“People who don’t have money don’t understand the stress. Could you imagine what it’s like to say I got three kids in private school, I have to think about pulling them out? How do you do that?”

– Accountant Alan Dlugash, a specialist in financial planning for the wealthy, explaining the heart-rending consequences of reduced bonuses on Wall Street, where bonuses fell to levels last seen in 2008. This year, the average bonus has collapsed by 14 percent, to $121,150.

(Fortunately, the figure doesn’t include stock options or other unrealized, deferred compensation.)

How many people are employed because:
This guy pays private tuition to sends his kids to private school?
Pays school taxes on value of his house?
Pays city taxes for police and fire fighters based upon his income?
Pays state and federal taxes based upon his income?
I expect he contributes more to our society than moss but go ahead and make fun of him and ignore what he contribute to the others.

These people think, for whatever the reason, they have what amounts to a God given right to wealth. No amount of reason or logic will change this belief. Because of this, they will lie, cheat and steal with no ethics or morals whatever because it’s their “right” to be wealthy. These are the Enron types and I don’t know how to get them out of Wall Street and politics. Unfortunately, Romney falls squarely into this category and he just might be our next President.

“Sitting down for a meal with the President of the United States is just not a chance many people — including me — will ever get.

That’s why you’d be crazy not to at least give this a shot.

We’re drawing the first winner tonight at midnight.

Pitch in $2 or whatever you can to be automatically entered to sit down for a meal with the President.

Consider this: A couple months ago, Scott, a firefighter and dad from Georgia, opened an email about having dinner with the President. He pitched in a few dollars to support the campaign, figuring “Why not?”

Weeks later, the President was offering him a french fry from across the table.

So if you think that could never be you, remember that Scott thought that, too.

Chip in $2 or more to be automatically entered now:”

i get crap like this all the time. 300 million people at 2 bucks a time can make up a lot of money. Yeah, I know it’s not 300 million, but how many DO send 2 or 3 bucks? Quite a damn bunch………….

After getting a pay stub like that, first thing I would do is clean myself up, for sure as the sun comes up tomorrow I’d mess my pants. Then I’d head straight to a dealer to buy a new doublewide and go home and tell the missus to get everything packed up. Maybe we could find some upscale trailer park to move to.

Dude, that’s not even in the same realm of what I’m talking about. People have lost their jobs by the millions. At the same time, many of us are lucky enough to not even have our jobs threatened. Instead of constantly talking about how lazy people are, why don’t you listen for a change. One of my co-workers listened in on a kid trying to get a job at Burger King. The kid was well mannered and dressed. He had been in 10 times to check on his application, but the manager brushed him off like he wasn’t worth it. My co-worker left his number and told the manager to call him next time he came in and he’d find a job since she didn’t think he was worthy of working at Burger King. Anybody well dressed and well mannered going to Burger King 10 times to check on a job obviously wants to work. That’s why I get peeved when I hear the lazy crap. It’s easy to say that type of sh*t, but when you don’t actually know what’s going on in people’s lives, it’s easy to paint with a condescendingly broad brush.

That’s a load of cow dung too!! That whole not paying income tax crap is not even worth the oxygen used to spout it. If our budget was 80% funded through income taxes, you and every other conservative would have a valid point that nobody could argue otherwise. However, how can one argue about not having “skin” in the game when conservative legislators, candidates, and others are constantly yakking about lowering the rates even more. You can’t fuss about somebody not having skin in the game while you’re trying to lower yours at the same time. That’s the ultimate in hypocrisy.

Update, February 22, 2012 at 2:23 p.m.: Rufus Gifford, National Finance Director of Obama for America, sent out a follow-up email this afternoon, writing, “You’d be crazy not to at least give this a shot.” He cites an example of a previous winner:

Consider this: A couple months ago, Scott, a firefighter and dad from Georgia, opened an email about having dinner with the President. He pitched in a few dollars to support the campaign, figuring “Why not?”

Weeks later, the President was offering him a french fry from across the table.

For a donation of $2 or less, supporters of President Obama could win dinner with their idol.

“Donate $2 or whatever you can today to be automatically entered for the chance to be my first dinner guest,” Obama states in a campaign fundraising note sent yesterday.

“These meals are one simple thing that sets this campaign apart,” the letter states. “The seats at our table don’t belong to any Washington lobbyist or powerful interest.”

Earlier this month, the president sat down for a $35,800-per-person dinner with his allies on Wall Street.

That, I can agree with somewhat. I don’t think a pure flat tax is beneficial to lower income workers. I have no problem with the progressive system we have now. I think there needs to be a recalculation of the brackets and reworking the size of them. Also, I could see lowering the rates in exchange for doing away with some of the deductions. However, I would not lower the rates to the point where we continually have to borrow money just to exist as a country.

GINGRICH: Look, I think we should always have respect for various religious documents. But I would also ask you, Wolf, why was it OK for the U.S. Army to burn bibles? I mean I don’t understand this one-sided nature that is always apologizing for Islam while it is dissing Christianity. And it was the U.S. Army policy to burn bibles in 2009. It wasn’t the Obama administration.

And I am just — I personally am — one of the reasons that I’m running for president is that I’m tired of the elite view in this country, you can do anything you want to to Judaism and Christianity, but you have to apologize for Islam as often as necessary and you can never stand up and just say that’s baloney.

President Bush has apologized to Iraq’s prime minister for an American sniper’s shooting of a Quran, and the Iraqi government called on U.S. military commanders to educate their soldiers to respect local religious beliefs.

Bush’s spokeswoman said Tuesday that the president apologized during a videoconference Monday with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, who told the president that the shooting of Islam’s holy book had disappointed and angered both the Iraqi people and their leaders.

“He apologized for that in the sense that he said that we take it very seriously,” White House press secretary Dana Perino said. “We are concerned about the reaction. We wanted them to know that the president knew that this was wrong.”

Obama: The Affirmative Action President
by Matt Patterson

(columnist – Washington Post, New York Post, San Francisco Examiner)

“Years from now, historians may regard the 2008 election of Barack Obama as
an inscrutable and disturbing phenomenon, a baffling breed of mass hysteria
akin perhaps to the witch craze of the Middle Ages. How, they will wonder,
did a man so devoid of professional accomplishment beguile so many into
thinking he could manage the world’s largest economy, direct the world’s
most powerful military, execute the world’s most consequential job?

Imagine a future historian examining Obama’s pre-presidential life: ushered
into and through the Ivy League despite unremarkable grades and test scores
along the way; a cushy non-job as a “community organizer”; a brief career
as a state legislator devoid of legislative achievement (and in fact nearly
devoid of his attention, so often did he vote “present”) ; and finally an
unaccomplished single term in the United States Senate, the entirety of
which was devoted to his presidential ambitions. He left no academic legacy
in academia, authored no signature legislation as a legislator.

And then there is the matter of his troubling associations: the
white-hating, America-loathing preacher who for decades served as Obama’s
“spiritual mentor”; a real-life, actual terrorist who served as Obama’s
colleague and political sponsor. It is easy to imagine a future historian
looking at it all and asking: how on Earth was such a man elected
president?

Not content to wait for history, the incomparable Norman Podhoretz
addressed the question recently in the Wall Street Journal:

To be sure, no white candidate who had close associations with an outspoken
hater of America like Jeremiah Wright and an unrepentant terrorist like
Bill Ayers, would have lasted a single day. But because Mr. Obama was
black, and therefore entitled in the eyes of liberaldom to have hung out
with protesters against various American injustices, even if they were a
bit extreme, he was given a pass.

Let that sink in: Obama was given a pass — held to a lower standard –
because of the color of his skin. Podhoretz continues:

And in any case, what did such ancient history matter when he was also so
articulate and elegant and (as he himself had said) “non-threatening,” all
of which gave him a fighting chance to become the first black president and
thereby to lay the curse of racism to rest?

Podhoretz puts his finger, I think, on the animating pulse of the Obama
phenomenon — affirmative action. Not in the legal sense, of course. But
certainly in the motivating sentiment behind all affirmative action laws
and regulations, which are designed primarily to make white people, and
especially white liberals, feel good about themselves.

Unfortunately, minorities often suffer so that whites can pat themselves on
the back. Liberals routinely admit minorities to schools for which they are
not qualified, yet take no responsibility for the inevitable poor
performance and high drop-out rates which follow. Liberals don’t care if
these minority students fail; liberals aren’t around to witness the
emotional devastation and deflated self esteem resulting from the racist
policy that is affirmative action. Yes, racist.

Holding someone to a separate standard merely because of the color of his
skin — that’s affirmative action in a nutshell, and if that isn’t racism,
then nothing is. And that is what America did to Obama.

True, Obama himself was never troubled by his lack of achievements, but why
would he be? As many have noted, Obama was told he was good enough for
Columbia despite undistinguished grades at Occidental; he was told he was
good enough for the US Senate despite a mediocre record in Illinois; he was
told he was good enough to be president despite no record at all in the
Senate. All his life, every step of the way, Obama was told he was good
enough for the next step, in spite of ample evidence to the contrary. What
could this breed if not the sort of empty narcissism on display every time
Obama speaks?

In 2008, many who agreed that he lacked executive qualifications
nonetheless raved about Obama’s oratory skills, intellect, and cool
character. Those people — conservatives included — ought now to be deeply
embarrassed. The man thinks and speaks in the hoariest of clichés, and
that’s when he has his teleprompter in front of him; when the prompter is
absent he can barely think or speak at all.***Not one original idea has
ever issued from his mouth — it’s all warmed-over Marxism of the kind that
has failed over and over again for 100 years.*

And what about his character? Obama is constantly blaming anything and
everything else for his troubles. Bush did it; it was bad luck; I inherited
this mess. It is embarrassing to see a president so willing to advertise
his own powerlessness, so comfortable with his own incompetence. But
really, what were we to expect? The man has never been responsible for
anything, so how do we expect him to act responsibly?

In short: our president is a small and small-minded man, with neither the
temperament nor the intellect to handle his job. *When you understand that,
and only when you understand that, will the current erosion of liberty and
prosperity make sense. It could not have gone otherwise with such a man in
the Oval Office.”

TaxPayer

February 29th, 2012
10:16 pm

The investigation’s other findings include:

* Some 1,271 government organizations and 1,931 private companies work on programs related to counterterrorism, homeland security and intelligence in about 10,000 locations across the United States.

* An estimated 854,000 people, nearly 1.5 times as many people as live in Washington, D.C., hold top-secret security clearances.

* In Washington and the surrounding area, 33 building complexes for top-secret intelligence work are under construction or have been built since September 2001. Together they occupy the equivalent of almost three Pentagons or 22 U.S. Capitol buildings – about 17 million square feet of space.

* Many security and intelligence agencies do the same work, creating redundancy and waste. For example, 51 federal organizations and military commands, operating in 15 U.S. cities, track the flow of money to and from terrorist networks.

Enough is enough! Right Scout.

Of course some people will disagree, that’s america, but the majority will come through for obama against the republican posers reaching for the brass ring. When bush was hated round the world, the cons said, we don’t care what the world thinks, well I did! Obama is viewed as a practical realist and admired, I’m comfortable with that. Just because you hate him, don’t expect the majority to be on your side. Remember, if it is true that 50% of people pay no income tax, do you really think that they will be voting republican?

You are correct …………. the amount “bloat and overlap” in all areas of the federal government is incredible. If you remember, Bush didn’t want a new DHS either but Congress panicked after 9/11 and forced the issue.

A totally new Congress is the only possibility of making such changes. But I don’t hold out much hope.

They publish articles like this to get people all riled up at the so-called rich. And when the story is told in this way, it works. But, it hardly represents everyone in the same salary range who have had some serious set-backs.

Then again, it does pale in comparison to those people who never had much to begin with and still lost what little they did have,

No sympathy from me for these Wall Street types who, along with the Dem/Lib social engineers in Congress and the federal bureacracy, helped to bring this nation’s economy to its knees. And it is way too bad those in Congress and the entrenched federal bureacracy will never be held accountable for their major role in the melt down, like this pathettic schmuck is now being held accountable. The public employee unions will ensure that they will keep their jobs for life and get their raises and more benies. It was kind of disappointing to see Bookman here take such a disingenuous cheap shot by not acknowledging that the Atlanta lifestyle now enjoyed by his readers and the contributors to this blog, it would require a 150% to 200% increasde in income, or more, in New York. But again, Wall Street can burn itself alive as far as I am concerned.

On a positive note, it was encouraging to see the huge effort the Dem/Libs put into trying to screw up the Michigan primary and de-rail Romney. I have been very discouraged by the Pub debate traveling circus and the damage it has done to the one guy who could beat Obama – Romney. But maybe there is some hope from the fact that the Dem/Libs, with the help of that Bozo, St. Santorum, showed their cards in Michigan about who they really fear. If Super Tuesday finally gets Santorum, Newt, and that Liberarian out of the race (we can only hope and pray), and the Pub/Cons decide that they would rather be President than right . . . and the Pubs finally unite . . . well, it’s still a long way to the election. And the upside is that all of these awful attacks on Romney will be stale, and used, and re-used, and re-used by the time Obama can use them . . . yawn. We’ll see, but last night was very telling. Hope the Pub/Cons finally get the message.

With nothing of substantive value to write, the media stooges are instructed (so I’ve heard) to write about a subject to stir up the unwashed masses (see Occupy), in no particular order.

They would be:

1. Race (see Cynthia Tucker for refresher courses)

2. Wealth envy (look for the democratic registration booth placed for your convenience in every welfare and food stamp/ebt office)

3. personal attacks based on race, religion, or wealth status (see 1 and 2 above)

4. anything atheistic

5. NASCAR – sorry, comic relief, everyone knows NASCAR fans are all incestuous, fat, beer-swilling, uneducated buffoons living in trailer parks but scraping together enough money for that satellite dish and new pickup with the 12 cylinder, 1400 hp engine and a chassis that requires a stepladder for admission, just throw the beer cans off the seat onto the floor…

6. Race (see all of the above)

7. how we should be like the French

8. The KKK

9. MLK

10. KFC – kudos to Louis Farrakhan

Oh well, I think I’ll go empty my rain gauge now; that water looks both cold and deep.

Reminded me when I went to Colorado back in the mid 70’s. I was going to try out for a semi-pro football team. Anyway came out to my car from practice one evening and it was the proverbial gully washer. Got in the car and heard mew, mew. Got out looked under the hood and spotted an orange bedraggled kitten pressed up against the inside of my front tire by the force of the run off in the gutter.

Anyway long story short, I picked it up, took it home, ran out to get all of the necessities for the damn thing and refused to name it.
The very next morning, I got out of the shower and was standing in my birthday suit fixing to shave. All of a sudden I feel these needles marching up my bare leg, look down and see this kitten climbing up to the sink and commence to play with the soapy water. I looked at the trail of blood spots on my leg and said something like “Damn, cat! You’re a hell of a climber!” Then I realized I had named him. Clymer lived eighteen years. He was a damned good family cat too.

Chief U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull on Wednesday admitted to sending a racially charged email about President Barack Obama from his courthouse chambers.

Cebull, of Billings, was nominated by former President George W. Bush and received his commission in 2001 and has served as chief judge for the District of Montana since 2008.

The subject line of the email, which Cebull sent from his official courthouse email address on Feb. 20 at 3:42 p.m., reads: “A MOM’S MEMORY.”

The forwarded text reads as follow:

“Normally I don’t send or forward a lot of these, but even by my standards, it was a bit touching. I want all of my friends to feel what I felt when I read this. Hope it touches your heart like it did mine.

“A little boy said to his mother; ‘Mommy, how come I’m black and you’re white?’” the email joke reads. “His mother replied, ‘Don’t even go there Barack! From what I can remember about that party, you’re lucky you don’t bark!’”
