On gay question, Georgia legislators side with Sharia
A bill proposed in the Georgia House of Representatives would make it illegal for public employers, such as schools, universities and state government itself, to discriminate against Georgians on the basis of their sexual orientation or identity.
At this point in history, you might think that protecting school teachers and others from being fired solely because of their sexual orientation would be pretty uncontroversial. In fact, the legislator who sponsored the bill, state Rep. Karla Drenner of Avondale Estates, is herself gay. In a subcommittee hearing this week, every witness but one testified in favor of House Bill 630.
The sole exception was Tanya Ditty, a teacher and state director of the conservative and anti-gay Concerned Women of America, which claims 12,000 members in Georgia. Among other things, the group also campaigns against the imposition of Sharia law, which it describes as “a threat to America as we know it.”
Here is an excerpt from Ditty’s testimony.
For those unable to view the video, Ditty warns that the legislation would force public schools to hire and employ people who engage in beastiality, necrophilia and other -ialities and -philias too horrible to mention. She also expresses concern about restroom policy, recounting a searing incident five years ago in which she believes she shared a restroom with a man dressed as a woman, but didn’t discover it until afterward.
The good news is, she survived.
“What’s going to protect our children if a pedophiliac comes in and gets a teaching job, is a bus driver, is a custodian?” Ditty asked legislators. “And they can be people who just want to prey on children, and they will be protected with this law.”
For the record, child sexual abuse is a vicious crime. It is a felony in this state. Anyone with a record of pedophilia is not only barred by Georgia law from teaching in a school or serving as a bus driver; such a person is banned from living or working in any job within 1,000 feet of a school or even a school bus stop. Nothing about HB 630 would have changed that. The legislation does not protect criminals or sexual predators.
Nonetheless, the House subcommittee voted 3-2, with the Republican majority carrying the day, to kill the bill and to continue to deny gay and lesbian Georgians the right to be employed by the same government to which they pay taxes and by which they are governed.
However, I wonder if they realize that by doing so, they themselves have ensured that Georgia law remains in compliance with Sharia law, which like Ditty and others condemns gays for “transgressing the limits.”

It’s becoming increasingly clear that the far-right Tea Party Republicans want a fundamentalist Christian dominated House, Senate and Presidency. While they would not say so publicly, the idea of separation of Church and State is something they clearly don’t believe in. If America continues to dumb down, look for us to be much like Iran, dominated by fundamentalists.

Not quite. Apparently the O man does not understand the laws of supply and demand. And apparently neither do some of his minions. Drilling increases supply. So what happens to price when you increase supply in the law of supply and demand? It will take awhile but one day in the very distant future folks like Midori just may figure it out. Thus proving you aren’t paying ENOUGH attention to realize what is ACTUALLY going on. Please show me a policy, ANY policy, that Obama has implemented that has caused higher gas prices. The oil drilling moratorium did not. Oil drilling permits have been issued to more than catch up with any supposed loss during that 6 month period anyway, and yet gas prices are still going up!
Do you guys remember when gas prices were going down and every time I said that was thanks to Obama as a joke you guys said he had nothing to do with it? What happened to that?

Apparently you don’t get that drilling has been increasing and our dependence has been decreasing and that we cannot possibly meet the demand requirements anyway despite our consistence effort across both administrations to ramp up oil drilling. Supply keeps increasing and no extra amount of adding to the world supply is going to immediately, or even over the long term, affect gas prices if the demand keeps going the way it’s going. In addition, the other major suppliers have a history of turning down their oil taps the more we increase supply, so they can continue to reap profits from selling at a high level.

I watched Fox news last night and the panel stated that Obama should come out with a statement to influence oil companies to sell the oil in America or face export fees increases. Also, he should restart the drilling and open up more lands for drilling. Why do we sale our oil to China? It is not a normal business it is a monopoly runned by cartels. That leaves the government who spouts so much about helping the poor a lot of room to curb the behavior of the oil companies. Hmmm imagine that.

Please God, give these people some SENSE. How many times do we have to say it? WE ARE NOT THE ONLY OIL SUPPLIERS IN THE WORLD. If WE increase our oil supply, all other suppliers have to do is REDUCE theirs and the net result is NO CHANGE IN AVAILABLE OIL SUPPLY, AND NO CHANGE IN PRICES.

The woman is certainly wrong on the counts of a pedophile getting a job or that they would be protected by law? I think the only real standing that she has is the perhaps broad definition of sexual orientations to include 23 scientific designations. And she may in fact be correct that someone convicted of beastiality could get a job. I dunno if that charge would carry the same weight as say a pedophilia conviction.
The whole thing about this is that you guys are being quite the drama queens concerning this woman. She only spoke for 3 minutes and was the only person who spoke against the bill. Does anyone on here really think that this one woman swayed the day and so influenced any of the 3 subcommittee members who voted against the bill? Really?
I think if gays really want to direct their anger they should focus on the 3 subcommittee members who thwarted the bill. Or perhaps convince the author of the bill to narrow the language bill so as this woman would have an even weaker argument- get rid of her 23 definitions of sexual orientation argument.

OPEC used to try to cut production to keep prices up when demand drops but they weren’t that successful due to OPEC countries that “cheated” on production quotas. So now they just get the iranian leader to say something bat shat crazy and the price goes up.
