Billionaire Adelson: ‘Limitless’ $$$ for Romney

From Forbes:

“Forbes has confirmed that billionaire Sheldon Adelson, along with his wife Miriam, has donated $10 million to the leading Super PAC supporting presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney -– and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. A well-placed source in the Adelson camp with direct knowledge of the casino billionaire’s thinking says that further donations will be “limitless.”

Adelson, who has built Las Vegas Sands into an global casino empire, will do “whatever it takes” to defeat Obama, this source says. And given that Adelson is worth $24.9 billion –- and told Forbes in a recent rare interview about his political giving that he had been willing to donate as much as $100 million to his initial presidential preference, Newt Gingrich –- that “limitless” description telegraphs potential nine-digit support of Romney.”

This is the world wrought by the naivete and partisanship of the Roberts court.

The Saducees and the Pharisees would. It was their stock in trade. And I hope you won’t be too offended when I say this, but from my perspective, you often come off as their lineal descendant. You are far more concerned with the “letter of the word” when it’s in your interest to do so, and eschew the “spirit of the word” if it requires you to look more deeply into your soul. I’m not trying to be mean. It is your search and answer for the cosmic om and is just as valid as any other.

On February 2, 2009, Barack Obama confidently announced the following performance standard for himself in an interview with NBC’s Matt Lauer:

Lauer: “At some point, will you say, ‘Wait a minute – we’ve spent this amount of money, but we’re not seeing results, we’ve got to change course dramatically’?”

Obama: “…A year from now, I think that people are going to see that we’re starting to make some progress, but there’s still going to be some pain out there. If I don’t have this done in three years, then there’s going to be a one-term proposition.”

Unemployment has increased in the past three years from 7.8% to 8.5%, and has remained above 8% for an all-time record 36 consecutive months.

Here’s why that 8% benchmark is particularly damning. In January 2009, his administration projected at the onset of his nearly $1 trillion spending “stimulus” that unemployment would not exceed that number. The Obama Administration further projected that the 8% peak would occur all the way back in October 2009, and be down to approximately 6% today.

Instead, the U.S. has endured a record stretch of unemployment and is $1 trillion deeper in debt because of it. From canceling the Keystone XL petroleum pipeline to suing Boeing, America’s largest exporter, the Obama Administration’s own policies have directly contributed to that result.

Moreover, today’s unemployment rate doesn’t even reflect the number of Americans who have simply dropped out of the employment market and stopped looking for a job in dejection. The straightforward unemployment rate only counts those who report that they actively seek work, meaning that the rate would be closer to 12% if the number of dropouts hadn’t jumped.

Meanwhile, federal debt during Obama’s three-year performance period has increased a breathtaking 43%, from $10.6 trillion to $15.2 trillion under his brief watch. That translates to an increase from $34,731 per person three years ago to $48,699 today.

Under Obama, deficits went from being measured in “billions” to being measured in “trillions.”

In 2008, the nation’s deficit reached $455 billion, jumping to $1.4 trillion in 2009, $1.3 trillion in 2010 and $1.3 trillion again last year. Just this week, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) announced a projected $1.1 trillion deficit again this year, making it four straight trillion-plus deficits under Obama.

Other economic benchmarks have fared no better during Obama’s self-imposed performance period. Gasoline prices, which hit everyday Americans particularly hard, have almost doubled from $1.85 in January 2009 to $3.43 today. The number of poor Americans has increased by 6.4 million, from 39.8 in January 2009 to 46.2 million now, while the number of food stamp recipients has risen from 32 million to 46 million. Gross domestic product (GDP) grew an anemic 1.7% last year.

During Obama’s tenure, the U.S. has also fallen from a “Free” economy to a “Mostly Free” designation according to the worldwide Index of Economic Freedom.

In the face of these realities, Obama will rationalize his failure by scapegoating everyone but himself, despite the fact that a Congress controlled by his own party enacted his agenda from day one of his tenure. He can’t marshal the facts in his defense, so he will instead marshal speculation and excuse.

Three years on, he has spent a lot of other people’s money and made big government even bigger. But by his own performance metric, Obama has failed.

Saw your post earlier about “manning up”. For the most part I can agree, however it is ironic that some of the same lending institutions rightfully saying the same were the ones running to Uncle Sam for bailouts due to their own malfeasance…

Not a defense for someone who bit off more than they can chew, but it shouldn’t just be the consequences for the avg joe while big banks get tax payer loans for little to no interest……… pay them back at a slower rate than the accumulate interest that they make off the money they have in the bank via the loan….

I think you have said before that you spoke out against the bailouts and loans, so not speaking to you but in general…….

Mormons believe, and this is proved by their doctrine (The Book of Mormon), that:

1. Jesus came to the United States in the 1800’s,
2. Jesus met with a man named Joseph Smith,
3. Jesus told Smith he was His new apostle, and
4. Jesus said the United States was the new Jerusalem.

I dare any Mormon to deny this is what they believe.

George Soros has given over $8 billion, that’s BILLION, to philanthropic causes, above and beyond his donations to political ones. His endowment to the Central European University in Budapest is the largest of its kind. His contributions to the transition of Hungary from into the world capitalist economic system is credited with that, the smoothest of them all, country’s rapid reintegration into a more unified Europe. His has put relentless pressure on the European states to respect Romany rights.

He’s no better nor no worse a manipulating capitalist than any of the others. But he does have a pretty good record of actually putting his money in places where it has had a direct and profound affect on the daily lives of the little people.

From this evening’s AJC.

So now are we going to call Obama the food stamp president or the medicaid president? The fascinating thing about this article is that it states that the medicaid deficit instate will grow to 600 million due to drumroll……….Obamacare! No doubt. The man and his boondoggle are going to bankrupt this nation.

The state Department of Community Health plans to ask the state legislature for roughly $308.2 million to make up the gap for fiscal 2013, Vince Harris, the agency’s chief financial officer, told board members.

“The looming deficit comes at a time when the state health agency is also facing the addition of another 600,000-plus Georgians to its Medicaid rolls starting in 2014, as part of the program’s expansion under the health care law.”- There’s your Obamacare impact folks!

“The budget numbers that we have are very daunting,” Commissioner David Cook said.

The health care program is also looking at a $90 million deficit for the current fiscal year. That accumulated in large part because the state legislature did not allocate funds for the final month of payments to three for-profit companies that manage care for primarily low-income kids and moms in Medicaid.

Cook estimates the annual Medicaid deficit will reach more than $600 million within three years.

I agree with you on the sheer number of them that are just looking for a free ride. I know a few of em myself that really just need a kick in the pants- not another freebie.

That Peace guy you were addressing – interesting you thought he was a lib. My thought is most of the people who blog here who are anti-Mormon are definitely not libs.

State officials are in the process of redesigning Medicaid, which covers roughly 1.7 million low-income, elderly and disabled Georgians, hoping to curb costs while also improving care.

The redesign effort should help address some of the program’s financial challenges, said Cook, adding that Medicaid is growing more quickly than Georgia’s overall economy. It is expected to account for 17.5 percent of the state’s budget by 2014.

Now lets hear the intelligent liberal debate response to runaway social programs bankrupting us->

Don’t Forget,

Where is the lie in that commercial? Bain capital tried to save and turn around many companies. Some were beyond hope and were shuttered. That’s just life. And all that commercial did was paint a negative portrait of Bain capital. But I don’t see where it out and out lied. It just told the story of one company that failed and used it to make Romney look bad. But where specifically is the lie you mention? Perhaps you can specify it exactly and we’ll go from there.

I’m not sure what will pass or not pass from the ACA. I for one say it could have been a better bill. No doubt about that.

With that said, it does have Repubs at least addressing the issue more than I think they have in the past. Although they fought tooth and nail…… Repubs kept saying, we have a plan, we have a plan…. more than they ever did before Obama came to town

What we end up with, I don’t know. What we have now, doesn’t work across the board. If that makes me a pinko, who cares.

Having the best doctors and technology in itself doesn’t say we have the best health care.

I’m actually hoping for a partial pass so both parties have to sit at the table. A total pass or a no pass, will get us status quo for the next several years

So much for the line “But I’ve got a daughter your age.”

More like “But I’ve got a great-granddaughter your age.”

When are these old rich guys going to learn you can avoid a lot of problems and save a lot of money by renting instead of buying?

Paul,

I’m certain there are some cons who believe Mormons are a cult, not to be trusted, etc. But from what I’ve seen since Romney won the nomination at least a couple of times a day we usually see a snipe or 2 about Mormonism from one of the lefties on here. That’s been the experience of what I’ve seen and I believe earlier on this threat that Aquagirl or someone else made a comment about Mormonism. Bottom line is that on this blog its a pretty good bet that the overwhelming majority of bigoted comments about mormonism are coming from the left.

Well, I wonder if this Adelson fellow has a extra two or three hundred thousand jingling around in his pocket. Maybe I could send him a e-mail and say I was really caught in a bind between voting for Obama or Romney. I could sorta hint that the trailer roof leaks and little Nathan Zell George could use some new shoes and then poor-mouth for awhile.

Who knows, maybe he’d send me a big check. I’d love to have a couple hundred thousand in the bank and then drive out to the boss’s country club and while he was putting take a big dump in the putting cup, sort of like them people at Piedmont Driving Club. Then finish it all by giving the cheap s__t the finger and telling him to stick the job up his ___.

Course, I’d need to make sure the check cleared first.

But this Adelson probly won’t send me anything. He’ll send millions to a guy that has a elevator in his house so his wife and him don’t have to walk to the car, but not a penny for a poor old redneck that hauls and lugs heavy cases of beer all day.

I reckon I better hit the sack and get rested before I need to get up and stock shelfs for you drunks bloggers so you can swap weird music tomorrow night. Have a good night everybody.

So what? Governor Romney needs all the tools in his arsenal to fight the massive Obama Machine. When you add up that fact that the liberal ObamaMedia with its trillions, it is a tough fight for an honorable, pragmatic, conservative like Governor Romney. MOST OF RATIONAL-THINKING AMERICA DOES NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH PATRIOTS LIKE ADELSON! GET OVER THE FACT THAT HUSSEIN OBAMA HAS FAILED ON EVERY LEVEL. YES, THIS IS A ONE-TERM PROPOSITION AND MOST FOLK HERE WILL AGREE THAT IT WAS ONE TERM TOO MANY. I PRAY THAT WE WILL NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE AGAIN. I thought that we learned from the mistake of Jimmah Carter – what with a nation that sat there and gloated along with the liberal media that a doltish peanut farmer was such an outsider. WHAT A JOKE! Jimmah, just like Hussein was weak-kneed and failed miserably. BUT WHAT HAPPENED? President Reagan was rightfully elected. He didn’t whine. He didn’t keep blaming failed, liberal Jimmah. President Reagan did the right thing by rightfully cutting taxes and spurring the longest period of economic growth in world history. Don’t give me this crap about how Pres. Reagan raised taxe$. Any tax increase that happened on His watch was the work of that fat drunk from Taxachusetts. Pres. Reagan’s cuts STILL OUTWEIGHED THOSE INCREASES! I’m tired of the liberal media falsely painted the successful Reagan Record! WE NEED TO GET BACK TO REAGANOMICS AND THE CLOSEST THING THAT WILL HAPPEN WILL BE ROMNEYNOMICS COMING TO YOUR PLACE OR TOWN IN JANUARY 2013! FREEDOM WILL BE BACK TO OUR SOIL IN JANUARY 2013!
GOOD NIGHT!
AMEN,
