“I wish this president would learn how to be an American.”
– Top Romney surrogate John Sununu, in a media call this morning arranged by the Romney campaign.
Sununu, the former governor of New Hampshire and White House chief of staff under the first President Bush, has since tried to apologize for the statement. Perhaps he’s trying to unsay it retroactively. Perhaps he’s got his Etch-a-Sketch out, shaking it furiously.
But really, there’s no cause for an apology or retraction. Sununu simply said what he meant to say. For example, is the statement above any different from what Sununu told Fox News this morning, for which he has not apologized?
“He has no idea how the American system functions. And we shouldn’t be surprised about that, because he spent his early years in Hawaii smoking something, spent … another set of years in Indonesia.”
We get it: “Barack HUSSEIN Obama isn’t a real American. He’s not one of US, he’s one of THEM. I mean, just look at him. Where’s his birth certificate? No, not that one, the long form.”
We all understand the message quite well.
On the other hand, as someone on Twitter just put it, “I don’t know … being a pot-smoker is a hell of a lot more #American than hiding money offshore.”

40% of this country still thinks that Jesus could return during their lifetimes. I think that explains why there are 40 some odd percent of voters that would vote so badly and choose “Romney.”
Obama clearly will win this election again, however, as we have a majority that is not completely stupid. It’s a no brainer.

Maybe a little context would help:
“This guy doesn’t understand how to create jobs. So there is no surprise — there should be because of that statement no surprise on why he failed so miserably over the last four years, in terms of job creation. He has no idea how the American system functions, and we shouldn’t be surprised about that, because he spent his early years in Hawaii smoking something, spent the next set of years in Indonesia, another set of years in Indonesia, and, frankly, when he came to the U.S. he worked as a community organizer, which is a socialized structure, and then got into politics in Chicago.”

Sununu also charged the president “has absolutely no idea how the American economy functions.”
“The men and women all over America who have worked hard to build their businesses from the ground up is how our economy became the envy of the world,” Sununu said. “It is the American way, and I wish this president would wish how to learn how to be an American.”
Asked by a reporter to clarify his comment, Sununu said he had meant to criticize Obama’s understand of the American way of doing business.
“The president has to learn the American formula for creating business,” he said.

Hilarious! Of course, no one who supported the previous regime wants to take responsibility for the great economic crash that occurred on their watch ..; or the massive waste of money associated with the unfunded Iraq debacle … or the unfunded Medicare prescription benefit … or the TWO massive tax cuts that mostly benefited the uber-wealthy at a time when we were spending massive dollars on two unfunded wars. To these Republicans I say … pay your bills, deadbeats!
Republican politicians make a grand pretense of accountability and morality, but they are the most remarkably successful LIARS in our nation’s history, and the so-called lame-stream media routinely gives their talking points prominent forum. The Democrats represent a broader coalition of political interests, but lack the party discipline to fight back effectively. The so-called trickle down economics begun in the Reagan era initiated three decades of financial resources shifted from the middle class to the upper class, and American CEOs and upper management are now making an estimated three times more than their counterparts around the world. There have been record corporate profits over the past two years, yet these so-called job creators are not hiring in large numbers and unemployment has remained high.
Republicans complain about the deficit but refuse to pay it down, only want to cut programs that benefit most Americans, and are much more effective at marketing their positions than the Democrats (Dick Cheney was famously quoted during previous regime as saying “we learned from the Reagan years that deficits don’t matter”). Republicans publicly announced that their number one priority after the last presidential election was to make sure Obama failed, and have fought tooth and nail against any and every proposal to repair the economy (including many that were originally Republican proposals, such as the health care initiative).
Our nation has many daunting challenges, but our winner-take-all political system is failing. Neither political party has all the answers, and our Founding Fathers wrote a Constitution that was supposed to prevent excessive concentration of power on one side or the other. But if the Republicans completely refuse to work together with half of our nation, then we are doomed to failure. Ugh.

I guess this is a feeble attempt to cover for Obama’s gaffe about business owners. Arguing that successful business owners got help from others along the way and suggesting they should pay more in taxes in return, he noted how government often provides the infrastructure needed for success. “If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that,” Obama said. “Somebody else made that happen.”

yay!!! I get to unload the full quote again … in all its contextual glory:
There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me — because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t — look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something — there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there. (Applause.)
If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.
The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together. There are some things, just like fighting fires, we don’t do on our own. I mean, imagine if everybody had their own fire service. That would be a hard way to organize fighting fires.

ThinkProgress reveals the following congressmen have spent the following amounts on car leases under “office expenses” for the past year and a half:
Rep. Chip Cravaack (R-MN): $25,580.84
Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI): $24,525.00
Rep. Bill Flores (R-TX): $10,997.45
Rep. Cory Gardner (R-CO): $20,978.07
Rep. Bill Johnson (R-OH): $4,889.76
Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-KS): $8,848.00
Rep. Steve Womack (R-AR): $10,746.59
The Tea Party played their constituents….
Then there’s this from Krugman:
Trust me: you will see very few news analyses saying that Mr. Romney proposes huge tax cuts for the rich, with no plausible offset other than big benefit cuts for everyone else — even though this is the simple truth. Instead, you will see pieces reporting that “Democrats say” that this is what Mr. Romney proposes, matched with dueling quotes from Republican sources.
The article basically points out that the tax returns ARE about policy, the Romney policy that the rich deserve tax breaks and the poor deserve tax hikes.
And finally, Politifact analyzes how transparent the Obama administration has been. Their conclusion? He has been more transparent than any prior administration, but fell short of his own promises of full transparency. He shot for the stars but only made it to the moon.

I have to disagree, Jay. I think they’re looking for a way to make Obama the Scary Other, and in their zeal to avoid making overtly racist comments, they stumble and trip over themselves and toss out half-baked constructions like the one Sununu barfed up. I honestly think it would be *easier* for them if they felt they could just use the N-word and be done with it.
Sununu’s not stupid or clueless; he’s an educated, intelligent man. So to hear him making awkward attempts to explain just how un-American he thinks the President is (when Republicans are SUPPOSEDLY all about legal immigration being cool), IMO it tips the hand of people like him.

How has Obama “redistributed” wealth when the wealthy, now, are more powerful than ever, pay low if any taxes, and the middle and lower classes are increasingly hurting?

Obama’s problem with “Americanism” is that he spent his formative years, 5th through 12th grade, in a christian school. If one attends a christian school they cannot be a true American.

I don’t get why people still blame Obama for jobs and the economy as if they forget the Republican house and blue dogs. It doesn’t matter what the plan is. If the house and Senate says “No!” there is now bill for him to sign. Blaming the President is mistaking the symptom for the cause.

Bush diary secrets
“At one of the most important moments of his presidency, all the guy was thinking about was food,” said longtime democratic strategist Bob Shrum, in reference to what has quickly become the most widely discussed section of the diary: a fourteen-page entry written on the eve of the Iraq War in which the president vents about the quality of the White House food, specifically the poor selection of comfort snacks, his dissatisfaction with the chimichangas and his ongoing frustration with the size of the hamburgers.

Really Woodstock Mike??? Okay, everytime one of you numpties decide to pull out that quote, I’ll pull out the ENTIRE quote:
AND YES, I SUPPORT THAT 100%%%

I would take issue with the notion that the race has been tightening. Instead, once you remove the statistical noise from the polls, the trajectory looks roughly flat based on our analysis. Mr. Obama has maintained a narrow, but fairly consistent, lead of about 2 points over perhaps the last six to eight weeks.
…
At the same time, Mr. Romney’s campaign has begun to behave as though the attacks are a fairly big deal. And it has backed into a more defensive posture that could change the nature of how they are perceived by the public going forward.

Didn’t like Sununu’s comments, but watch – this is going to be a continuing line of attack against President Obama. Just as the Dems are trying to paint Romney as a dishonest, out of touch, protect the rich/screw the poor candidate, the R’s will try and paint Obama as some un-American candidate. And it might work with some folks. The thing is, the press or public doesn’t really hold either side accountable.

This is a pretty weak column Jay. There is no doubt that Obama is an American. He just has absolutely no clue how the American economy, much less American business, works. If he did, he would never hold Americans hostage by threatening to push the economy over the fiscal cliff. Even Keynesian economists will tell you that raising taxes in a recession is an idiotic idea. “The private sector is doing just fine.” Yeh right. The fatal flaw with all of Obama’s economic policies is that he only offers short term solutions for long term problems. George Shultz had an excellent interview in the WSJ over the weekend. He used a football game analogy to describe the current U.S. environment. Teams were sitting on the sidelines with lots of cash to put to work. However, they weren’t willing to play because Obama hadn’t defined the rules of the game yet. Obama was telling them to go ahead and play by putting their money to work and he would make up the rules as he went along. Obama may be American, but he thinks that he is a benevolent dictator. Like it or not, our constitutional form of government created checks and balances to prevent presidents from going down Obama’s path. The Obama campaign has spent $512mm on negative ads against Romney. Do you really think that scrutinizing an ultra high net worth individual’s taxes is going to help unemployment, reduce the deficit, and improve U.S. trade? At a time when a leader should be creating global trade agreements to help both the EU and U.S. economies, Obama has released the Foreign Account Tax compliance Act (FATCA). Global partnerships are now subject to approval by the IRS. That’s a great example of Obama’s image of American business. He thinks that the IRS is an efficient organization and articulate ambassador for U.S. global buisiness.

When we have a president who was running around talking about transforming America, apologizing to foreign governments, creating division within the country and within government and proclaiming just recently that those who succeeded in creating private sector business were successful only because of government programs it makes many wonder about his true knowledge about this Republic as well as wondering about his loyalties. Many believe as do I that this is a president whose dedicated to a socialist ideology more than he is to maintaining our leadership position in the world.

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
3. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
4. The government cannot give to anybody anything, that the government does not first take from somebody else.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them; and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work, because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

I think it’s clear that Mr. Sununu, the POLITICIAN, understands the benefits of appropriately and accurately classifying Obama as unfamiliar with the American economic system and certainly not a president who advocates for a strong market economy. Sununu is, in fact, correctly labeling Obama as a pro-Big Government liberal with all the attendant baggage (doobies, coke, etc.) who is outta touch with most Americans.
Clearly, Obama is fully prepared to promote Big Government as THE solution to all the unfairness in economic life. The same Big Government that gave us FNMA and FHLMC and their perverse mortgage policies. Those same mortgage policies that have destroyed up to 40 percent of the wealth of the Middle Class. Spare me, please.
And then there’s the obligatory RACIST charge by the liberal tools against Mr. Sununu. Those same liberals who haven’t had an original, critically-vetted thought in the last century. It seems to me that the same liberal community ought to have a candid conversation about the RACIST background of the current President before they cast stones at others. I think MItt’s pal, Sheldon Adelson, provides a good example of the benefits received by the wealthiest among us. You see, Sheldon owns a casino in the middle of the desert. Fortuitously, the American taxpayer built a dam just south of Las Vegas, so that city and Sheldon’s casino, now have access to water in the middle of the desert. Then, in the 1950s America began the construction of an interstate highway system, so Sheldon’s customers can get to his hotel in the middle of the desert. Since then, the government has financed the development of a network of airports, including the one in Las Vegas to provide customers quicker access to Sheldon’s casino in the middle of the desert. Agencies at several levels of government including the Department of Justice, State, and local agencies provide law enforcement services, so that Sheldon’s customers can feel secure at his casino in the middle of the desert.
Is Sheldon’s casino dependent on taxpayer support? — absolutely!

Biden as is his usual stingy self gave a paltry $1,000 again last year despite criticisms in the past over how cheap he is. Shameful and disgusting but typical of a lib politician-generous with taxpayer’s money but stingy with their own. Romney meanwhile has given away millions to charity. Charitable giving is a reflection of two things, (a) one’s earnest desire to share of your wealth to the benefit of others and (b) tax deductions.
So let us just be sure that when you have a lot of cash to spread around, both of those factors are at play. That is why Romney’s tax returns are especially interesting. Anecdotally he contributes to the LDS hierarchy @ 10%, immediate tax deduction. But what are his other charitable contributions? Are those contributions driven by a desire to help others or cha-ching a tax deduction? No one will ever know.
I wouldn’t find it surprising that the average progressive/Democrat contributes less both in absolute terms as well as percentage of income. I re-iterate “average”, that is important. Democrats, on average, are not as wealthy as RMoney’s friends. For many of them their entire income source is critical to caring for and providing for their families.
Let’s eliminate the tax deduction for “charitable” contributions and see how that plays out. That will be a true test of those that contribute because they care (relative to income) and because they get to stiff it to the “man”.

Now we got Debbie Wasserman Schultz investing in Swiss bank accounts, foreign drug companies and the Bank of India, according to the Weekly Standard.
LESSON HERE
Watch your 401K investments…..sometimes funds offered have
some overseas investments.
“Two years ago, her husband had a 401k account in his own name (Not a joint account) which owns shares in a publicly traded mutual fund. This fund now has 5% of its assets invested in a Swiss Bank (Not clear if this was the case in 2010, actually). This made up less than 0.7% of their total assets. Since this is held through a mutual fund, it’s also quite possible that neither she nor her husband was even aware of this holding. Also, at least 50% of the fund’s assets were in US financial companies.” From DK
ALSO, if you have 100 million in a 401K it’s no big deal.

When Vice President Dick Cheney was campaigning in 2000, he defended his family’s charitable donations of $209,832, or about 1%, of the $20.6 million he earned from 1989 to 1999. “It’s a private matter … a matter of private choice,” Cheney said in 2000
IOKIYAR……… Hmmmm… wonder if the silly Ftroopy kiddies have factored in time donated.
But lets get to more current numbers for the Ftroopy kiddies…. Forbes 2011: “Biden’s [2010] return shows $379,178 in adjusted gross income, … $5,350 in donations.” Guess someone’s claim of $1000 donation is just wrong…. How surprising.

Last time I checked Hawaii was the United States of America so Sununu (how “American” is that name?) just called into question the “Americanism” every Hawaiian-born American. More than half of American kids have tried pot before they were 20, even those serving in the military so Sununu (Middle Eastern?) just questioned the patriotism of about half of our Service men and women. As for having ever lived outside the USA be a reason to not vote for a candidate? I guess he’s ignoring his own candidate whose father was born in Mexico and whose son spent 2 years living in France where he proudly learned to speak fluent French. Sounds suspicious to me.

SO. They are bigwigs in the Dem party and I believe Wasserman is the head of the DNC. If she is going to make charges about money offshore the women should at least clean up her own act first.
” He whined about Teresa Heinz Kerry’s money, but last I checked, she didn’t run for President.”
Seriously? He whined about Heinze Kerry’s money? I seriously doubt that. More like he probably questioned why the 3 major networks made maybe 1 story about Kerry’s wealth the first 6 months of the election year that year as opposed to something like 26 news stories mentioning Romney’s wealth at last count so far this year. Media bias?
“If Mr. Romney wants to run with the big dogs, then he needs to stop whining when the big dogs take him through the swamp and the brambles.”
Only whining going on here is a lotta whining about Romney.
“If this is how Romney’s going to hold up to domestic criticism, then I sure don’t want him to be the one to talk tough to the Chinese or the Iranians.”
He’s holding up quite well thank you. Politifact, factcheck, and one other neutral organization made sure of that when they laid waste to that ridiculous claim by Obama about Romney managing Bain capital while working 16 hours a day at the Olympics on the other side of the country. But then again when you’re a Dem and you can’t talk about the economy then what else can you do except sling mud. Its what they do best.
I think its the community organizer who has a problem holding up to criticism when he starts blaming dismal economic performance on ATMs, airport kiosks, earthquakes, Tsunamis, the Arab Spring, just plain bad luck and on and on and on. Too funny.

Two policies in particular contributed heavily to the residential mortgage debacle: the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) of 1977, which pressured private banks to make risky loans the HUD affordable housing goals for FNMA and FHLMC, which caused the GSEs to purchase risky mortgage loans.
A June 2008 Washington Post article states that “from 2004 to 2006, the two GSEs purchased $434 billion in securities backed by subprime loans, creating a market for more such lending.” Furthermore, a 2004 HUD report admitted that while trading securities that were backed by subprime mortgages was something that the GSEs officially disavowed, they nevertheless participated in the market. On September 10, 2003 (note the date), U.S. Congressman Ron Paul gave a speech to Congress where he stated that the then current government policies encouraged lending to people who couldn’t afford to pay the money back, and he predicted that this would lead to a bailout (of FNMA and FHLMC), and he introduced a bill to abolish these policies.
In addition, Gerald P. O’Driscoll, former vice president at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas stated that FNMA FHLMC had become classic examples of crony capitalism. Government backing let Fannie and Freddie dominate the mortgage-underwriting. “The politicians created the mortgage giants, which then returned some of the profits to the pols – sometimes directly, as campaign funds; sometimes as “contributions” to favored constituents.” Some lawmakers received favorable treatment from financial institutions involved in the subprime industry. In June 2008 Conde Nast Portfolio reported that numerous Washington, DC politicians over recent years had received mortgage financing at noncompetitive rates at Countrywide Financial because the corporation considered the officeholders under a program called “FOA’s”—”Friends of Angelo”. Angelo being Countrywide’s Chief Executive Angelo Mozillo.
On 18 June 2008, a Congressional ethics panel started examining allegations that chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, Christopher Dodd (D-CT), and the chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, Kent Conrad (D-ND) received preferential loans by troubled mortgage lender Countrywide Financial Corp. Two former CEOs of FNMA, Franklin Raines and James A. Johnson also received preferential loans from the troubled mortgage lender. Fannie Mae was the biggest buyer of Countrywide’s mortgages and is now in government receivership.
Two additional notes. One, while private mortgage and investment banking companies were clearly involved in this debacle, only their SHAREHOLDERS are disadvantaged by their poor judgement and greed. Whereas, when GSE’s are involved, it is the TAXPAYER who must pay and has paid for the governmental ineptitude. I’m OK with the financial calculus that allows private companies to go bankrupt with shareholder losses. And believe that, were it not a SYSTEMIC crisis, I would have allowed ALL private companies involved to go bankrupt. But also, clearly, if the government had not participated in a large way, the market would have naturally corrected the excess of the private sector much quicker and more efficiently without COLLAPSING residential housing values, and by extension, Middle Class Wealth.
Your welcome.

This is similar to what happened right before the 2004 election, when Fahrenheit 9/11 was released. Conservatives lost their collective minds, screaming about how Michael Moore “lied,” even though no actual lies are present in the film. That said, if it’s so horrifying that a self-admitted ideologue and film producer might actually lie to you, why wouldn’t it be MORE horrifying when a Presidential candidate does it?
I recognize that Ms, Schultz isn’t clean in this regard. And so it’s a good thing that she’s not running for President, because I’d be reluctant to vote for her because of it. Then again, she doesn’t have to be clean to point out that Mitt Romney’s dirty, too.

I would hardly call that whining. Its a legitimate question as to why she never released her tax returns. Romney did. He released his 2010 tax returns and an estimate of his 2011 tax returns. But then I guess if O can’t run on his record I guess he and the Dems have been reduced to whining about Romney’s tax returns from 10 years ago. As if Romney’s tax returns from 10 years ago have an influence on his ability to serve as president. Go figure.

But I do firmly believe we Independents will decide the election come Nov 6, 2012!! Obama is likable, a good family man, but his policies and views of life concern me greatly. I do not trust him with the futures of my children and grandchildren! Romney, I do not know about him, but I guess it is time to give the other guy a chance. If he does not improve the economy and jobs, I would support someone new from either side. I hope a lot of American citizens feel the same as I!!! Notice I said citizens, who are eligible to vote!!

I guess shipping appliance manufacturing jobs to China to be performed by a company owned by Bain and opening corporations in the Bahamas and Cayman Islands is more American than being a community organizer for poor folks in Chicago. Sununu is right. So is El Rushbo when he said yesterday that Obama got through college due to affirmative action despite being a drug addict. This from somebody who is a convicted drug abuser who flunked out of college and never passed a single course according to El Rushbo’s mother.

Close your eyes and imagine America with just tea party members and then close you eyes and imagine we live in Florida at a retirement home. Who do you think has the interest of the future of America in their heart? Tea Party people match up perfectly with this me generation of Republicans, they only see the moment no future to worry about. The rest of us very similar to the Bush administration will be here to clean up the mess these clowns leave us, unless we wake up and say no, hell no. We got more vested in this deal than that crowd and it is obviously clear they don’t clean up messes they make them.

Talking about jobs and all, the local media stooges have been stunningly quiet about Obama’s remarks this weekend about how successful people really didn’t do it by themselves.
They had help.
The govt did it for them by building roads that NO one else obviously uses, by inventing the internet (Owl Gore anyone?), by keeping underqualified union teachers on payrolls as political favors to teach then successful people how to get that way, blah blah blah.
You see, no one is capable of doing anything on their own in his world. You must be bred, led, and fed till dead by the govt to ever amount to anything.
THAT point of view is just about as un-American as it can get.

I would hardly call that whining. Its a legitimate question as to why she never released her tax returns.
but you see, she did, although there were complaints that she took as long as she did…from the same link:
In fact, Heinz Kerry’s reluctance to release tax returns, which she files separately from her husband, was a major story line during the 2004 presidential race. She eventually made public the first two pages of her 2003 return, which showed she earned $5.1 million that year, almost all of it from interest and dividends on investments. She paid $627,150 in federal taxes in 2003, only 12.3 percent of her total income.
And here’s a link to the original Oct. 2004 piece.

Nope. 100% wrong.
80+% of subprime loans were made by lending institutions not subject to regulation or oversight under the CRA. Those risky loans that you’re complaining about were made by lenders that were NOT subject to the CRA.

.Obama Administration Outsourced Jobs with Stimulus Funding
By Matt Cover
July 10, 2012
Obama’s 2009 economic stimulus spending law–the $787 billion American Recovery and Reivnestment Act–gave millions of federal dollars to foreign companies or funded domestic companies that built factories in foreign countries or bought foreign products.
For example, there is the North Carolina LED manufacturer Cree Inc. Cree was awarded $39 million through a stimulus-funded tax credit program in January 2010. However, half of the company’s employees are in China and the company opened a manufacturing plant in Huizhou City, China in November 2009, according to an article in the industry publication LEDs Magazine.
DOE is making up to $9 million available over three years for improving the accuracy of solar forecasting to more accurately anticipate changes in solar power production.
According to the same article, Cree CEO Chuck Swodoba said he did not consider Cree Inc. to be run like a completely American company.
“Cree management never runs this company as a US company. We consider Cree to be a global company with local wisdoms,” Swodoba said.
Swodoba also said he would continue expanding into China, adding that Cree would keep creating jobs there because it could take advantage of both China’s human resources and its “state-of-the-art technology.”
“We will continue to invest here [China] for both human talent and the most state-of-the-art technologies,” he said.
Another example of stimulus outsourcing is Japanese wind energy firm Eurus Energy, whose U.S. subsidiary, Eurus Energy America, received $91 million in stimulus funds to build a wind farm in Texas, according to a 2010 report from American University. That wind farm reportedly was built with wind turbines manufactured by another Japanese company – Mitsubishi.
“Eurus Energy America, the U.S. subsidiary of a Japanese firm, received $91 million in stimulus money for its Bull Creek wind farm in Texas. The farm consists of 180 Mitsubishi turbines,” the American University report said.
Eurus told American University that the wind farm was actually built by British firm RES Americas and is now being run by EnXco, an American subsidiary of the French energy firm EDF Energies Nouvelles.
Another example of the Obama administration funding foreign companies is a $337 million loan guarantee from the Department of Energy’s green energy lending program.
That loan went to California energy firm Sempra Energy for a solar power array in Arizona. However, according to a Feb. 4, 2011 New York Times report, Sempra Energy bought its solar panels from the Chinese firm Suntech. The project, known as Mesquite Solar 1, reportedly used 800,000 of the Chinese solar panels.
Perhaps the best-known example of Obama administration funding of foreign companies is its $500-million loan guarantee to Finnish automaker Fisker Automotive. That loan, part of the Energy Department’s electric vehicle lending program, was made to help Fisker establish a U.S. manufacturing presence.
However, the company never established an American factory, choosing instead to shutter its U.S. operations and continue building cars in Finland

You know exactly what he meant. Just as you know that Romney responded to the invitation to address the NAACP and did just that though the Obama echo chamber claims he was *really* speaking to a different audience. Democrats smear the republicans for not reaching out to minority groups while at the same time telling minorities that republicans hate and fear them. Good grief, after Obama’s appallingly vicious and ignorant insults to middle class business owners who made incredible sacrifices to build businesses (which benefit us all) by saying somebody else made that happen I can understand Sununu’s outrage.
Eurus told American University that the wind farm was actually built by British firm RES Americas and is now being run by EnXco, an American subsidiary of the French energy firm EDF Energies Nouvelles.”
Lest you forget that it was the REAGAN Administration that eliminated the R&D credit for GE to further develop wind turbine technology; that move made Siemens and the Chinese the industry leaders in alternative energy technology rather than GE maintaining their industry status!! If you REALLY want to blame someone, blame your sainted Ronald Reagan!!

You having problems counting Joe? So if 5 or 6 of the W years were okay then where do you come up with 2/3rd of his presidency being feces? Fractions never were your strong suit were they? Only the 2 recession years were horrendous- 07 and 08. The first year was bumpy due to the dot.com bust and 9/11 hitting in his first year but after that the next 5 years were’nt bad. They certainly seemed better on the economic and employment front than the first 3 1./2 years of the O presidency. The employment numbers bear that out. And I don’t think you’re stupid enough to argue that employment during W’s first 6 years was demonstrably superior than it has been the last 3 1.2 years. Facts is facts Joe and the fact of the matter is that unemployment was much lower during the first 6 years of W.

Obama keeps showing his stripes. During the first election it was comments to Joe the Plumber on spreading the wealth around. Now, he comments that business people did not earn or make their business.
Remarks as Obama has made confirms the beliefs Conservatives have of Obama. His background and upbringing, and what he will do to America if he is not voted out.
The lies attacking Romney on Bain Capital and outsourcing have riled some powerful people that are starting to strike back. The vetting of Obama not done during the first election will now occur. It will be so loud the drive by media can’t ignore it. It will be in the news whether Obama supporters like it or not.
The big question is, why with who he is and what he wants to do, does Obama have any supporters?

Between 2004 and 2006, when subprime lending was exploding, Fannie and Freddie went from holding a high of 48 percent of the subprime loans that were sold into the secondary market to holding about 24 percent, according to data from Inside Mortgage Finance, a specialty publication. One reason is that Fannie and Freddie were subject to tougher standards than many of the unregulated players in the private sector who weakened lending standards, most of whom have gone bankrupt or are now in deep trouble.
During those same explosive three years, private investment banks — not Fannie and Freddie — dominated the mortgage loans that were packaged and sold into the secondary mortgage market. In 2005 and 2006, the private sector securitized almost two thirds of all U.S. mortgages, supplanting Fannie and Freddie, according to a number of specialty publications that track this data.

Obama was correct, nobody in the country made it by his or her self. What is it with us that we don’t understand about ourselves. We make decisions like Iraq or Vietnam like it is a unilateral decision. A rag tag army with a fraction of our resources holds us at bay because we can’t get our head out of the sand. No supermen here, too many movies not enough reality.
There is a saying that second and third generational wealth is lost to poor character. This country may be suffering from that right now. We started this country off the hope of mankind but now we have people who don’t need this country they can do it no matter where they are it is all about them. I say line em up in a boat and let em go settle in a country of 1% ers. That would put America about where we were coming into this story. A bunch of refugees, hungry, looking for a better life, we have lost that edge and that one percent blocks the way of getting it back.

Change that paradigm to the Obama Administration…unemployed for three months but have been working SINCE….and home ownership with improving credit rating: (90/365.25/4 = .0616) = 6.16%

Miners and mine union locals tend to support Democrats because Democrats fight for better working and safety regulations for the brave men who venture down into those holes for the rest of us.
It was that way at one time. Now, all mine workers can think about is jobs. They watch coal waste foul their rivers and creeks. They see occasional drownings as coal waste dams break. They look out the windows of their shacks and see entire mountain sides that have been shorn of all timber and vegetation. They ignore the largely ineffectual efforts to enforce mine safety laws. The only meme they know is that Republicans will keep their mines open.
You can’t drive down I-77 in West Virginia without seeing huge signs blasting the EPA and insisting on coal as an energy solution. You can’t turn on your TV without seeing ads from the coal industry that tout coal as the solution to our energy problems. Somehow in all this, people have managed to ignore such phenomena as acid rain and mercury poisoning.
The murderous coal industry is in the back pocket of the Republican Party. It won’t stop till we’re right back to breathing poisonous air and drinking polluted water. And unfortunately, the short-sighted miners have collective amnesia. Is it any wonder that the EPA is in the cross-hairs of Republicans and that supposed “over-regulation” is the battle cry?

We’ve had *several* of our regulars claim that they’re going to beat Obama with the same criticisms that didn’t work last time.
read on.
http://prospect.org/article/vetting-obsession
[T]here were hundreds, maybe thousands of articles written in 2008 (and since) about Barack Obama’s youth. He even wrote a pretty frank book about it himself, before he ever became a politician. If you think he wasn’t “vetted” you weren’t paying attention. But there are millions of conservatives who believe precisely that, and as we approach Obama’s possible re-election, with an extremely busy and consequential first term almost behind us, the obsession with his allegedly hidden past only grows. So what does it mean that a candidate is “vetted”? Does it mean we know everything there is to know about him? Of course, that’s simply impossible. Perhaps it means we know everything important, everything that might make a difference once he’s in office. Which is what makes the continued conservative interest in vetting Obama so strange. Now that he has been president for three years, can’t we just look at his presidency to see what he’ll do as president?
Yet even at this late date, conservatives are still hoping that within Obama’s past lies a blockbuster secret that will change everything once it is revealed, even if it’s not so secret or not so new. Last week the New York Times reported a proposal made to billionaire conservative Joe Ricketts to air $10 million worth of ads attacking Obama for his association with his former pastor, Jeremiah Wright. “The world is about to see Jeremiah Wright and understand his influence on Barack Obama for the first time in a big, attention-arresting way,” the proposal said (my emphasis). It further quoted Ricketts himself asserting in reference to a never-aired 2008 McCain ad about Rev. Wright, “If the nation had seen that ad, they’d never have elected Barack Obama.” Just for fun, I searched Google News for stories about Reverend Wright between March 2008, when the story broke, and election day of that year. There were over 10,000 news stories that mentioned him.
So just what are these people thinking? In a way, their perspective shows an almost charmingly naïve faith in the power of information to persuade. Although the Ricketts plan was quickly aborted, I’m sure that if it went ahead, he wouldn’t have thought he was trying to stir up racial resentment, but rather that he was simply putting information voters needed in front of them

The Republican Party of Rutland County, Vermont, says it regrets a post on its Facebook page that it said was meant to be satirical but which Democrats labeled “racist” and “appalling.”

The post was spotted on Sunday by the Vermont political blog Green Mountain Daily. By Monday, the post was deleted and Rutland County GOP Chairman Rob Towle issued a statement saying he was “very saddened” that some people were offended. What I find the most intriguing about the Obama-Mixed Race thingie is just how insistent the liberal white left is in calling him black, and then, ever so “open minded” sing his academic prowess, his acoomplishments as “black, black, black,” never mind he was raised by the white side of his family and spent a great deal of his formative years in an East Asian socio-cultural milieu. They completely ignore that the President himself makes a point of being of mixed ancestry and is not just African American. It all gives him the perspective to be what he wanted to be: post racial. But neither the white, liberal left or the white conservative right want to let him define it for himself.
That he chose in his more mature years to marry a Black American and build his base in her community in no way diminishes his identity as a multi racial. Black Americans, left and right, have been far, far more tolerant of his mixed ancestry than their white fellow countrymen.
Again, it’s that damnable black-white dichotomy that we just cannot seem to get past in our blindered tunnel vision.

Let’s talk about Romney being Governor of Mass. and job creation. Number 1, the unemployment rate was under 5% under him, so that means that everyone that wanted to work was probably working. Number 2, that state is about wealth, Academics, and blue bloods. They aren’t looking at bidding for a KIA plant, don’t want one. The state is built out. They aren’t grading off large hunks of land and building anything. It’s all political garbage about this subject.

Old Goober — “You can’t drive down I-77 in West Virginia without seeing huge signs blasting the EPA and insisting on coal as an energy solution. You can’t turn on your TV without seeing ads from the coal industry that tout coal as the solution to our energy problems. Somehow in all this, people have managed to ignore such phenomena as acid rain and mercury poisoning.”
I haven’t been up there in five or six years, though my family is on the Ohio side (Athens County, OH). My aunts, uncles and cousins who still live in the area say that the one local mine that has reopened has been a boon to the local economy, but fortunately, they’re not doing mountaintop removal. Also, the coal in that area (farther east) tends to be lower in sulfur, which is (relatively speaking) more environmentally friendly and thus sought out by energy producers. That means jobs in a very economically depressed area.
I can’t say if the folks there have swallowed the company line, but the county elective offices still seem to mostly be held by Democrats. So perhaps they’re holding the line up there.

Funny thing, the media. It can concoct a scandal, all in a half-day’s work for the business that is a hobby of rich men.
Obama calls Romney a felon. Romney demands an apology.
Not-Romney calls Obama un-American. The media demands an apology on Obama’s behalf.
It’s easy to see how it’s going to be. Mr. Bookman is just a hobby of the very rich Cox family, but why they support such an awful President is anyone’s guess.
Romney can either fight back or watch as America becomes encircled by its government, restricted, fined and managed literally to death. The real losers will be the moderate Republicans though, because if Romney loses disgracefully without fighting, but all the while making excuses about what an excellent fellow Obama is, those moderate Republicans are going to be a minority very soon, if not a minority party.
We’ll then see if the media and Jay Bookman prefer dealing with the modern Tea Party. No doubt they won’t–no senility there.

I didn’t really expect you to get what I was saying, and I don’t mean that to be snarky. When you are presented with a menu fixe of choices, you choose one. You finally can choose mixed, but that was only on the last census. How you choose that does not reflect on a bubble-in what your personal relationship to that mixed-ness is in your world view.
Let me put it this way, when registering and doing paperwork for statistical documentation, we cannot get a child in the computer if we do not code his/her race. Every year we have more and more parents who refuse to list a race for their offspring. Still, we HAVE to by federal mandate list a race for the child. And you know what the guidelines say, and I kid you not and this is no hyperbole, what does s/he LOOK LIKE.
Me? I have three lines that are decidedly “Hispanic,” and given the peculiarities of my tribal status, are a source of great pride and identification. But I don’t have an Hispanic surname, Spanish is not my home/mother/native language, even if it is one of my primary languages of daily discourse and conduct of my professional duties. What do I LOOK LIKE? An Aryan wet dream…so, am I white? I suppose so. It depends on my mood of the moment as to what I check on which form.
Now that I can call myself “mixed” without having to check “other” and specify…
You don’t determine a person’s identification with his/her totality by a bubble in box…no matter how easy it may make it for the pigeon-holers….

Good post TGT–Pretending he wasn’t an American…. True enough.
But in trying to transform America–his stated goal, Obama is really trying to transform Americans. In attempting to convert us from workers and achievers into complainers and takers, he’s really the “vanguard” (a word I’m sure he’s well familiar with!) of the new America, at least the way he wants it to be.
In fact, your comment was so pithy and good, that hissing sound you hear is the bulk of the Bookman brigade prepping another undignified sneer.

How does a president “create jobs?” I thought you got a job at a small business or corporation. And if they are concerned about taxes, laws and regulations, then get Congress to fix the problem. Remember that Congress controls the budget and allocates funds, not the President. So I wouldn’t worry about who is President, only about who to endorse for Congress.

It’s called “causality of war”. His citizenship aside, Saddam Hussien 14 year old grandson Mustapha was in the home when it was raided and he was killed by US forces when his father and uncle were also there. I don’t remember any cons crying over that.
————————————————————————————————————–
.
Mustapha was only the first of many kids assascinnated by your President.
I wasn’t referring to him though.
.
Google a more egregious one.
The dead friend was Abdulrahman al-Awlaki, a 16-year-old born in Denver, the third American killed in as many weeks by suspected CIA drone strikes in Yemen. His father, the radical cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, also an American citizen, was killed earlier this month, along with alleged al-Qaeda propagandist Samir Khan, who was from New York. When Abdulrahman’s death was first reported in the Western press, his age was given as 21 by local Yemeni officials. Afterward, however, the Awlaki family put out a copy of Abdulrahman’s birth certificate.

Real Facts About Mitt Romney That We Will Not Hear About From The Lame Stream Media About The Real Mitt Romney!
After going to both Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School simultaneously, he passed the Michigan bar, but never worked as an attorney.
As a venture-capitalist, Romney’s first major business deal involved investing in a start-up office supply company with one store in Massachusetts that sold office supplies. That company, called Staples, now has over 2,000 stores and employs over 90,000 people.
Romney or his company Bain Capital (using what became known as the “Bain Way”) would go on to perform the same kinds of business miracles again and again, with companies like Domino’s, Sealy, Brookstone, Weather Channel, Burger King, Warner Music Group, Dollarama, Home Depot Supply, and many others.

The reality is that some conservatives believe they, and they alone, may declare who is American and who is not. While not comparing conservatives with the Nazis, the Nazis defined who was the “true German”, fertile and virile Aryans.
Mr. Sununu evokes that concept by declaring that Obama needs to learn to be an “American”. No, Mr. Sununu, it is true he may have a different vision of the future for this country but, regardless of the conspiratorial fantasies of the birthers, Mr. Obama is very much an American. But his life experience and situation AS AN AMERICAN is different than most conservative, privileged old fat white guys. So Mr. Sununu wants to declare him un-American.
I suggest Mr. Sununu open a textbook or study some American history. He will soon learn the error of his ways.

I mean, let’s get real, that’s one of the dumbest remarks a President has ever made and is indicative of someone being clueless.
I mean, let’s get real the dumbest remark a President ever made was this: America must not ignore the threat gathering against us. Facing clear evidence of peril, we cannot wait for the final proof, the smoking gun that could come in the form of a mushroom cloud.
And it is indicative of someone who is clueless.

Another day of Jay trying to deflect from the economic failure that is the Obama administration. Soon when the people on the entitlements can’t buy crap with their cards and their checks, they are going to turn on everyone and they are going to lash out in a most unpleasant way because they have come to expect something for nothing. Afterall, Obama and the Democrats have promised them that from the beginning. The democrats have created what amounts to a large number of spoiled children. They won’t care what party you belong to or what color your skin is. They want what they think they deserve because they have been promised it. And that day is coming soon.
Schumer and the Democrats are begging Bernanke to give the country another round or another “fix” of worthless cash printing. Anything to boost the economic numbers before November. After that, they couldn’t care less. And these are the people that Jay and the AJC support. Remember Jay, your children are going to pay tommorrow for your decision to support this today.
And just remember folks, even if Obama is re-elected in November you are going to see the harsh reality of what is going to have be done come to light very soon thereafter, starting with the full impact of Obamacare in 2014. But that will only be the beginning because Progressivism is built upon the premise of weeding out the old and the defective and the non-productive. And you are not going to like it and you are going to feel very, very betrayed by the very man that promised you something for nothing. And Obama won’t care because in 4 years he is done anyway and he will retire to live a cushy life while the rest of America is left to pick up the pieces of his destruction.
Now that I have posted you can change the topic Jay.

I’ll put up Romney’s job experience against Obama’s any day any time!! What kind of experience does Obama have? Really!!! And, as far as sending jobs overseas . . we all know GM sends a multitude of jobs overseas as well as GE . . . did Obama not save GM? And GE is Obama’s big cash cow!! If you liberals would get your head of the sand and stop being gah gah over Obama you would know something!!

I was with you up until you had to throw in the twitter comment.
Of course you forgot to mention all the democrats that are invested in companies overseas and or have “off shore accounts”
Interesting thing in that entire argument, as I was watching my brainwash material last night, I had to tune into The Hannity show. See I knew James Carvelle was gonna be on and well for a democrat he keeps it real.
His point on the entire “off shore” money thing was that he couldn’t believe Romney kept the account. Matter of fact he said and I paraphrase here, everyone knows that when you are seeking the office of the presidency you have to clean up stuff like that, it is well known that democrats also have the accounts but it is startling to him that the Romney camp was so stupid or lazy to clean it up before now.
Seems what the standard really is, and it should be something that a media person would like to explore, who in our government has the accounts or “cleaned them up” before they ran for office. And why did they need to clean them up if they are legal.
But Jay do you do that ? No you just repeat the tag line. Give us the current members of the democratic party who do currently own or have held off shore accounts please.
Oh well we wouldn’t want the media giving us actuall facts would we ?

You can point to people who’re left of center who’re Christian believers and that’s true but it’s also true that many on the left are not Christian believers who can’t understand that the celebration of sin is what offends us not the sinner. We’re all sinners and I don’t want my sin, your sin or anyone’s sin held up for celebration. You may or you may not understand that belief.

Let’s see, he was born of an American mother and a Kenyan father. That’s probably not typical of most old fat white guys. He spent a number of his young years in Indonesia. That is not the experience of most old fat white guys.
The fact his parents divorced – not uncommon. The fact that he worked as a community organizer is not common for most old conservative guys.
The fact Obama is African-American is another itsy-bitsy difference from the old, fat white guys. I don’t think the old white guys would overlook that tiny, minuscule difference.

You know Mitt’s daddy was a naturally born Mexican citizen and he still has lots of Mexican cousins living there. Do you think it is possible they have manipulated his thinking in an un-American way? Sununu surely must suspect this if he is consistent in his reasoning. After all, those Arabs have always been calm rational thinkers.

Josef @ 5:24 continued
So my previous post was about the differences in his experience. Now let’s talk about the differences in vision.
Obama believes there should be a level playing field so everyone has a chance at success. Fat, old white guys think they have a right to be on the top and only those that play by their rules and are accepted into the club can be successful.
Obama believes education should be available to all children so they can be the most they can be. The old white guys think public education stinks and communities should only sink money into charter schools to educate the children of fat old white guys.
Obama thinks the tax code should not allow a CEO to pay less in income tax than his secretary. Obama thinks the tax code should not reward companies for shipping jobs overseas. The fat, old white guys think differently.
Obama thinks everyone should have access to affordable health care. The fat old white guys that used to think that now think that’s a bad idea because Obama made it law.
Obama believes in science, in the need to consider the impact we are making on our planet, the need to be good shepherds of the earth we inherited. Fat, old white guys don’t care because they want to exploit it so they can add more rooms on their mansions plus they expect Jeebus to rescue them soon.
I could to on and on. It is clear there is an experiential and life view different between the two candidates. Let’s see which vision wins in November.

There are so many things one could say, but I’ll stick to the basics. 1. George W. spent more time on vacation than any other president in history. 2. In 2010 the repubs campaigned on jobs, jobs, jobs. Since they’ve had the majority in the House, they have focused on women’s rights, abortion rights and trying to embarrass this administration. They had blocked all of Pres. Obama’s jobs bills until recently; their jobs are up for re-election, you know. If Obama loses this election, you can wave goodbye to all of the middle class and lower. I’ll stop now – it’s too upsetting to think about.

You are in one now.
What you’re doing is pretending that liberal equals right and conservative equals wrong. Then, you’re making the racist statement that white equals conservative. I know of nothing more bigoted and prejudiced said here today than the insinuation that Obama is smart simply because he isn’t “white trash,” a horrible mean label if ever there was one; or that Romney is wrong because his followers are conservative and therefore white trash.
This reductionism is just what we don’t need. We need thinking, and your old bigoted ideas are just plain crazy. Do you hope to avoid the issue of the bad economy, high deficits, risk of default, patent government corruption and failing liberty by tossing around racist comments like that?

Note to Jay Bookman and the Editor of the AJC,
There is a very very strong consensus among liberals here on the Bookman blog that (generally old and poor) white guys are bad. I can only assume that the picture of John Sununu angered them as much as they would impute to these mythical white demons seeing a picture of Reverend Wright. Or perhaps what they see as disagreement is projected as racism. Whichever is the case it is hard to tell.
Sorry fellas. Given your level of articulation, there is really no other way to put it politely.

Well, everyone’s got their childish bogeymen, I suppose… and oh, how those who declare their disdain for racism practice it so openly!
Didn’t “fat old white guys” elect Obama four years ago? Didn’t they catapult Herman Cain to the top of the Republican polling for a few weeks? Didn’t they appoint Condie Rice and Clarence Thomas? Aren’t they inspired by Thomas Sowell? Did “white guys” found this country? Didn’t MLK say that it would be great when people were judged not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character?

At least Obams and the Dems are getting to the real heart of the Bain issue – government funded outsourcing giving Bain and other parasites government tax subsidies to pack up and outsource. Only problem is Repubs had an opportunity to avoid this issue by passing an anti outsourcing bill in 2010 an blocked it.
“”"{”Senate Republicans successfully blocked a bill from coming to the Senate floor Tuesday that Democrats claim would help keep American jobs from going overseas.
Republicans call it nothing more than a pre-election political ploy. The Democratic bill would have ended certain tax breaks for companies expanding overseas while giving new tax incentives to businesses bringing jobs home.
CNN- Sept 28, 2010
Guess what that bill is right back before the Senate right now and guess who is blocking it again??
Isn’t that very American of Mitt and the Repubs Mr. Sununu???. Well this timeObama is using it to kick them in the bu-t.
!70 people in Freeport Illinois just got layoff notices because of a plant that Bain is closing and shipping to China. Any word from the All Americans to stop Bain? Oh I forgot sending jobs to communist China is an American tradition especially with that ax subsidy .

The 99% are MORE American(s) than the 1% are–it’s just plain, simple math. While Obama is far from “poor”, Romney is so very much more of a one-percenter than Obama is that questioning the math skills of Sununu is not unreasonable.
