Gallup documents good post-convention jump for Obama

Mitt Romney got what you call a dead-cat bounce coming out of the 2012 Republican Convention in Tampa Bay. According to the folks at Gallup, Barack Obama has done a whole lot better.

His job approval number now stands at 52 percent, a nine-point jump since late August. Nothing in the news cycle — other than the convention — could account for an improvement that significant. The same is true of the head-to-head contest with Romney, where Obama has transformed a two-point deficit into a four-point advantage.

gallup1

Gallup2

In the battle of the conventions, in other words, Obama and the Democrats are the decisive victors. Nonetheless, I expect the race to tighten again as the post-convention aura fades, with the next possible inflection point coming on Oct. 3.

That’s the date of the first presidential debate at the University of Denver.

Based on that ^^^^ right there, I could claim my point was to show, once again, how clueless you are, but that was not my intent. For most anybody with basic cognitive reading skills, my point would be obvious: “Self-labeled conservatives don’t even know what it really means anymore.”

Since it’s you, I’ll try to help you out a bit.

Many self-labeled conservatives, meaning people who call themselves conservatives, have no idea of what the true definition of a conservative really means. They have simply allowed themselves to believe that the current incarnation of “conservatives” is the true defintion, when it simply is not. Furthermore, those same conservatives continue to pervert the definition with the dumbass chest-beating exercises they engage in to determine who’s the “true conservative” or “who’s more conservative”.

In regards to your notion of liberals, you could be no further from the truth if the truth were buried on Pluto. Liberals have not changed the definition of that word themselves. They have allowed those “more conservative conservatives” redefine what liberal means. That group has tried to turn the word liberal into some kind of invective that makes dog sh*t look clean.

The tea party is probably closest to “true conservative”

Ok, now that I’ve gotten my chuckles out, let’s take a look at the “true” defintion of the word Conservative as well as a well known synonym to see if that statement is anywhere near true.

con·ser·va·tive (kn-sûrv-tv)
adj.
1. Favoring traditional views and values; tending to oppose change.
2. Traditional or restrained in style: a conservative dark suit.
3. Moderate; cautious: a conservative estimate.
4.
a. Of or relating to the political philosophy of conservatism.
b. Belonging to a conservative party, group, or movement.
5. Conservative Of or belonging to the Conservative Party in the United Kingdom or the Progressive Conservative Party in Canada.
6. Conservative Of or adhering to Conservative Judaism.
7. Tending to conserve; preservative: the conservative use of natural resources.

n.
1. One favoring traditional views and values.
2. A supporter of political conservatism.
3. Conservative A member or supporter of the Conservative Party in the United Kingdom or the Progressive Conservative Party in Canada.
4. Archaic A preservative agent or principle.

—————

To·ry (tôr, tr)
n. pl. To·ries
1.
a. A member of a British political party, founded in 1689, that was the opposition party to the Whigs and has been known as the Conservative Party since about 1832.
b. A member of a Conservative Party, as in Canada.
2. An American who, during the period of the American Revolution, favored the British side. Also called Loyalist.

3. often tory A supporter of traditional political and social institutions against the forces of democratization or reform; a political conservative.

Now did everybody notice the striking similarities to the definition of those two words being used as a noun and see why they are basically synonyms of each other? Now look at #2 under the definition of “Tory” and ask yourself if that is what is considered a “True Conservative” nowadays.

As I said, people nowadays have no idea as to the true meaning of the word. For all we know, in another 10 years, the “true Conservative” will mean someone who sits on a blog all day talking about things of which they have not a single clue.

Jay, I encourage you to read Macon Telegraph today about the state of the public school system there. It is not local to Macon. It is a prime example of what liberal politics is doing to this country’s public education system and the results of of hiring people because of WHAT they are and not WHO they are or what they know. Kind of like the Dekalb county government and school system. This is pervasive throughout the whole system now, both public and private. Corporations and the government must hire based upon demographics. They cannot hire based upon qualification or personnal resumes.

Dude, that’s easily proven as pure bullsh*t because there are not many people who self describe themselves as liberals anymore. Look at this blog as a sample case, how many self-described liberals are there vs the number of “libs” who are labeled as such by self-described conservatives?
