Missives from the land of the birthers

I’m in the courtroom of Judge Michael Malihi, awaiting arguments in a case attempting to remove Barack Obama from the 2012 Georgia presidential ballot.

Roughly 100 people are in the courtroom, most of them older white Americans. The conversations are thick with various birthed theories being bandied about.

Dressed tastefully in black and wearing a pearl choker, The redoubtable Orly Taitz swept in a few minutes ago, making a star’s entrance amid whispers of “look, there she is!”

A bailiff has summoned attorneys for the plaintiffs and defendants into chambers for a pre-hearing conference. Since the Obama camp has decided to boycott the hearing, only the four plaintiffs’ attorneys, including Taitz, are in the session.

The plaintiffs have queued up a number of exhibits, including CBS and ABC videos reporting on Obama’s time in Indonesia. No sign of whether such exhibits will be allowed.

Can you clean up and post the below on my blog on an entry headlined “Missives ….?”

This is a bunch of garbage and black people in the State of Georgia really need to stand up and say something. He is the President of the United States and just because he is up for re-election prejudice white folks are trying to block it. Well they didn’t challenge the birth of any of our former Presidents. When will black people wake and realize white folks will always and only see us as black no matter what position we hold and as long as they are here in this world they want us to stay behind them. Our young black people need to realize you will always be black and you need to really learn our history because if we are not careful they will have us back into slavery and take away our voting rights altogether if we let them.

Butch,

Your point is a good one, but it is my understanding that once individuals are elected to the Senate, they are granted secret clearance and a background check would not be performed. So, unless I am mistaken, any background check would have taken place prior to his having taken office as Senator.

The requirements for the Senate differ from those for the Presidency.

For expediency’ sake, I’ll quote Google:

“Article I, Section 3 of the Constitution sets three qualifications for senators: 1) each senator must be at least 30 years old, 2) must have been a citizen of the United States for at least the past nine years, and 3) must be (at the time of the election) an inhabitant of the state he or she seeks to represent.”

Gas is back on the rise. The average life expectancy of US persons is down for the first time in almost a century. The US income gap that was on par with the rest of the free world 30 years ago has broken out to about 40 times wider. Unemployment is persistent. Campaign finance has been rendered irrelevant because corporate interests can manipulate public opinion Madison Ave style.
In Georgia, some of our leaders (Hatfield, for example) seem to only be concerned with matters relating to “them” Bob Dylan once wrote a song about leaders like this. It was called, “Only a Pawn in their Game.”

Completely off topic, but until Jay gets back with more laughs, there’s this…

Murdoch: Romney’s Tax Returns May ‘Kill’ Him

Rupert Murdoch, the conservative media mogul who owns Fox News, tweeted Wednesday that the release of Mitt Romney’s tax returns could “kill” his candidacy.

“Romney’s tax returns might kill his chances. See Republican establishment panic now!” Murdoch tweeted.

The former Massachusetts governor remains in a thorny political situation. He made more than $20 million income last year and paid only about 14 percent in income taxes.

But Romney’s own tax plan has called for all Americans to pay a minimum 25 percent tax.

Newt Gingrich’s plan, however, calls for a flat 15 percent income tax for all Americans. Gingrich has mocked Romney’s plan, saying that Romney wants Americans to pay more in tax than he himself does.

Romney’s campaign is reeling.

Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal reported this week that Romney’s posture suggests that his wealth embarrasses him.

The Journal reported that Romney is thinking of scrapping the so-called “carried interest” provision that has allowed Romney and other venture capitalists to invest and reap profits at the low capital gains tax rate of 15 percent.

If “carried interest” were scrapped, rates on venture investments could be taxed at normal income rates.

Gingrich, for his part, says Romney’s plan is folly. Gingrich has argued he would cut capital gains taxes across the board to zero to stimulate investment and create new jobs.

Romney appears in a box. Shamed by his low tax rates, he is calling for higher taxes for everyone else. As Politico put it, “Mr. Romney remains in a defensive crouch, as if he’s embarrassed by his wealth.”

Newt’s Erratic: As speaker, Newt “was erratic, undisciplined.” Gingrich would propose one agenda, the Republican leadership would prepare for it, and several days later, he would have a completely different agenda. “We spent a lot of time working with Newt, if you will, to keep him focused and keep him online with the agenda we had promised the American people.”

Newt’s Not Conservative: Gingrich is “not really a conservative,” but someone who will “tell you what you want to hear.” Newt stepped down as Speaker because “conservative Republicans, wouldn’t vote for him again.”

The Supreme Court already has ruled on this. A little case known as US v Wong Kim Ark. An American born in San Francisco to two Chinese Nationals parents. At the time, Chinese could not become naturalized citizens (due the Chinese Exclusion Act). He was prevented from returning the US (from China) because the US claimed he was not a citizen. The Supreme Court went on to define what Natural Born Citizen was, and also ruled that Wong Kim Ark was a citizen because of his birth. that his parents citizenship was not a factor in his citizenship status.

This case has been cited more than a 1000 times in other cases on citizenship.

I have to produce tons of documents for everything under the sun. Now they are talking in NY about having kids give a DNA sample before taking the SATs. There are serious questions about the legitimacy of the president’s qualifications for the office of president and nothing he has produced so far has aleviated those questions/concerns. His contempt and disdain for the constitution are evident from his behavior in office over the past 3 years. It is imperative that this question be answered once and for all and I applaud this judge for having the balls (even if a woman) to actually stick to principles and demand answers. Most of america doesn’t give a damn about the constitution, liberty, freedom, or the rule of law if the ends can justify the means. That is why the judicial branch was supposed to hold the politicians to the law. It is about time that is happening.

And by the way, I think that Bush was an unconstitutional war criminal too, so this is not about left/right, republican/democrat. I actually respect the constitution and want to see every past president tried and convicted for their crimes against it and all of the international laws they have violated (yes, virtually every one of them).

I make no claims, with regard to Hawaii’s records. I merely stated that the copy of the birth certificate on the White House website is far from a photocopy and has been photoshopped on a Mac.

Why? I have absolutely no idea.

Is Obama a ‘Natural Born’ citizen? That is for the courts to decide.

Was Obama born in the United States? The burden of proof resides with the plaintiffs.

Is the document on the White House website heavily doctored up? Absolutely. And, concerning my original point, I can’t imagine for the life of me why anyone would doctor up a file of such huge importance.

Yep, the birthers are legitimately whacked.

Seriously.

Was Obama born in the United States? The burden of proof resides with the plaintiffs.

Ummm that would be Tate and Friends as plaintiffs.

I’m no ‘birther’, just an inherently curious person. So I checked out the birth certificate and wound up with more questions than answers.

well sure. I checked something out too online and I want all my questions answered. Everybody gets one question answered…its in the constitution (well now it is).

There is no legitimate doubt about where the president was born. The only doubt is in the mind of the foolish who think this garbage has any traction. Again, I would be much more concerned about what Bush and Cheney had to hide and why they refused to speak on record or outside of each others presence to the 9/11 Commission. These are the same two idiots who left office leaving the economy f***d and committing American lives to two wars, one of which was based on a lie.

You people really have the wrong thought process.

Bill O’Rights,

“So I checked out the birth certificate and wound up with more questions than answers.”

Which were answered earlier, and you chose to ignore it. Which makes you either purposely ignorant or a birther. But I guess those are one in the same.

Watching the birthers like Taitz and the crazy commenters on here is like watching a dog chase it’s own tail. Just plain ignorance brought to its highest form. I know our country gives every citizen freedom of speech, but geez, some people just need to keep their traps shut.

All birthers are ignorant, but not all who are ignorant are also birthers.
