Meh.
Mitt Romney did a competent job of presenting himself as a competent candidate Thursday night. He humanized himself, presenting a side of himself that most Americans had not seen, and he competently delivered the standard conservative critique of the perceived shortcomings of Barack Obama in largely positive, unthreatening tones.
He also didn’t keep the fact-checkers busy deep into the night, as his running mate Paul Ryan had the evening before, largely because his speech lacked details or specifics. That’s fine; he and his speechwriters had clearly decided to hit on big themes and to stress the candidate’s softer, more humane side, and again, they succeeded in doing so. But I’m doubtful that the American people came away wowed by the performance or by Romney himself.
The talk of the night, instead, focused on Clint Eastwood and his empty chair. They were clearly the weirdest tandem of the evening, which is saying something when Newt and Callista are also on the bill.

I somewhat disagree. Jon Huntsman would have been hands down the better candidate, but apparently the GOP felt that since Mitt has been trying for so long, they should at least give him a shot at the brass ring.

Brain dead zombies for Obama can’t think for themselves so the need the gub’ment to think for them. That is what Obama believes. Two view points – Obama loves big gub’ment and Romney loves the U.S.A. The gub’ment is not America we citizens are America. There is a time when you hire someone to do a job and they fail due to incompetence that we have to let them go – time to fire Obama.

Something I thought about when Ryan was announced as Romney’s running mate was what their campaign swag would look like. If I were the one that was designing things, there was one design I would have stayed away from for obvious reasons. I don’t think Romney’s campaign people are quite as observant as me.

There was literally nothing Romney could have said or done that Jay would not have panned. By the same token I am going to predict now that Jay’s assessment of obama’s speech next week will be quite glowing.
To Mary Elizabeth about your comment regarding government jobs, Gov Romney did not say that they were not important but one thing is certain and that is there can be no government jobs without private sector jobs to pay for them!

Obama’s negative attack ads paid for by George Soros and endorsed by Obama portraying Romney as an evil man are a lie. Romney is a good man that has given millions to charity and helped previously failing businesses in the private sector survive. 80% of the failing companies he tried to turn around are still here in business today and hire thousands of workers. No one can be successful 100% of the time in turning around companies in or near bankruptcy. Romney is qualified to lead the turn around of the U.S. economy. Obama is not.

The fact here is that the Romney-Ryan ticket scares liberals. With $5trillion in new ObamaDebt that accrued in less than three years, a multi-trillion dollar bogus health care plan that raided billions from the already-bogus Mediscare “program,” the honorable Gov. Romney and the honorable Rep. Ryan wish to do something about this mess. Their common sense plan will put this once-free nation on the path to sustainability. But, no, the liberals are coming out with their lies and socialistic agenda which are destroying us from within. It’s time to change management and have real business folks run government. Business folks know how to get rid of the elitists and replace them with experienced leaders WHO WILL cut gov’t spending and waste. I’m jazzed about the RNC and now it’s onward to victory. I want to express my “thank you” to all those who have appreciated my analysis of Romney’s speech (and thinking) around 3:00 am. Romney seems like a good family man to me who has loved his wife, children, and mother and father. However, as I have mentioned before on this blog, I do not think that he has Obama’s vision of the type of leadership that Obama wants America to foster in this world.
(For those who may want to read further on this – I think Obama’s leadership style is more in keeping with the values that George Washington, the father of our nation, tried to emulate for leaders of our nation to assume into posterity. I hope that some readers will explore these thoughts, which I developed in my own blog, “Mary Elizabeth Sings,” December 26, 2010. See below for an excerpt from and link to that entry on my blog:
“Are we wise enough to know that America’s first president, George Washington, by his example of deliberately relinquishing power, was modeling for posterity the role he desired for America’s leaders to emulate in the future? Will America acknowledge that all in the world are inherently equal? Will America and Americans lead others in seizing this budding egalitarian world consciousness through the choices we make? If America can lead others into the coming new age, in this new direction, then she, like her first president, will become a great leader through her grace of spirit and wisdom, rather than simply through her power.”

If Obama is not reelected it will be like Americans leaving Viet Nam. Helicopters lifting off with people hanging on till they tire and drop into the obese. People crawling like ants up security walls to not be left behind. Bush disappeared the last few months of his administration checking out the air in his mountain bike tires, modeling his tight riding uniform even wearing a cowboy outfit occasionally, while America burned. But this guy Romney is different? The whole party is run by a non elected mafia that runs anything moving in the Republican Party with money they have made off the party plowed back in to protect their investment. The Washington Post’s Greg Sargent on Thursday interviewed a Ryan-supporting Wisconsin businessman, who argued that the plant may have been unsalvageable, even with significant government support.
“This morning, I spoke to a leading business official in Janesville, Wisconsin, who was at the center of efforts to save the GM plant — one who supports Paul Ryan — and he offered a nuanced version of the history that strains simplistic interpretations,” Sargent reported. “The official, John Beckord, who heads the pro-business group Forward Janesville, makes two key points. First, that the market for the GM product in question collapsed much faster than anyone expected it would at the time of Obama’s speech. Second, that there is no telling whether the plant would have reopened, even if the economy had recovered faster.”

DannyX – How many lies(or to put it nicely misspokens) has Obama said? “You didn’t build that” will forever go down in history! Small businesses depise him and I hope that is the game changer! We will see.

Topics taboo at the GOP convention:
1. Romneys’ offshor accounts and possible tax evasion;
2. Romney care
3.Unfunded Medicare Part D passed by the GOP and costing possibly over a trillion dollars in ten years
4. Medicare Advantage giving huge Medicare dollars to private insurers and free gym memberships passed by the GOP under Bush cut back by Obama;
5.Bain Capitala shipping jobs overseas right now as we speak in Freeport Illinois where they just closed a plant
6. Tax credits for companies that relocate overseas;
7.GOP fillibustering two bills to eleiminate that relocation tax credit;
8. the 38 anti-abortion bills passed by Aiken and Ryan;
9. Rubio and Ryan swearing allegiance to Grover Norquist
10. That 716 billion dollars Obama allegedly stole from Medicare being cost savings agreed by providers which the Affordable Care Act funnels pack into new Medicare benefits and covering unfunded Medicare part D
11. The ongoing mess Bush got us into in Afghanistan
12. Condi and Bush forcing Israel to turn over Gaza to Hamas and kick Israelis out of their homes
13. Obama going to Sderot and putting himself in harm’s way of Hamas missles in 2008 while Romeny only went to raise cash at a fundraiser in Jerusalem and some photo ops;
14. Our banking industry and Auto industry being rescued by Obama;
15. Worst terrorist attack on civilians ever under Bush and none under Obama and
16. socialist medical care in hospitals passed by Reagan being funded by individual mandates under Obama.

Obama’s strangely distorted “logic”. One more person moved from the unemployment rolls to disability is one more gub’ment created job. Do you really believe the unemployment rate is “just” 9 %? The reality is that every person moved from unemployment to disability, etc. is one more name taken off the unemployment stats. Disability rolls have TRIPLED since Obama got in office. That’s Obama’s idea of gub’ment created “jobs”. Some need to be on disability but the regulations to get on disability under Obama have been so relaxed that all you need to do is hire a lawyer and get a crooked doctor to sign a paper and you will be accepted. Disability has become a scam for lawyers and doctors to get rich. Obama loves it.

Williebkind: Repeating the same old lines over and over does not make it a fact. It is closer to insanity.
And, if you actually had any proof, you would prove my insanity. However, as typical for you, you can’t even provide proof that water is wet. Here’s a chance for you WillieB, I’ll give you just a few things that I said. Either prove them wrong and prove my insanity, or fail to prove anything and prove your ignorance. You game for that?
#1 I don’t think Bush targeted or killed any Americans.
(remember Anwar Al-Alwaki?)
#2 I don’t think Bush authorized any raids into sovereign territories to capture and/or kill high level targets.
(remember Abbottabad, Pakistan?)
#3 Unlike your living persona (in reference to Reagan), neither Bush nor Obama pulled personnel out of Iraq or Afghanistan after they were attacked. They’ve both left our military there to take names and kick ass, and they’re doing a damned good job at both.
(remember Beruit, Lebanon?)
Those three statements were pulled verbatim from my post at 8:52, and I challenge you to prove they are repeated lies and not fact. So, will we prove insanity or ignorance? The ball is in your court, Williebkind. What will you do?

Fine Southern gentlemen?
RNC Rocks Strip Club Business in Tampa.
With the Republican National Convention in full swing, one business in particular seems to be booming, a certain gentleman’s club.
After sending his most attractive women to the RNC with the intention of getting word out about the strip club, the manager (whose identity has been kept private) said the club has been packed with SOUTHERN GENTLEMEN.
Cons are hypocrites.

Obama is the 1st ” Reality Show President”. Move him back to the private sector where he will fit in on “House Wives of D.C.” or he can be on that show where obese women try on wedding dresses. How about the one where little girls are abused by their mommies in beauty pageants. That’s the realm Obama Obama belongs in. We need a real president – not an artificial President- not a “Reality
Show President”. Not Obama.

Trying to explain how the economy works to a brain dead zombies for Obama is like trying to reason with the insane. Impossible. The Obama voters don’t consider being nearly $16,000,000,000,000 (trillion) in debt to be a problem. Why? Because they have no idea what a trillion is and don’t care as long as the gub’ment sends their check in the mail.

Let me be the 1st to tell you that in the not to distant future, if you vote Obama, that check will still come in the mail but the bank won’t accept it due to insufficient funds. The Feds credit card is about to max out. Which means that you will have to go to work and the jobs that Obama created – good luck with that!
