Legislators in New York have found the enemy, and that enemy is YOU.
Yes, you. Those of you sitting out there reading this and getting ready to respond anonymously in comments below. You are the problem, and they have the answer to that problem:

That’s right. Under bills filed in both the New York Senate and Assembly, it would no longer be legal for blogs, social media outlets, newspapers and other Internet outlets to allow anonymous commenting. All commenters would be required to post under their real name, and the blog administrator would be required to have on file the commenters’ home addresses, phone numbers and email address.
As Wired reports, Assemblyman Jim Conte defends the legislation as necessary to cut down on “mean-spirited and baseless political attacks.” The requirement would “turn the spotlight on cyberbullies by forcing them to reveal their identity.”
Thomas O’Mara, the Senate sponsor, believes it “help lend some accountability to the Internet age.”
Politicians wanting to make citizens accountable…. Isn’t that backwards?

In the interests of being fair and balanced…
From Georgia…
It is illegal to use profanity in front of a dead body which lies in a funeral home or in a coroners office.
Donkeys may not be kept in bathtubs.
No one may carry an ice cream cone in their back pocket if it is Sunday.*
Goldfish may not be given away to entice someone to enter a game of bingo.
Owners of mules may not allow their animal to roam around Athens unsupervised.

• Unlike New York, in Georgia it is illegal ONLY if the cone is in the back pocket…

josef,
Those laws are funny but it makes you wonder what was happening that had to be specifically addressed by legislation. In Georgia it is illegal to site a landfill within 5,703 yards of a National Historic Site. You reckon the government had a specific target with this law?

I will admit to leaving out one part, though. After the last one was published (Nov 2004), one nice lady called to invite me to the neighborhood ladies’ bible study group, and I went (once). Heathen..
In Bellingham. Washington it is illegal for a woman to take more than three steps backward while dancing? Why? There was a time when it was a fad to see how many steps a woman could take backward while dancing…it was creating havoc on the dance floors, but there was no law that said they couldn’t…so…
I’m not sure, but I think it was Lawrence, Kansas, it’s illegal to walk backward down the street eating more than a triple decker ice cream cone…much the same reasons as the Bellingham dance one..
BUT
Washington is a most forward looking state.

Sinkwich,
Sounds like you’re right. But true cons seem to be making a comeback. I just saw that Wisconsin governor Scott Walker is not only leading after the recall effort but opening up his lead. And the big news is that the Dems just pulled out 100k in advertising in what looks to be a concession that Walker is going to win.
Seems like only months ago that the Dems and liberals on this blog were celebrating over Walker’s imminent demise and defeat via a recall. The crowing over Walker going down was louder than a heavy metal band.
But in a shocking reversal of fortune it looks like a conservative tidal wave is coming and Walker is at the forefront of it. The Wisconsin election is June 5 and is a harbinger of things to come- much to the dismay of liberals.

Latest polling data shows Gov Romney leading among likely voters over President Obama by 94% Romney, 3% Obama, 3% undecided.

REPORT: “Senate Dems pay female staffers less than male staffers…”
“A group of Democratic female senators on Wednesday declared war on the so-called “gender pay gap,” urging their colleagues to pass the aptly named Paycheck Fairness Act when Congress returns from recess next month. However, a substantial gender pay gap exists in their own offices, a Washington Free Beacon analysis of Senate salary data reveals.
Of the five senators who participated in Wednesday’s press conference—Barbara Mikulski (D., Md.), Patty Murray (D., Wash.), Debbie Stabenow (D., Mich.), Dianne Feinstein (D., Calif.) and Barbara Boxer (D., Calif.)—three pay their female staff members significantly less than male staffers.”

Didn’t the British try to seize those awful tracts that Thomas Paine put out anonymously?
Good grief, you would have thought by now we would have learned that anonymity doesn’t work.
Or did it ?
“Published anonymously by Thomas Paine in January of 1776, Common Sense was an instant best-seller, both in the colonies and in Europe. It went through several editions in Philadelphia, and was republished in all parts of United America. Because of it, Paine became internationally famous.
“A Covenanted People” called Common Sense “by far the most influential tract of the American Revolution….it remains one of the most brilliant pamphlets ever written in the English language.”
Paine’s political pamphlet brought the rising revolutionary sentiment into sharp focus by placing blame for the suffering of the colonies directly on the reigning British monarch, George III.”

“How many integrated school buses can go down a rabbit hole?”
Just enough until rich liberals find out “their” kids are on board.

Why don’t you anonymous posters try to get a Letter to the Editor printed in the paper? That’s an accomplishment.
Most posters would never say in public the kind of crap they write on these blogs.
Anonymous posting is for losers who are afraid to sign their name to their opinions.

Reagan Zombies bummed when the blood of His Holiness does not go to auction.
A European auction house Thursday canceled the planned online sale of a vial containing dried blood residue said to be from Ronald Reagan after complaints from the late U.S. president’s family and foundation.

Not with that one in charge down at the Ole Plantation on Pryor Street…Jaime Cuervo is back in bidness and the l’il brown ones can just shut up, go where they’re told, and be grateful to be used to further the plantation liberal agenda…

“Re busing
Govt policy is often screwed up
But desegregation was good”
Desegregation as an ideal was good and still is but forced busing did NOT work.

Interesting that the Obummer is trying to sell that that bogus article written by Rex Nutting to divert attention from his dismal record. Jay must have been in the loop regarding this lame Obama campaign strategy. Kyle did a great job of blowing it away.
