Your morning chuckle, courtesy of Obama and Kimmel

Politico has posted its lists of the 15 best jokes told by Barack Obama at the White House Correspondents Dinner, and the 18 best jokes told by host Jimmy Kimmel.

Personally, I think Obama had the better writers, but you can judge for yourself. Here’s my choice for the best five by each of them, in no particular order:

First, Obama:

– “Now, some have said I blame too many problems on my predecessor, but let’s not forget that’s a practice that was initiated by George W. Bush.”

– “Jimmy got his start years ago on ‘The Man Show.’ In Washington, that’s what we call a congressional hearing on contraception.”

– “Recently, [Romney's] campaign criticized me for slow-jamming the news with Jimmy Fallon. In fact, I understand Governor Romney was so incensed he asked his staff if he could get some equal time on ‘The Merv Griffin Show.’”

– “Look at this party. We’ve got men in tuxes, women in gowns, fine wine, first-class entertainment. I was just relieved to learn this was not a GSA conference.”

And one not on the Politico list:

– “What’s the difference between a pitbull and a hockey mom? The pitbull is delicious.”

And from Kimmel:

– “If you told me when I was a kid I would be standing on a dais with President Barack Obama, I would have said, ‘The president’s name is Barack Obama?’”

– To Obama: “Remember when the country rallied around you in hopes of a better tomorrow? That was hilarious.”

– To New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie: “I think you’re misunderstanding New Jersey’s slogan. It’s not the Olive Garden state.”

– “It’s great to see the Gingriches here, because that means the check cleared.”

– “Democrats would like you to stick to your guns. And if you don’t have any guns, you can ask Eric Holder to get some for you.”

HDB – Stop blaming Bush…it has been almost 4 years…if you are then include Pelosi, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Harry Reid. They all helped create the mess.

The bottomline is…

1) Home values have declined significantly for most.
2) Retirement has been stagnant at best
3) almost impossible to get a loan
4) gas is high…outrageously high.
5) not sure on the future of the economy based on continued 8%+ unemployment and a debt beyond the imagination.

Is the debt bubble next?

SteveAtl – “How is your home value doing?
How is your retirement return going?
Have you tried getting a loan lately?
Do you commute with Adam in the Prius and not use gas at $4.00 a gallon?”

Okay, I’ll try to answer these in turn:

1. How is your home value doing – Just fine, I bought on the lower east side of Manhattan, and RE prices have been fairly stable for the last 5 years. However, if you were foolish enough to buy into an overpriced subdivision made from pre fab parts, you are probably getting soaked. Can’t help you with you lack of vision.

2. Retirements been great. I took a little bit of a hit back in 2008 when the ecomnomy tanked, but since I didn’t run for the hills, my portfoliaos have all rebounded nicely. Of coursr a lot of the investment income is sheltered from any CG taxes.

3.I don’t usually borrow, unless it can benefit me in some way. Recently I took out a loan for $26,000 to buy a new Can Am. Sat on the money for 1 montrh and then paid the loan back before the first payment came due. Great way to keep your credit rating up.

4. I do have a Prius, but it’s usually parked in the garage unless I plan to do some extensive travel, so gas really doesn’t affect me that much. I have noticed that it’s gone down since the last time I filled up about a month ago.

Any other questions?

If bigger tax cuts for me will help the Republicans, I’m willing to make that sacrifice. Go ahead Republicans. Eliminate my fed taxes on my pension and make all my dividend income tax free instead of having only qualified dividends as tax free. I’ll survive somehow.

Our president is a riot. No surprise his comic timing was so good at his dinner with firends the other night. He had some really great one liners he didn’t use. Like when he told us he would give health insurance to 40 million unisureds at no cost. That was really funny. Or the time he promised that he would increase the cost of energy. Then after actually doing it, he claimed somebody else did it. What a joker. How about giving millions and millions of our dollars to companies he knew would fail. What a sense of humor. Then said he would cut our deficit in half while spending more money than any president in history. Then the one about how he would not hire lobbyists in his administration while he was offering jobs in his administration to lobbyists. That is the art of humor. Bend the truth with a surprise ending. I love the one when he claims he is going to penalize the oil companies knowing full well that it will be a tax on everyone who drives a car. His newest joke is the student loan act. His own party put an expiration date on the act calling for an incrase in interest this year and he was not present for the original vote. Now he wants to vetoe the Republican passed act rather than use money from his own private slush fund. What a joker. Or how about his Democrat controlled Senate who can’t bring up a bill for a vote while Obama lies about it being Republicans who can’t get anything done. I could go on and on. But you all know the lies.

One more time for you groveling, self-sidelined, self-emasculated, servile trickled on-ers, go back to hiding under your beds.

And let the Americans with a spine and a brain, renew the cause of Thomas Paine’s Civil Disobedience, and speak out en masse against injustice and corruption like brave Americans always – including the original American patriots and Founding Fathers -always have.

Occupy Wall Street demonstrators, whose anti-greed message spread worldwide during an eight-week encampment in Lower Manhattan last year, plan marches across the globe tomorrow calling attention to what they say are abuses of power and wealth.

Organizers say they hope the coordinated events will mark a spring resurgence of the movement after a quiet winter. Calls for a general strike with no work, no school, no banking and no shopping have sprung up on websites in Toronto, Barcelona, London, Kuala Lumpur and Sydney, among hundreds of cities in North America, Europe and Asia.

For our federal government hating, historically illiterate fake conservatives”

I. Of the Origin and Design of Government in general, with concise Remarks on the English Constitution.

Paine begins this section by making a distinction between society and government, and then goes on to consider the relationship between government and society in a state of “natural liberty”.

He next tells a story of a few isolated people living in nature without government, and explains that the people find it easier to live together rather than apart; thus, they create a society.

As the society grows, problems arise, and the people meet to make regulations in order to mitigate the problems. As the society continues to grow, a government becomes necessary to enforce these regulations, which over time, turn into laws.

Soon, there are so many people within the society that they cannot all gather in one place to make the laws, so they begin holding elections. This, Paine argues, is the best balance between government and society.

SteveAtl – “Butch…I thought you lived in a house…now it’s an apartment. You making things up again.”

I never said that I lived in a house. And yes, people buy apartments all the time in NYC. As to the Can Am, I wanted something a little more manuverable with a larger profile than a standard 2 wheel. Traffic in New York can get dicey, so the more they see of you the better. Plus the Can Am has more storage capacity for longer trips.

No secret about my financial status. I have posted here many times that yes, I was a trust fund baby, but I also made a great deal working in Finance for 20 years before I retired. It’s too bad I’m no longer a member of the GOP, they could use all the help they can get.

You deserve it sore losers.”

The 2010 elections – Democrats lost; specifically the US House. Also, lost many state legislatures. Mayor Elephant Ears Reed is the standard barrier for the crappy Democratic party in this state. Come again chief.

“People joke that Mormons wear `magic’ underwear, but that simply isn’t the case. Our underpants represent our faith, and remind us that we need to stay pure. Every single time we see our underpants on us, it’s like God is saying `dude, I know you’re all alone, and you thought Jim’s third wife was pretty risque showing off those ankles of hers, but look at your underwear!’ It’s like a chastity belt, but without all the chaffing.”

As usual, the looney left deflectors take a good idea and ruin it. Out constitution which the left only believes in when it fits their radical ideas, guaranty the right of peaceful assembly. It does not guaranty the unwashed a free place to camp out and deficate on public property for the rest of their miserable lives. Hey lefties, go to one of your favorite country’s, like Cuba, Russia, China, Viet Nam, North Korea, or Venezuela where the socialist communist governments have their own belief in freedom of assembly and freedom of expression. They know how to deal with squatters.

Steve USA – “Can’t speak for Butch but putting up a large amount of Cash is common in Condo’s because you also have HOA fee’s or whatever they call them in NYC.”

Exactly, it’s the co-op fees along with Maintenence costs etc.. Unlike a traditional condo, you are actually purchasing part of the building, and share the responsibility with the other owners. It’s a great deal, because there are some great tax write offs, plus with a co-op, you are a shareholder with the other residents which allows for a much better run operation and a better quality of life.

“guaranty the right of peaceful assembly.”

Are you sure?

LOL…

And you fake conservatives absolutely HATE that right.

So you make up childish, slanderous wholesale lies about tens of thousands of great Americans to justify your paranoia and insane reactionary ideology of submissiveness.

Grow a pair and join us. Or do what you do best. Stay unempowered and bitch about those of us who won’t…

For YOU especially Right and Mike:

The whole history of the progress of human liberty shows that all concessions yet made to her august claims have been born of earnest struggle. The conflict has been exciting, agitating, all-absorbing, and for the time being, putting all other tumults to silence. It must do this or it does nothing.

If there is no struggle there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom and yet deprecate agitation are men who want crops without plowing up the ground; they want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters.

This struggle may be a moral one, or it may be a physical one, and it may be both moral and physical, but it must be a struggle.

Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will.

Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both.

The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.

Men may not get all they pay for in this world, but they must certainly pay for all they get. If we ever get free from the oppressions and wrongs heaped upon us, we must pay for their removal. We must do this by labor, by suffering, by sacrifice, and if needs be, by our lives and the lives of others. ~Frederick Douglass, 1857

Nope. 23 Dems retiring; 18 reps. Dems have to gain 25 to take majority – good luck with that pal. GA-14 a pick-up for reps; Barrow – on borrowed time.
