“Forbes has confirmed that billionaire Sheldon Adelson, along with his wife Miriam, has donated $10 million to the leading Super PAC supporting presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney -– and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. A well-placed source in the Adelson camp with direct knowledge of the casino billionaire’s thinking says that further donations will be “limitless.”
Adelson, who has built Las Vegas Sands into an global casino empire, will do “whatever it takes” to defeat Obama, this source says. And given that Adelson is worth $24.9 billion –- and told Forbes in a recent rare interview about his political giving that he had been willing to donate as much as $100 million to his initial presidential preference, Newt Gingrich –- that “limitless” description telegraphs potential nine-digit support of Romney.”
This is the world wrought by the naivete and partisanship of the Roberts court.

I did posted some remarks earlier today by Sen Harry Reid on how he thinks being Mormon is more compatible with being a Democrat than being a Republican. Maybe that freaked out some on the Left?
Whatever happened to live and let live?
I may post this again, but it does, for me, pretty well lay out the fears many have regarding LDS (Mormons).

they both suck,
There are actually some things about ACA which I fully support- in particular the removal of a lifetime cap on coverage, the medical loss ratios, etc. I just think I would have structured it much differently and more similarly to the workers comp high risk pools.
I would have structured penalties for not having insurance differently also. If someone is young and didn’t want to pay for at least a catastrophic coverage I woulda said fine. Don’t carry it. But if you get sick then the govt will step in and provide for your care. And then 5% of your paycheck is going to be garnished the rest of your life until the medical debt you ran up is paid off similar to student loan debt which has to be repaid no matter what. I would put a cap on that rule that I just mentioned but I would want it known that if you choose to gamble there are consequences and repercussions to pay if you get sick and john q taxpayer has to provide for you.

1) Regarding my position on doctrine:
II Timothy 4:2 “Proclaim the message; persist in it whether convenient or not; rebuke, correct, and encourage with great patience and teaching.”
2) Regarding the Gospel itself:
Let’s put it this way …………. when it comes to eternity (the only thing that really counts) Jesus was as narrow minded as it gets:
“I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me.”
“Except you believe in Me, you are dead in your sins.”

It ended up being politics as usual. Obama was hell bent on passing something and the Repubs were hell bent on it not passing. There are some things in the ACA that did come from Republicans eventhough many on the right would say it was an all Democratic bill. They got what they could and then voted NO.
Would have been much better if both sides came to the table with open minds and realistic ideas and policy. But it wouldn’t be DC if they had done that

I believe their religion is wrong but that’s a different discussion seeing as how every Catholic or every different Protestant sect thinks their faith is the real deal. As for the rank and file everyday Mormon you won’t find more honest and decent people on average than Mormons. Those folks are generally honest to a fault. And they are not cultists either of course.
Nice music in that video. Reminds me of the music of a certain movie years back starring a certain feller named James Earl Jones who played a really cool character. Doomy do love that music he do.

Bruno:@ 10:14. Elaborate please.
Mr. B–Sorry to get back so late. I’ll have to trust that my answer will get to you somehow, someway.
Point blank, I find Scout to be both annoying and misguided when he comes out with crap like his 11:11 post:
“But ………………… I don’t make the rules ……… He does.
And He claimed to be the ONLY way. So, we are back to square one”
The annoying part of his statement is pretty easy to illustrate. To claim to speak for the Creator of the Universe, as I mentioned earlier, is beyond arrogant. It’s downright pathological in my opinion. No matter how often Scout, and others like him, point to the Bible as the source of their statements, the source of their authority, in the end we can only speak for ourselves. To assume some kind of Divine Authority via tossing around Bible quotes is to claim Divine Authorship. I may be going out on a limb here, but I don’t place Scout, or any other human, at that level of existence.
The misguided part of his statement is a little harder to explain, but it has to do with the fallacy of believing in a single pathway to experiencing Absolute Truth ( = the Buddha = the Tao = God). By its very nature, the Absolute is contradictory, encompassing both Good and Evil, Light and Dark, Right and Wrong, the One and the Many. As such, there is no single, fixed set of words which can completely capture the Spirit of the Absolute, and no single set of rules which can guide our conduct in every conceivable situation. At best, we can keep a recognition of the duality of the Absolute in mind at all times, and keep our customs and rules flexible enough so that we can best adapt to an ever-changing reality.
The failure of Modern Christianity, IMO, is in pushing the concept of being “saved”. As much as we would like to have a permanent “Get Out of Jail Free” card, there is none to be had, no matter how much “faith” we have, no matter how often we attend church or how much we toss into the collection plate. Buddhists are prone to the same error by aspiring to some sort of permanent “enlightenment”. Or even aspiring to some form of temporary “enlightenment”. At best, we can live in the moment and see things as they really are, not as we wish them to be. To aspire for any other state of being means that we’re lost.
Just my two cents, as always.

Interesting…
Breaking from Newsmax.com
Gallup: Most Blame Bush for Economy
About two-thirds of Americans believe Republican former President George W. Bush is responsible for the nation’s struggling economy, with a smaller percentage blaming Democratic President Barack Obama, a Gallup poll showed on Thursday.
About 68 percent of the more than 1,000 adults surveyed nationwide said Bush, who left office in January 2009, deserves a “moderate amount” or a “great deal” of the blame for the U.S. economic woes compared to 52 percent who pointed to his successor Obama, the poll found.
The results were released as Obama prepared to give a major economic speech later on Thursday as part of his campaign to win re-election on Nov. 6. He is seeking to convince voters that his economic remedies are working and that his Republican rival Mitt Romney’s policies would trigger an economic crisis.
Poll respondents who identified themselves as Republicans were split, with 49 percent saying Bush deserved a moderate amount or great deal of the blame while 51 percent said Bush deserved not much of the blame or none at all. They expressed even more blame for Obama, however, with 83 percent holding him largely responsible for the state of the economy, the poll found.
Among Democrats, 90 percent blamed Bush for the weak economy and only 19 percent said Obama should carry much of the blame, according to the poll, conducted by telephone June 7 to 10.
“Republicans, in short, are significantly more willing to blame their most recent Republican president than are Democrats willing to blame Obama,” Gallup said.
Independent voters, who could play a critical role in the November election, were more likely to blame Bush (67 percent) than Obama (51 percent). Fewer independents blamed Obama than Gallup’s last results in September, when 60 percent pointed to him, the poll found.
Many Americans are still struggling to recover financially from the nation’s deepest recession since the Great Depression of the 1930s, and Obama is trying to regroup after recent setbacks, including an anemic May jobs report.
“Americans continue to place more blame for the nation’s economic problems on George W. Bush than on Barack Obama, even though Bush left office more than three years ago,” Gallup said. “This suggests that Obama’s argument that he is on the right track and needs more time to turn the economy around could fall on receptive ears, particularly those of independents.”
Bush, who served two four-year terms as president, has been unable to shake the blame since Gallup began tracking the economic finger-pointing in 2009, and has seen about 70 percent of those polled holding him responsible since mid-2010.
Critics say Bush’s tax cuts combined with increased spending to fight two wars, among other costs, helped plunge the nation into a deep economic crisis.
The poll had a maximum margin of sampling error of plus-or-minus 4 percentage points.

The two were watching third host Steve Doocy interview a member of a Navy band which had been all-male until 1980.
“Women are everywhere,” Kilmeade said. “We’re letting them play golf and tennis now. It’s out of control.”
With that, Carlson was out of her seat.
“You know what?” she said, walking away. “You know what? You read the headlines, since men are so great. Go ahead.”
“Finally!” Kilmeade said, adding, “leaving an all-male crew.”

http://content.usatoday.com/communities/onpolitics/post/2012/06/romney-delivers-prebuttal-to-obama-speech/1#.T9senZiD_g0
“I’ve been talking to small employers and and big employers, and I hear day in and day out, they FEEL this administration sees them as their enemy. They FEEL that the Obama policies have made it harder for them to put people back to work. Almost everything the President has done, has made it harder for them to start a business.”
This might be handy to keep in mind next time a conservative tells you that it’s the liberals are all about manipulating emotion, all about feelings.
It’s also handy to note that Romney is basing his economic message on pulled-out-of-his-butt, unverifiable nonsense.

I disagree. A long, sustained barrage of negative attack ads is certainly enough to steer an election, particularly if the person being attacked doesn’t have the wherewithal to counter them with attack ads of his/her own. You may not turn everyone, but you can turn a 5-10% of the “independent” or “swing” voters (those are nice words for “dumb”) without a lot of effort.

Can’t help but notice Peadawg never answered my question about what bills Obama has signed that he should “take responsibility for” that have caused massively negative results on the economy and jobs. Just a hint: “If you can’t figure it out I can’t help you” is not an answer, and it also ignores that I’m asking for information genuinely. In essence, it’s avoidance.

As if obama is the first to hang with celebrities? Damn, when you are the president you are in some rarified air – it goes with the turf and so what anyways…

I’ve run out of patience for President Spineless
ok, honestly, that pet name doesn’t especially bother me. I disagree, but at least you can make a case that he could’ve been more courageous here or there.
It’s the “President Trillions” name that, frankly, has me thinking you haven’t really thought it out. I’m assuming you’re upset that the debt burden has increased by ~5 trillion or so since he took office, and that’s why he gets the name?

Mick,
Seems to me the hanging out with celebrities with material frequency is the exclusive territory of liberals…Clinton, Barry, Kennedy…of course, with possible exception to John Voight, the all lean (or fall) on liberal side…Granny I’m not sure what affection envy is but learned long ago that responding to more than one of your brilliant postings a day is a waste of time.

Stands,
I respect your opinion but the deficit scares me, the failed stimulus scares me and the concept of “trillions” of dollars has never been mentioned with more frequency in prior presidencies….he, like congress et al have zero respect for out tax dollars….relection is prime objective….

Peadawg: The tax cut extensions that were bundled with unemployment extensions and other measures to help people get back on their feet so they could get a job, after which there were consecutive months of private sector job growth? THOSE tax cut extensions?

adam, the healthcarte bill was signed by Obama and it seems as though employers are waiting it out before they hire. We are told that corp America is sitting on more wealth than ever, why are they sitting on it if they like Obama’s vision. When Obama paid off the UAW and screwed the bondholders in the bailout big biz also took notice. If these bills were so good why are we still above the 8% unemployment that Obama said we would never even get to if he got his 800 billion in stimulus ?

Doesn’t look like it to any serious person looking at the state of affairs. Companies are hiring, government (of which at least the military’s healthcare plan, TRICARE, is exempted) is not hiring.
So nice try.

By making GM successful? Big biz took notice of that and said “I’m not hiring now!”? Fat chance.

above the 8% unemployment that Obama said we would never even get to if he got his 800 billion in stimulus
He never said that actually. That was a CBO (non-partisan, from Congress) projection based on the idea that the economy wasn’t tanking as much as it did.

But your concession that the tax cuts are bad policy in general is noted.

“And you’ll do whatever it takes to avoid the question ” – Just b/c you don’t like the answer I’ve given you doesn’t the answer isn’t valid.
“But your concession that the tax cuts are bad policy in general is noted.” – You keep repeating that like it means something. I’ve said the tax cuts for millionaires were bad for a while now.
