Travelin’ music? SHE’ll tell you about travelin’ music!

Bettye Lavette’s been around a while. In fact, if you were touring back in the early ’60s with the likes of Ben E. King, Otis Redding and James Brown, and you’re still at it today, you qualify as an authentic R&B veteran. That’s a marathon runner in the musical world.

And as you’ll see if you watch this remarkably emotional performance from just a couple of years ago, Bettye does not sell her audience short. To the contrary, she sells everything she’s got and then some.

Ladies and gentlemen, to kick off the weekend, I give you the fabulously soulful Miss Bettye Lavette!

“don’t you just HATE when that happens? I don’t have an IPhone, but my iPad can sometimes be a tricky little bugger.”

Yes & it happens too much! In my case, it’s ignorance.

Well, I will NEVER admit to ignorance – :) – in my case, it’s mostly just my old fingers & failing to notice when the d—-d spellcheck second guesses me. Other than that, I really love my IPad ‘cuz I can use it anywhere.

Thanks, getalife. I did google it, but no joy there. I don’t know from twitter (I am old, ya know), but am on Facebook to keep up with kids and grands. And speaking of old, I remember when, in 1955 or so, we got our first television set. My mom remembered when her family got a telephone. I CELEBRATE our new technologies. And I celebrate our first president of mixed race. Some may vote for his white half, some will vote for his Black half. I will vote for the man he is, the man who has been & will be the president for ALL of us.

Fred – “As far as I’m concerned ALL you Jane Fonda traitors can kiss my big fat hairless white BUTT.”

Jane was trying to stop a stupid war and stop senseless lives being lost. She could have gone about it differently, but Nixon and his crowd were ruthless so it took ruthless actions to fight them.

Just supporting the anti war effort in your mind or from your couch was not stopping the slaughter.

Some, like Bill Ayers took the fight to the Government. (He could have set those bombs off on the Capital steps at 2 pm instead of 2 am)

What were you doing to stop the Viet Nam war?

Unless you were for the war?

I`m not condoning Jane or Bill, but it worked. Many lives saved.

………and I would like to personally thank all you hippies out there who took on…. your parents, the Government, the Baptist (Billy G) and other religions, rednecks, and last but not least the military industrial complex. (Gen. Westmoreland was a lying sack of sh*t who cost thousands to lose their lives unnecessarily.)
Good Job!
We may meet again if this election goes south. Look out for my friend Fred. We never know which way his wind will blow.

skydog: Jane Fonda is a no good traitorous, lying piece of dung. I witnessed first hand the results of her treachery. Real live MEN some neighbors of mine, fathers of my friends suffered from her actions. Don’t give me that hippy bullsht. Col Sterling, my neighbor, came home from the Hanoi Hilton with scarcely a bone in his body unbroken and 100 lbs underweight from the torture that Jane Fonda condoned.

While you were home all safe and happy, smoking dope bad mouthing your country and kissing her traitorous ass, HE was being tortured daily. But you go a head and tell us what a heroine she is for torturing him. She didn’t stop a war, she enabled torture and murder. Some of our neighbors didn’t come home. They were tortured to death in POW camps. I hope thta makes you feel REALLY proud, by disdaining your fellow citizens, many who were drafted, and enabling torture, you really “showed” Nixon.

Why did the war stop?
They powers just decided they had had enough?

How many more Col Sterlings would there have been if some didn`t take drastic action.

Were you for continuing the war?
What did you do to stop the war?

Nixon got on that chopper shooting piece signs for some reason? Maybe we were out of bullets?

Bullsht. The war would have been OVER if they had continued to bomb N. Vietnam. Your arrogance to the plight of other Americans is disgusting. I can see why Jane Fonda is your hero.

Fred – The carpet bombing was working so well, except for those pesky tunnels.

Are you saying bomb Hanoi? With Col Sterling in the middle?

As far as heroes go, Jane has never been on my radar. I have posted my heroes the last 4 Fridays.

Yeah skydog, I’m sure you watched everyday like we did hoping you WOULDN’T see your dad.

And yes, the bombing was working great. Until they stopped it. You can’t build war materials in pesky little tunnels. You have to ship materials into HARBORS not pesky little tunnels. Apparently you can write everything you know about waging war and military strategy on the inside of a matchbook cover using a grease pencil…….

Fred – That war was a bad idea from start to finish. The proof is, nothing happened when we pulled out.
(The commies didn`t take over the world. In fact Viet Nam is doing well, comparatively, right now.)

When it comes to wars of choice, I choose none.

If we are in danger, then look out.

My military strategy training is on the battlefields of south Ga.trying to outflank the mighty Bob White.
They are tough and don`t have tunnels.

Is Univision going to squeeze in this “bombshell” in between all the low cut blouse wearing bombshells they have on many of their shows?

Did you really just use the word squezze in the same sentence as “low cut blouse wearing bombshell”? :-)
