Let’s raise a glass to the hard-working people! (You and me)

As we slide into the Labor Day weekend, I cannot think of a more appropriate way to mark the holiday than to enlist some exceedingly rich people — all of them self-made capitalists of course — to sing the praises of the hard-working people, the lowly of birth, the rag-tagged people, the salt of the earth.

So … SAAALLLUTTTTE!

(Yahoo News) SIOUX CITY, Iowa – “President Obama received a less than warm welcome and a warning upon arrival at the airport here on the second stop of his Iowa visit, which was aimed at recapturing some of the magic the state gave his run to the White House in 2008.

Greeting Air Force One as it touched down under sunny skies and sultry heat was a hand-painted banner draped across the top of an airplane hangar that reads, “Obama Welcome to SUX – We Did Build This.” “SUX” is the airport code for Sioux City.”

CINCINNATI – “A crowd of thousands cheered Mitt Romney at a rally here during the opening leg of a cross-country campaign swing on Saturday, testing for the first time whether he can sustain political momentum coming out of the Republican National Convention.

A line of people that stretched for five city blocks awaited Mr. Romney as his motorcade pulled into the Union Terminal. Inside there were so many people that the campaign had to redirect a few hundred of them into a small overflow room, where they crammed in shoulder to shoulder.”

Poor babies …………………….

“Labor unions and Democrats form a pretty traditional political alliance that’s usually on display in full force at the national conventions. Big labor historically spent big money on concerts, lunches, rallies and panels for its members, and spent millions to help fund the Democrats’ party.

This year? Not so much.

Some union officials are sitting out the political fete entirely after the Democrats chose a labor-unfriendly location in the right-to-work state of North Carolina. Others are sending skeleton staffs to support their union delegates, but say they’re focusing resources elsewhere. Labor groups aren’t shelling out for big events in Charlotte, and many aren’t even donating cash to the cause — despite their exemption from new restrictive fundraising rules.”

Inquiry on Tax Strategy Adds to Scrutiny of Finance Firms

September 2nd, 2012
7:08 am

The New York attorney general is investigating whether some of the nation’s biggest private equity firms have abused a tax strategy in order to slice hundreds of millions of dollars from their tax bills, according to executives with direct knowledge of the inquiry.
The attorney general, Eric T. Schneiderman, has in recent weeks subpoenaed more than a dozen firms seeking documents that would reveal whether they converted certain management fees collected from their investors into fund investments, which are taxed at a far lower rate than ordinary income.
Among the firms to receive subpoenas are Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Company, TPG Capital, Sun Capital Partners, Apollo Global Management, Silver Lake Partners and Bain Capital, which was founded by Mitt Romney, the Republican nominee for president. Representatives for the firms declined to comment on the inquiry

OBAMA IS A SLUG

Mr. Obama this week, for the first time, entered the fray. Campaigning on Tuesday on college campuses in Iowa and Colorado, he told thousands of supporters not to believe the opposition’s attacks because, “how do I put this nicely? They will just fib.” On Wednesday in Charlottesville, Va., he ramped up his complaint, winning applause from the estimated 6,500 people.

“Sometimes they just make things up. But they’ve got a bunch of folks who can write $10 million checks, and they’ll just keep on running them,” he said. “I mean, somebody was challenging one of their ads — they made it up — about work and welfare. And every outlet said this is just not true. And they were asked about it and they said — one of their campaign people said, ‘We won’t have the fact-checkers dictate our campaign. We will not let the truth get in the way.’”

Mr. Obama was referring, as many other critics of the Romney campaign have, to a comment that its pollster, Neil Newhouse, made to reporters at the Republican convention on Tuesday, dismissive of those faulting the campaign’s television ads. What Mr. Newhouse actually said was, “These fact-checkers come to those ads with their own sets of thoughts and beliefs. We’re not going to let our campaign be dictated by fact-checkers.”

Mr. Newhouse did not say, “We will not let the truth get in the way.”

Emphasis added. According to the New York Times, the president appears to be lying in the process of accusing the Romney campaign of lying. It will be interesting to see if media fact checkers attempt to spin this statement.

TALES FROM THE FRONT

We played a biker bar last night and had a good time.
I get tickled at our guitar (Repub). When we play these places, he takes special notice of how black folks are reacting to our music.
The other night, he freaked out that the black family left 1/2 way thru our set. We reminded him this was a bbq joint and they had finished eating.
Last night was a 50/50 white/black mix with just the right amount of bikers thrown in.

Ok, this is an observation only. Not intended to laugh at anyones misfortune.

We are in the middle of a song and there are about 12 people on the dance floor having a good time.
This one girl is really kicking it and busted this move and I see something slide across the dance floor.
At first I think it`s her shoe.

Noooooo, it`s her foot.

She is left pogo`ing on the dance floor `cause this foot has about 12″ of leg with it.

I look back at my son and he is about to fall off his stool.

This girl, still pogo`ing (on time) yells, Bobby! Slide me my foot back over here! He does and she reinstalls and goes back to dancing.

We learned the “Hokie Pokie” and “Footloose” at the break.

Bill Clinton – enormously popular and extremely smart president. Legacy is one of competence and good governance. Very higly ranked in list of ex-presidents.

George W. Bush – enormously UNpopular president, ranks near the very bottom in virtually every ranking and poll of the past four years. Legacy is one of deadly incompetence, lawlessness, endless debacles and disgraceful scandal-ridden GOP approved policies. (Torture, etc.)

So is ANY wonder at all that one will be prominently and proudly displayed in this campaign and the other will hide in shame and be avoided like the plague by his fellow neocons?

Who need leaders but get gamblers instead”

It seems insane that Mississippi, South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama are the reddest of states when the policies they support are wildly against their interests. President Johnson predicted something like it in 1965, but even he would be dumbfounded by the craziness of it.
We have a black President and the four states with the highest percentage of slave ownership named above just can’t seem to let it go. Then again, it’s only been 147 years.

Bush’s Final Approval Rating: 22 Percent

President Bush will leave office as one of the most unpopular departing presidents in history, according to a new CBS News/New York Times poll showing Mr. Bush’s final approval rating at 22 percent.

Seventy-three percent say they disapprove of the way Mr. Bush has handled his job as president over the last eight years.

Mr. Bush’s final approval rating is the lowest final rating for an outgoing president since Gallup began asking about presidential approval more than 70 years ago.

bman, insane, huh?

In an August 2008 poll, likely voters were asked the question “Will History rate George W. Bush as the worst President ever?” 41% responded “yes”.

Think about that for a minute!

As I’ve noted repeatedly, the GOP is toxic.

And getting worse…

I am happy that you retired from the Secret Service.

With your views I don’t think you could be trusted to protect anyone that you didn’t think was like you.

WHITE and CHRISTIAN.

Keep remembering the possible GAY Naval Corpsman that saved many Marines.

“That”

“Like never, it depends on how he uses it. If he puts “that” in front of a noun, like “that woman” or “that money,” it’s a subconscious attempt for him to distance himself from the word. This is a common trick of manipulators.”

As in ……………… “THAT woman Miss Lewinsky”.

Jamvet .. .. To be fair, Bush did have huge approval ratings after 9/11. Remove that, and his average would have been quite a bit lower

So, each and every time a conservative keeps repeating the line “you didn’t build THAT”, they’re lying, right? Ok, thought so.
