Imagine the aftermath of a Romney loss in Michigan
If Mitt Romney loses Michigan tonight — and the polls say that’s possible — you’re gonna see some stuff happen. The Republican Party is gonna look like the scene in “Titanic” when people finally begin to understand: This unsinkable sucker could really go down.

Such a defeat would not end Romney’s campaign — he has too many resources and too much organization to simply sink beneath the waters. But a loss in his native state would confirm to many of his fellow Republicans that an alternative must be found, and quickly. For Romney, the setback would be significant because it would damage the single most important asset that he possesses, which is credibility. Mr. Inevitable would look more and more like Mr. Inevitable Loser.
But what alternatives do the Republicans have? Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum are far more problematic than Romney. I’m beginning to hear strange noises out of Florida, as if Jeb Bush were starting to stir a bit, but that’s still a longshot. On the other hand, if Romney loses Michigan, those noises may increase in volume pretty quickly.
Truthfully, though, it’s still hard to envision the mechanism by which a late entry seizes control of the race. Those who have been campaigning all along aren’t going to meekly set aside their ambitions and allow some white knight to ride in and seize the prize.
And should Romney win in Michigan? Victory won’t do a lot for him, because it’s a state that he’s supposed to win pretty handily, against a set of opponents whom he ought to thrash. In college basketball terms, you don’t get many RPI points for beating weak opponents on your home court. A Romney win in Michigan, twinned with an expected win in Arizona, would merely extend the party’s current unsettled state of affairs.

I can’t remember where I saw that 20% figure, but there’s apparently evidence of some sort for it. If Iran can’t or won’t present a plausible explanation, then I think the IAEA needs to demand access to wherever that’s being produced. If Iran won’t grant access, then I think stronger measures must be considered and discussed with all possible speed.

Your not confused. Trancanada is the outfit that wants to build the pipeline in order to more quickly and cheaply transport crude to the coastal refineries so they can get it on the world market faster and reap quicker profits. However, in regard to gas prices in the U.S., the Keystone will mean exactly squat.

ByteMe, thanks for the link. I don’t buy the medical isotopes claim; AFAIK, there are no medical isotopes of uranium. You can use uranium to help *produce* some medical isotopes, but there are plenty you can produce *without* uranium. Again, IMO Iran needs to come clean.

We already virused their main centrifuge facility once. Hosed it up for MONTHS. I suspect that covert ops are being planned and are possibly under way. We have options outside of a high-intensity conflict.

It didn’t take us long to find Barack Obama’s original quote, which came from a videotaped interview he did with the San Francisco Chronicle editorial board very early in the presidential campaign, January 2008.
“Under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket,” Obama told the Chronicle . “Coal-powered plants, you know, natural gas, you name it, whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money on to consumers.”
While Obama was talking specifically about cap-and-trade, he was also making a larger point that the biggest challenge will be making sure voters understand why such a plan is necessary.

urkle may still be well loved by the libs but they are hiding far better than they did three years ago. I judge it by bumper stickers. I enacted a surcharge of $20 per invoice for travel with proceeds going to company parties, for every job one of my guys pulled up on that had a car in the driveway with an obama sticker on it. First year, we had a helluva Christmas party, second year pretty good, last year proceeds were way down and this year it’s looking like a quarter pounder and a coke kind of party from lack of bumper stickers. C’mon libs on the east side show your urkle pride and help give a bunch of plumbers (soon to be without health care) a great Christmas party. May want to check with the Europeans who suffered through a brutal winter where several places set alltime cold weather temp records. And change it back to climate change since the global warming crap wouldn’t apply to their winter over yonder.

It aint about me. My service was honorable. One thing is for sure though. I didn’t come back and denigrate the other troops still over there like a true POS. And I didn’t throw medals and ribbons over the gate to the white house grounds in a protest. Of course I wasn’t of age during vietnam. Aint no defending this POS try as people might.
