And the Tax Policy Center has run the numbers on what the “Romney Rule” would do to the tax-home incomes of the top 1 percent and top 0.1 percent:

Top 1 percent average after-tax income
Today: $1,243,803
Romney rule: $1,163,922
————————————-
Tax hike: $79,881, or a reduction in after-tax income of 6.4 percent.

Top 0.1 percent
Today: $5,304,358
Romney rule: $4,867,510
————————-
Tax hike: $436,848, or reduction in after-tax income of 8.2 percent.

Jay with the wealth envy card right on cue! And the rants of the 5%ers begin. You know them. The 5% of the world’s population that live in the U.S. and who have it better than the overwhelming majority of the planet, who use far more of the planets resources relative to their numbers, and then complain about what the 1% have that they don’t have.

Those 5%ers make me sick. Maybe they should go whine to the 47% of the world’s population that subsists on $2 a day or less. Waaaaa!

Jay, the Mitt rap song is a new low. Quite hypocritical I might add. The Left vilifies rich people, then when there is one running for POTUS licks their chops as they try to demolish him.

“I also see where Allen West now claims he didn’t really say that Obama and other liberals should leave America.”

That’s correct, because he did not. He stated to take the “message” somewhere else and to get the hell out. If he’s backpeddling, I’m disappointed. If he is being pressured, it from the biased Left media that according to you does not exist. If he had been disparaging W., they would have pilled on.

On the other hand, there’s that percentage who complain about all the things that poor people have in this country — cell phones, TVs, food stamps, etc. — and are bitter because people trying to raise a family on $30,000 a year pay no federal income taxes.

Well we know that Jay. We know it from when CBS prematurely and purposefully called Florida for Al Gore early in the W vs Gore election in order to drive heavily panhandle voters away from the polls as they were an hour behind. It ended up costing W several thousand votes as voters who were listening to it on the radio on the way home from work just went home instead of voting since they were led to believe Gore had already won the state despite the fact that it was a close race the whole way. And to think there are people who still deny that the media is biased. Wayyyy toooo funny.

I’ll even go one step further, Rickster, and challenge you to prove to me that even if I were to argue for 100% confiscation of wealth above a certain high income level amounts to ‘vilification’.

That’s right, I think we should return to the 90+% tax rates we had under the Republican Eisenhower on the very top incomes. However, I challenge you to prove that that fact alone amounts to vilifying those high earners.

Vilifying people has more to do with things like tossing people in jails on spurious charges and smashing people’s shop windows, and lynching them and the like, don’t you think? We’re light years away from ‘vilifying’ the rich just because we’re finally, decades later, getting around to at least CONSIDERING some modest raises in their taxes as we face fiscal ruin.

This is a battlefield that we must stand upon and we need to let president Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and my dear friend, the chairman of the Democrat National Committee [Debbie Wasserman-Schultz], we need to let them know that Florida is not on the table. Take your message of equality of achievement, take your message of economic dependency, and take your message of enslaving the entrepreneurial will and spirit of the American people somewhere else.

Nah, that’s not it.

How about, because unchecked concentrated power through wealth makes no more sense than unchecked concentrated power through other means, e.g. political, in a system that claims to be based on the principle of checking power accumulation (separation of powers).

That power has succeeded in reordering the financial policy to funnel ever more wealth from the bottom to the top for 3 decades now and that trend needs to be reversed (not slowed, but reversed).

Pointing that fact out is not baseless or petty. It’s entirely pragmatic and responsible.

josef, I support Mitt Romney as do many other conservatives. As for Gingrich he did indeed impress many in South Carolina with his debating style and others bought into his attack on Romney for his Bain Capital career and also that he hadn’t released his tax returns. Romney did a poor job of countering Gingrich’s attack in South Carolina but it appears that he learned from that experience and appears posed to do very well in Florida. As for “that anti-gay screed you’re evidently referencing from a post I made yesterday evening, I’ve been clear on my position since I began posting on this blog. I don’t believe my position is anti-homosexual on a personal level. I simply view the practice of homosexuality to be a sin. I went on to say that we’re all sinners and unworthy of God’s Grace, therefore I don’t condemn homosexuals.

They BOTH sucked – I will not hunt for a specific article, but give you a general example. That bening, almost anything from the Associated Press, which the AJC uses a lot, is biased to the Left.

And, one of my big things against the AJC is their opinion. Their opinion is contrary to the majority of the state. Instead of an opinion that influences ATL to that of the state, it perpetuates the divide. The paper is loaded with Liberals. Jay will probably say no, but the face of the AJC has only one person I see as a true Conservative – Kyle.

“Since you seem to believe most of the media is liberal, why do you think that is?”

Easy. Most of them go to elite indoctrination schools and the top journalism schools such as Columbia’s are bastions of elite academics in their ivory toweres with their rather leftist biases built right in. Can’t compete in the real world? Go into your ivory tower and preach about how things ought to be done.

A quick google, yahoo or bing search will provide you a list of additional “liberal media” outlets that DIDN’t cover the rally including the AJC which I have listed already

Nice try…………… maybe next time
