Thomas E. Mann of the Brookings Institution and Norman Ornstein of the American Enterprise Institute, two of the most respected non-partisan political analysts in Washington, go ahead and say it:
“We have been studying Washington politics and Congress for more than 40 years, and never have we seen them this dysfunctional. In our past writings, we have criticized both parties when we believed it was warranted. Today, however, we have no choice but to acknowledge that the core of the problem lies with the Republican Party.
The GOP has become an insurgent outlier in American politics. It is ideologically extreme; scornful of compromise; unmoved by conventional understanding of facts, evidence and science; and dismissive of the legitimacy of its political opposition.
When one party moves this far from the mainstream, it makes it nearly impossible for the political system to deal constructively with the country’s challenges.”
Yup. That sums it up nicely, I’m afraid.
And as they conclude, the situation is not going to change until the Republicans are forced to pay a very heavy price for their extremism at the polls, and that’s not likely to happen anytime soon. The result is a paralyzed system of governance at a critical time in this nation’s history.

From politico
Two moderate Democratic congressmen who voted against President Barack Obama’s health care bill lost in primaries this week. Pennsylvania Rep. Jason Altmire lost to Rep. Mark Critz, a fellow Democrat who was drawn into the same southwestern Pennsylvania district. Across the state, veteran Democratic Rep. Tim Holden lost renomination in a seat that had been dramatically redrawn.
By purging moderates are Democrats undermining their claim to be a broad, “big tent” party? Or will a “purer” liberal approach help present a starker contrast against Republicans?

If you’re talking about Jennifer Rubin’s piece on a Right-leaning blog, I read that one too. I’d wager that the one Jay referenced is a bit less partisaned in opinion than the one you linked to. Blue Dogs peaked in 2010. When did the moderate Republicans peak… 1980? 1990?

Of course it was the democrats who passed the most liberal health care takeover bill they could buy, bribe and lie their way through a Christmas Eve session of a lame duck congress without regard to the wishes of the people. Of course it was the democrats who passed the misbegotten, shovel ready stimulus. TARP 1, passed by a bipartisan majority, made money for the country while Obama’s stimulus was a giant trillion dollar sop to democrat special interests. Of course it is the Democrats who are busy with class warfare chosing to divide rather than unite. Of course its Obama who ran up more dificits in less time than any other president ever. Of course it’s the democrats who have now created an apparently endless structural deficit of 1.4 trillion a year. Obama is the most diviisive, most partisan president in my lifetime.

They will change how America governs itself. More routing around Congressional approval, executive power will become used more and if ,and I believe he will, Obama is elected to a second term he will have the Supreme Court in his pocket to protect what he does. A democratic government is an equation. More on one side of this equation will cause more on the other to equal the impasse and to run the government. The Tea Party and ALEC have an ingenious plan. Freeze federal government, infiltrate into the state government, and push state right at a level where money speaks. A dictatorship is formed at the corrupt grassroots levels and we now have the banana republic the Republicans crave so deeply. There will come a face off at some crossroad in the future. I even see with the gun crazy violate right a possible civil war. And if the right wins that war? A small government with lots of laws, no Sunday sales, large prison populations, lots of expensive wars to exhaust our treasury, women and minorities second tier citizens again, and very dull people holding down our lives.

Back during Obama’s first couple of years in office, before it became apparent just how ineffective his policies have been — there were many opinion pieces in the liberal media playing up how Obama was the most effective president since at least Lyndon B. Johnson in getting his domestic agenda passed. In the time since it’s become increasingly clear that almost none of Obama’s polices have delivered anything near what was promised — we’re told the problem is the extreme Republicans and their unwillingness to ever compromise, implication being that the Republicans have stopped the more *reasonable* Obama and Democrats from making progress for the country.

Catching up on my Jay’s Blog reading when I inadvertently came across this hidden in one of the videos that Jay posted. Being uber inquisitive, some say nosey, I had to find out what it was about and found the below drivel:
Dreams From My REAL Father………..
To understand Obama’s plans for America, the question was not “Where’s the birth certificate?,” the question was “Who is the real father?
This complicates things on a number of different levels. First of all if instead of being the son of a Kenyan sheepherder he’s the son of an American Communist, he is a natural born citizen, so much for the birther theories, since as the offspring of two American citizens he would in fact be a citizen. He would also qualify as a pink diaper baby, the name given to kids were born into relatively comfortable communist families. It would mean that if the birth certificate Obama presented to the public year ago is real, his mother was less than honest when she gave the hospital the information about her son’s father
I just hopes Mrs. Obama sues their azzes in behalf of her daughters.

EDITORIAL: “Obama embraces Islam”
“No matter what the source of the delusion, no political movement that exalts the Koran can peaceably coexist with the concept of freedom at the root of Western governance. Islamist notions of democracy are constrained by the strictures of their religion. Radical Muslims reject the humanistic values that gave birth to modern Western government; the self-evident truths regarding everyone’s inalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are just so much infidel heresy to the Islamists. There are no inalienable rights under political Islam, only submission to the will of Allah.”

The two institutions you mention are moderate, but the two authors are not. One of them considers himself “centrist,” which doesn’t mean much. His bio says he’s close friends with Al Franken. That says it all. The other author has done work for two different democrats, a senator and a representative. I guess mentioning that would give the reader too much information on the sources of the original article.

Bergen writes that they argued that the evidence of bin Laden’s presence was circumstantial, the mission was too dangerous and relations with Pakistan would be destroyed.”

I think it’s time we gave the fuddyduddy a chance..the hip cool dude’s not doing any good
I would agree with you on that i the hip cool dude actually had a fair shot at doing ANYTHING. My problem with giving the GOP control again has nothing to do with 2000 – 2008. My problem with the current GOP is that they have behaved like little spoiled b*tches since they gained control of the House. It’s one thing to make your party platform one that would make the current POTUS a one-termer. It’s completely something different when you risk ruining the country to see that happen.
Obama’s goose was cooked from the day after the election in 2010. How many administrations have gone into their 4th year missing as many appointees as this current one? Part of the blame goes to Obama himself for not being more forceful in pushing for confirmations. However, I put more blame on the GOP in damn near blocking anything that Obama tries to do.
You can not run anything effectively if you don’t have people in place to perform the basic jobs necessary. You can’t play a World Series game with 5 players on defense and expect to win or even halfway function. The Democratic Party did some of the same stuff to Bush. However, when it came to things that helped the country as a whole, the Democratic Party put the partisaned bullsh*t aside and worked with Bush to get things passed. You can’t say the same thing has happened in the past 2 years. My question would be, why would you reward the GOP with anything when they have not shown that they can put country over party?

This did not happen in a vaccum. It has required two things to happen:
1. The Republicans had to sell themselves to Big Business. By catering strictly to the needs of it’s corporate masters, it natuarly appears to be extreme, scornful of compromise, etc.
2. The core Republican electorate had to dumb down to their current state of credulity whereby they believe whatever their politicians tell them, no matter how obvious a lie it is to the rest of us.
Unfortunately, since Republicans don’t seem to be getting any smarter, an improvement in the situation is definitely “not likely to happen anytime soon”.

Bro @ 4:17 – Here’s something that gives the GOP obstructionism a whole new light….
revelations about a private dinner of House Republicans on inauguration day in 2009 in which they plotted a campaign of obstruction against newly installed president Barack Obama.
During a lengthy discussion, the senior GOP members worked out a plan to repeatedly block Obama over the coming four years to try to ensure he would not be re-elected.
The disclosures – described as “appalling and sad” by Obama’s chief strategist David Axelrod – undermine Republican claims that the president alone is to blame for the partisan deadlock in Washington.
A detailed account of who was present at the dinner on that January 20 night and the plan they worked out to bring down Obama is provided by Robert Draper in ‘Do Not Ask What Good We Do: Inside the US House of Representatives’, published this week.
In his book, Draper opens with the heady atmosphere in Washington on the days running up to the inauguration and the day itself, which attracted 1.8 million to the mall to witness Obama being sworn in as America’s first black president.
Those numbers contributed to a growing sense of unease among Republicans as much the defeat in the White House race the previous November. The 15 Republicans were in a sombre mood as they gathered at the Caucus Room in Washington, an upscale restaurant where a New York strip steak costs $51.
Attending the dinner were House members Eric Cantor, Jeb Hensarling, Pete Hoekstra, Dan Lungren, Kevin McCarthy, Paul Ryan and Pete Sessions. From the Senate were Tom Coburn, Bob Corker, Jim DeMint, John Ensign and Jon Kyl. Others present were former House Speaker and future – and failed – presidential candidate Newt Gingrich and the Republican strategist Frank Luntz, who organised the dinner and sent out the invitations.
“If you act like you’re the minority, you’re going to stay in the minority,” said Keven McCarthy, quoted by Draper. “We’ve gotta challenge them on every single bill and challenge them on every single campaign.”
The Republicans have done that, bringing Washington to a near standstill several times during Obama’s first term over debt and other issues.
On the more immediate future, they discussed targets such as Charlie Rangel, chairman of the House ways and means committee, who Gingrich said was vulnerable over his personal taxes. They would also target Treasury secretary Tim Geithner, demonstrate united and unyielding opposition to the president’s economic policies, and release negative ads against vulnerable Democratic members of Congress.
Draper quotes Gingrich at the end of the meal: “You will remember this day. You’ll remember this as the day the seeds of 2012 were sown.”
Axelrod, who is based at Obama’s re-election campaign headquarters in Chicago, condemned the revelation as “sad, appalling but not terribly surprising”.

This subject is like a kid in a candy store; where do you start?
The most important point is the stark contrast of what makes up the two parties. This contrast is why Republicans will triumph, not just this November but to eternity. And, why the current log jam that bothers Misters Mann and Ornstein was necessary but temporary.
Republicans are bound together by a common thread – conservatism. There are varying degrees of dedication and we have our causes, but none outweigh the core principle. Plus, we are traditionalists.
Democrats however are a party of special interest groups. Each special interest group puts their goal ahead of everything else. The Environmentalists put tree hugging at the top. Gays put their quest for rights at number one. Unions put theirs ahead of the previous two, plus often totally disagree with the others. Blacks can be in any of the previous groups, but their main concern appears to be a continuing perception of discrimination and inequality.
No, Democrats are not bound together by a single core principle. They are together because they have nowhere else to turn and by themselves are not large enough to bring about the change they desire.
All the groups within the Democratic Party eventually bump up against a roadblock but it’s not Republicans. We might hinder their progress, as we have and continue to do now with Obama in office, but in the end their nemesis is the Constitution. They can’t achieve their goals without tinkering with the Constitution. And, it has been shown time and time again most Americans don’t want their tinkering.

Really??
http://www.opensecrets.org/industries/index.php
8 out of 13 groups listed at that link have donated more to the GOP since 2011.
Here’s a list of the top industries contributing to members of the 112th Congress during the 2011-2012 election cycle. Out of those industries, 39 out of 50 gave more to Republicans than they did to Democrats. Also, 35 of the top 50 had a Republican as their single highest recipient.
Here are the top 25 GOP gifters. The total contributed by the top 25 runs in excess of $148.1 Million.
Here’s the top 25 Dem gifters. The total contributed by the top 25 is more than $125.6
Based on the contributions, one would be hard pressed to say that the Democratic Party is comprised more of special interest groups than the GOP. However, a person with a partisaned slant would have no problem at stating such non-factual stuff.

The system we have allows the minority party to obstruct the majority party especially in the Senate. It even allows one person whether it be a Senator or a President to obstruct everyone else by the use of the filibuster or the veto. But if you blame the Democrats or Republicans for being obstructionist remember if we had a parliamentary government the Republicans would be in complete control after the 2010 elections. The Democrats would have been in control after the 2006 election. With our system complete control is rare. The system was set up to make it very difficult for anyone to gain complete control.
Even the governments where there are multiple parties typically they form coalitions with parties on the same side of the spectrum. Rarely do the parties on the left and right have to cooperate.
Not only does the veto and the filibuster impede control but the three separate branches of government impedes control also. You need to win the Presidency, House and 60 people in the Senate and have a Supreme Court which agrees with you.
As far as the Republicans paying heavily in the poles, I thought they did in 2008. The Democrats had 60 votes in the Senate, the House and the Presidency but they lost it.
The only constant in politics is change. The leading party in Canada is now the conservative party and the liberal government party which was the prime party for years in Canada is now a third party.

I’m not sure that the hyper-intolerant neocons are even in the stadium anymore.
McCarthyism is still VERY strong in the Republican Party! Is that not right out of science fiction?
And other than the USA, only one country in the entire industrialized world has a lower percentage of people who believe in evolution. THAT is the staggering level of insanity, intransigence and intentional ignorance in the GOP.

You know you really need to calm down but that said I see that you view history from the prism of today and not from the time in which it happened.
In other words, flaws and all our founding fathers were able to set up a system of government unparalleled in the history of the world …….. one that in time was structured to grant freedom to all men and women and get us to where we are today ……… the envy of the world.
By the way, I assume you were aware of this:
“Slavery was officially established in Virginia in 1654, when Anthony Johnson (a black man) convinced a court that his servant (also a black man), John Casor, was his for life. Johnson himself had been brought to Virginia some years earlier as an indentured servant (a contracted person who must work from five to seven years for no wages in exchange for food and shelter before being freed) but he had saved enough money to buy out the remainder of his contract and that of his wife.
The court ruling in Johnson’s favor resulted in Casor becoming the first state-recognized slave in Virginia.”

Once the Socialist Communists are gone things will be well. When the regressive party is stopped from implementing the failed polices of Marx, Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Castro, Pelosi, Reid and Obama, we will get the government out of free enterprise and again move this country forward into the twenty first century. The democrat party has become the vehicle to destroy everything America has ever stood for. Personal responsibility and personal initiative, the backbone America was built upon, is now declared evil by the marxist obama. The liberal mindset seeks total control over every facet of our lives. After all, the do-gooder, holier-than-thou mindset always knows better for the people than they do for themselves.
I about gagged when I read the idiotic statement that the republican party has gone way off the mainstream. The liberal mindset has embraced a marxist agenda where the government controls everything. All for our own good of course. Government cannot be too big under democrat leadership. The Gadsden flag, Don’t Tread On Me, needs to be flown again in every state’s capitol. America became great through individual achievement, not through a nanny state of entitlements and handouts.

That is the most ridiculous statement I have ever read,”the core of the problem lies with the republican party”?
The republican party has tried without success to keep a balance of power between the Judicial, exectutive and legislative. President Obama has taken so much power that it is hard to determine where to start. Health care, the law before the Supreme Court as we speak, President Obama has as much as said that the Supreme Court voting against his health care proposal would be unamerican.
I just heard on the tube, last night was joke night at a whitehouse get together, the jokes were not funny.

What happened? Of course, there were larger forces at work beyond the realignment of the South. They included the mobilization of social conservatives after the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, the anti-tax movement launched in 1978 by California’s Proposition 13, the rise of conservative talk radio after a congressional pay raise in 1989, and the emergence of Fox News and right-wing blogs. But the real move to the bedrock right starts with two names: Newt Gingrich and Grover Norquist.
Right wing blogs?
As I’ve never ventured outside of the AJC’s forums, I have to wonder if they too are crawling with little more than veracity challenged, slogan slinging, staggeringly unread and intentionally uninformed, p*ss poorly written and almost always enraged fake conservatives.
Does anyone have any experience with these other right wing blogs? And are the Republican bloggers there as abysmal as ours?

Eric Fehrnstrom: Auto Bailout Was Mitt Romney’s Idea
Top Mitt Romney adviser Eric Fehrnstrom claimed that President Obama’s auto bailout was the GOP presidential hopeful’s idea.
Fehrnstrom said Obama followed Romney’s course to help the auto industry during an appearance at a Saturday roundtable discussion hosted by the The Washington Post.
“His position on the bailout was exactly what President Obama followed,” Fehrnstrom said. “He said, ‘If you want to save the auto industry, just don’t write them a check. That will seal their doom. What they need to do is go through a managed bankruptcy process.’”
“The only economic success that President Obama has had is because he followed Mitt Romney’s advice,” Fehrnstrom added.

I read all kinds of blogs. I think it’s quite pathetic that about 75% of the time, ANY blog topic on any blog becomes a left/right shouting match about Obama, Bush, or both. The same kinds of things posted here from all across the political spectrum can be found on other blogs. The thing that appears to be missing most is a common sense, pragmatic approach to solving things. Nowadays, it’s far too fashionable to be a loud-mouthed, obnoxious a$$hole instead of talking like a normal human would.

My response to JamVet was in response to his question. He didn’t ask about publications, he asked about blogs. If you really wanna know, I read all kinds of publications as well. I go through news sources such as ABC, Fox, CNN. I also go through Bloomberg, Yahoo, Reuters, WaPo, and my hometown paper. For other hobbies and interests, I go through many firearm sites, model railroad sites, r/c cars and planes, DIY-type home improvement sites, and others as well.
I usually read the blogs just to get a gauge of public opinion on things. There’s also the laugh factor as one can go to any blog and see almost the same cast of characters regardless to where the blog’s located and what the topic is related to.

I find it utterly amazing that the liberal mindset just cannot get outside its name calling and intimidation tactics. Every one of my posts on here addresses observations that are factual. Yet, at least three replies all accuse me of hate. Quite ironic that the venom of liberal thinking, i.e. holier-than-thou moral superiority, points four fingers back at itself when it points the one at others who disagree.
Since when is accurately pointing out that this nation is headed into a marxist/socialist ditch hate? Since when is pointing out that America was build upon self reliance, self initiative and personal responsibility hate? Since when is accurately pointing out that the welfare/entitlement mindset is killing our country hate? Big Government has never been, and never will be, the answer to poverty, injustice, etc. It only becomes a framework for more control and oppression of the masses. Name me one, ONE, nation that has prospered under the hand of marxism. This nation was born under the determination of a handful of patriots to live free from the restraints of over reaching government. Most did not want to break free from the comforts of English control. Read your history.
I also find it quite amazing that the uniformed liberal mindset continually equates conservative, republican, etc. with some form of Christianity. They are two different realms, and one has nothing to do with the other. I am no republican. But that is neither here nor there. The point is, under the guise of being open minded, the liberal mindset has become the most dangerous of all mindsets because it actually considers itself morally superior. Thus, any name calling, any intimidation tactic, is justified for the greater good.
The liberal mindset clings to its concepts of marxism/socialism/communism because it seeks the utopian vison of peace on earth, good will towards all men. It cannot accept the flawed character of the human nature, most of all, its own. Mankind is incapable of achieving any utopia at all. How many thousands of years has man been upon the earth? And right now at this point in history, there is more war, more violence, more depravity, than any time before it. A change of nature, a change out of the flawed human mindset is the only answer. Yet, by and large, with a few exceptions here and there, the liberal mindset rejects as foolishness the concept of the grace of God to mend and fix a depraved nature. Reject the means of change, and you reject change. So, year after year, decade after decade, century after century, the liberal mindset continues to pursue its impossible dream.
How is all this “religion stuff” tied into what I began with? The root of true change lies in the personal responsibility of each individual. Taking responsibility for our own lives and our own actions is the beginning of the path to enlightenment. The marxist mindset trying to get a toehold here in America as it has in Europe, denies personal initiative and responsibility. Indeed, it loathes it as a barrier to its control of the masses. When government, any government, controls our lives, something vital in the human makeup is suppressed and prevented from finding the true light that enlightens every man.

Republicans know evolution exists.
In relatively absurdly small numbers, but don’t let that fact dissuade you, oh great reader…
The neocons believe in evolution in a smaller percentage than even that the people of Turkey.
That is how assbackwards you fake conservatives are.
Remember Tom Tancredo, Sam Brownback and Mike Huckabee on that national stage? And your beloved party is not remotely embarrassed by that jaw dropping exposition of sheer foolishness.
Incredible.
Even the non-insane republicans like Huntsman and Romney are now calling the GOP the “anti-science party”. But for every one of them, there are ten Rick Perrys, Michelle Bachmans and Herman Cains.
Scientists accept evolution as the best and only theory that accurately explains how humans and other species came to be so diverse.
A 2007 poll found that a whopping 68 percent of Republicans did not believe in evolution.
A 2010 survey found a majority of Republicans, as opposed to much smaller percentages of Independents and Democrats, believing that humans were created in their present form about 10,000 years ago.
74% of people with post-graduate degrees believe in “evolution,” as do: 48% of college graduates 50% of adults with some college 41% of adults with high school or less.
The results of a 2011 poll about the belief in evolution may hold some frightening implications for this country’s future, namely that only 8% of people identifying themselves as Republicans believe that evolution was a thoroughly natural process, free from the influence of God.
No wonder that the United States is falling so dramatically behind other nations in relation to performance in the sciences, huh cons?

Oscar, I wish it was.
It can be found in the VCU Life Sciences Survey 2010.
We are dealing with programmed (primarily) Republican fools who SO hate academia and all things liberal that they are performing self-administered scientific lobotomies.
In 1981 the state of Arkansas passed a law, Act 590, mandating that “creation science” be given equal time in public schools with evolution, and defining creation science as positing the “creation of the universe, energy, and life from nothing,” as well as explaining the earth’s geology by “the occurrence of a worldwide flood”.[90] This was ruled unconstitutional at McLean v. Arkansas in January 1982 as the creationists’ methods were not scientific but took the literal wording of the Book of Genesis and attempted to find scientific support for it.[90] Undaunted, Louisiana introduced similar legislation that year. A series of judgments and appeals led to the 1987 Supreme Court ruling in Edwards v. Aguillard that it too violated the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment
“Nearly a third of Texans believe humans and dinosaurs roamed the earth at the same time, and more than half disagree with the theory that humans developed from earlier species of animals…”
Protestants are much less likely than all adults to believe in Darwin’s theory of evolution (32%)
More Americans Believe in the Devil, Hell and Angels than in Darwin’s Theory of Evolution: Nearly 25% of Americans Believe They Were Once another Person.
And soon, nations like Iran and Saudi Arabiua will pass us by in terms of scientific knowledge being taught to our children.
And who, here in Georgia, can ever forget this “educational” blunder of the Nth degree?
This textbook contains material on evolution. Evolution is a theory, not a fact, regarding the origin of living things. This material should be approached with an open mind, studied carefully, and critically considered.

I always forget that when Democrats change the rules mid course or block any republican backed deal they are “standing up for Americans” but when Republicans do it they are “mean spirited and racist.” Good God, Jay, this president has run the country to ruin and you want to blame the republicans. Rightism – Actively working to defy logic and disavow the pursuit of knowledge or higher learning. Allowing others to subjugate your beliefs and values by simply repeating lies and hyperbole, and refusing to share details and/or facts to support the oft repeated lies and hyperbole. And steadfast belief that failed policies are to be hewed to until a success is achieved thus repeating a cycle of lunacy that degrades with each iteration, while refusing to acknowledge the facts and calling those who point out the cycles of failure heretics. In other words a textbook example of both delusional and institutionalized insanity… That is if you read textbooks not burn them.

Lol. Depends on which scientist you are talking to doesn’t it? When you reject the Creator, yeah, all you are left with is “theories”. I always find it interesting that when statements like the one above are made, the one making them never has as adequate, indeed, no answer at all, to this question:
If mankind evolved out of the primordial ooze, where did the ooze come from? Oh, life sprang from the tiny one celled animal? Where did it come from? LOL. Something never springs from nothing. It doesn’t matter how far you take it, the next question is always, “But where did that come from?” A passage of Scripture does come to mind:
Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures. Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

A retraction is in order.
I misstated one of the empirically proven facts that I listed earlier.
Of the thirty-two European countries and Japan in that 2006 study, only Turkish adults were less likely to accept the concept of evolution than American adults.
What a duo, huh?
And as for the Republicans and their scientific illiteracy?
I’m sure they compete nicely with the adults in Guinea, Egypt, Senegal, Iran, North Korea and Ethiopia on the question…
Jake, speaking of retractions, where are yours for those bald-faced lies that I re-posted at 10:54?

Rightwing Drool, 11:20,
Our debt now surpasses our GDP. Domestic growth in China is at 9%, Mexico at 4%….. the US is at 1.7%. Unemployment is at 8.2% if you believe the contrived numbers…… more 12-14% when add it all in. Millions are still out of work. Foreclosures are still at an all time high. More people on food stamps than ever before in our nation. Welfare spending under Bozo has increased 41% since he took office. More homes under water than ever before in our nation’s history. Your children’s and your grandchildren’s tax dollars have already been spent just to pay the interest on our debt.
I might remind you that when Bozo took office, he stated that if he did not have this economy under control during his first term, he does not deserve to be re-elected. Finally, he has said something that I agree with. Are you blind or do you just not care?

“Scientists accept evolution as the best and only theory that accurately explains how humans and other species came to be so diverse.”
Lol.
Depends on which scientist you are talking to doesn’t it?
No. Given that response, the joke is on you. You are scientifically illiterate on the matter .
…sufficient evidence exists in support of evolution to convince 99.85% of America’s earth and life scientists that the theory is valid. Evolution is the key unifying theory that unifies many different branches of science, from cosmology to biology.
http://www.religioustolerance.org/ev_proof.htm
Surveys were sent to the department head of 158 research university Biological Sciences departments asking:
“Regarding the issue of ‘Intelligent Design theory’ vs. current biological consensus on the mechanisms of evolution – is there a difference of professional opinion within your department that you feel could be accurately described as a scientific controversy? Yes/No”
From 158 queries, the author received 73 responses. 71 (97.3%) responded “no”, 1 responded “no, but…” (and his comment about why is on the site), and 1 responded “yes.”
The vast majority of the scientific community and academia supports evolutionary theory as the only explanation that can fully account for observations in the fields of biology, paleontology, molecular biology, genetics, anthropology, and others.
One 1987 estimate found that “700 scientists … (out of a total of 480,000 U.S. earth and life scientists) … give credence to creation-science”.
That is 0.15%.
An expert in the evolution-creationism controversy, professor and author Brian Alters, states that “99.9 percent of scientists accept evolution”. A 1991 Gallup poll of Americans found that about 5% of scientists (including those with training outside biology) identified themselves as creationists.
Additionally, the scientific community considers intelligent design, a neo-creationist offshoot, to be unscientific, pseudoscience, or junk science.
The U.S. National Academy of Sciences has stated that intelligent design “and other claims of supernatural intervention in the origin of life” are not science because they cannot be tested by experiment, do not generate any predictions, and propose no new hypotheses of their own.
In September 2005, 38 Nobel laureates issued a statement saying “Intelligent design is fundamentally unscientific; it cannot be tested as scientific theory because its central conclusion is based on belief in the intervention of a supernatural agent.”
In October 2005, a coalition representing more than 70,000 Australian scientists and science teachers issued a statement saying “intelligent design is not science” and calling on “all schools not to teach Intelligent Design (ID) as science, because it fails to qualify on every count as a scientific theory”.

Matti:
The problem with you post is that age old observation that man creates God in his own image. The Scriptures are quite clear on everything I posted. It reminds me of how the Pharisees covered their ears and rushed with one accord upon Stephen and stoned him to death for speaking the truth to them.
There is something deep in the human nature that will not, can not, accept the truth. If if does, it means the end of the self centered life. I have no animosity towards anyone open to the truth, regardless of their current state or mindset. It is those who not only reject the truth, but also encourage others to do the same, that incur reproach, not mine, but God’s.
It’s a shame all the Jerry Falwells, etc. (deceased, I know) and what is called the religious right, has so muddied the waters of coming to know Christ personally. Religion and relationship are two different things. Yes, we can know the Creator, and yes, we can express His mindset without being arrogant. It only seems that way to those who reject and hold in contempt the means of their own salvation.
The world, and America in particular, has reached a tipping point. Never has their been such division and strife. My posts about the liberal mindset are without malice towards individuals, per se. It’s just a plain fact that is now stands as the one channel for all the refuse of lies and deception that is being poured in the country at the present time.
I remember back in the late 70’s and 80’s when the religious right, the “moral majority” was at its zenith, IT was the primary threat to our country. That has been broken, and replaced with the liberal mindset which is just, no, more so, than its religious counterpart.
Name calling and intimidation with such phrases as bigot, racist, hater, etc. are just defense mechanisms for a fallen nature that resists being reconciled to its Creator. Get over the politics and look to your own soul.

Our debt now surpasses our GDP.
Our debt is a total that has been accumulated over the course of 200 plus years. The GDP is an amount that’s produced EVERY year. While the numbers are very similar, the actual amounts are worlds apart.
Domestic growth in China is at 9%, Mexico at 4%….. the US is at 1.7%.
The export of jobs and import of cheap sh*t that’s created by the US helps drive the domestic growth of those other two countries. The only reason Mexico’s percentage is lower than China is because Mexico’s already had their day in the sun.

The New Welfare Queen: Getting “Crazy” Checks
This one came with this quote from a blogger that when I read it I damn near fell out my chair in hysterical laughter!
As a young conservative, I made up my mind decades ago not to accept any government handouts, but to be self-sufficient in this life. That’s not hard to do in a country as great as America, where opportunity abounds.
In my opinion, if you’re not willing to make the same private personal pledge, then you’re part of the problem in America, and are sucking on the government teat, which hurts everyone. Liberals have no problem whatsoever taking money from their fellow man through government programs and handouts, and many of them don’t really need to do so – they just do because it’s available.
If more people would stop taking from Uncle Sam and start making do on their own, most of the entitlement overspending would be a moot point.
I read that and kept saying to myself, “Kid, don’t ever get laid off, (UI), too sick to work, (MEDICAID/DISABILITY), or old (MEDICARE)!
These people on these sites are Hill-LARRY-Yus! They remind me of the dumb kid in school who’d sit in the back of the room and every now and then say something really dumb so that the whole class would start laughing!!
Horrible thought!! That kid may be governor of a state right now!!! eg: Rick Perry, Real “Deal”!!

Mr. Benson,
The scriptures were written down, shared, edited, truncated, translated, reproduced, and distributed by MEN — many of whom had their own agendas for controlling populations, governments, individuals, and of course, wealth. Throughout the centuries, men have used these scriptures as the basis for all manner of evil deeds against each other. Any attempt to reason with me that cites “the Scriptures are quite clear” circumvents this reality and insults my intelligence. I attribute my ability to learn and reason to whatever great being designed and created me, and it would be an insult to my Creator to not use the gifts I received.
That being said, I happily indulge the reasoning of anyone who truly lives his beliefs. I’m a good listener, and don’t imagine that I already know everything. (Certainly, I do not!) However, I can count those people on one hand and still have fingers left over. The minute a Christian bears false witness, he or she loses all credibility to tell me anything.
But thanks for trying, I guess. Have a blessed day.

When Hitler and the Nazis came to power, a historian observed that “the gutter has come to power”.
Some years ago, the Republican Party decided to sell itself to Big Business and, because of this, became lackeys of the rich. They also decided to appeal to the lowest common denomator of their already common electorate. Finally, they started to wage an all out war on women, the middle-class and the poor. So, in the coming election, if the Tea Party Republicans keep or increase their numbers in the House and gain control of the Senate, WE TOO can say “the gutter has come to power”

Jam – This is an excerpt from the link that I provided earlier, (you REALLY need to read and/or listen to Tighty Righty blogs and radio shows — it’ll tell you how crazy they really are):
As I wrote last night, it is clear the Obama Justice Department is out of control, but we haven’t seen everything yet.
“I’m not being over the top here, I fear the Obama gang is setting themselves up to steal the elections if possible,” Fitton said. “The most problematic area here is the Justice Department.”
Project Vote and ACORN have not gone away, they’ve just been splintered and renamed. On top of still being in existence, even after Hannah Giles and James O’Keefe proved the group was willing to help with the sex trafficking of underage girls, the Obama Justice Department is working directly with these groups in an effort to steal the White House.
“The Justice Department isn’t being run by political appointees, it’s being run by outside activists,” Fitton said. “This attorney general is the most partisan hack we’ve had in office since Richard Nixon’s day.”
These same activists are pressuring states on their voter registration and voter I.D. laws and are working hand-in-hand with the Justice Department to sue those states.
Fitton also warned of Obama’s goals for amnesty and opposition to citizenship verification at the polls. Illegal immigrants voting in states that do not have voter I.D. laws or voter registration verification, is a serious problem.
“This is not about the Hispanic vote, this about the illegal alien vote. This is a serious threat to the integrity of our elections,” Fitton said.
Despite these facts, the Obama machine isn’t going to take November without a fight or accountability.
“If this administration thinks they’re going to sneak their way into office, we’re going to be there yelling at them, at least,” Fitton said.
I look at this article in one of two ways:
(A) They’re already making excuses as to why they lost the election and
(B) They know how to gin up fear better than Poe, Orson Welles and that freaky lady on that show, all in one!

Nice try but not really relevant. The massive amount of debt being added as a % of GDP is largely unprecedented. And the debt for the first 200 years was minimal.
“The export of jobs and import of cheap sh*t that’s created by the US helps drive the domestic growth of those other two countries.”
If you’re talking about outsourcing I got news for ya. That’s been going on for a long time. Nothing new except that lately its just the overriding excuse for economic failure under this president.
“The only reason Mexico’s percentage is lower than China is because Mexico’s already had their day in the sun.”
Mexico had their day in the sun? Exactly what the ehll is that supposed to mean in terms of economic growth.
Brocephus, once again you are edging dangerously close to the economic philosophy that we should go more into a protectionist stance to keep jobs here. We’ve been over this before and it is not a debatable point in terms of economics. The world is better off, much better off with free and fair trade. Protectionism in the name of stopping outsourcing would take us so far into depression its not even funny. Again. This is not a debateable point.

Just how much do you want the government to grow? It is already bigger than it has ever been and continues to grow out of proportion to the need to grow. I really do not think that any level headed American would want to abolish the TSA, the Postal Service, AmTrack, the Dept of Education. the FDA, the Dept of Energy or others that we need for obvious regulation procedures that make us safe and keep corporations honest. I just believe that most of these organizations, if not all of them, have grown out of proportion to what is needed. We need more efficiency in our government as well as prudent spending on our military. The Dept of Energy was organized under Carter to attempt to wean us off of fossil fuels and to use our energy more efficiently. Gas prices are presently at an all time high and we import more foreign oil than ever before, yet we spend over 23B/yr on this worthless bunch of bureaucrats keeping them in a job. This is what is so objectionable to the Tea Party and to me. Does it not bother you?

The problem is that we offshore 5 decent jobs and create 1 good paying job and 2 crappy paying jobs. After a while, the economy suffers from that. Regardless to who ended up winning that election in 2008, things would still be the same. People don’t have money now. People didn’t have money in the early 2000’s. When the easy credit disappeared, so did the consumption. If anybody wants to see GDP grow, then you have to put money into the hands of the people who will SPEND it and not those who will SAVE it. If the money isn’t circulating, then it’s not aiding the economy as much as it could.

Looks as if you hit a nerve with his one…I thought as much when I read this online at WAPO…and the response to it here simply underscores just how deep a hole we’ve dug ourselves and cognitive dissonance won’t allow us to climb out any time soon, if ever. The only solution to me is to get as much of the money out of the political process, including public financing of campaigns, strict limits on both the length of the campaign season and the amount of advertising allowed during that season – along with the price ‘the people’ have to pay for broadcast time and print media space. Sorta like negotiating healthcare rates. And, of course, we eliminate all campaign contributions to candidates…maybe then we can stop the legalized bribery that runs our ’system’ now and we’ll find out who the honest ones really are.

Demand is certainly part of the equation but hardly the end all be all. What we need is the successful supply side economics that propelled us to nearly 30 years of near continous economic growth and prosperity. What that entails is low marginal and capt gains tax rates, a smaller, leaner federal govt, less govt interference and spenidng as a % of the economy, and dramatically less regulation as in the BOOM years of Reagan. We were Keynesians when the economy stagnated under Nixon and Carter, supply siders when it flourished under Reagan, and now Keynesians as it flails under O. And the reality is that as the debt situation worsens the economy will worsen for a variety of reasons. It is the single biggest obstacle to economic growth. And I see absolutely no effort by the Dems to combat the debt monster. None.
And as for demand induced stimulus Japan tried it plenty of times- 10 times to be exact, during its lost decade. And it did not work then. And it will not work now. And you guys will continue to propose that something that does not work actually works despite the clear evidence that it does not.

Doom: Thomas Sowell nicknamed it that after their refusal to throw the book at the new black panthers in a clear cut case of voter intimidation.
Lies, thy enemy is TRUTH………….
It was clear from the beginning that this was not a case of voter intimidation against anyone who might vote for John McCain. As many observers noted on that day, no matter how badly those two New Black Panters were behaving (and the police were called and responded), it’s a HEAVILY DEMOCRATIC PRECINCT. , “You don’t typically intimidate your own voters.”
The charges against the New Black Panthers were downgraded by the Bush Department of Justice:
The decision not to file a criminal case occurred before Obama was even in office.
This means that the case was downgraded to a civil case 11 days before Obama was inaugurated, 26 days before Eric Holder became attorney general, and about nine months before Thomas Perez was confirmed as head of the Civil Rights Division.
http://prospect.org/voices/adam-serwer?month=07&year=2010&base_name=when_was_the_new_black_panther
###The Bush administration’s Justice Department — not the Obama administration — made the decision not to pursue criminal charges against members of the New Black Panther Party for alleged voter intimidation at a polling center in Philadelphia in 2008;
##### The Obama administration successfully obtained default judgment against Samir Shabazz, a member of the New Black Panther Party carrying a nightstick outside the Philadelphia polling center on Election Day 2008;
# ####The Bush administration DOJ chose not to pursue similar charges against members of the Minutemen, one of whom allegedly carried a weapon while harassing Hispanic voters in Arizona in 2006; (PS: Why no faux OUTRAGE over this?)
#####No voters have come forward to claim that they were intimidated from voting on account of the New Black Panthers standing outside the polling center in 2008
Abigail Thernstrom, a commission member and a senior fellow at the conservative Manhattan Institute, called it “small potatoes” and said conservatives should pursue more important issues against the Obama administration. The case, she pointed out, invokes a narrow and rarely used provision of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, which has been used successfully to prosecute only three times since its passage.
“If you want to criticize [Attorney General] Eric Holder, there are lots of grounds on which to criticize him,” she said. “Why waste your breath on this one?”
Thernstrom said that she did not find Adams’s testimony convincing and that the facts of the case raised doubts in her mind, noting that the Black Panthers were standing in front of a majority-black precinct that had voted overwhelmingly for Democrats in previous elections — not a prime spot for intimidating white voters

Wage stagnation is a myth. Wages may not have improved much but overall benefits including vacation time, personal days, sick days, perqs such as car allowances,401ks, life insurance, ever rising health insurance etc. means that overall benefits have been increasing.
Job creation overall has stagnated since the 60s under both Dem and R administrations. The reason I believe for that is because of the enormous advantage we held over the rest of the industrialized world for up to 2 decades after Europe and Japan were devastated in the wake of WW2. That head start began to significantly diminish in the late 60s and 70s. That and ever creeping govt over both R and D administrations I think puts us at a disadvantage moving forward.
And Brocephus quit worrying so much about outsourcing. As our dollar continues to fall and our country continues to move towards insolvency there will come a point, and its happening now, where it may in fact be cheaper for us to manufacture here and export more. Exports have been climbing since our dollar has been falling.

I disagree with you as to what we need. I don’t think either economic model used exclusively will help this country. When we were more of a closed economy and had greater influence over our own direction, then you might have a point. As all countries are interlocked when it comes to the economy, I think we need to quit trying to use what we think worked then and actually analyze how things move today and work from that. Obama’s tried both methods, and any failure could theoretically be tied to both economic models…..

The problem came when, having successfully pressed charges against Shabazz (i.e. Shabazz was found guilty) the Obama administration declined to press further charges against him. Because, you know, he was already convicted and sitting in jail.
Never mind the fact that the administration DID pursue a successful prosecution against Shabazz or that it was the *Bush* administration that chose not to press charges. And the especially interesting thing is that the Bush administration refused to press similar charges against the Minute Men in Arizona:
DOJ did not pursue allegations that Minutemen intimidated Hispanic voters with a gun in 2006. Perez testified that in 2006, the Justice Department “declined to bring any action for alleged voter intimidation” “when three well-known anti-immigrant advocates affiliated with the Minutemen, one of whom was carrying a gun, allegedly intimidated Latino voters at a polling place by approaching several persons, filming them, and advocating and printing voting materials in Spanish.” [U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, 5/14/10]
Anti-immigrant activist in 2006 case reportedly had “9mm Glock strapped to his side” at polling place. A November 8, 2006, Austin American-Statesman article reported (from the Nexis database): “In Arizona, Roy Warden, an anti-immigration activist with the Minutemen, and a handful of supporters staked out a Tucson precinct and questioned Hispanic voters at the polls to determine whether they spoke English.” The article continued:
Armed with a 9mm Glock automatic strapped to his side, Warden said he planned to photograph Hispanic voters entering polls in an effort to identify illegal immigrants and felons.
I believe what this all boils down to is a black man with a stick is frightening. Not pursuing charges against black men with sticks is showing racial bias. A white man with a gun, on the other hand, is doing the government a *favor*, see. Helping to monitor and control the situation. Why on earth would one pursue charges against this white man?

unfortunately I actually WENT to law school, so you “can’t play a player”. If, at the time of the incident, a white person standing in the line felt intimidated by the NBP, they, and this is important, DID NOT COME FORTH AND MAKE ANY CLAIMS OF INTIMIDATION.
before you have any perceived amount of injustice such as voter intimidation, you must have a voter come forth to SAY HE WAS INTIMIDATED.
Also, really quick, here’s another point, Shabazz was successfully prosecuted by Holder’s DOJ, BUSH’s DOJ did NOT prosecute the NBP. Again in case you missed it BUSH’s DOJ did NOT prosecute the NBP.

Avert your eyes, Republicans…
Today, thanks to the GOP, compromise has gone out the window in Washington. In the first two years of the Obama administration, nearly every presidential initiative met with vehement, rancorous and unanimous Republican opposition in the House and the Senate, followed by efforts to delegitimize the results and repeal the policies.
The filibuster, once relegated to a handful of major national issues in a given Congress, became a routine weapon of obstruction, applied even to widely supported bills or presidential nominations. And Republicans in the Senate have abused the confirmation process to block any and every nominee to posts such as the head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, solely to keep laws that were legitimately enacted from being implemented.
In the third and now fourth years of the Obama presidency, divided government has produced something closer to complete gridlock than we have ever seen in our time in Washington, with partisan divides even leading last year to America’s first credit downgrade.
On financial stabilization and economic recovery, on deficits and debt, on climate change and health-care reform, Republicans have been the force behind the widening ideological gaps and the strategic use of partisanship. In the presidential campaign and in Congress, GOP leaders have embraced fanciful policies on taxes and spending, kowtowing to their party’s most strident voices.

Getting ready to go but i just HAD to post this one for old Doomy Doom Doom. Earlier he was talking about voter fraud, and you know what? I actually found a instance of voter fraud!! And all those whining, poor, poor pitiful me excuses! Whatever happened to personal responsibility? See excerpt from article below:
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana’s top elections official could lose his job and his freedom after jurors convicted him of multiple voter fraud-related charges on Saturday, leaving in flux the fate of one of the state’s most powerful positions.
Secretary of State Charlie White, (R), has held on to his office for more than a year despite being accused of lying about his address on voter registration forms.
A Hamilton County jury found White guilty of six of seven felony charges, including false registration, voting in another precinct, submitting a false ballot, theft and two counts of perjury. He was acquitted on one fraud charge.
White expressed no outward emotion as the verdict was read, and later said outside the courtroom: “I’m disappointed for my family and the people who supported me.”
White and his attorneys said the fate of his elected post remains unknown and ultimately may have to be decided by the governor or state Supreme Court. “We will review our options,” he said.
White’s attorney, Carl Brizzi, said after the verdict he will ask the judge to consider reducing the charges to misdemeanors because his client has no criminal background while having a long record of public service.
The jury verdict came after a weeklong trial in which White, who had vigorously protested the charges in hearings before a state elections panel, presented no defense.
Prosecutors said he used his ex-wife’s address instead of a condo he had with his fiancée because he didn’t want to give up his $1,000-per-month Fishers Town Council salary after moving out of that district. He faced seven felony charges, including voter fraud, perjury and theft.
White, 42, has said the charges ignored a complicated personal life in which he was trying to raise his 10-year-old son, plan his second marriage and campaign for the statewide office he won that November. He said he stayed at his ex-wife’s house when he wasn’t on the road campaigning and did not live in the condo until after he remarried.
No sentencing date was set.
State law bars anyone convicted of a felony from remaining in office. It wasn’t immediately clear how quickly White could be replaced or who might succeed him.
A Marion County judge already has ruled that White should be replaced by Democrat Vop Osili, the man he defeated by about 300,000 votes in the November 2010 election, but that ruling is on hold pending an appeal.
But state law allows the governor — in the case, Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels — to appoint a successor.
White has resisted calls to resign from Democrats and Republicans, including Daniels.
Attorney Karen Celestino-Horseman, who watched the trial and spoke on behalf of Indiana Democrats following the verdict, said the party believes White’s conviction further affirms that Osili should be secretary of state.
“(White) has been convicted, but the judge has left it open for misdemeanor sentencing. That’s something that’s going to have to be examined,” she said.
During his closing arguments, special prosecutor Dan Sigler Jr. argued that White knew that he was committing voter fraud but did it anyway for political power.
“If we aren’t going to enforce election law against the secretary of state of Indiana, who are we going to enforce it against?” Sigler said.

You’re funny… You write “Wage stagnation is a myth.” Then you follow with the very next statement, “Wages may not have improved much” before trying to shift from wages to AND benefits. You can’t spend benefits in the grocery store. You can’t give QT a 401k as payment for gas.
Also, the claim that benefits are growing and better seems to lie in stark contrast with the continuous claim that public sector benefits need to be cut in order to match their private sector counterparts. At one point and time, the public sector had to add benefits to match the private sector. The public sector hasn’t changed much over the years, and now the benefits are better according to popular rhetoric. That would imply that private sector benefits are not growing and getting better. Things, such as 401k’s are left at the peril of the market. Health care costs are increasing just as premiums are increasing. This doesn’t even account for the increase in hiring people as independent contractors to avoid offering any benefits at all.
As to outsourcing, it’s too late to worry about it. I point it out simply as an example of short term thinking causing long term problems.
A closed economy? Excuse me but exactly when we were a closed economy?
When I say a closed economy, I’m referring to our actions having more impact and effect on market tendencies. Remember back when we could lower gas prices simply by decreasing demand which caused a surplus in supply? That’s what I”m referring to. Now, global supply and demand gives us less sway of things even within our own borders. I know we’ve been trading with people. Hell, my old agency used to actually make a profit for the country when it came to trade. Those days, however, are long gone.

Democrats are at the extreme end of left. Notice how desperate they are. They lie a lot and tell half truths spoken by others. Now they want to get rid of the word illegal and call anyone who uses it a racist or worse. Anyone that does that should be called un-loyal to all the citizens and Constitution. This is still a country of laws. People who break the law are illegal in actions and deeds. Democrats need to compromise to insure that all Americans are safe, secure, and our country is not given away to those who break our laws or those who would not hold officials accountable for the enforcement there of.

http://www.usnews.com/opinion/articles/2012/01/12/mitt-romneys-lies
As his briefly front-running campaign sunk in the polls under relentless punishment from Mitt Romney’s “super PAC” allies in the days before the Iowa caucuses, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich caused a brief stir by matter-of-factly telling a TV interviewer that Romney is a “liar.”
“Why are you saying he’s a liar?” his apparently shocked interlocutor pressed. The notion that Mitt Romney routinely makes statements lacking a factual basis should not come as a surprise to anyone who has followed the campaign. On the left, Paul Krugman has marveled that no other candidate has ever “lied so freely, with so little compunction.” On the right, The American Conservative’s Daniel Larison wondered about why he lies, concluding that the former Massachusetts governor is “so contemptuous of the people he tells lies to that he never thinks he will be found out.”

Africa is a country. In Libya, the Taliban reigns. Muslims are terrorists; most immigrants are criminal; all Occupy protesters are dirty. And women who feel sexually harassed — well, they shouldn’t make such a big deal about it.
Welcome to the wonderful world of the US Republicans. Or rather, to the twisted world of what they call their presidential campaigns. For months now, they’ve been traipsing around the country with their traveling circus, from one debate to the next, one scandal to another, putting themselves forward for what’s still the most powerful job in the world.
As it turns out, there are no limits to how far they will stoop….
…It’s horrifying because these eight so-called, would-be candidates are eagerly ruining not only their own reputations and that of their party, the party of Lincoln lore. Worse: They’re ruining the reputation of the United States.
They lie. They cheat. They exaggerate. They bluster. They say one idiotic, ignorant, outrageous thing after another. They’ve shown such stark lack of knowledge — political, economic, geographic, historical — that they make George W. Bush look like Einstein and even cause their fellow Republicans to cringe.
Or, if you want a more “Fair and Balanced” assessment…

Lies
There were too many to count.
No, Mr. Romney, the president did not go on an “apology tour.”
No, Mr. Perry, we do not have the highest corporate tax rate in the world — in fact, we have one of the lowest.
No, Mr. Johnson, our nation is not bankrupt .
No, Mr. Cain, the health care reform law would in no way, shape or form ration your cancer care .
It’s one thing to make grand rhetorical statements to try and get attention in a crowded race. It’s another thing to flat out lie to the American people.
So there you have it. Romney is a Democrat. So is Gingrich, Perry, Cain, Johnson, Paul, Bachmann, and anybody else that participated in the GOP presidential campaign this year. Halftrack, I think you have set the new, almost unattainable, bar for conservative values. Your country thanks you immensely.

I think we are in too precarious times economically to worry about idealogical arguments about “personal responsibility” or “taking home more of your own money”……We tried that from 2000-2008…and it ended badly…..so badly, in fact, that 2.2% growth and 8% unemployment looks absolutely STELLAR….!!!!!!
I think if we try risky and reckless tax schemes based on idealogical arguments, we will fail again…It’s pretty clear, actually….It could be written in the Bible as prophecy….and Socialism will be our only default…..
In over 200 years of American history, tax cuts have N-E-V-E-R reduced deficits….LOOK IT UP………….So you can have 4 more years of slow, steady, discliplined, Clinton-style growth…..Or you can have MAYBE some growth, followed by total economic collapse, worse than 2008…followed by French-style Socialism….

While he might talk about getting money out of politics, his actions utter contradict his words and that is putting it kindly. As is so often the case the Democrats make outrageous commens and the press gives them a pass when it come to actually examining their actions.
This president ran as a post partisan, post racial man who would offer us a “third way” besides the democrat/republican divide. What we got is a old school, traditionall hard core leftie who needs racial division to keep his base fired up and who has only failed, far left policy choices to offer. KANO, Nigeria – “An official with the Nigerian Red Cross says at least 16 people were killed in an attack on church services at a university campus in the country’s north.
Andronicus Adeyemo said there were also a number of people wounded, though the aid agency did not have an exact figure. He said officials canvassed local hospitals to get the figure.
The attack happened Sunday morning at Kano’s Bayero University. Police say gunmen attacked a Catholic Mass on the campus, using small explosives to draw worshippers out before shooting those who fled.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, though it mirrored others previously claimed by a radical Islamist sect known as Boko Haram. That group carried out a coordinated assault in Kano in January that killed at least 185 people.”

And we ALL came out the loser because of that…
You wingnuts aren’t even worth the time to argue with. Your boy W drove us into a ditch while you all stood by screaming HARDER… FASTER… and you all are here again screaming HARDER… FASTER… LETS DO IT AGAIN…
Until you morons can at least acknowledge your complicity in our economic situation you don’t have a SHRED of legitimacy (or dignity for that matter), we need fresh ideas, not more of mcsame and hewing to old, disproved theories created by old, outdated theorists is not how we get there.
Riddle me this idiots… If we are not to enact any protections against global warming because the rest of the world (China, India) won’t follow suit, why are we not to enact any protectionist provisions against outsourcing?
That was the first wingnut argument in the ever evolving world of wingnuttery excuses, before downright exclamation that the science was false. That’s how wingnuts roll see, first it’s “WMD’s”, then it’s “to spread democracy”, first it’s “because they won’t, even if we do” now it’s “because it’s not true”.
I for one am fine with the way things are going,I’ve been fine throughout W’s economy and recession and things are good for me and the family. I don’t see any reason to change anything and go back to “deficits don’t matter” and “spread democracy at the end of a rifle”.

Tea Party 2.0: Upgraded for 2012
April 30th, 2012
7:04 am
Washington (CNN) — While loud and raucous rallies are still a part of the tea party toolbox, the movement, which came to life over dissatisfaction with big government and anger over government bailouts and President Barack Obama’s health care reform, is evolving.
“After the 2010 elections, what was interesting, we moved to what I call Tea Party 2.0,” said Clyde Fabretti, a conservative activist affiliated with tea party groups in Florida such as the West Orlando Tea Party and the Central Florida Tea Party Council. “2.0 allows for … our ability to accomplish legislative initiatives, supporting various tea party candidates that adhere to the principles and values. And we have been hugely active.”
“But it isn’t the kind of activity that makes the press,” Fabretti continued. “I mean, when you put 5,000 people at an event, you know, everybody shows up with their cameras. You have 10 meetings with different legislators on [Capitol] Hill — nobody knows about it.”

So far, the law has failed to produce results: Not a single insurer is offering a policy under the new law.
“Nobody has even asked to be approved to sell across state lines,” Georgia Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens said. “We’re dumbfounded. We are absolutely dumbfounded.”
Imagine that another failed wingnut policy… and they’re “dumbfounded. absolutely dumbfounded”…

Indeed, the republican party may be the problem right now but thank goodness for that. You see what these two “non-partisans” fail to mention is that the main stream has left the reservation. In a society full of entitled people and demonized successful people, you’d be hard pressed to see the America of the past two centuries. In fact, I believe the republicans won primarily to STOP the democrats from going to a total socialist style government. Yep…Blame these republicans but know that without them this administration would have had no check on how far they took us down the rabbit hole.

For me the main challenge is juggling my malevolent feelings toward official Gooperdom, and my scorn for the “but both sides do it!” enablers.
anyway, kudos to Messrs. Mann and Ornstein. Here’s one of many great pull-quotes from the linked piece worthy of pondering…
I figure Official Gooperdom are beyond help, but you “Both Sides Duit” folk? Suck. On. ^^This^^.

The Tea Party???
In way too many cases, the extremists of the extremist GOP…
It is, in other words, not a mass movement at all, and it appears to be losing steam. Even in congressional districts in which Tea Party–backed candidates won in 2010, enthusiasm has waned. A New York Times poll of voters in those districts found that “27 percent said they disagreed with the Tea Party and 20 percent said they agreed—a reversal from a year ago, when 27 percent agreed and 22 percent disagreed.”

Also…
A new survey from Public Policy Polling (PPP) shows that Occupy Wall Street, also known as the 99 Percent Movement, now has much more public support than the Tea Party. The PPP poll of 1,000 American adults shows that 27% have a “very positive” or “somewhat positive” view of the Tea Party, compared to 44% who have a “somewhat negative” or “very negative” view. In contrast, 32% have a “very positive” or “somewhat positive” view of Occupy Wall Street, compared to just 35% who have a “somewhat negative” or “very negative” view. Those results already show an advantage for the 99 Percent Movement, but the support grows once Occupy Wall Street is described with the following statement:
“The current economic structure of the country is out of balance and favors a very small proportion of the rich over the rest of the country. America needs to reduce the power of major banks and corporations and demand greater accountability and transparency. The government should not provide financial aid to corporations and should not provide tax breaks to the rich.”
When asked if they agree with that statement, 60% of respondents said they “strongly agree.” Another 16% “mildly agree,” compared with just 12% who “mildly disagree” or “strongly disagree.” Over the last year, Tea Party-backed Republicans have obstructed attempts by Democrats to end corporate tax breaks and to allow the Bush tax cuts for the rich to expire. Occupy Wall Street has generally favored an end of all corporate tax breaks, and more government oversight for large businesses.
The Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street Movement have been compared to each other ever since Occupy Wall Street became a national story. Both share disgust with the federal bailout given to large corporations, but from that point the two movements differ greatly. The 99 Percent Movement is greatly concerned with growing income inequality in America, whereas the Tea Party believes that such inequality is natural, necessary, and in some case even beneficial. Many Occupy Wall Street protesters would support a higher income tax rate on the richest Americans, but Tea Party members generally call that “socialism” or “wealth redistribution.”

I don’t think that those F-18s patrolling our coasts, those TSA searches and the gazillions of dollars that we spend on security in this country is protecting us from a bunch of Baptists. Libs always post McVey as a Christian facist. He was far from that. Waco was a retaliation for Ruby Ridge and for the Branch Dividian standoff at Waco. It has little to do with Christianity and more to do with revenge for those killings. Muslim terrorist violence, however, has everything to do with some Muslim whacko notion that everyone but them are infidels and need to die. Some camel heading Arab back in the 700s seems to have had quite an effect on these sheep. Just like liberals….. lots of trouble figuring out things on their own.

It is pathetic and shemeful the way the looney fringe compares the Oklahoma City bombing to muslim terrorists in an attempt to rationalize the insane behavior of radical muslim terrorists. The OKC bombing was carried out by two or three individual domestic nut cases. The muslim terrorists are an international movement containing of millions of fanatical religious killers dedicated to the destruction of all non muslims. The muslim terrorists use children as suicide bombers. If you can’t tell the difference then shame on you. The OKC bombings took place 15 years ago or more while the muslims terrorists blow up people every day.
