Time to put on those travelin’ shoes and go a-fishin’
The first time I saw the great Elvin Bishop, we were both younger men. It was back in the early ’70s, in Raleigh, N.C., right about the time he put out his excellent and underrated album “Let It Flow.” Looking through the song list from that album — “Travelin’ Shoes,” “Stealin’ Watermelons” — is like going back in time.
That album also included Elvin’s classic celebration of fishing, the aptly titled “Fishin’.” It’s a critically important theme, so important that Mr. Bishop felt obligated to revisit it at more length in a later song, the equally aptly titled “Gone Fishin’ Again,” as in “me and my no-good friends are gone fishin’ again.”
Which of course we are. See ya’ll back here in a couple of weeks. Be good, be cool and be wishin’ you were with us, ‘cuz we plan on having us a damn good time.

Sorry but there was no real delicate way of putting it in regards to the abortion point that I was making. The dishonesty in the abortion debate revolves around one thing that liberals don’t like to admit. We have abortions for the lack of a better word convenience. Its inconvenient for the 18 year old to have an unplanned baby or a 25 year old to have an unplanned child when she is unmarried and the pregnancy is the result of a fling or a guy she is dating that she is not serious about. That’s really what it boils down. Its a major inconvenience for whatever reason for a woman or young girl to have that child at that point in her life. We can sugarcoat it all we want, we can call Doomy an MCP. But it doesn’t change the fact that for lack of a better word that’s why we do it. And when I say that it makes a woman happier I’m not meaning that she’s happier in the sense that she had an abortion and now she’s all giddy. But happier in the sense that her life path is back on the path she was on rather than a permanent detour with a child. As I said not really a delicate way of putting it.

Certainly not, not when you are arguing in circles. You argue that having an abortion proves they it is only for convenience, therefore only women who find pregnancy “inconvenient” would have one.
As I’ve said before, it is God (or Mother Nature if you prefer) who gave women sole control over their bodies and their prenancies…not mankind. You don’t like it that abortions happen? Take it up with God.

Frog, nope…went through Parris Island with an M-I and was issued a BAR at my first permanent duty station M-3-6 where I was a fire teams automatic rifleman. Shortly though we were all issued M-14’s and mine was modified for fully automatic fire. Later went to 2nd Recon as a RTO (radio humper) and was issued an M3AI Grease Gun WWII vintage that went through that war as well as Korea and Vietnam. 3rd Recon Okinawa and Vietnam I sometimes carried a grease gun along with a 1911 side arm as an NCO team leader. In combat a pistol is only good for returning enemy fire as you’re running for a rifle, your rifle or anyone’s rifle who no longer needs one.

To many in Europe, the Continent has two big economic problems: Huge debt, and high inequality between the rich and the rest.
Now some politicians are advocating a plan to solve both.
The idea, first floated by a German economic policy group, calls for imposing a 10 percent tax on the wealth of the richest Europeans and forcing them to lend money to their governments.
The plan calls for placing a one-time 10 percent levy on the total assets for those with more than $309,000 in assets (or couples with more than $611,000). In addition, it calls for a “forced loan” program, in which the wealthy lend money to their governments that could be paid back over time.
Uh Oh. Now might not be a good time for the wealthiest cons here in the states to be looking to head to Europe. Maybe South America would be more welcoming. Argentina, perhaps.

Nope. Not what I’m arguing. Some women have to have medically necessary abortions or do in fact have them in the case of rape or incest. But if you don’t think that the majority of women have abortions for the simple fact that the pregnancy occurred at an inconvenient point in her life or is simply not wanted then you’re just kidding yourself. And the fact that I’m bringing up what you know to be true simply makes you angry because its true.
As for your point earlier when you said that your philosophy was something about whatever didn’t bring about any harm I thought about abortion. Just curious but does it bring any harm to the fetus? My guess is that you’re going to say no because an embryo is not human. No need for an explanation. I’ve seen you folks plenty of times twist and contort and go to all kinds of lengths to say a fetus is not human. Its like listening to a flat earther say the earth isn’t round.

Perhaps they were issued but long after my time. Last I heard about Force Recon and the SOCOM detachment they went for a modified 1911 custom built by Kimber. Now the Marine Corps is going for a Colt version of what Recon decided to employ. Strangely they went for the old 1911, 7 round magazine instead of a double stack mag holding 12 to 13 rounds. As for me I’m only a hand gunner in civilian life. In the military I was all about rifles and crew served automatic weapons. Fire discipline has its place but so does fire power.

A new survey from Spectrem Group finds that 40 percent of affluent women surveyed (those with investible assets of more than $100,000) agreed with the statement that “inequality is a problem and that the wealthy don’t pay their fair share.”

Naw man. 80-90% of the people I deal with are folks ageing in at 65. Don’t have that many folks that are even in their 70s. I have them just not many of them. If I can get 2 bottles of the good stuff then how many Mad Dog 20/20s can I get? I figure I’m gonna drink what kamchump drinks.
