The most over-the-top response to ObamaCare ruling

What's your favorite reaction to Thursday's Supreme Court ruling on ObamaCare?

View Results

Loading ... Loading ...

I’m trying to decide which right-wing reaction to Thursday’s Supreme Court ruling on ObamaCare is my favorite, and I just can’t settle on one winner. So maybe you could help me.

Here are your options:

beck.coward

A. An angry Glenn Beck — but I repeat myself — referring to Chief Justice John Roberts as “the Dread Pirate Roberts” and announcing that his website would be selling T-shirts featuring Roberts’ picture and the caption “Coward,” all for just $30.

B.) U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt, R-Ohio, celebrating after hearing initial and incorrect reports that the Supreme Court had struck down the mandate:

C.) The statement put out by Roy Nicholson, chairman of the Mississippi Tea Party, who went all Jefferson Davis on us:

“All of us are now simply chattel of the government to be used and ordered about as they choose. The history books will mark this date as the day our constitutional republic was killed. It will now rest with We The People to decide if it will be resurrected or left to rot in the shallow grave dug for it.

Where is the weeping and wailing? Where is the anger and outrage? Do the people of the country realize what has just been stolen from them? Do the people of the world recognize that the shadow of darkness is now fallen upon them as well and that there remains no defender of their feeble freedoms? The all-out oppression of all people has begun.

Those “occupiers” now controlling the three federal branches of government have joined together in rejecting all Constitutional restraint and in doing so they have severely violated their oaths to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. Together they now stand as blatant usurpers of power and have reduced our constitutional republic, along with all of its freedoms, to nothing more than a dictatorial junta. Becoming a banana republic is next.

When a gang of criminals subvert legitimate government offices and seize all power to themselves without the real consent of the governed their every act and edict is of itself illegal and is outside the bounds of the Rule of Law. In such cases submission is treason. Treason against the Constitution and the valid legitimate government of the nation to which we have pledged our allegiance for years. To resist by all means that are right in the eyes of God is not rebellion or insurrection, it is patriotic resistance to invasion.

May all of us fall on our faces before the Heavenly Judge, repent of our sins, and humbly cry out to Him for mercy on our country. And, may godly courageous leaders rise up in His wisdom and power to lead us in displacing the criminal invaders from their seats and restore our constitutional republic.”

D.) Matt Davis, former spokesman for the Michigan Republican Party, who posed the question:

Is Armed Rebellion Now Justified?

“Implicit in Benjamin Franklin’s fabled response at the conclusion of the Constitutional Convention was a dire warning: That the Republic would one day devolve into tyranny unless we the people prevented it.

In 2008, we the people elected Barack Obama as president, and the 100-year progressive trek to tyranny begun in 1912 with Woodrow Wilson’s election was complete. It cannot be said too many times — for the purposes of emphasis and clarity — that the Constitution was possible ONLY AFTER the American Revolution; and that the war itself would not have been possible without the collective agreement, as so eloquently articulated in the Declaration of Independence, that the course of human events will sometimes justify one group of people to sever themselves from their oppressors.

In other words, America itself was possible only after its people summoned the will to risk their lives and their futures — as well as those of their children — for a freedom they did not enjoy but knew was their gift from God. Along with their desire to be free came their willingness to engaged in armed rebellion for their freedom.

If government can mandate that I pay for something I don’t want, then what is beyond its power? If the Supreme Court’s decision Thursday paves the way for unprecedented intrusion into personal decisions, then has the Republic all but ceased to exist? If so, then is armed rebellion today justified?

God willing, this oppression will be lifted and America free again before the first shot is fired.”

Or as they put it in the music-video version:

E.) U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Kentucky, who clearly wasn’t paying attention when he was studying constitutional law back in ophthalmology school:

“Just because a couple people on the Supreme Court declare something to be ‘constitutional’ does not make it so. The whole thing remains unconstitutional.”

F.) Ben Shapiro, editor-at-large of Breitbart.com, who tweeted:

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, we await your verdict.

IMHO, It is a mortal sin to slice up a home-grown tomato when it is still green. What a waste.

I went to the orchard last w/e and picked a 1/2 bushel of Red Globes. Picked ‘em myself and there wasn’t a bruise on a one of them when they got dead rip. Got them all in the freezer now, except the ones that went into the delicious ice-cream and cobbler I made today.

Not that I took that to be particularly directed in my direction, but I do admit to being sucked into the soap-opera aspects of these comments section; it’s kind of hard not to, particularly when there are particular actors who work so very hard to be noticed.

Headline: “Recent Athens incidents show people more ready to defend selves, property”

“These and other recent cases involve very different facts, but one theme resonates as a common denominator: citizens seem more ready these days to protect themselves or others who may be in mortal danger by using a gun,” Carlson said.

Citizens are bombarded every day by media reports of crime in their own towns and elsewhere.

“People have grown tired of crime and are willing to confront it,” Carlson said.”

Well, I say the most over the top response to the Activist Court ruling was the one I saw up at Billy Bob’s last night. Some guy was saying the SC ruling wasn’t so bad. Then Bubba Snedegar come up from behind and brung a beer bottle down right on top of his head. And while the guy was on the floor Bubba flung his wallet at him and said “Here, if you’re going to rob me to pay the insurance of a bunch of bums you might as well go all the way.” Anyway, folks sure are touchy about this Obamacare.

RB: When in the hell are you going to share the results of that survey you’ve been pretending to do for at least 6 months? You do know at this point nobody would bother believing you actually did it don’t you?

Ha! I already knew YOU wouldn’t believe me. But I am doing exactly what you wanted. I have ASKED the business owners and managers. While I knew you wouldn’t ever believe the results anyway, I didn’t know you would pretend that you cared about the time frame. Kudos to you for making up a reason to invalidate results you haven’t even seen yet.

But in case you’re curious about what you might expect to see from the opinions of business owners and managers, here is something for you to read:

http://guides.wsj.com/management/recruiting-hiring-and-firing/how-to-reduce-employee-turnover/

Notice not a single aspect of that indicates YOUR contention that employees are just lazy. Successful managers know that treating their employees like scum, even just in their minds, is bad business. But apparently you’ve been “successful” despite that. So kudos to you. Carry on.

What you say is true. Why would you assume I do not realize this? There are many routes to enlightenment. If you take the time to listen to the Needleman interview, I think you will find it enlightening.

The deeper one delves into any area of knowledge, or understanding, the more enlightened one becomes. It is not a matter of expanse of knowledge, but of depth of knowledge, or understanding. I have a teacher’s innate propensity to want to share thinking of quality which I discover. I shared the link to Needleman’s interview, which I heard for the first time yesterday afternoon, with readers on this blog because most of the topics he discussed had been explored, recently, by others on this blog.

I hope that you, and others, will take the time to listen to Needleman’s thoughts. I think you will find his thinking rewarding.

The losers are: employees, particularly of mid sized companies, tax payers who will have to endure another trillion of deficit spending/additional taxes, physicians, and all seeking access in an environment with a further reduction of physicians….bad law all around.

I think the media has done a horrible job, sometimes on purpose, communicating this law and others to the public. They allow the misinformation to stay out there and many times I really don’t think they understand themselves what the law says. We got a sample of their work on Thursday morning, but it goes deeper than that. There use to be a dependability in the country that the press and networks would inform us on matters of this nature, now in interviews the interviewer is silent as the interviewee goes through talking points that don’t answer the question asked.

This is not the biggest or most massive tax increases in the history of our country. How can senators vote on the bill with all the information given to them and then come back and say if you had told me this was a tax, like they had been tricked. If that is all it takes to trick a US Senator with all his resources the public pays to educate him we now see what a lobbyist can do with these handicapped men and women that are there for our security and protection.

Stevie 8:03 agreed, there are winners and losers

From an income standpoint, the poor will benefit significantly (which I generally deem to be good if done in the right way, but this is not), the wealthy are big losers, the working class are small losers

The law is redistribution via healthcare

It’s a 2000 page document

The reason there is a lot of confusion is because the law itself is confusing

The law frequently contradicts itself

That’s what happens when you write exceedingly long and complex legislation

JM,

Yes I did forget the biggest benefactors those recieving vouchers…I’m actually ok with providing coverage to those not covered…just think the feds and the IRS are not the right ones to control….residual market mechanisms (assigned risk for auto cover for example) that are financed via premium taxes I think a better approach…will drive up costs but the increases will be finite and accountable as opposed to being infinite and political.
