Charges reportedly pending in Trayvon Martin death

While we still don’t have anything close to a full accounting of the night that George Zimmerman shot Trayvon Martin, the prosecuting attorney assigned to investigate apparently believes that she has uncovered enough cause to press charges:

From the Washington Post:

Florida special prosecutor Angela Corey plans to announce as early as Wednesday afternoon that she is charging neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in the shooting of Trayvon Martin, according to a law enforcement official close to the investigation.

It was not immediately clear what charge Zimmerman will face….

Corey told reporters Tuesday night that she would hold a news conference about the case within 72 hours. A news release from her office said the event will be held in Sanford or Jacksonville, Fla.

If charges are filed, it would validate public outrage at the fact that prosecutors initially declined to pursue the case against Zimmerman. It doesn’t mean that the former neighborhood-watch captain is guilty; it does mean that officials may have been hasty in their initial decision.

The guy was a wannabe cop.

When Jeb Bush and the Republicans passed the “Stand your ground” law this is the eventual outcome.

Vigilantism.

Forgot the police ill shoot first and ask questions later.

Also im pretty sure the law only works one way.

If a black man had shot a white man and claimed self defense he would have been under the jailhouse two months ago with a capital murder case awaiting him.

Nope. If charges are filed its probably more due to political pressure and intimidation politics than anything else.

Funny but I remember in Jay’s column about this last week that Jay said the police did practically no investigation. The next day it was revealed that they grilled Zimmerman for 5 hours when they took him into custody that night. No investigation huh Jay?

Now that Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have started to get “justice for Travon”, how long will it take them to come to Atlanta and organized demonstrations for “justice for Irvin”. Who is he, you ask? He is that 18 year old black man who, while unarmed, was gunned down by two black security guards. It can’t be that Jesse and Al are only interested in Travon because he was shot by a white-Hispanic and care nothing for Irvin because he was shot by two blacks. Can it?

“A 17 year old kid with skittles was gunned down in the street.”

If your mind is that of a simpleton then of course that’s how you would view it. Unfortunately its not quite that simple. Allegedly when the cops told Zimm to break off following Tray he did. He then get out of his truck to walk up to an apt building to copy down the address to call it back in to the cops. When he walked back to his truck he was allegedly confronted by trayvon who allegedly asked him if he had a problem. He replied no to which trayvon allegedly replied “you do now” and jumped him. This is Zimm’s story and the story is pretty consistent considering the only eyewitness said T was on top of Z “pounding his head into the concrete”. Its also consistent that when the paramedics came Z had a bloody nose and a laceration “on the back of the head”, allegedly from being jumped on and beaten by Trayvon. Zimm’s story has been pretty consistent, the injuries he suffered are consistent with his story, and then there is the matter of the one eyewitness whose testimony further backs up Zimm’s account of what happened.

What you simpletons can’t seem to understand is that once he broke off and was just walking back to his truck he was allegedly then attacked by T. At that point its a case of self defense if indeed the attack went down this way. And proving that it didn’t go down this way is a pretty high bar to prove according to what some have said on here regarding Florida law.

Not saying Zimm is innocent. Just saying that so far he looks to be pretty consistent and that once again there are 2 sides to every story. Or are you and Maxine Waters and the “no justice, no peace” lynch mob ready to hang him without a trial? Because from what I’ve read on here a lot of you have already convicted the man without giving any semblance of a thought regarding his side of the story.

Zimmerman will get his day in court, he will get arrested and he will quite proably be found guilty. As a non minority person your view and many of your commenters here have a far different perception of the U.S. crimminal justice system. The reality of all minorites experience in this system is the real world and how it truly operates. The Sanford Police Dept as well as many other police departments around the nation are just as corrupt. Just look at some of the most recent cases here in Atlanta. The most egregous was MRS. JOHNSTON. a Old Black woman living alone having her door kicked in during the night on LIES and TRUMPED up charges. Intially as in Travon many readers supported the police version until the Federal Govt exposed all of the lies involved. JamVet,

I think all the way around its just a horribly unfortunate event. But if Zimm and that’s a big IF he is telling the truth and that he was jumped on the way back to his truck after breaking off pursuit then its a clear cut case of self defense- Self defense if trayvon was indeed on top of him breaking his nose with punches and pounding his head into the concrete. According to the eyewitness this is what happened and that Zimm was looking at him and pleading “help me, help me”. If the man really was getting the crap beat out of him and thought he was going to be killed is it any wonder he pulled for his gun?

Sure Zimm could have avoided the entire situation by not playing wannabe cop. But if he stopped pursuit and was going back to his truck when he was allegedly attacked by Trayvon then at that point he is in a defensive posture. Seems to me that a lot of people on here simply don’t care to hear about this and already made up their minds regardless of the facts and in their bloodlust they want him . And that is a shame.

And lastly I’m not saying the man is innocent. He may well be guilty. I’m just saying that lets let the system run its course and let all the facts come out.

Its not just the legal exposure that Petrino brought to u of ark by hiring his mistress. Its also the fact that he lied to his boss about the whole situation initially. Not good

oh that was a bad part..BUT he took that school to a BCS game and was on track to have another good season..I don’t think lying would have hurt Petrino because he making the school a lot of money. I doubt the boosters would’ve went along if it was all about lying..

Yeah, I haven’t really followed the Petrino thing too much. Didn’t really care. Now throw me some good red-meat about Richt getting fired for having an affair and I’ll start paying attention.

Peadawg, I would wager that there is not one major website in this country that did not carry this story extensively.

http://www.ajc.com/news/nation-world/documents-2-suspects-confessed-1412158.html?printArticle=y

http://news.yahoo.com/2-charged-murder-tulsa-shooting-rampage-142411298.html

And yet every single racially obsessed con here seems to have “missed” it.

Here are some excerpts for the corporal, 71 and the rest of them:

Two held on $9 million bail in Tulsa rampage

Two Oklahoma men were held on more than $9 million bond Monday following a shooting rampage that claimed three lives, injured two, and shook Tulsa’s black community.

Alvin Watts, 32, and Jake England, 19, appeared before Judge Bill Hiddle via teleconference from the Tulsa County Jail Monday. They wore orange jumpsuits and said nothing as the judge set bail in a session that lasted less than two minutes.

The two men are held on suspicion of three counts of first-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm with intent to kill, NBC News reported, in a shooting spree that targeted people in predominantly black neighborhoods.

“Today is two years that my dad has been gone shot by a f—— n—– it’s hard not to go off between that and sheran I’m gone in the head,” he wrote, according to the Tulsa World.

Sheran was Sheran Hart Wilde, England’s fiancée, who killed herself in January.

Those killed in the alleged shooting spree were identified as Dannaer Fields, 49, Bobby Clark, 54, and William Allen, 31. All are black.

Nary a peep.

“Where is Zimmerman.Shouldn’t he be standing his ground.”

You would probably be in hiding too if there was a million dollar bounty on your head and Al and Jesse and others were ratchetting up the “no justice, no peace” lynch mob crowd. Judging by the experinces of his parents of death threats and such and of the couple who were harassed with Spike Lee’s erroneous tweet Zimmerman has good reason to fear the vigilante mobs.

“In other news, when questioned about the firing of Coach Petirno and his alleged affair with a 25 year old woman. Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich commented ” Hey, who hasn’t” ?”

That’s nothing…you must have missed Tiger Woods and Damon Evans’s statements.

Tiger – “Dude, only 1 mistress? Loser…”
Damon Evans – “Did she have red panties?”

I mean, he is getting a lot of crap for having an affair.”
With a subordinate…who received a strange $20k payment from the department at his direction. Not just some simple affair, but one that exposed the school to all manner of sexual harassment/discrimination claims.

The amount of men who are all “huh?” about this is scary. If you don’t understand banging your direct subordinates and giving them cash bonuses is not just a personal matter, I sure as hell don’t want to work anywhere you do.

TP, I wrote within a day of this breaking story, that the new LAPD – the Sanford Police Dept – would end up with serious egg on their faces for this apparently pitiful police work.

Florida’s GOP governor, Jeb Bush, said he could not understand how there was no arrest…

Buckeye,

I think the combination of all those things- lying to his boss, putting the school in legal danger of a harassment suit, and the sheer embarassment and humiliation of it all was just too much for him to keep his job. And besides how in the hell would he keep discipline around there if the young men who look up to him see him as nothing more than a liar and a varmint. He wasn’t exactly a role model to begin with.

Oh, but wait, yes he is! Jesse, Al, and the rest of the Travelin’ Race Baitin’ Pimpshow said so.

All I’ve heard since day 1 is to wait for the facts to come out. Now that a special prosecutor has investigated and determined there should be charges filed, many of you simply dismiss it as ‘BS’.

Sounds like you all only wanted to wait for the facts as long as they confirmed your beliefs of what happened that night. Sad.

Yes, they were arrested, but then released. Even though Ervin was unarmed and there was no struggle, these men told police they feared for their lives and then gunned him down. Fairness demands that Ervin get the same justice that Travon deserves. Don’t you agree? Forgive me for saying this, but apperances suggest that neither the police or the Black Community agree.

JamVet,

I wouldn’t blame the Sanford PD too much. They did grill Zimm for 5 freaking hours that night so its not as if they just swept it under the rug. And the lead investigator did recommend to the DA that he be prosecuted. The DA just didn’t think there was enough evidence. The only thing that I guess could have been done and may have been done is they should have called in the florida version of the GBI to help investigate the actual scene more closely. Small town depts just aren’t going to have the same level of expertise or investigatory skill as the FBI or even GBI or a big city dept. But if they grilled Zimm for 5 hours that at least tells me they didn’t just blow off the death of the young man.

Not one of you have any offical, factual information but you know exactly what happened, who is gulity, and that it all comes down to race.

I can’t answer for everyone else, but I got my info directly from the city of Sanford. The had all the 911 tapes up and reports before they were asked to remove them by the Ms. Corey.

Thanks, Jay. Reading that Romney crap is so boring. Racism and guns blogs are much more interesting to read. They really bring out the lefty penchant for hyperbole and insults. Abortion blogs are great too, which is maybe why your last anti-Romney session got converted. :)

Doom — “You would probably be in hiding too”

Don’t you think it’s kinda strange how his own attorneys didn’t know where he was, but he up and calls Sean Hannity out of the blue to ‘get his side of the story out?’
