I’m trying to decide which right-wing reaction to Thursday’s Supreme Court ruling on ObamaCare is my favorite, and I just can’t settle on one winner. So maybe you could help me.
Here are your options:

A. An angry Glenn Beck — but I repeat myself — referring to Chief Justice John Roberts as “the Dread Pirate Roberts” and announcing that his website would be selling T-shirts featuring Roberts’ picture and the caption “Coward,” all for just $30.
B.) U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt, R-Ohio, celebrating after hearing initial and incorrect reports that the Supreme Court had struck down the mandate:
C.) The statement put out by Roy Nicholson, chairman of the Mississippi Tea Party, who went all Jefferson Davis on us:
“All of us are now simply chattel of the government to be used and ordered about as they choose. The history books will mark this date as the day our constitutional republic was killed. It will now rest with We The People to decide if it will be resurrected or left to rot in the shallow grave dug for it.
Where is the weeping and wailing? Where is the anger and outrage? Do the people of the country realize what has just been stolen from them? Do the people of the world recognize that the shadow of darkness is now fallen upon them as well and that there remains no defender of their feeble freedoms? The all-out oppression of all people has begun.
Those “occupiers” now controlling the three federal branches of government have joined together in rejecting all Constitutional restraint and in doing so they have severely violated their oaths to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. Together they now stand as blatant usurpers of power and have reduced our constitutional republic, along with all of its freedoms, to nothing more than a dictatorial junta. Becoming a banana republic is next.
When a gang of criminals subvert legitimate government offices and seize all power to themselves without the real consent of the governed their every act and edict is of itself illegal and is outside the bounds of the Rule of Law. In such cases submission is treason. Treason against the Constitution and the valid legitimate government of the nation to which we have pledged our allegiance for years. To resist by all means that are right in the eyes of God is not rebellion or insurrection, it is patriotic resistance to invasion.
May all of us fall on our faces before the Heavenly Judge, repent of our sins, and humbly cry out to Him for mercy on our country. And, may godly courageous leaders rise up in His wisdom and power to lead us in displacing the criminal invaders from their seats and restore our constitutional republic.”
D.) Matt Davis, former spokesman for the Michigan Republican Party, who posed the question:
Is Armed Rebellion Now Justified?
“Implicit in Benjamin Franklin’s fabled response at the conclusion of the Constitutional Convention was a dire warning: That the Republic would one day devolve into tyranny unless we the people prevented it.
In 2008, we the people elected Barack Obama as president, and the 100-year progressive trek to tyranny begun in 1912 with Woodrow Wilson’s election was complete. It cannot be said too many times — for the purposes of emphasis and clarity — that the Constitution was possible ONLY AFTER the American Revolution; and that the war itself would not have been possible without the collective agreement, as so eloquently articulated in the Declaration of Independence, that the course of human events will sometimes justify one group of people to sever themselves from their oppressors.
In other words, America itself was possible only after its people summoned the will to risk their lives and their futures — as well as those of their children — for a freedom they did not enjoy but knew was their gift from God. Along with their desire to be free came their willingness to engaged in armed rebellion for their freedom.
If government can mandate that I pay for something I don’t want, then what is beyond its power? If the Supreme Court’s decision Thursday paves the way for unprecedented intrusion into personal decisions, then has the Republic all but ceased to exist? If so, then is armed rebellion today justified?
God willing, this oppression will be lifted and America free again before the first shot is fired.”
Or as they put it in the music-video version:
E.) U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Kentucky, who clearly wasn’t paying attention when he was studying constitutional law back in ophthalmology school:
“Just because a couple people on the Supreme Court declare something to be ‘constitutional’ does not make it so. The whole thing remains unconstitutional.”
F.) Ben Shapiro, editor-at-large of Breitbart.com, who tweeted:

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, we await your verdict.

When a secular state is overthrown, the Islamist factions become free to be at one another’s throats. The internal strife renders the countries impotent. As I wrote previously, the West always prevails in the Middle East because the Islamist factions hate one another more than they hate their Western conquerers. Thus, when Washington destroys secular, non-Islamist governments as in Iraq and now targeted in Syria, the Islamists emerge and battle one another for supremacy. This suits Washington and Israel as these states cease to be coherent opponents.
Cheap, josef, cheap.
No rebuttal, just a cheap low blow. (Pardon the pun.)

By the way libs how is it that in order to “save the court” it was the conservative that had to vote with the libs ?
God help us if we expected a lib to vote with the conservatives against the bill.
Every lib votes for a liberal policy and it’s ok, had he cons voted with th cons policy it would have been a bias court.

This upcoming election probably will be the most important election in our life time. The question before the voters is should this country make a hard left turn that leads to our demise as a world leader or do we turn away from that path and elect leadership that places American world leadership and prosperity above socialism. Hopefully, the latter will prevail and I pray it shall. The former could in all probability not only result in our demise as a world leader but also result in this great country’s demise as a nation.

Hey, josef, post something that tells the blog how the estimated 50,000 to 100,000 Libyans who were killed in our bombardment helped bring “democracy” to that state.
For the rest of you, 58,000 men were killed in Vietnam. Between 50,000 and 100,000 innocent men, women and children were killed by our bombardment of Libya.
You won’t ever hear about that in the media because they’re more concerned about Snooki’s pregnancy and Kim Kardashian’s mega-ass.
But, take heart, those innocent people didn’t die in vain, armed thugs now rule that country’s “democracy.”

In Vietnam we said it’s okay that we lost 58,000 that would have loved to have lived full lives and enjoyed raising families. Forget that we sent them there to fight and die for no purpose that was defined nor even committed to winning. Then because we changed our minds based on politics and our desire to get reelected we wrote them off and did so, even after they defeated their enemy on the battlefields. What a travesty that’s being repeated once again.

Jay, you and the Dem/Libs should not gloat too much over the loony Right shenanigans/reactions to the SCOTUS decision upholding Obamacare. Yep, you won yesterday and you have the right to celebrate because the conservative chief justice surprised every one and pulled a rabbit out of the hat (the Mad Hatter’s hat, for sure) for the Dem/Libs. But, I am pretty certain that had he not pulled that rabbit out, we would have witnessed some “interesting” behavior from the Left. And frankly, I prefer the ridiculous and humorous ranting and raving as opposed to the typical reactions of the loony Left when issues don’t fall their way — rioting and looting and destruction of property. Also, Robert’s decision, has galvanized the Pub/Cons and the great majority of Americans opposed to the bill, and so he may have paved what was once a much tougher road to the White House for Romney.
Obamacare is probably beyond full repeal and replacement now despite all the Pub/Con chest thumping, but there may now be real chance for the Pub/Cons to control the Congress and Presidency. Keep in mind that Obamacare was opposed by roughly 70% of the electorate; it was never presented or sold as a tax because it could have have gotten through Congress as a tax; the bill passed by the skin of its teeth (7 votes in the House and 1 vote in the Senate); and because of the loss of the Senate seat in Massachusetts (owned, bought and paid for by the Kennedys) to Pub/Con, Scott Brown (I hear that a white, blonde, Cherokee Indian, Dem/Lib is running now to get it back) a smoke and mirrors parliamentary procdure, heretofore never used for bills of such magnitude (20% of the GDP) was used to squeak it through.
Also, the bill was not presented or sold as a tax. Every time the Pub/Cons called Obamacare a tax, the Dem/Libs reacted swiftly, including the President, declaring time and again that it was not a tax. In fact, the word “tax” was purposefully avoided in the bill. But then, in was just another cynical and hypocritical move by an administratrion that has not been anything but transparent, and which has depended on business as usual from the day Obama was elected, the Solicitor General arrived for oral argument before SCOTUS, and the first thing out of his mouth was “this is a tax.” Or, it could be a penalty. He was looking for a heads I win, tails you lose decision, and while it is still hard to believe, Roberts and the liberal justices accomodated him and created a brand new health care tax sitting right there on the bench – the largest tax increase in American history.
There may be silver, or heck, even a gold lining, in this dark cloud, because one really really good thing did happen, and you almost have to wonder what was said in the negotiating and deal making sessions inside SCOTUS when the decision was being made. OK, says Roberts to the Libs, I’ll throw in with you and we’ll create a new health care tax and the law will survive — but we are going to reign in the commerce clause which has been misused now for decades because the forefathers did not foresee how insidiould it would become as a tool to increase federal power due to a national economy. And they went along with it. There is now a very clear bright line, just passed, that will prohibit government interference in every aspect of American life, just because the economy is involved in almost every aspect of American life. And als noted, there could be a gold lining in all of this if the Pub/Cons are now able to get control of the Congress and Presidency and if not repeal the bill, make a lot of changes to reduce its scope and cost.

Geez……. So much hyperbole in all this heat will lead to hyperbolic heatstroke, or these could be the indicators that heatstroke has already set in.
All the talk about who would do what based on the decision is nothing but wishful thinking. One side was going to get their feelings hurt. As much as “libs” riot and loot, I’ve never heard them rally around exercising their 2nd Amendment rights. If you really want to get to the gist of it, it would appear that instead of talking about it, those libs simply get to business. They don’t waste time talking threats, they just tear sh*t up.
The sad truth is the citizens who are part of either extreme get drowned out because of the loud mouths who cry about not being heard when they shout down everybody else. I honestly look forward to the day when a president/presidential candidate tells both extreme sides to shut the f**k up so that others can be heard for once.

[War] is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives.
A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people. Only a small “inside” group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes.
Sooner or later, almost every country makes war its major racket. Then, after they are defeated and bankrupt…people are sick of it and want to string up the people who got them into it in the first place.

The ability of the self-serving right-wing to hate all those not just like them is almost unprecedented at this point, Jay, and I’m wondering how much further they’re willing to go to prove how crazy they are. They’ve never understood that their freedom is very important to PBO and the Dems, but then so is everyone else’s. And this is what separates the Dems from them, a point they haven’t understood for quite awhile now.
The Dems got through their extremism during the 60s and came out the other side an inclusive and stronger party; but it remains to be seen if the Republicans will make it through theirs. So I vote for Glenn Beck’s response, Jay, though the rapturous representative shrieking wildly in the street is definitely a very close second.
Maybe things could finally start getting better for Republicans (and America) if all members of their party pasted pictures of these two somewhere convenient to look at first thing in the morning and ask themselves: Is this what you want to become? I mean, maybe then the Republican ship could right itself, get back on course, and become once again a political party devoted to ALL of America, instead of their crazy right-wing that only loves itself!

Man, it’s okay to disagree but why do folks have to go after each other with such vengence.
1. we’re talking, sometimes, about issues of life and death (or we’ve been led to believe as much)
2. people have that ol’ anonymity thing going for them
3. alcohol may be involved.
4. some people get their jollies annoying others
(bunch of reasons, I guess, is what I’m saying.)

Interesting 46/46 split on Gallup, as reported by Jay upthread, on the SCOTUS decision. Same polling outfit has Obama’s approvals split at 47/47, too, today.

josef: I’ll be happy to engage you at any time in an intelligent and polite discourse on the current events of the day.
However, if you resort to cheap shots and personal insults, I will attack you.

No frog, I don’t like shots. I like my bourbon on the rocks, to be savored more slowly.
The Scots sip it neat with just a splash of water, claims it opens up the flavor — they also claim that ice just seizes up the flavor.
Soda water is a major no-no.

Why in the world would I even WANT to attempt to engage you in dialogue. You’ve already made it abundantly clear to me that you are one of those who cloaks his anti Semitism behind the anti Zionist facade. All anybody has to do is review your posts (cut and paste) up to an including supporting the murderous regime of Assad in Syria to further that cause. I’m not sure you’re not a Hezbollah operative.

Dip if you can quote where I attacked someone who first of all didn’t attack me, go for it. Otherwise you can take your candy azz posts and stick them where the sun doesn’t shine. I’m not a nice guy as much as I would like to be.

perhaps I should remind our conservative friends that Bush the elder didn’t lose his re-election bid because he raised taxes. (I’m sure dozens of GOPers stayed home, but that wasn’t it.)
and the GOP didn’t lose the House in 2006 because of deficit spending.
Americans aren’t as obsessed with remaking the republic into some kind of cut-rate libertarian paradise, as the GOP base is. And I really don’t think a whole lot of swing voters are going to be terribly moved by this “See! See? PPACA is a tax, Roberts said so” thingie.

I think the cons are showing their true colors because this President got elected. They don’t take losing well and never get over it.They have not changed or want to change. Their very existence is to stop change in the world but change is constant and you must adapt to change or you will not survive.
Tea party rhetoric will stop when the tea party loses in the election. So if you want civil discourse, purge the tea party candidates from office. It is not that complicated and their goal is another gop rubber stamp congress. If that happens, better prepare for a total collapse and the gangs take over.
