R&B veteran. That’s a marathon runner in the musical world.

And as you’ll see if you watch this remarkably emotional performance from just a couple of years ago, Bettye does not sell her audience short. To the contrary, she sells everything she’s got and then some.

Ladies and gentlemen, to kick off the weekend, I give you the fabulously soulful Miss Bettye Lavette!

For example, we waste seven minutes in line every time we go to get coffee, 28 minutes getting through airport security, four years waiting for Obama to do something about the economy. Every year, we waste a lot. We wasted a lot of time.”

Yes we did. It’s about time media members began telling the nation that.

A few years ago I heard of a bass guitar that had buttons at the top of the neck. A, B E….

That`s the trick! I thought.

I hunted one of these down after a long search. The man that owned it told me it took about twice as long to learn how to play this thing as it did to play a normal bass. Well dang.

Next I spotted a small keyboard bass. (Actually, I spotted it years ago on that Talking Heads video I posted @ 9:07 pm yesterday)
How hard could that little thing be to learn?
Well, there are about 5 of these things left on earth @ about $5,000 each.

Oh well, there is air guitar.

I also do interpretive dancing. I am trying to get Fred to do a duo one night.

I don’t dance. but I used play the hell out of keyboards. It took me about a year of listening and rewinding to get all the sounds down and programmed in on my synth’s but back when I was in practice I played this as my “solo” when I was in bands. Much of it was piano so I played that parts (and the harpsichord parts) on my OLD Yamaha, (last one they made before they developed MIDI).

This one didn’t take nearly as long to learn. I was using a Yamaha DX7 (got one the second it came out lol, almost 3 grand. HUGE bucks for an 18 year old.) The problem was that the sound was too *clean*. I never could get that good Hammond B3 with leslie cabinets sound, and I couldn’t find one to buy, even if I could find the money.

The Slacker In Chief For Sure!! NEW YORK — Concerning the fun parts of his job, Barack Obama resembles the Energizer Bunny. If there are crowds to wow, entertainers to schmooze or donors to pitch, Obama is Johnny on the spot.

Too bad Obama’s sparks stop flying when it comes time for the serious, heavy lifting of the presidency.

According to the institute’s data culled from the official White House calendar and Politico.com’s news coverage of that schedule, Obama chose to skip his daily briefings and, instead, simply read his briefing book.

Obama skipped his briefings between last Sept. 4 and 11, the entire week before the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya, suffered an Islamic terror attack that killed U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, technical officer Sean Smith, and former Navy SEALs Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods.

Even worse, as Thiessen reports, Obama postponed and eventually skipped his briefing on the day after these planned and deliberate assassinations. This liberated Obama for a truly indispensable responsibility that day. As American embassies burned brightly throughout the Islamic world, Obama jetted off on Air Force One for a campaign fundraiser in America’s least solemn city — Las Vegas.

Surrender if Never and Option:

” Most of the folks I know will probably agree with the thoughts expressed in this posting. Those who don’t should still have to know, that at some time in their life, a situation may develop which will place the unavoidable decision on their shoulders. Life’s choices are made easier by having the state of mind to have already have made the conscious decision aforehand to not give in to forces of evil.

Like those brave people on flight 93 that was brought down on 9-11-2001 in a Pennsylvania field, rather somewhere in Washington,D.C., when there is no way out …. just don’t give blood cheaply. Make ‘em pay dearly. ”
