“I wish this president would learn how to be an American.”
– Top Romney surrogate John Sununu, in a media call this morning arranged by the Romney campaign.
Sununu, the former governor of New Hampshire and White House chief of staff under the first President Bush, has since tried to apologize for the statement. Perhaps he’s trying to unsay it retroactively. Perhaps he’s got his Etch-a-Sketch out, shaking it furiously.
But really, there’s no cause for an apology or retraction. Sununu simply said what he meant to say. For example, is the statement above any different from what Sununu told Fox News this morning, for which he has not apologized?
“He has no idea how the American system functions. And we shouldn’t be surprised about that, because he spent his early years in Hawaii smoking something, spent … another set of years in Indonesia.”
We get it: “Barack HUSSEIN Obama isn’t a real American. He’s not one of US, he’s one of THEM. I mean, just look at him. Where’s his birth certificate? No, not that one, the long form.”
We all understand the message quite well.
On the other hand, as someone on Twitter just put it, “I don’t know … being a pot-smoker is a hell of a lot more #American than hiding money offshore.”

“Buy what you don’t need and cannot afford except on credit. Knowing nothing about the other 200 countries outside America. Wanting everything but not wanting to pay for it – good roads, schools, clean air and water.”

Really Woodstock Mike??? Okay, everytime one of you numpties decide to pull out that quote, I’ll pull out the ENTIRE quote:
There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me — because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t — look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something — there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there. (Applause.)
If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.
The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together. There are some things, just like fighting fires, we don’t do on our own. I mean, imagine if everybody had their own fire service. That would be a hard way to organize fighting fires.
AND YES, I SUPPORT THAT 100%%%

Well, House Speaker Boehner said Obama was “almost” un-American.
I can live with that !!!
Washington (CNN) – “House Speaker John Boehner Tuesday forcefully denounced the Democrats’ campaign theme that they are for the middle class and Republicans are for the wealthy – saying the politics the president is running on are “almost un-American.”
“This is a president who said I’m not going to be a divider, I’m going to be a uniter, and running on the politics of division and envy is – to me it’s almost un-American,” said Boehner.”

This is an UN-AMERICAN (emphasis added) act of our president. Anything that would so blatantly violate an amendment within the United States Constitution is un-American. And Barack Obama needs to rethink what he has just done to the people of America because we’re rising up on this one. I would take issue with the notion that the race has been tightening. Instead, once you remove the statistical noise from the polls, the trajectory looks roughly flat based on our analysis. Mr. Obama has maintained a narrow, but fairly consistent, lead of about 2 points over perhaps the last six to eight weeks.
…
At the same time, Mr. Romney’s campaign has begun to behave as though the attacks are a fairly big deal. And it has backed into a more defensive posture that could change the nature of how they are perceived by the public going forward.

This is a pretty weak column Jay. There is no doubt that Obama is an American. He just has absolutely no clue how the American economy, much less American business, works. If he did, he would never hold Americans hostage by threatening to push the economy over the fiscal cliff. Even Keynesian economists will tell you that raising taxes in a recession is an idiotic idea. “The private sector is doing just fine.” Yeh right. The fatal flaw with all of Obama’s economic policies is that he only offers short term solutions for long term problems. George Shultz had an excellent interview in the WSJ over the weekend. He used a football game analogy to describe the current U.S. environment. Teams were sitting on the sidelines with lots of cash to put to work. However, they weren’t willing to play because Obama hadn’t defined the rules of the game yet. Obama was telling them to go ahead and play by putting their money to work and he would make up the rules as he went along. Obama may be American, but he thinks that he is a benevolent dictator. Like it or not, our constitutional form of government created checks and balances to prevent presidents from going down Obama’s path. The Obama campaign has spent $512mm on negative ads against Romney. Do you really think that scrutinizing an ultra high net worth individual’s taxes is going to help unemployment, reduce the deficit, and improve U.S. trade? At a time when a leader should be creating global trade agreements to help both the EU and U.S. economies, Obama has released the Foreign Account Tax compliance Act (FATCA). Global partnerships are now subject to approval by the IRS. That’s a great example of Obama’s image of American business. He thinks that the IRS is an efficient organization and articulate ambassador for U.S. global buisiness.

When we have a president who was running around talking about transforming America, apologizing to foreign governments, creating division within the country and within government and proclaiming just recently that those who succeeded in creating private sector business were successful only because of government programs it makes many wonder about his true knowledge about this Republic as well as wondering about his loyalties. Many believe as do I that this is a president whose dedicated to a socialist ideology more than he is to maintaining our leadership position in the world.

When asked about the chinese made US olympic uniforms Romney would only say he was going to weigh in, because he knows he lives in glass. Who is for sell ? Romney or the White House, he’s all about off shore.

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
3. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
4. The government cannot give to anybody anything, that the government does not first take from somebody else.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them; and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work, because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

I think it’s clear that Mr. Sununu, the POLITICIAN, understands the benefits of appropriately and accurately classifying Obama as unfamiliar with the American economic system and certainly not a president who advocates for a strong market economy. Sununu is, in fact, correctly labeling Obama as a pro-Big Government liberal with all the attendant baggage (doobies, coke, etc.) who is outta touch with most Americans.
Clearly, Obama is fully prepared to promote Big Government as THE solution to all the unfairness in economic life. The same Big Government that gave us FNMA and FHLMC and their perverse mortgage policies. Those same mortgage policies that have destroyed up to 40 percent of the wealth of the Middle Class. Spare me, please.
And then there’s the obligatory RACIST charge by the liberal tools against Mr. Sununu. Those same liberals who haven’t had an original, critically-vetted thought in the last century. It seems to me that the same liberal community ought to have a candid conversation about the RACIST background of the current President before they cast stones at others. Truly, a “pot calling kettle” moment, don’t you agree?

Joseph you write allot of baloney !
Safety nets are in place for the poor but I think we can all agree that waste and fraud has become a serious problem that dems could care less about.
No Joseph we do not agree with your statement. if you are taking advantage of benefits you should be asked to pay the money back. that was a silly statement.
How about the “Cost plus programs ” created by Dick Cheney we all could agree was bilking the American Tax payer.
How about this……I think we can all agree that waste and fraud has become a serious problem that Republican’s could care less about in the Military complex.
Getting the economy moving again will benefit the poor more than any entitlement ever could.
Really the sick, the mentally ill, as well ?
Oblama and the dems want more people to depend on the gubmint… That’s an obvious fact.. Especially when you see ads encouraging people to do so…
Prove it is a fact, and not your opinion please….. add a link here that states that exactly !

On the other hand, as someone on Twitter just put it, “I don’t know … being a pot-smoker is a hell of a lot more #American than hiding money offshore.”
And of course there are no Democratic bigwigs who have money offshore. For Pete’s sake little ole Doomy has money offshore in 2 small accounts. One in the Curacao and one in Costa Rica. And yes- its money I already paid taxes on. Geez. And Romney paid his taxes just like anyone else and put his money wherever the hell he wants to.
Oh noes! More Democratic hypocrisy? Ironical.
“ABC News has uncovered that White House Senior Adviser Valerie Jarrett has up to a quarter million dollar line of credit in, where else, Bermuda? She’s not the only one.
According to the Weekly Standard, DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz also has a history of overseas investments.
Now we got Debbie Wasserman Schultz investing in Swiss bank accounts, foreign drug companies and the Bank of India, according to the Weekly Standard.
And then we find out, let’s see, Daily Caller, and they point out that Nancy Pelosi has investments in an LLC company, $1 to $5 million. Their singular focus — investing in Asia. And they’re lecturing Romney?”
