Romney post-convention bump looks modest at best
The folks at Gallup have completed their post-GOP convention polling duties, and the reviews are not complimentary. Mitt Romney has enjoyed little or no post-convention bump, and his acceptance speech was rated excellent or good by just 38 percent of those who saw it.
While that may not sound terrible, Gallup reports that it is easily the worst rating given to any of the last eight convention acceptance speeches.
A Reuters-Ipsos poll also reports no sustained bump for Romney, and puts the race at essentially tied headed into the DNC convention in Charlotte.
“Ipsos pollster Julia Clark said she was confident Obama’s numbers would improve during his convention.
“The fact that Obama and Romney are still tied signals to me that we’re not going to see any sort of sustained bump for Romney,” Clark said. “As we go into next week’s convention, Romney will struggle to maintain even footing with the president – we’ll likely see a shift back towards Obama.”
While each candidate won overwhelming support from voters in his own political party, Romney was leading Obama among all-important independent voters by 33 percent to 28 percent, the poll found.”
Rasmussen reports what it calls a “modest” bounce for Romney, whom it has leading 48-to-44 percent.

I’ better off than 4 years ago to the tune of paying 9% in income tax, my property tax dropping like a rock. A refinanced house at 2.8% interest and more than 50 grand a year more in income. I also quit tobacco after being a heavy user for 35 years. Unfortunately that is kind of equalized by the fact I gained 30-40 pounds while doing so. But when I drop that weight, it will turn into a net gain.

I hear ya. I put on 20 or more pounds last football season. I used to work it off after the season every year and get back down but this past year not only did it stay but I got even heavier. The only thing that really seems to work for me is to cut out sugar and anything white- potatoes, rice, bread, flour based products. Same with my dad. I saw him today for lunch and he had lost 42 lbs. He did it the same way he always has- Atkins or a variation thereof where he cut out sugar and starchy carbs.

We had a moron who got is into a civil war in Iraq and as our brave and finest were getting slaughtered due to the moron’s lack of preparation for the war, the moron jumps out of a plane in a flight suit on a carrier and declares “Mission Accomplishe” like some kind of circus act.
The Repub nominee in 2008 wanted to keep the war going despite the overwhelming public wanting it to end. Cost to taxpayers for this GOP folly over a trillion dollars with no source of funding.
Some unknown Black guy running as the Dem. nominee comes along and promises he will end it and bring the troops home with dignity – His mission was accomplished as promised.
Are we better off on W’s folly in Iraq than four years ago? Hell yes.

Tulso – In my younger days I could lose weight pretty easily. Cut out starch and sugar, eat mostly meat, like your dad, and barely eat anything for lunch. As I age it gets harder to do.
Or maybe my will power is less and I am not as motivated to lose weight. Rather enjoy eating then worrying about living another two or three years down the road when I’m in a nursing home anyway.

Get yourself an 8 pound toning ball. Make all your moves as slow as you can stand it. Start out slow, about 5 reps in the AM and 5 reps in the PM. Gradually build up. You will know when you’re ready to add reps.

Same here. Its a combination of things- probably I’m just not as motivated as I should be. Plus its just gotten harder every year. And on top of that I have a steady gf and she is happy with the way I am so with me so there’s no real motivation to get whipped into shape for the women.
