Adam – I’m merely stating my beliefs and opinions about it. I feel that we as a nation went to far. Those are my feelings. Then again, I don’t see it as the country’s job to provide internet access to all of its citizens. If parts of the country don’t have it already, I’m guessing there is a reason for that. Maybe the people providing it don’t see it as profitable at this time. But I don’t see it being a “right” or a federal government type project. I grew up without access to high speed internet or cable in a time when that was already unheard of. I didn’t think the government needed to provide my parents with a way to receive it, and my opinion on that hasn’t changed.

Actually my reasons have little to do with my say.
I feel each state is a lil different from the next. A good thing. Thus a one size fits all HC plan or Ed. Plan does not work.
With that in mind, it flows to the main point for me. It would be ran on a state level. Thus making it smaller and less likely to have as many slipping through cracks or loopholes. Also since it is on a state level it makes the laws much more fluid and able to change with the market or the results. As in my opinion it is way easier to get things passed in a quick fashion on the state level as opposed to the national level

(ir)Rational: Then again, I don’t see it as the country’s job to provide internet access to all of its citizens
But that’s not what happened. What happened was putting money into creating the infrastructure in areas that would otherwise remain in the early ages of dial up, thus allowing companies to expand into those areas, create more jobs, and provide internet to more people at faster speeds. They still have to pay for it except for limited subsidy programs that were already in place.
If parts of the country don’t have it already, I’m guessing there is a reason for that
Yes, the almighty free market didn’t deem them worthy of it.
I grew up without access to high speed internet or cable in a time when that was already unheard of. I didn’t think the government needed to provide my parents with a way to receive it, and my opinion on that hasn’t changed.
And there was also a time that a land-line telephone was considered a luxury. But that doesn’t mean initiatives like this are not a good thing to do, just because you or someone you know anecdotally personally didn’t feel the need for one.

Adam – Still don’t see it as the government’s job to set up the infrastructure for private companies to use. To my mind, roads are different, because they aide in defense of the country and delivering the mail. Two necessary and appropriate functions for the government. Providing the infrastructure for broadband access to the middle of nowhere doesn’t really fit that bill. Again, this is just how I see it, but it obviously points to a difference between our political ideals. I want the government out of as much of my life as possible. I can’t speak for you.

GS: Thus a one size fits all HC plan or Ed. Plan does not work.
That is true. There has to be a certain amount of flexibility, but not complete and utter disconnect, such as, oh, no one in this state can perform an abortion unless they jump through hoops and no university can teach it in medical school. Or no one in this state is allowed to teach evolution, it has to be creationism. There has to be a standard in place for stuff like that so states don’t try to become little islands unto themselves like some of them have been trying to lately.
With that in mind, it flows to the main point for me. It would be ran on a state level. Thus making it smaller and less likely to have as many slipping through cracks or loopholes.
That’s actually not true. All governmental levels have similar percentages of waste, fraud, and abuse, as do private corporations. There are some statistical outliers, but they are the exception, not the rule.

Why no blame to dems though? They had a bailout too.
Of course, they did!
And I’ve written about that extensively.
Without a huge part of the Democrats in Congress, King “Taxation Without Representation” George II could never have given away those zillions of dollars to the Titans of Criminal Negligence and Malfeasance. (i.e. the neocon heroes of Wall Street)
The biggest sellout of the American people in 236 years.

I disagree, people are smarter than u are giving them credit for. Jobs will disappear, colleges will loose enrollment, and then politicians will lose their jobs. We as a nation can withstand a state or two failing for a few years to get their act straight, while other states prosper. People will migrate, we have since our exisitance. But we cannot as a nation afford to fail for a few years and then get our act together.
Other point I wasn’t referring so much to corruption. But to those slipping thru cracks, especially in education. It is our job to take care of the corruption, each time you step into a voting booth

Oh lawdy, There goes Adam agin thinking he’s proved a point while copying Brocephus with the face palm thing. Geez Adam. I’m sure I’m not the first person in the hsitory of the world to use that kinda language with non matching verb/noun usage or the repitive phrases. I’m just the only blogger on here to my knowledge that regularly does it. That is my point.
You need help on a couple things- 1 originality 2- quit taking things so seriously and 3- quit arguing with everyone over every little thing. Even some of the other liberals probably find you tiresome.

I don’t feel a need to answer a question posed in response to another question as an attempt to deflect, especially if you then psychologically project onto me your own deflection techniques. Man up and admit that you deflected, and that your question isn’t a real question anyway.
