UPDATE: That was an impressive win. A 14-point margin for Newt Gingrich is probably more than the former speaker could dream of a week ago, and certainly was unimagined by the Romney camp. A lot of Republican Party officials will not sleep well tonight.
The voting booths close at 7 p.m. in South Carolina, and given movement in the most recent polls, it wouldn’t be surprising if the networks name Newt Gingrich the winner shortly thereafter.
If that happens — and particularly if Gingrich can push his margin into double digits, which seems plausible — the Republicans have themselves a serious problem. Newt will come out of South Carolina with the smell of napalm in his nostrils, and we all know what napalm smells like: victory.

The greater the Gingrich margin, the more it will validate his strategy of attacking Mitt Romney on the issue of his Bain-gotten wealth. As his high-school yearbook photo tells you, this is a man with a grandiose sense of destiny, and the closer he gets to seeing it realized, the more aggressive he will become.
And as I’ve pointed out before, the Republican establishment will have only itself to blame. They have trained their base to turn up its nose at even the slightest aroma of moderation. They have fed it on resentment, and instilled it with a deep disdain for the media. In short, they have turned it into an audience utterly susceptibel to a man of Newt’s talents and eccentricities.
On the other hand, if Romney wins, this thing’s all but over. We’ll know in a few hours.

Looking back at the elder Romeny run and the tie together of the Morman born abroad to question his loyalties to the American state, the Kenyan Muslim text reads pretty much a repeat… The reason we don’t recall it in the popular mind is that the elder Romney dropped out before he was nominated…

Jay, your comment about the Republicans having fed its base on resentment reminds me of a quote I once read. “I have two dogs fighting inside of me. I know which one will win. The one I feed.” No, I am not calling anyone a dog__that was the quote. But what it means is that when one feeds a diet of bitterness, hatred, distrust, and bigotry to another, that’s what you get in return.

It’s a Cherokee story
An old Grandfather said to his grandson, who came to him with anger at a friend who had done him an injustice, “Let me tell you a story.
I too, at times, have felt a great hate for those that have taken so much, with no sorrow for what they do.
But hate wears you down, and does not hurt your enemy. It is like taking poison and wishing your enemy would die. I have struggled with these feelings many times.” He continued, “It is as if there are two wolves inside me. One is good and does no harm. He lives in harmony with all around him, and does not take offense when no offense was intended. He will only fight when it is right to do so, and in the right way.
But the other wolf, ah! He is full of anger. The littlest thing will set him into a fit of temper. He fights everyone, all the time, for no reason. He cannot think because his anger and hate are so great. It is helpless anger, for his anger will change nothing.
Sometimes, it is hard to live with these two wolves inside me, for both of them try to dominate my spirit.”
The boy looked intently into his Grandfather’s eyes and asked, “Which one wins, Grandfather?”
The Grandfather smiled and quietly said, “The one I feed.”

There are currently no “radical libs” in charge of this country or in any major political position in this country, nor have there been since 2007.
And if you think there are, then that says nothing about the country but only serves to show how wildly captive you are to a particular type of political obfuscation and illusion.

If this was happening to another country, it would be funny. But it isn’t. It’s happening to OUR country.
On one hand you have a group of people who think in order to win, they must appeal to the the extreme base (who will vote for the party not the person anyway). But in doing so, they turn off the indy voter (you know, the ones that decide elections)
On the other hand you have the incumbent. A man who, lets be honest, isn’t the best we’ve ever had. A prez, who if people were given a better choice, would not win reelection. But, given his potential challenger (Newt or Mittens) will win decidedly.
And in the middle, we have us, the American people scratching our heads saying WTF?

Many of the libs on this blog identify Newt with Bob Dole in running against Bozo. Nothing could be further from the truth. Dole was a weak sister with no balls, running against a strong president and a good politician. Newt is no Bob Dole. Newt is no weak sister and the person that he running against is a political joke. With all of his warts, Newt is still the man to beat. I know all of you libs were hoping for a Ron Paul win, even a Santorum win, but Newt? The baddest SOB on the block, a real threat to Bozo and his grandiose plans for a socialistic America. But we don’t want to live in a Bozo America and Newt is fixin’ to place a big torpedo in that Hope and Change ship out there. There will not be another liberal elected to the Presidency in the next generation. For that we owe Bozo a debt of gratitude. He has shown America just how bad a true socialist liberal is in the WH and it has scared America to death. We will not make that same mistake again.

Here are you libs something to chew on for a while. Herman Cain was massacred in the media for his sexual harrassment claims (not because the people came out) so why has no media outlet ever reported this story? Do not know if the stories are true or not but that did not stop the media with Herman or with Newt for that matter. They drug up Newts 13 years ago divorce? What is the difference?
“During Barack Obama’s tenure as the president of the Harvard Law Review in the late 1980s, at least two male student editors complained to colleagues and senior university officials about inappropriate behavior by Obama, ultimately leaving their positions at the journal, multiple sources confirm to THE KANSAS CITIAN.
The men complained of sexually suggestive behavior by Obama that made them angry and uncomfortable, the sources said, and they signed agreements with the university that gave them financial payouts to leave the journal. The agreements also included language that bars the men from talking about their departures.
In a series of comments over the past 10 days, Obama and his administration repeatedly declined to respond directly about whether he ever faced allegations of sexual harassment at the journal.”

3) I hope this case works its way to the Supreme Court NOT for this election but in time for the 2016 election
It has already been detrmined what a “natural born citizen” is — if there was a problem with the definition, then why wasn’t it challenged when JFK was president? His father was originally from Ireland. Why now? Why THIS president?

Keep:DDR, I posted that yesterday….shocking isn’t it.
Ridiculous! The judge should’ve thrown it out– but i guess the plaintiff got lucky and found a birther/conspiracy theory/republican judge to hear the case.
I have not been able to find a whole lot on the briefs and the decision but I suspect its an administrative law judge who seems to have made a very foolish decision. I cannot imagine any reason that the President should be required to come to Georgia to testify on matters which the State of Hawaii have certified. The claims reqarding what is a “natural born citizen” seem rather foolish
I can’t remember the ammendment; but it was adjacent to the one that freed the slaves. When they were freed, the ones born on US soil were granted citizenship. That should be precedent enough. Unfortuantely the walking dead amongst us just won’t let this crap die.

Formally (I liked that one mo better!) the Black Guy
josef, I may switch back. I just like putting it out there how absurd some people are. It’s like saying “my ex used to beat me with a baseball bat but my current love only beats me with a softball bat”.

So, DADT and California Prop 8 …. some things are just a little to coincidental. Vetting is a wonderful thing, even if it comes three years too late.

But Obama’s policies are disliked by 60% of the country. The Independents that will decide the election may have to decide between the person I like better or the set of policies I like better.

Looks like Newt is still at 40% while Mitts is at 27%. Seems like something resonated. Newt is Bozo’s worst nightmare. Since 1980, the Republican who has won SC has gone on to be the Republican nominee. Maybe Mitts can turn that around in FL but……

Can’t be good for the platform.
