Because sometimes, you know, you just have to go for it ….
… although I confess that everytime I hear this now, in my mind I see the hilarious head-bobbing scene in that AMC Pacer from Wayne’s World. Back in the day, I was a passenger in, or on occasion driver, of that car more often than I should admit, although for me it was a ‘68 Pontiac Bonneville with a 390-horse V-8 that could go w-aaaay too fast.
Anyway, here’s to rock n’ roll anthems.

Jay,
Sweet. And in high school I was bombing around in a ‘63 Pontiac Bonneville convertible with real walnut in the dash. Dad bought it from a young guy in north San Diego county whose dad had it shipped out from New Jersey on a rail car, then died, so the kid sold it to dad for $500.
Sucker got 10mpg on a good day.

“You can tell her there’s a hot sun beating on the black top
She keeps talkin’ she’ll be walkin’ that last block
She can take a subway back to the ghetto tonight
Well I got some beer and the highway’s free
And I got you, and baby you’ve got me
Hey, hey, hey what you say Sherry Darlin’ “

‘65 Olds Jetstar 88. 305 4 Barrell carb. Red convertible. Sucker would fly. When the four barrell kicked in it would knock you back in the seat! And gas was 37 cents/gallon and the minimum wage was 1.60.

Heathen is compelled to report that we had a fine time at the Elizabeth Cook and Willie Nelson show in Hiawassee last Saturday night. Too bad we can’t post pics here because I have some nice ones. Willie still getting it done at 78! Needless to say that the hillbillies were eating it up. Thought we’d see granny panties flying up onto the stage at any minute.

“That has led to speculation by some that high gasoline prices caused the economic woes that followed, but most economists dismiss that theory. ”
No they wouldn’t. Jay, have a source for that gem?
Most economists will readily admit that, after interest rates, oil prices play the biggest role in determining our GDP growth beyond all other factors.
