In 2007, then-candidate Barack Obama made it clear what he would do as president if he learned that Osama bin Laden was hiding in Pakistan and that U.S. forces had a chance to take him out:
“If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and (Pakistani) President Musharraf won’t act, we will.”
His then-opponent, Hillary Clinton, took a similar stance:
“If we had actionable intelligence that Osama bin Laden or other high-value targets were in Pakistan I would ensure that they were targeted and killed or captured.”
However, another presidential candidate took issue with such statements, as Reuters reported at the time:
“I do not concur in the words of Barack Obama in a plan to enter an ally of ours… I don’t think those kinds of comments help in this effort to draw more friends to our effort,” (Mitt) Romney told reporters on the campaign trail….
Romney, the former Massachusetts governor who is one of the Republican front-runners, said U.S. troops “shouldn’t be sent all over the world.” He called Obama’s comments “ill-timed” and “ill-considered.”
“There is a war being waged by terrorists of different types and nature across the world,” Romney said. “We want, as a civilized world, to participate with other nations in this civilized effort to help those nations reject the extreme with them.”
In 2008, as the primary season heated up, the debate continued.
“It’s not worth moving heaven and earth spending billions of dollars just trying to catch one person,” Romney said in a GOP debate. After that statement drew harsh criticism from John McCain and others, Romney toughened his language a few days later, suggesting that he would indeed target bin Laden.
Obama, on the other hand, stuck to his original position:
“We need more troops, more helicopters, more satellites, more Predator drones in the Afghan border region. And we must make it clear that if Pakistan cannot or will not act, we will take out high-level terrorist targets like bin Laden if we have them in our sights.”
Based on the evidence, it’s too much to argue that Romney would not have committed the manpower and money needed to track bin Laden. You also can’t argue that Romney would have balked at sending troops into Pakistan to kill the terrorist leader. Maybe he would have.
But against that “maybe,” you have the fact that another man had told us quite clearly what he would do if given the chance, and then did it.

You need to cut this line Jay. The next sentence is redundant.
Otherwise, point well taken.
We will see many more instances in the near future where Romney will refuse (or try) to take responsibility for his own words.

You’re right about Romney maybe recanting his election rhetoric – Obama did with respect to Guantanamo, being out of Afghanistan, gay issues and a number of things he was going to “change.” Just this week the new slogan came out – “Forward.” “Let’s forget about what I said last time around about hope and change, I’m still the only hope you’ve got if you aren’t a right-wing Neanderthal. Let’s move forward together.”
It comes down to you can’t believe a word any politician says. I’m going to vote for the Forward guy but I’m not at all happy about it.

No, Dave, he did not.
Obama has not changed his position on closing Guantanamo. He has simply failed to convince Congress to agree with him. That is not a flip-flop.
Contrary to your claim, Obama campaigned on putting two new brigades into Afghanistan; he has done exactly what he said he would do.
He said he would end “do not ask, do not tell,” and he has done so.

Well, we sent President Bush to Afghanistan to get Bin Laden, and he did balk and then took us to an unnecessary war in Iraq. After that, he dismantled the intelligence unit activated to find him, and as far as the Bush administration was concerned, it was over.

Well, Romney would of not only got bin Laden but turned him into a Mormon. See, bin Laden was already halfway there. He never touched booze and he had a whole bunch of wifes. It’s just that he had to learn about the Golden Tablets and maybe go on a mission or two to other countrys. And maybe do a better job of firing people instead of just outright killing them. And maybe get a car elevator put in his house.

Best line I saw this weekend, the Obamaniacs are crazy to raise the question of whether Romney would have authorized the SEALs to do their job. Even Dennis Kucinich would have authorized the shot. The funniest story I have heard – no basis, may be apocryphal – is that Obama delayed the decision (as always) for about three weeks, risking losing the window for action. Another funny story – similarly apocryphal, may not be true – is that he had to be dragged off the golf course for the photo-op.
The sad thing is that this is the great achievement of the Messiah. A decision that any idiot would have made.

Romney did not have the same information that Obama did when he decided to send the boys in, so this argument is bogus and Jay Bookman and the rest of the liberal media trumping this during campaign season to try and get the golfing Kenyan and his world traveling wife back in the white house. Unfortunately, many of us look at more of the same that we accuse republicans of. Like job czar Jeff Immult sending more jobs overseas. http://www.whiteoutpress.com/articles/wach/jobs-czar-sends-american-jobs-to-china571/ Unfortunately, in an economy that thrives on consumption, the loss of value in the housing market, the lower wages of jobs created under Obama, and the higher prices of food and gas, electric, etc. this consumption based economy’s slight growth will probably not turn a real corner any time soon for the nominally skilled worker.

‘What Romney Said About bin Laden”
“So just what did Romney say in that interview? Yes, he did say “moving heaven and earth,” but he also discussed at some length a greater war on terror that targeted not only al Qaeda but other terrorist groups as well. For the record, this is the exchange between Romney and Associated Press reporter Liz Sidoti:
SIDOTI: Why haven’t we caught bin Laden in your opinion?
GOVERNOR ROMNEY: I think, I wouldn’t want to over-concentrate on Bin Laden. He’s one of many, many people who are involved in this global Jihadist effort. He’s by no means the only leader. It’s a very diverse group – Hamas, Hezbollah, al-Qaeda, Muslim Brotherhood and of course different names throughout the world. It’s not worth moving heaven and earth and spending billions of dollars just trying to catch one person. It is worth fashioning and executing an effective strategy to defeat global, violent Jihad and I have a plan for doing that.
SIDOTI: But would the world be safer if bin laden were caught?
GOVERNOR ROMNEY: Yes, but by a small percentage increase – a very insignificant increase in safety by virtue of replacing bin Laden with someone else. Zarqawi – we celebrated the killing of Zarqawi, but he was quickly replaced. Global Jihad is not an effort that is being populated by a handful or even a football stadium full of people. It is – it involves millions of people and is going to require a far more comprehensive strategy than a targeted approach for bin laden or a few of his associates.
SIDOTI: Do you fault the administration for not catching him though? I mean, they’ve had quite a few years going after him.
GOVERNOR ROMNEY: There are many things that have not been done perfectly in any conduct of war. In the Second World War, we paratroopered in our troops further than they were supposed to be from the beaches. We landed in places on the beaches that weren’t anticipated. Do I fault Eisenhower? No, he won. And I’m nowhere near as consumed with bin Laden as I am concerned about global Jihadist efforts.”

Judge: Texas can’t ban Planned Parenthood from health program
A federal judge on Monday blocked a Texas rule that would have excluded Planned Parenthood from participating in the state’s women’s health program.
In a win for Planned Parenthood, U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel ruled Monday there was sufficient evidence the state rule barring Planned Parenthood is unconstitutional. He imposed a temporary injunction against enforcing it until he can hear full arguments.
________________________________________
The rule forbids state agencies from providing funds to an organization affiliated with abortion providers. It was set to go into effect on Tuesday.
In response to the new rule, Eight Planned Parenthood clinics that don’t provide abortions sued the state. The clinics say the law unconstitutionally restricts their freedom of speech and association.

It is so much easier remembering you promises when you don’t flip flop. Obama ran what most people have called one of the most organized presidential campaigns ever, in his first election. It would stand to reason that an organized man would remember his promises, when he made one he put more than yesterday’s news into his thought process and if asked the same question again he would, unless something factually had changed pretty well give you the same answer. Kennedy use to say the reason he looked so much fresher than Nixon, in their campaign, was it takes a lot more energy to make up lies than it does to be the same honest answer on every question.
Romney is already trying to reedit his stance on women. If you are a woman or a illegal immigrate, he is trying to soften that to, or a citizen period how can you plan you future by a crap shoot. Why would you want to? Obama may not have all the answers but at least he has honest answers and there will be no whoops involved after he flip flops on a whole segment of Americans to curry favor with another.

For Jay to infer that any American president would not have gotten Bin Laden if they had the chance is pathetic “well maybe”. The intelligence network that Bush and the Pentagon laid out years ahead of Obama’s election was the set-up for the operation. The real credit goes to those intelligence and military personnel that were involved in setting this thing up and executing it. Now Obama is asking everyone to believe that it was his involvement that made the operation successful. This is at the very best incredibly arrogant and at the very worst the act of a desperate politician who knows he has nothing else to fall back on. Being the consumate “reed in the wind” politician that Obama is, if for one moment he would have thought that this mission had a chance of failure and that it could hurt his political ambitions, he would have called it off. Our Intelligence and our Military are the ones that deserve the credit for this, not Obama. Given the same set of circumstances, any American president would have done the same.
Oh yea, another Obama stormtrooper got the ax today. Not because he was doing something the Obama administration disagreed with but because he was caught on tape doing it. Al Armendariz, the EPA regional director in Texas (the Crucifier) turned in his resignation to Lisa Jackson and she quickly accepted it. The “crucifier” must have gotten the message that no-one, and they mean no-one, makes Obama look bad in an election year even if that person was just carrying out the policies that the administration have asked for from their agencies department heads. Thus, Obama throws another acoloyte under the bus. Of course, those working for this administration should expect this type of treatment. They are working for one who is not above using fascist techniques to achieve his political goals. Loyalty doesn’t mean squat to this demagogue.

The only thing that has changed since this subject was “worn out” previously on this thread is, Romney is the potential nominee. Wait…wait…, no it’s not. Something else has changed. And what could that be boys and girls? Low and behold, little Barry has changed his mind; otherwise known as a flip flop.
Obama stated at the time he should not spike the football, so to speak, about getting OBL. Now with Romney as the nominee and killing OBL probably the only thing on his record he can crow about, he spikes the football.
And who narrates a praising comment in the commercial? None other than slick Willie who had an opportunity to get OBL but turned it down. Did you Clinton lovers get that? Willie had a chance to get OBL and did not – that was pre-9/11. Now Willie praises Barry for doing what he would not. This is a circus.

4. That never before, nor since, has a steel-framed building “collapsed” on account of fire?
5. That 1,500+ architects and engineers completely discredit the NIST (National Institute of Standards and Testing) account of what happened, including the so-called “pancake” collapse.

Taranto has a funny analysis today:
A reader calls our attention to a March 2004 interview that Cathleen Falsani of the Chicago Sun-Times conducted with Barack Obama, then an Illinois state senator and candidate for U.S. Senate. In 2008 Steve Waldman, then editor of BeliefNet.com, republished the interview, which he described as “the most detailed and fascinating explication of Barack Obama’s faith.” This part caught our interest:
Falsani: Do you believe in sin?
Obama: Yes.
Falsani: What is sin?
Obama: Being out of alignment with my values.
This is a tad ambiguous. Is Obama declaring himself the ultimate moral arbiter, so that you are a sinner if you are out of alignment with his values?
That would be an uncharitable construction. It seems more likely that he is declaring himself his own moral arbiter, so that he is a sinner if he is out of alignment with his own values. To our mind it is not a recognizably Christian conception of sin.
Ragnar add: most Christians in my acquaintance define “sin” in terms of God’s expectations. Revealing that the Messiah arrogates that power to himself.

Now, I have no objection to Senator Clinton thinking that her approach is superior. But the fact of the matter is, is that if, as we’ve heard tonight, we still don’t know how Senator Clinton intends to enforce a mandate, and if we don’t know the level of subsidies that she’s going to provide, then you can have a situation which we’re seeing right now in the state of Massachusetts, where people are being fined for not having purchased health care but choose to accept the fine because they still can’t afford it even with the subsidies.
And they are then worse off. They then have no health care and are paying a fine above and beyond that.

to Brosephus at 5:50 PM — there is nothing wrong with Obama running an ad highlighting his accomplishments such as giving the order to get bin Laden. What makes what he’s doing so unseemly is that he’s using it to attack Romney.
Anyway, it’s actually a pretty desperate move on Obama’s part. What it shows is that they really think they are behind Romney. Think about it. Obama has pretty much reached his peak whereas Romney can only go up.
That in a nutshell, is the reason for the desperation so early on Obama’s part. One part of the Obama strategy has been to try and stir up all the Democratic base groups, which is why we hear about a war on women, a war on Hispanics, a war on workers, etc….
The only way the man can win is if he stirs up enough resentment among his core groups that they turn out in greater number. He’s beyond being able to convince anyone to support him who is not already supporting him. There are still plenty of hacks in the msm who will gladly follow the marching orders given out by the White House. But increasing numbers of people working in the msm are not crazy about carrying this guy’s water anymore.

I’ll admit that at first I was a little dubious about the Obama-camp suggestion that Romney might not have made bin Laden a priority. But a review of the record suggested they might be right.
It’s also true that if Romney 2012 were running against Romney 2008, he of the “we mustn’t anger our allies” and “bin Laden isn’t all that important,” Romney 2012 would be accusing his foe of putting other nations in front of our national interests and wanting to run an apology tour for killing bin Laden.

Why isn’t the Obama/Romney drones bragging about this?
———————————-
A group of Pakistanis met in Islamabad late last month to discuss the impact of U.S. drone strikes in their communities. One of the attendees was a 16-year-old boy named Tariq Aziz, who had volunteered to learn photography to begin documenting drone strikes near his home. Within 72 hours of the meeting, Aziz was killed in a U.S. drone strike. His 12-year-old cousin was also killed in the Oct. 31 attack. “People were aware of the threat to them. Yet they volunteered—Tariq, in particular, because he, at his age in that remote community, was familiar with computers, was excited about the idea of being able to document the civilian casualties,” says reporter Pratap Chatterjee, who met Aziz days before he was killed. As part of a larger investigation on the CIA-led U.S. covert drone war, Chatterjee and the Bureau of Investigative Journalism reports that drone strikes in Pakistan have killed at least 392 civilians, including 175 children. “I question as to whether the CIA is really attempting to identify people before they kill them,” he says. “It would have been so easy for the CIA, the ISI, to come question these kids, to have taken them aside, even put them in jail or interrogated them… But instead they chose to kill them.”

So, Republicans can attack Obama saying that he can’t run against his record. At the same time, Obama CAN’T use his record to attack Republicans. Ok. Sounds like you’re asking for the game to be rigged in favor of the GOP. You can bet that the GOP will attack Obama on his record. I see nothing wrong with him attacking back using his record.
In theory, it would be nice if our campaigns were free of the negative attacks. Then again, in theory, it would be great if politicians actually told the truth all the time too. In this particular case, I see the GOP crying foul just as the Democrats did when Republicans ran on 9/11 as a background to national security in 2004.

Greenwald further exposes the sickness———————–
“After years of being mocked by the Right as Terrorist-coddling weaklings, Obama — strutting around touting his own strength — lets them feel strong and powerful in exactly the way that Bush and Cheney’s swaggering let conservatives prance around as tough-guy, play-acting warriors. Rather than ignore this aggression, Democratic think tanks point with beaming pride to the corpses piled up by the Democratic Commander-in-Chief to argue that he’s been such a resounding foreign policy “success,” while Democratic pundits celebrate and defend the political value of his majestic kills.
.
Yesterday on his MSNBC morning show, Chris Hayes conducted an excellent, two-part discussion of Obama’s escalated civilian-killing drone attacks, with a heavy emphasis on the innocent people, including numerous children, who have been killed. He showed a harrowing video clip of a Yemeni man’s anguish as he described the pregnant women and children killed by Obama’s 2009 cluster bomb strike; featured the U.S. drone killing of 16-year-old American citizen Abdulrahman Awlaki in Yemen; and interviewed human rights lawyer Clive Stafford Smith, who described the 16-year-old Pakistani boy he met at a meeting to discuss civilian drone deaths and who, a mere 3 days later, had his own life ended by an American drone.

Romney wouldn’t have gone after OBL?
Hell, even the king of loser lib ilk presidents, Jimmy Carter, would have made that same call.
Even you, Jay, would have.
I like to think I would have too, Sinkwich. But let’s remember that Robert Gates — no one’s idea of a pacifist Defense Sec — argued against the operation, wanting to simply bomb the compound to lessen the risk. Biden agreed with Gates. Obama overruled them, which the experienced Gates called “one of the most courageous calls – decisions — that I think I’ve ever seen a president make.”
So no, I don’t think we can assume that other presidents would have made the same call. The claim by Romney given his remarks on the subject are akin to his claims that he too would have rescued GM, a claim that he did not make during the primaries.

When piles of carefully researched books, released government documents, and testimony of eye witnesses made it clear that Oswald was not President John F. Kennedy’s assassin, the voluminous research, government documents, and verified testimony was dismissed as “conspiracy theory.”
In other words, the truth of the event was unacceptable to the authorities and to the Ministry of Propaganda that represents the interests of authorities.
The purest example of how Americans are shielded from truth is the media’s (including many Internet sites’) response to the large number of professionals who find the official explanation of September 11, 2001, inconsistent with everything they, as experts, know about physics, chemistry, structural engineering, architecture, fires, structural damage, the piloting of airplanes, the security procedures of the United States, NORAD’s capabilities, air traffic control, airport security, and other matters. These experts, numbering in the thousands, have been shouted down by know-nothings in the media who brand the experts as “conspiracy theorists.”
This despite the fact that the official explanation endorsed by the official media is the most extravagant conspiracy theory in human history.
Let’s take a minute to re-acquaint ourselves with the official explanation, which is not regarded as a conspiracy theory despite the fact that it comprises an amazing conspiracy. The official truth is that a handful of young Muslim Arabs who could not fly airplanes, mainly Saudi Arabians who came neither from Iraq nor from Afghanistan, outwitted not only the CIA and the FBI, but also all 16 US intelligence agencies and all intelligence agencies of US allies including Israel’s Mossad, which is believed to have penetrated every terrorist organization and which carries out assassinations of those whom Mossad marks as terrorists.
In addition to outwitting every intelligence agency of the United States and its allies, the handful of young Saudi Arabians outwitted the National Security Council, the State Department, NORAD, airport security four times in the same hour on the same morning, air traffic control, caused the US Air Force to be unable to launch interceptor aircraft, and caused three well-built steel-structured buildings, including one not hit by an airplane, to fail suddenly in a few seconds as a result of limited structural damage and small, short-lived, low-temperature fires that burned on a few floors.

The American attention span is about 24 hours now. They become saturated and then they become bored. In the mean time they form other opinions based upon other things like our economy, jobs and our debt. You know, those things that you liberals want the American public to totally ignore and don’t want acknowledge that Obama has been a total failure in.

Most Democratic praise for “Obama’s foreign policy successes” fails even to acknowledge, let alone condemn, the thousands of innocent people whose lives have been extinguished by his militarism. These deaths simply do not exist in their world. When you force them to address it, they’ll simply dismiss it away with the military terminology first popularized by Timothy McVeigh (that’s just “collateral damage”) and then quickly return to the Bush-era mantra of mindlessly invoking the word “Terrorism” to justify whatever violence the U.S. Government commits. They see themselves, and especially their leader, as so righteous and noble that incidents like this and this and so many others are blissfully kept far away from their consciousness because the reality of what they support cannot be reconciled with their self-perception; that, more than anything, is what explains the bitterness directed at Hayes yesterday: he publicized facts which they desperately prefer be hidden, not just from others but from themselves.

Anyone who would accept a position in the O’bozo administration is a Marxist (see Jarrett, that green jobs czar, etc.) or a pathetic RINO in need of a paycheck.

It would never harm it's own citizens, even to start wars which benefit the Military Industrial Complex and enact laws that severely restrict Constitutional rights.] When they are presented with evidence that works against that belief, the new evidence cannot be accepted. It would create a feeling that is extremely uncomfortable, called cognitive dissonance. The Saudi terrorists were even able to confound the laws of physics and cause WTC building seven to collapse at free fall speed for several seconds, a physical impossibility in the absence of explosives used in controlled demolition.
The story that the government and the media have told us amounts to a gigantic conspiracy, really a script for a James Bond film. Yet, anyone who doubts this improbable conspiracy theory is defined into irrelevance by the obedient media.
Anyone who believes an architect, structural engineer, or demolition expert who says that the videos show that the buildings are blowing up, not falling down, anyone who believes a Ph.D. physicist who says that the official explanation is inconsistent with known laws of physics, anyone who believes expert pilots who testify that non-pilots or poorly-qualified pilots cannot fly airplanes in such maneuvers, anyone who believes the 100 or more first responders who testify that they not only heard explosions in the towers but personally experienced explosions, anyone who believes University of Copenhagen nano-chemist Niels Harrit who reports finding unreacted nano-thermite in dust samples from the WTC towers, anyone who is convinced by experts instead of by propaganda is dismissed as a kook.
In America today, and increasingly throughout the Western world, actual facts and true explanations have been relegated to the realm of kookiness. Only people who believe lies are socially approved and accepted as patriotic citizens.
Indeed, a writer or newscaster is not even permitted to report the findings of 9/11 skeptics. In other words, simply to report Professor Harrit’s findings now means that you endorse them or agree with them. Everyone in the US print and TV media knows that he/she will be instantly fired if they report Harrit’s findings, even with a laugh. Thus, although Harrit has reported his findings on European television and has lectured widely on his findings in Canadian universities, the fact that he and the international scientific research team that he led found unreacted nano-thermite in the WTC dust and have offered samples to other scientists to examine has to my knowledge never been reported in the American media.

Paul said the U.S. government should have worked with the Pakistani government, respecting borders, to get at Osama bin Laden. He pointed to other terror suspects who were captured and tried. Paul pointed to the arrest of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, widely accepted as the 9/11 mastermind, by Pakistani authorities. Mohammed now sits at Guantanamo Bay awaiting trial by a military tribunal.

The Usama bin Laden capture will only take Hussein Obama so far – in the face of high taxes, high unemployment, high gas price$, ridiculous regulation, an anti-Life agenda and a contempt for Judeo-Christian traditions. The bedrock principles have been eroded under this so-called administration over these past three-plus years and Real America caught on pretty much out of the gate. History has shown that this anti-colonialist attitude, pro-socialistic viewpoint fails. This is why the honorable Governor Willard “Mitt” Romney will triumph over this callous evil that has infected this once-free nation’s precious soil.
WE THE PEOPLE (Tea Party Republicans) KNOW that the best thing Hussein Obama did with the Usama bin Laden capture is that HE GOT OUT OF THE WAY. I say in earnest: Thank you Honorable President George Walker Bush for killing Usama bin Laden as well as his partner-in-crime, Saddam Hussein. Would President Romney take out an evil dictator? One year after Bin Laden’s death and over 10 years since 9/11, American citizens are still blindly allowing their civil liberties to be taken away one piece of legislation at a time. How much freedom are we willing to sacrifice to feel safe? Under the guise of fighting terrorism, the Patriot Act was adopted WITHOUT public approval or vote just weeks after the twin towers fell. A mere 3 criminal charges of terrorism a year are attributed to this act, which is mainly used for no-knock raids leading to drug-related arrests without proper cause for search and seizure. The laws are simply a means to spy on our own citizens and to detain and torture dissidents without trial or a right to council. You can read much more about living in this Orwellian society of fear and see my visual response to these measures on my artist’s blog at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/09/living-in-society-of-fear-ten-years.html

Report: Bin Laden Already Dead
Published December 26, 2001 FoxNews.com
Usama bin Laden has died a peaceful death due to an untreated lung complication, the Pakistan Observer reported, citing a Taliban leader who allegedly attended the funeral of the Al Qaeda leader.
“The Coalition troops are engaged in a mad search operation but they would never be able to fulfill their cherished goal of getting Usama alive or dead,” the source said.
Bin Laden, according to the source, was suffering from a serious lung complication and succumbed to the disease in mid-December, in the vicinity of the Tora Bora mountains. The source claimed that bin Laden was laid to rest honorably in his last abode and his grave was made as per his Wahabi belief.

The above is very similar to what Jay does when he writes an anti-gun editorial.
He compares the number of people killed accidentally by guns vs. the number of “justifiable homicides” with guns but fails to include:
The number of perpetrators wounded by gun toters.
The number of perpetrators scared off by a miss.
The number of perpetrators scared off because they saw a gun.
The number of perpetrators scared off because they thought their proposed victim might have a gun.

From what I’ve read I’d say Edwards will be a guest of the State of North Carolina and Bubba for about 15 years. You can stick a fork in this guy or whatever else Bubba wants to stick in him. And there’s worse testimony to come. All this juicy stuff is going on and all we got to fuss about is killing this Obama bin Laden. The only question I have is how many more will go to jail with Edwards. There’s a bunch of rich people that paid for all his shenigans, and the couple testifying now used $1.5 million of the money to buy theirselfs a house. Good thing for one of the big-money donors that he died.

You would think that Bozo was in one of the Blackhawks and was personally going to deliver the fatal blow. The way the liberals tell it, he was certainly with his hand on the radios that were communicating with Seal Team six telling them to go this way or that on their way to the second floor.
Truth would have it, he was on the gold course. Yeah, the golf course. It took him about an hour and a half to make it to the situation room where he was dressed in something to hide his golf shirt and placed in the corner with a deer in the headlights look when the actual video was being run. You would think that he led the Seal team. I guess if this is your only accomplishment in 3 and one half years, except the Nobel Prize for peace, you have to toot your horn pretty loudly to see if you can make any impression on the voters. We’re smarter than that.

Joe Biden has the best line of the year: “…Bin Laden is dead and GM is alive.”
That fact will make Obama hard to defeat at the polls.
The US spent 10 years trying to kill bin Laden. Whether you like it or do not like it, Obama killed him.
Whether you like it or not like it, over one million people have a job today because GM is alive.

HA HA!!! Look at the libs trying to make Obozo into a Hawk!!! Leave it to today’s Democrat Party to try and make political hay out of an effort that they shamelessly despised and opposed for years. And Jay, I thought that this was “an American triumph, not a political triumph.”
As I noted last year:
It is quite humorous to watch the libs here fall over Obama for this military success. The FACT is that there is NO WAY this happens without the efforts of the Bush administration. Obama’s admin. deserves some credit for this, but to declare that Obama “carries a big stick” is laughable. When drawing conclusions on Obama’s foreign policy and military strengths/successes, one must consider all of his efforts and not one isolated success that was only possible because of a previous administration.
From the NYT:
A trusted courier of Osama bin Laden’s whom American spies had been hunting for years was finally located in a compound 35 miles north of the Pakistani capital, close to one of the hubs of American counterterrorism operations. The property was so secure, so large, that American officials guessed it was built to hide someone far more important than a mere courier…
As Obama administration officials described it, the real breakthrough came when they finally figured out the name and location of Bin Laden’s most trusted courier, whom the Qaeda chief appeared to rely on to maintain contacts with the outside world.
Detainees at the prison at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, had given the courier’s pseudonym to American interrogators and said that the man was a protégé of Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the confessed mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks.
American intelligence officials said Sunday night that they finally learned the courier’s real name four years ago, but that it took another two years for them to learn the general region where he operated…
And as the Fox News article that I linked to earlier implied, it appears that the courier’s real name came through “enhanced interrogation efforts.” So, Osama is dead as a result of the efforts at Gitmo–a placed despised by libs, which Obama promised to close–through enhanced interrogation–despised and condemned by libs, even to the point of threatening impeachment–yet the libs are celebrating and praising this military achievement? Oh well, speaking for the “cons:” YOU’RE WELCOME!

JamVet: So you consider these guys “inept chickenhawks?!”
Serving and former US Navy SEALs have slammed President Barack Obama for taking the credit for killing Osama bin Laden and accused him of using Special Forces operators as ‘ammunition’ for his re-election campaign.
The SEALs spoke out to MailOnline after the Obama campaign released an ad entitled ‘One Chance’.
…
Ryan Zinke, a former Commander in the US Navy who spent 23 years as a SEAL and led a SEAL Team 6 assault unit, said: ‘The decision was a no brainer. I applaud him for making it but I would not overly pat myself on the back for making the right call.
‘I think every president would have done the same. He is justified in saying it was his decision but the preparation, the sacrifice – it was a broader team effort.’
Mr Zinke, who is now a Republican state senator in Montana, added that MR Obama was exploiting bin Laden’s death for his re-election bid. ‘The President and his administration are positioning him as a war president using the SEALs as ammunition. It was predictable.’
Bottom line: Obozo is attempting to run on the ONE positive event of his pathetic presidency. The problem is, when closely examined, his self-congratulations ring hollow, and he looks ridiculous.

They are dead because Bush had the guts to go to war and our brave soldiers and intelligence agencies spent thousands up thousands of hours researching, gaining informants, and O, they had a little luck too.
We got lucky with Bin Laden..plain and simple. We had a couple of occasions were we apparently just missed killing him. I surely hope that any U.S. President with pretty decent intel would go after the biggest terrorist in the world. I’m glad Obama did; but its a stretch to say Romney would not have.

He can say he did and the people who really know what happened are inside the Pentagon, are in the military and the military isn’t allowed to speak out against the commander- in-chief so his secret is safe.”
Right. So this “former SEAL” somehow has this information that “Obama was not the man who made the call”? Oh really now. So who made the call if not the commander in chief? Who overruled him? In instances of self-defense, the President would be within his constitutional authority to act before advising Congress or seeking its consent. History has shown us time and again, however, that military action is most successful when it is authorized and supported by the Legislative branch. It is always preferable to have the informed consent of Congress prior to any military action.”

Mitt likes to tell tell his adoring minions that if they hate success, they should Vote for Obama. Got to admit that one hurts. After all as the black son of a poor single mother, Obama clearly had everything handed to him on a silver platter. What would a loser like Obama possibly know about becoming successful? It’s not like he ever had to deal with the stigma of being born the son of a millionaire governor. Mitt’s the living embodiment of the American dream. After all only in America could the impoverished son of a millionaire politician grow up to become the multi-millionaire president of the United States. Mission accomplished.

I can appreciate the difficulty the left has in trying to come up with somehing positive that has been accomplished the last three years by Obama or by his do nothing administration. The killing of bin Laden is something to talk about. As feeble as this very minor accomplishment is when you have nothing else, well it speaks for itself. It must be stomach turning for the radical left to have to brag about something that they would be the first to scream if a Republican had done the same thing. History shows other presidents did not do the same. FDR did not brag about killing Admiral Yamamoto. Trurman did not brag about the nucleur decision to bomb Japan. (A far greater decision than the killing of a minor player in the war on “over seas contingecies.} Eisenhower did not take credit for commanding the invasion of Europe and could have taken credit for the defeat of Nazi Germany with more credibility than the killing of bin Laden. Nixon did not take credit for ending the Viet Nam War, which he did. Reagan did not take credit for ending the “Cold War.” As John Mc Cain said last night, “Heros do not brag.” But then Obama has no accomplishments to cite for his three years in office.

Wrong again. I have given him credit for signing the executive order but his “promise” was that he was going to close Gitmo. His “promise” did not come with caveats comparable to “I will close it only if Congress gets on board”. To understand President Obama’s thinking regarding the issues of war and peace in our world, please read the following excerpt from his Nobel Peace Prize Speech, given in 2009. The link is given, below, to encourage readers to read that speech, in full.
===================================================
“I do not bring with me today a definitive solution to the problems of war. What I do know is that meeting these challenges will require the same vision, hard work, and persistence of those men and women who acted so boldly decades ago. And it will require us to think in new ways about the notions of just war and the imperatives of a just peace.
We must begin by acknowledging the hard truth that we will not eradicate violent conflict in our lifetimes. There will be times when nations – acting individually or in concert – will find the use of force not only necessary but morally justified.
I make this statement mindful of what Martin Luther King said in this same ceremony years ago – ‘Violence never brings permanent peace. It solves no social problem: it merely creates new and more complicated ones.’ As someone who stands here as a direct consequence of Dr. King’s life’s work, I am living testimony to the moral force of non-violence. I know there is nothing weak -nothing passive – nothing naïve – in the creed and lives of Gandhi and King.
But as a head of state sworn to protect and defend my nation, I cannot be guided by their examples alone. I face the world as it is, and cannot stand idle in the face of threats to the American people. For make no mistake: evil does exist in the world. A non-violent movement could not have halted Hitler’s armies. Negotiations cannot convince al Qaeda’s leaders to lay down their arms. To say that force is sometimes necessary is not a call to cynicism – it is a recognition of history; the imperfections of man and the limits of reason.”

(2) Obama never signed executive order to close said Gitmo.
(3) Obama never wanted to to try Gitmo prisoners in US civilian court

And now, please read the closing remarks that President Obama made in his Nobel Peace Prize Speech, in which he encourages forward thinking toward the ideal of non-violence and peace in the world’s future (which I envision as an evolution of humankind’s consciousness):
===================================================
“But we do not have to think that human nature is perfect for us to still believe that the human condition can be perfected. We do not have to live in an idealized world to still reach for those ideals that will make it a better place. The non-violence practiced by men like Gandhi and King may not have been practical or possible in every circumstance, but the love that they preached – their faith in human progress – must always be the North Star that guides us on our journey.
For if we lose that faith – if we dismiss it as silly or naïve; if we divorce it from the decisions that we make on issues of war and peace – then we lose what is best about humanity. We lose our sense of possibility. We lose our moral compass.
Like generations have before us, we must reject that future. As Dr. King said at this occasion so many years ago, ‘I refuse to accept despair as the final response to the ambiguities of history. I refuse to accept the idea that the ‘isness’ of man’s present nature makes him morally incapable of reaching up for the eternal ‘oughtness’ that forever confronts him.’
So let us reach for the world that ought to be – that spark of the divine that still stirs within each of our souls. Somewhere today, in the here and now, a soldier sees he’s outgunned but stands firm to keep the peace. Somewhere today, in this world, a young protestor awaits the brutality of her government, but has the courage to march on. Somewhere today, a mother facing punishing poverty still takes the time to teach her child, who believes that a cruel world still has a place for his dreams.
Let us live by their example. We can acknowledge that oppression will always be with us, and still strive for justice. We can admit the intractability of depravation, and still strive for dignity. We can understand that there will be war, and still strive for peace. We can do that – for that is the story of human progress; that is the hope of all the world; and at this moment of challenge, that must be our work here on Earth.”

The obama haters are very one dimensional and see what they want to see; The world economy was going to hell in a handbasket in sept. 2008, who do they blame about that? the president of course because he hasn’t “fixed” it in three years. In 2006, bush disbanded the cia unit that was tasked for locating bin laden – fact. He just didn’t care anymore, besides he was too busy trying to deal with his iraq fiasco. This president has done pretty darn good considering the cards he was dealt. Republicans are sore losermans and have worked every inch of the way to undermine obama. They have no plan, no solutions for america except to attack this president and thwart his every move. Hopefully, they and their ilk will be routed come november…

One thing we do know for certain is that Joe Biden wouldn’t have approved that mission. After several years of intelligence gathering and some that was gained through enhanced interrogation, which Obama would not have approved we have Obama shamelessly taking victory laps. He also infers that Romney would not have have given approval. The fact is Obama had no other choice and Panetta along with Hillary Clinton probably told him that the word would eventually leak out that they had hard intelligence and if he didn’t green light the operation he would be political toast. This is desperation on the part of a failing president and his supporters to divert attention from his failures.

The former head of the CIA’s Clandestine Service Jose Rodriguez says President Obama is waging the nation’s war against radical Islam in a far more brutal manner than his predecessor President George W. Bush.
RELATED: Human Rights Watch: Prosecute Bush for Torture
“We don’t capture anybody any more,” Rodriguez told 60 Minutes’ Lesley Stahl on Sunday. “Their default option of this Administration has been to … take no prisoners … How could it be more ethical to kill people rather than capture them? I never understood that one.”

Why is the good ole USA having a hard time “developing” strong presidents? Can we have a civil discussion on this? With a few exceptions (Reagan, Clinton) most modern-day presidents have been deemed “un-popular failures” like BushII & Carter. Possible reasons:
(1) Politics are more heated/divided? Not sure about this one. Even though there is alot of vitriol being spewed out by both sides we don’t see fist fights or duels.
(2) Human Nature to dislike/hate those that don’t agree with you. “Love your neighbor” & good samaritian thrown out like yesterday’s trash.
(3) Leadership “skills” are not being taught these days?
(4) …

While you, Obama, and countless other libs are dancing around the end zone the economy is getting worse and worse. The GDP is hovering around 2% which easily makes this the worst recovery from a recession in decades even though Obama and the dems spent trillions of dollars. Does this tripe even remotely affect the American people by trying to insinuate that Romney wouldn’t have pulled the trigger? HELL NO!!!!

Mary Elizabeth-A curious choice of words to describe Obama’s thinking.
New Obama slogan has long ties to Marxism, socialism
By Victor Morton
April 30, 2012, 06:56PM
Many Communist and radical publications and entities throughout the 19th and 20th centuries had the name “Forward!” or its foreign cognates. Wikipedia has an entire section called “Forward (generic name of socialist publications).”
“The name Forward carries a special meaning in socialist political terminology. It has been frequently used as a name for socialist, communist and other left-wing newspapers and publications,” the online encyclopedia explains.
The slogan “Forward!” reflected the conviction of European Marxists and radicals that their movements reflected the march of history, which would move forward past capitalism and into socialism and communism.

Milton Man-I agree. Our problem is we don’t have the choices. Four years ago the top two Democrats were Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama! Get serious. The Republican was even worse, John Mc Cain! Look at the prior choices. Bush 2, John Kerry, Al Gore. Remember Dukakis, Mc Govern, Mondale. I mean come on we couldn’t have elected a good president because we were never given a choice. Popularity means more than experience and competence. I don’t know what the solution is.

“Mary Elizabeth-A curious choice of words to describe Obama’s thinking.”
=================================================
For any reader who may not have been following my two posts this morning, here is what I wrote in my second post at 8:04 am, to which Mighty refers:
“And now, please read the closing remarks that President Obama made in his Nobel Peace Prize Speech, in which he encourages forward thinking toward the ideal of non-violence and peace in the world’s future (which I envision as an evolution of humankind’s consciousness).”
============================================
Mighty, I can truthfully tell you that I had no idea that the word “forward” was part of Obama’s campaign slogan for the upcoming election, nor was I aware the the word “forward” was associated in the minds of some with Marxism and Socialism.
The word, as I placed it in my above post, sprang purely from my own mind, alone. I wanted to use the word “forward” in the sense of “progressive,” which is the direction of spiritual and mental evolution of human beings, from my perspective.)
Btw, I have subscribed, for years, to a Biblical magazine of daily scripture verses, with short essays regarding the chosen scripture by various writers, published by “Forward Movement, an agency of the Episcopal Church” (words taken from the back of the cover page).
It is unfortunate that a writer, such as editorial writer Morton of the conservative Washington Times, has chosen to place further fear in the America public’s mind that President Obama is a “Marxist or Socialist” through his inflammatory editorial. I do not believe that President Obama is either a Marxist or a Socialist, based on Obama’s words, as he speaks for himself.
I believe that we should try to elevate others to see beyond labels such as “Marxist and Socialist,” in that labels, by definition, limit in our minds who another person is, relative to the totality of his or her complex thinking. Please read both my 7:53 am post, as well as my 8:04 am post. They both consist primarily of the words of President Obama, which he spoke in his Nobel Peace Prize Speech.
Again, I believe we should allow President Obama speak for himself, in terms of understanding who he is and what he is about in full. I think that anyone who reads his words, above, will see a vision of war and peace that most Americans – Republican, Democrats, Independents, Conservatives and Liberals – could support. I had chosen the two different posts to reflect Obama’s vision, both the world as it is, and of the world as it could be in time, a progressive or “forward” thinking vision of humankind’s spiritual and mental evolution.
It is unfortunate when a word as benign, yet as postive, as is the word, “forward,” can be made to have Machiavellian intent.

FYI the stock market hit a four year high today and the price of gas is coming down.Ford, GM, Chrysler, Caterpillar , Apple and a dozen other US companies have reported record earnings. Now as to your boy Bush and mad man “scattershhot” Cheney, they wimped out and took a potty break at Tora Bora . So they got Sadaam out of his hidy hole- Was he a terrorist?
